Legendary Fighting Game of all time   evilcon09
Hi everyone and welcome to my review of Street Fighter 2 the original dub (not super, nor turbo,)for the arcade. This game was legendary for the time of its release but eventually the later versions eventually changed the formula. To the characters and how they are played and balance of all the fighters, Then later added combos and new ways to pull off each super attack like doing the hurricane kick in midair, To Granting new moves to pre existing characters like chun li with her fireball etc, The game has many ports on which i won't exactly do since it would be pretty much the same thing :)
History: The game was intended to be a beat them up like how games like final fight and streets of rage was.(It's ironic that final fight came from the idea of street fighter 89 before that turned into final fight) The game was in development after final fight was released in arcades back in the day. with nearly 50 folk worked on the game from the balance. There were many designs of some the characters but some of them scrapped characters did kinda made it into later games. The game was met with universal praise and did pretty well with many media dubs and made fighting games extremely popular with the many things they did add. Characters that can be played as, Female fighters, unique stages/theme songs (correct if i am wrong about that or the entire thing)
Gameplay: what do you expect in a fighting game just simply beat down the opponent till they are knocked out or let the time run out with the victor who has the most health wins the round or the game if the 2nd or final round has ended. The game has 8 original characters in this version of the game on which hail form different parts of the world with of course some of the 7 of the fighters hail from the same country (And yes i am counting Bison AKA Balrog plus the other 2 bosses) with each of the fighters having their own play styles like Guile for example if pretty much on the offence, Chun li with her agility and with those legs of hers could make mince meat out of anyone who comes her way, Dhalsim with his incredibly reach and low attack power. The game won't end after beating the other 7 warriors with the player must fight the shadaloo bosses (Main villains of the street fighter franchise apart from the street fighter 3 series)
This time i am going to cut out the story due to the time of the games release fighting games and story where rather part of the characters endings (besides from official cannon tie in media that could serve as a back story or with later games explaining the story with many changes in later games. Plus the debates on the characters endings being cannon as well) so forgive me on that
Music: The games music was composed by Yoko Shimomura who did make the music of every character and theme song with help from Isao Abe. The songs did get remixed or updated in later installments as well as when the game upgraded from the Capcom's Cps's (Arcade system made by capcom) and later installments as well. the sound effects are pretty good i like how the some of the characters say their moves well of course some kinda gets misheard (trust me i happend when i pulled of the hurricane kicks as ken masters)
Graphics: the game looks amazing and still is unlike most modern games (forgive me for that since some modern games do kinda come out ugly these days) It still holds up to this day. With impressive animation with the background of each stage. As well the characters on how they move and attack (With some ports only losing a few animations due to system limits) still its pretty good with later dubs would improve on that especially with characters that debuts in the super versions.
The depths of the game only go as far as you know the characters strengths and weaknesses. And how well you know your opponent. That also serves as the difficulty point no matter if you're playing with someone or a computer controlled AI. Of course not to mention of hard the bosses are which can be brutal if your not careful (*cough couch* Sagat *cough cough*) The game itself is great fun with friends and family if they are keen on fighters
I hope you guys n gals enjoy this this review. Feel free to point out any mistakes if there's any till the next review
HAPPY GAMING :) ;)

The game that set the standard for the fighting game scene by accident.   Azul Fria
OVERVIEW

Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior puts together 8 of the world's toughest fighters into a special tournament to see who is worthy to take on the 4 elite rulers of Shadoloo all for different reasons. Ryu from Japan wants to face strong opponents. Edmond Honda (E.Honda) from Japan wants to prove his students that he can hold his own in a fight. Blanka representing Brazil is a lost boy who mutated into a monster. Guile from USA is looking to avenge the death of his comrade, Charlie, at the hands of M. Bison/Vega. Ken  from USA is also looking for strong challenges. Chun Li from China wants to avenge the death of her father at the hands of M. Bison/Vega and she is a student of Gen from Street Figher 1. Zangief representing USSR at the time of the release wants to prove that Russia's wrestling is number one. Dhalsim from India is fighting on behalf of the starving children of his country.
There are four bosses in this game. One of them is Sagat from Thailand who was the final boss from the first Street Fighter and received his chest scar courtesy of Ryu's Dragon Punch. You fight him third during the boss battles. The other three are named depending on which region you are playing the game because Capcom wanted to avoid a potential lawsuit outside of Japan due to the striking resemblance and similar naming of one them to Mike Tyson. The first boss is the afformentioned Balrog/M. Bison from USA is a boxer who got kicked out of the profession for breaking the rules. He is the reason for the name change. He is no relation to Mike from Street Fighter 1. Vega/Balrog  from Spain is a masked fighter that attacks with his extended claw. The final boss is M. Bison/Vega who is an evil dictator who seeks world domination. The US branch of Capcom also thought Vega sounded like a weak name for a dictator.

GRAPHICS - A+
I mentioned this in a previous review on Street Fighter 1 where Ryu and Ken were palette swaps of each other. This time around they are head swaps. There are a lot of beautiful stages in the background. Dhalsim has elephants and orange carpentry all around the place. E. Honda's stage takes place in a bathhouse full of dripping water. Zangief's stage is inside the steel mill with his co-workers cheering him on. Ken is front of a cruise ship on a port. One thing I want to point out is that a change had to be made slightly in this stage because... initially, one of the passengers has his hand positioned in a way that makes him look like he was "milking the cow." It was changed to where he is keeping his hands away from himself. This got changed in a later version of SF2 but Balrog/M. Bison's character portrait looks just exactly like Mike Tyson. You just cannot unsee him. The special attacks also look cool. If you look closely, Ryu and Ken's Hadouken looks like a copy of their hands encased inside of a blue aura (red if a glitch occurs). The hurricane kick actually looks like they are spinning around this time instead of a choppy two frame animation. Another cool effect is when the opponent gets hit by Dhalsim's Yoga Fire and Yoga Flame where the opponent is burned all over in orange cinders. M. Bison's Psycho Crusher has the same effect except they are encased in blue cinders. Blanka's Electricity Attack gives off a shocking effect where you will see the opponent's flashing skeleton.

CONTROLS - A+

Compared to the first game, the controls are a whole lot better to work with. The attacks and special moves come out immediately whenever a button is pressed as opposed to coming out after the button was released. Every fighter has their own set of motion controls for special moves but there is more variety of how to do so including charging (holding the joystick down or away from the opponent) then moving it into the opposite direction towards the opponent or upwards before attacking. Other characters such as Zangief require strict timing to pull off their special moves because the Spinning Piledriver is not only the most damaging move in the game but it is also the most difficult move to do. If you do not do it right, you will end up jumping into the air. It's easier to start the motion while airborne but you must be on the ground by the time the motion is finished.

GAMEPLAY - A+

Now you may be wondering why I said that this game set the standard for fighting games by accident. It is all about the combos, baby. If not for them, the game would have probably flopped hard like the first game. When the game was first designed, the combos (a string of uninterrupted attacks in a row) were not supposed to be in the game. How the system was supposed to work is that, if an attack hits then the next hit would not register. That is similar to how the first game was like except that was more about the opponent getting pushed back when hit. We almost got a sexist game as well. With Chun Li being a woman, she was originally going to have a shorter lifebar than the men. In the end, she was given an equal amount of life as the rest. The game got more popular when it got ported to the Super Nintendo and had a code to play mirror matches (pitting characters against themselves) which was introduced in Street Fighter 2: Championship Edition. Too bad the code, didn't enable you to play as the four bosses like in Championship Edition but you did have access to secondary colors and the bosses would also end up using their colors from that game.

REPLAYABILITY - A+

There are 8 unique endings in the game which is one for each of the playable characters. The biggest challenge is trying to beat the game in 1 quarter or without losing a round. Doing so will show off the game's credits. The rewards are much better on the SNES because you can get higher rewards based on higher difficulty. If you play at lower difficulty then you will get just what you deserve, a general message encouraging you to beat the game at a higher level because you are not a warrior yet, just a beginner.

OVERALL - A+

Street Fighter 2 paved the way for more fighting games like Fatal Fury, King of Fighters, Darkstalkers, and Mortal Kombat. It is still influential today as the best Street Fighter set of the series. Street Fighter 3, 4, and 5 never got much a cult as this one did so that's why it is also my favorite set of games. I can't wait till Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers for the upcoming Nintendo Switch.

One of the best games ever made   NinjaX
Street Fighter 2 is the sequel to the first fighting game developed by Capcom.
Story: The 2nd World Tournament is announced as 8 fighters from around the globe enter to be the champion and take on the 4 fearsome Kings of a criminal organization known as the Shadaloo.
Graphics: Despite the game being out there for at least 20 years, the graphics still look really sharp and crispy sweet, the characters were much better designed this time around and quickly became one of the most well known video game characters of all time.
Sound: Nothing wrong with the sound, very effective and is heard at the right moments
Value: Even if you haven't been playing this for years, you'll still have a blast.  You will still be playing this game for many years to come, guaranteed.
Depth: The game has you against 7 out of the 8 selectable characters and 4 bosses.  It's a considerable amount of battles you must progress through, no doubt you'll be there for a little while.
Difficulty: The battles aren't very difficult save for the last 2 boss battles, which was a little disappointing, this results in the game being a little shorter than anticipated
Final thoughts: Street Fighter 2 has sparked the fighting game genre, for a good reason. Its great story, memorable characters, and game play up to near perfection.  No doubt a video game classic that will not soon be forgotten.

Ah one of the greatest games of all time   SuperCrash64
I figure I be the first to review this game so enjoy
Graphics - 10
When street fighter 2 came out  in the arcade and home consoles it had a cartoonist style of graphics regardless there very sharp and crisp the stages also have some neat detail .  even in blanka s stage it as clouds moving above and ryu s stage has a moon moving forward over and over again. Other words the graphics are cartoonist but rather in a good way
Sound - 10
street fighter had wacky sounds as well  such as shroyuken hadoken hurricane kick there are a  variety of sounds in  the game
Soundtrack the soundtrack is rather well done perhaps the best cap com has ever created its has a neat loop with lots of umph in it
Addictiveness  -8
its a good game its mainly the fighting strategies and   advantage s the fighters have over one another and the neat soundtrack that keeps it so fresh and addicting even today
Story - 5
sigh the fighting games always use some villain who tries to take over the world and you have to beat him sad that a lot of fighting games use this story so nothing new on story articles
Depth - 6
as I said in my street fighter 2 for snes review street fighter 2 only offers characters combos and stages they did not have hidden characters until later on in the series, s life  did not have a difficulty option because  this is the arcade original and the first street fighter 2
Difficulty-  5  no options for ai setting  and in general   I find the game  not really that hard
Final Verdict
the overall game is great  people even today still  call this game greatest game ever so this game gets a 9.8 its a  fantastic game that lead to one of the greatest series ever   thats it for this review
More reviews  coming soon
