Sonic CD review   mariosonic123
Sonic CD is the only great and memorable Sega CD game and it had pretty good and great reviews at the time and its still a memorable experience to the game however it is not the best game in the series and if you want to judge me play Sonic Pocket Adventure on Neo Geo Pocket color and see the experience for yourself, so this is my review and I have a lot to say about it even though I'm only a kid so let's get this started!!!
Graphics:9
I got to say Sonic CD had incredible graphics for It's time if you mean what I mean as in incredible. So the sprites in Sonic CD go back to the original Sonic the Hedgehog in every way, Gaming purists will go crazy for this edition however most gamers find it unappealing and nothing new or amazing put on the other hand, the background gives a nostalgic feeling that the world is falling into chaos and sets the mood for the entire and is truly memorable.
Sound:9
The sound is still original to the genesis games and every gamer will get into it and the sound got just as much feedback as Sonic 3D Blast although Sonic CD came first, every gamer, Even gaming purists will go crazy over this!!! The music I got to say is really catchy and the boss music is Scary!!! But even though the music is catchy it can get a little repetitive especially the future music.
Addictiveness:8
I gotta say, Sega did good to attract people to this game and It's likely I'm going to play again and again and again. But the Japanese advertised it better to increase not that I care of but the box art in the American version was kinda lame and was kinda a disappointment saleswise but It's otherwise good not that I care of.
Story:6
The story is decent but kinda lame, The story is that Robotnik has taken control of a time stone which controls the flow of time and thanks to that time stone, Robotnik expanded his army of robots by kidnapping flowers rather than animals which an even stranger fuel source, but he also created the Badnik we all know Metal Sonic to kidnap Amy Rose. And now Sonic has to rescue Amy and defeat M. Sonic and Dr. Robotnik. They should work on the storyline a little more to avoid this disappointing rating.
Depth:6
I know, disappointing, but I had to because of how much the zones have to offer, I know there's two new characters, a time attack and memory backup modes, but there's seven zones with 3 acts and a time travel mode, the positives are the time travel mode you can time travel between Past, Present, Good Future, and Bad Future, the only way to get a good future is if you destroy a projection of M. Sonic destroying the world in the past and By defeating an  certain type of enemy in the present to destroy a generator but otherwise ALL ZONES has something to do with metal and robots and that's it!
Difficulty:6
This is my biggest complaint ever, the difficulty is totally sparratic in most of the zones, the zones I recall that have a-okay difficulty is zones 1,2,and 3 and that's it, the other zones have random block and enemy placement, a lot of times, to take a path which you think It's fine and quick when you are really wasting time with a stupid path!!! In the final zone things get hard way too fast and It's non-linear and if you make it to the last act and the final boss, geez somebody who got this far knows what I'm talking about and It took away lots of lives just to defeat a small boss!!!
Overall Rating:8.9
Sonic CD Is a worthy successor to the genesis games, I loved playing through the game and figure everything out, there's even a full motion video for both the intro and ending, If it weren't for the crappy difficulty then it would've gotten a better rating so that's my review...

Sonic CD   UselessGoat

What's that fun little game that everyone had if you owned a

Sega Genesis?

Why, sonic of course! That speedy little blue fur-ball that saved forest animals
and defeated Doctor Eggman (or Robotnik, whatever floats your boat) numerable
times. Well he's back again in Sonic CD! Now when you first start up the game
and begin you'll notice a few things. First off, the soundtrack. Yes it's
badass at times, but I for one wasn't expecting that in a sonic game. When you get
to some enemies (who look completely different), what will come out of them
when you bash 'em?
Cute little animals? Noooo of course not. Flower seeds. Yeah. Once again,
wasn't expecting that. Well that's because it was made by a different
developer then the one who created Sonic The Hedgehog 2 and the original Sonic
The Hedgehog. So that explains most of the change. (But FLOWERS?!? I'm sorry
but come on!) But enough of the history lesson, let's look at actual the game itself.
??????????????????????????????
Graphics: 10
?The graphics are awesome. There's some 3D elements thrown into it, it's bright
and colorful, what more could you ask for? Definitely one of the better SCD
games that I've seen, so I gave it a solid 10.
?????????????????????????????
Sound: 8
The soundtrack is just alright in my opinion. Nothing overly catchy or special
like the Greenhill Zone theme that everyone knows by heart. (the boss themes
are quite funky and cool.) So though some may say that the soundtrack is
amazing and advanced, so I gave it an 8.

???????????????????????
Addictiveness: 6

I personally didn't find it very addictive and it's not exactly the type of
thing that I'd pick up and play to death. It is a very fun game however, just
to me it doesn't have the replay value of say, Mega man 2 or Super Castlevania
4.

????????????????????????????????????
Story: 6
The main plot in Sonic CD is that Sonic arrives on a planet called 'Little
Planet' andhe sees that Doctor Robotnik has completely made it into a robot
wonderland!
Sonic's girlhog , Amy Rose, get's taken by Metal Sonic (very creative
name....), the robot version of sonic and the story goes from there. Not overly
deep, but at least there is one.
????????????????????????????????????????
Depth: 9
There's lots of things you can do and places and minigames to explore. You can
even mess around with the Sound Test on the menu screen to unlock different
modes, artwork, and some really scary message from the Devil himself! So I think
an 8.5 -9 would be good.

?

(Code to get to the Sound test is : At the title screen,

press: Down, Down, Down, Left, Right, A)

(Scary Devil Screen Code: FM no.46, PCM no. 12, DA no.

25? then press start)
?????????????????????????????
Difficulty: 6
I didn't find it very hard at all. At certain times it was, but most of
the time the hardest part was figuring out where to go. On some levels
I'd just get completely turned around, though it could just be me.
???????????????????????????????
Overall: 8.7
I found the game fun, colorful, and new and it was exciting to play for awhile.
Some things could have been explained better, like the 'Future' and 'Past'
signs (I still have no clue as to what their purpose is.), and some things
could have been changed (THE FLOWERS!!!), but overall I think that it's an easy
game that anyone could pick up and play.

Stop! Review time!   HighspeedShade
Ahh...Sonic CD, by far my Favorite Sonic game, I didn't had a Sega / Mega CD, but played it at the Sonic Gems Collection...so yeah, PAL with US sountrack, but anyways, I'm not here to review Gems Collection, but Sonic CD! Wooh!
Graphics: 6
Well, most of the sprites are ripped off from Sonic 1, but there are new ones, such as Super Peel Out sprites, and Mini Sonic sprites!
Sound: 10
I LOVE the music in Sonic CD, its great! But I preffer the Japanese sountrack over the US soundtrack...it gave me nightmares a a kid. (Talking about Boss music and Game Over...)
But still, its great!
Addictiveness: 8
I would replay the game all over again, but though, it lacks some replay value...it seriously lacks...but as I say again, I would replay it.
Story: 9
It's awesome, but a little copy cat-ish. I'll explain it.
Sonic heard about the rumors of a mysterious planet appearing above the Never Lake, a minature planet where the time flows freely, thanks to the Time Stones, as heard so, Sonic ran to the Never Lake, only to see the Little Planet covered in a metallic shell, and connected by a chain to the ground, and so, Sonic ran by the huge chain to the Little Planet. Enter: Amy Rose, who, also, is on Little Planet, as a tarrot card "fortune telled" Amy that she will meet with Sonic there, and right then, Metal Sonic kidnaps Amy! And so, Sonic must collect Time Stones, destroy the generators in the Past, defeat Metal Sonic and Robotnik (Didn't had any idea where to put Robotnik) and save Amy and the Little Planet!
Alright...time to explain why its a little copy cat-ish. Sonic must rescue a damsel-in-distress (Mario Bros. and Legend of Zelda anyone?) and defeat the evil...and why only a little copy cat-ish? Amy isn't a princess, Sonic must defeat Robotnik and Metal Sonic, not some weird creatures. And not the land, but a PLANET.
Depth: 5
As I explained before, theres no replay value, so you only need to complete the game once, and vu-a-la. BUT! There are 3 endings.
Bad Ending: Destroy only a couple of generators and/or collect less than 7 Time Stones
Good Ending: Destroy all the generators in the past, or just collect all the Time Stones.
Best Ending: Destroy all the generators and collect all the Time Stones.
Difficulty: 4
The game isn't so difficult, especially the bosses, but there is one boss that is challenging...Metal Sonic.
Every jump must be precise, you must run at the full speed, and don't let Metal Sonic get first, but thats only one boss.
The other variant about difficulty is time travel, you must hit a post and run at the maximum speed for 5 seconds to travel, easy, huh?
Actually, no, enter: level design/item placement, it makes it hard for you to time travel, for example, you are about to time travel, BOOM! You hit a wall, item box, etc. So its hard to time travel, but there are places that are just made for time travel, for example: a flat pathway with springs at the both ends, you run, run, run, and time travel!
Also, special stages are a little hard, its full pseudo-3D, not a half-pipe like what you got in Sonic 2, and when you run on water, you lose 10 seconds, and after Sonic runs too fast, it makes it harder, and harder, to hit the UFOs, so yeah...
Alright, that makes it for my review, and my overall rating is: 9.9!

Sonic CD review!   G@mehe@d
This game is either overrated or underrated. I have an opinion in between, so you can get ACCURATE INFO.
GAMEPLAY B: I know some of you are going to KILL me for rating the gameplay a little lower then you expected. Here's the thing though, the gameplay would have been A material or even A+ material if it were not for the EXTREMELY CRAPPY level design of this game. Seriously was Sonic Team drunk when they designed these levels! because these level designs are pretty bad. Same problem with Knuckles Chaotix which had poor level designs. To be fair though the game had several innovations. For one there was a time travel mechanic that allowed Sonic to travel to the future, past, and present. It would have been great if you don't have to run full speed for 5 seconds. It seems easy, but because of the poor level designs, means that it's really hard.
Also there's 3D special stages. No not the lame choppy half pipe special stages in Sonic 2, but instead you have fully 3D special stages. They look like something that you would get on a Super Nintendo.
GRAPHICS A-: Despite the extremely grainy and choppy "mini cartoon" as displayed on the box. The graphics are generally pretty good, the backgrounds are colorful and imaginative.
SOUND B+: I LOVE the japanesse soundtrack of this game. However the american soundtrack is not the best and it can give nightmares to some people.
ADDICTIVENESS A+: In most games I rate the section high and I did again with this game. The game is exciting and fun and its definitely going to kill some time.
DEPTH D: I was extremely angry when I saw the amount of levels that are in this game, especially when the box said 40 FREAKING LEVELS. Sega was cheap though and they counted the different time periods of each level. Another thing was that this game was on a CD! Shouldn't there be MORE levels.
DIFFICULTY MEDIUM HARD: The poor level design makes this game a bit of a challenge. So if you want a challenging Sonic game. Play Sonic CD!
OVERALL RATING B+

Sonic CD: A blast from the past, and to the future!   Manifester
Sonic CD, I never played this on the Sega CD, since I didn't own one, but, I have played Sonic CD on the Game cube disc, Sonic Gems. I loved this game from the start, as it introduced one of my favorite Sonic villains ever, Hyper Metal Sonic! This enemy was a beast, designed by Dr. Robotnik to be exactly like Sonic in every way, shape, and form! Except of course, being a hero. Another character in this game is Amy Rose! Sonic's "girlfriend" as she likes to call herself. And excluded character from this game would be Miles "Tails" Prower, whom was put into Sonic 2.
Now, onto the graphics. I find these graphics to be good, since the game was made in the 90's, and some of the coolest graphics I found in this game to be the 3D graphics of the special stages, and somewhat 3D graphics of Sonic running up the sides of hills! Another great thing about this game is the introduction, the Sonic Boom song is amazing in my opinion, and the animation was amazing as well.
Moving onto sounds, I loved the sounds. I personally, am somewhat addicted to Sonic music, cause it is so great, in my opinion, of course, there are some repetitive sounds that annoy me, along with the ring collecting noise which is running through every Sonic game, and having played, almost all of them, it gets a little stuck in your head. Now, addictiveness, I can play this game upon hours, upon days. And with so many different paths to take, (literally, each level can let you go into the past, or future), I always like to go back through the game to see which levels looked which way, and it was always hard for me to get the Time Crystals that you had to collect to get the good ending.
Now, for Story, I especially like. The story is, from what I've read from the manual, is that Sonic and Amy go to the lake to see the "Little Planet" come out from it. Little Planet is sort of like the moon, although it comes out from the lake, instead of being in space, and it comes out once in a blue moon. Now Robotnik, decides to chain up little planet and keep it above ground, which is...bad? I guess, and Sonic's objective is to stop Robotnik. But alas, Metal Sonic makes his first appearance in the first level, where he kidnaps Amy, and runs off with her. Sonic is then having two objectives, stopping Robotnik, and saving Amy Rose.
Depth, is rather neat too, as I said earlier, you can go into the past, or future of each level. The past is pleasant, set in where Robotnik hasn't visited the planet yet, but of course, it wouldn't make sense for the past based part of the level to not have badniks. (Actually, that would make more sense.) While the future, is set in an era of if Sonic hadn't saved Little Planet from Robotnik, and if Robotnik had taken over the planet, and made it a post-apocalyptic wasteland. There are plenty of levels for you to spend your hours and hours controlling Sonic and making him run around like a hamster on a wheel. But on a mission.
Now, for difficulty, I wouldn't say this game is TOO hard, but it isn't TOO easy either. My first time playing Sonic CD, I had troubles with the first boss of the game...and many of the others. I had the most problems with Metal Sonic though, whom I guess is more of a mini-boss. Either way, you race Metal Sonic in the area which is where you battle Metal Sonic in Sonic Generations for the Chaos Emerald. Except with Metal Sonic in CD, he can really only boost, and start flashing yellow like he was trying to go Super, but failing. Miserably. At the end of the level, whomever makes it past the finish line of course wins, and the loser is trapped behind an impenetrable wall, and then gets blasted by a laser provided by the fat, egg shaped doctor himself.
Overall, I love this game. Maybe it's just my bias for Sonic games that made me give this game such a good rating, but I'd always had good memories with Sonic games, and this one as well. There are a lot of cool little Easter eggs in this game as well. I won't spoil them, but I'll just say they're worth looking for...well, almost all of them. Well, that's my review for the hit game, Sonic CD!

Sonic CD Review   THEKILLERJUNKER
Ah… Sonic the Hedgehog; a character that hasn’t been the same for the past 10 years. That’s the sad truth; for every good game for Sonic comes a terrible one. There’s Sonic R, Sonic unleashed, Sonic and the Black Knight, Sonic the Hedgehog (2006 game); need I say more? Sure he still is popular, but he simply doesn’t have the following as let’s say Mario or the Master Chief. Over the years, he’s gone downhill due to a lack of good games for the character. But in the beginning, it was a totally different story. Back in the 80’s the craze was Mario and for a while, it stayed like that. Then SEGA released their answer to Nintendo’s mascot: Sonic. All of a sudden Mario was looked at as some mere slowpoke in comparison to this new rival. And soon, a bitter rivalry was ensued to see who the better one was. But over the years, Sonic’s popularity began to wane. The original Sonic had great characters. There was Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Robotnik, and Mecha Sonic. Then SEGA made Amy. Then Shadow, Silver, Big (yes that’s his name), Scrooge, a grandfather for Robotnik, a bat with boo…………. WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED?!?! Sonic was like a king of the videogame industry, and then that all vanished. And it wasn’t just the boatload of characters that ruined Sonic’s image but SEGA’s decisions as well.
When SEGA released the SEGA CD in 1991, the company’s image was beginning to wane. The SEGA CD was made by SEGA as a way for the company to answer Nintendo’s aggressive marketing with their console, the Super Nintendo. SEGA hoped that the system would achieve big and help the tiring Genesis. Instead, the system is remembered for what it didn’t achieve. The system’s sales were not what SEGA had hoped for and the console’s demise, along with the 32x, are considered by many to be the reason why the SEGA Saturn failed, as did the Dreamcast , forcing SEGA to leave the video game console market for good. Today, the CD is remembered as nothing more than a curious piece of history. But the system wasn’t a total failure. This system helped pioneer the use of CD’s instead of cartridges, and full motion video in video games. And despite an onslaught of bad games for the Sega CD like Night Trap and Sewer Shark, there still are a handful of great games for the system. One of those games is what many SEGA fans consider to be the greatest Sonic game ever created by the company: Sonic CD. As the title suggests this review is for that very game. The real question is: does this game still hold the title as the “Best Sonic game ever made”? We shall see.
GRAPHICS: 10
For the time Nintendo just released Super Mario World for their system. The graphics were a real step forward from the NES graphics, and it was overall great to see the environment. But then this game came and it just slaughtered the Super Nintendo’s graphics. The graphics for this game where amazing, and some of the best ever made for the SEGA Genesis. Everything breathed creativity. Sonic and the other characters were amazing to look at, and all the enemies were incredibly cool looking. They each had their own cool design and all of them had memorable looks to them. Robotnik’s vehicles are also breathtaking to look at and they each have a very cool and creative look to them. The stages also have great environments and are all different in their own way of navigating through the level as Sonic or Tails. But aren’t I forgetting something? How could I be rude and forget the introduction of one of the most popular characters in the Sonic universe: Mecha Sonic. All I can say is….. WOW. Everything about this robot says “I’m going to slit your neck and make a mess of you! Come get some!!!” This is one of the meanest robotic monstrosities I’ve ever seen. Mecha Sonic is the equivalent of the Terminator T-800. No contest. To be concluded, this game has amazing graphics in comparison to other SEGA Genesis games. And the introduction of a new character only further cements the graphics as one of the best for the system. This is why this game gets a 10 for its graphics.
SOUND: 9
Everyone knows perfectly well that the SEGA Genesis never had that good of a sound or music system in comparison to the Super Nintendo. Sonic’s music on the Genesis has never really been as appealing as any of the Mario games on the SNES. Don’t get me wrong it’s still really good, but not AS good. This game on the other hand has an amazing source of sounds. The sounds are really good for the system, each having an impact on the game’s feeling. The music for all the stages is incredibly well done and the boss music is amazing hands down. Even the menu music is great to listen to. Also, THE GENESIS CAN SING! OH MY GOD!!! Never have I heard music that good from the Genesis. For the first time I actually find the Genesis to be superior to the Super Nintendo with the music. For a game this old, it was amazing to hear this on a console that supposedly reeked in overall expectations. The music was amazing and still holds up to a pretty good soundtrack for a Sonic game. This soundtrack is great for that of a 16 bit system. I’d even go as far as to say that it reaches the quality of arcade machines when it comes to music. This is gaming at its finest. From me comes a 9 for the game’s sound.
ADDICTIVNESS: 8
Many games for the SEGA CD aren’t that addicting and will usually leave you turning off your system. Most of the SEGA CD’s games were the point and click or quick reaction type of game. One of the reasons why the CD failed was because of its short genre of games. The system lacked plat formers and first person shooters in its library; games that would have been a success for the SEGA CD. Many of the system’s games are simply downright boring. This game is the exact opposite. It is among one of the only good games for the SEGA CD that will keep you coming for more. The game offers you immense possibilities for a plat former. Besides this game being a fun plat former, it also has a trick up its sleeve. You know how Mario has the Warp whistle or Warp pipe? Well this game gives you the chance to enter a different time period! There is Past, Present, and finally Future. This can happen in any level regardless of progression. Being Sonic, you simply run through a sign that says Past or Future. After doing that you run as fast as you can and once you pick up the pick up the right speed and the screen goes right. Wait a few seconds and you get transported to your new destination. Both of them are different from one another. In the past you have these lush forest landscapes with a smaller amount of enemies to kill. In the future, you navigate through a ruined Mobius with waterfalls and rivers filled with oil and a post-apocalyptic feeling to it. The only thing that stays the same is the overall construction of the level; same design and same enemies. Because of this, the game adds for a rather huge addiction, not to mention, a great selection of enemies and bosses. This game gets far from stale and is one of the only games for the SEGA CD that is worth replaying. So that leaves me with my score: 8.
STORY: 5
Wouldn’t you think that SEGA would have known better than to give Sonic a love interest? Nope. SEGA’s answer to Princess Peach is Amy Rose, a character of equal annoyance. The story is incredibly stereotypical. Don’t believe me? Here’s more than enough proof. Sonic has spent a long time recovering from his last battle with the evil tyrant Robotnik (Sonic and Knuckles). But things make a turn for the worst once Robotnik recovers also and builds another empire in hopes of taking over the forest of Mobius with his robotic army. Sonic realizes the danger of such a vision and sets off after Robotnik. On his way there, he meets up with Amy Rose, his love interest. Not long after their meeting, Sonic sees a metallic blue robot in the sky. Little does he know that it’s Mecha Sonic. Without warning, the robot dives down and snatches Amy, taking her with him. Now it’s up to Sonic to destroy Robotnik’s army and save his damsel in distress. That’s the story. While it is kind of interesting, it still is plagued with the one thing that kills it. It’s another “Save the princess or damsel in distress” scenario. It’s nothing special. 5 points. NEXT!
DEPTH: 8
When it comes to most plat formers, there usually isn’t that much depth in the game. It’s a point A to point B experience. Most of the time, there is no real difficulty when it comes to this genre. But if there’s something that the Sonic series has managed to keep fresh, it’s the depth. This game is incredibly good with that. Instead of a stereotypical plat former, where you have to make it to the other end in one piece, this game offers a wide range of things to do in each level. The game has a huge amount of enemies to take down and you also have the timer. One of the cool things about the old Sonic games was to see just how fast you could go from one level. Because of Sonic’s speed, this game can be really fun to play. Sonic’s speed plays an important role when it comes to beating a level, especially when it comes to going through loops or those quick time moments. His spin attack can also come to incredible use and without it; the game would be much harder than it already is. Each enemy has their own weakness. Some can’t be jumped on while others can’t be broken using your spin attack. The bosses also require strategy and thought before you attack. So with this game there is an incredible amount of depth; it doesn’t just have the same enemies over and over, nor does it use the same bosses like how Mario used Boom Boom in Super Mario 3 (yes that’s his name). This game for me is filled with depth which is why it gets a high score of 8.
Difficulty: 7
With many plat formers, the difficulty is rather stale, and the game is easy to beat. This game is far from easy. While it isn’t as difficult as Sonic 3, it’s still up there. Besides the usual enemies, spikes, and pits, you also have quick time moment where Sonic’s speed isn’t just for fun, but a necessity if you want to beat the game. The bosses also add up to the difficulty of the game. The bosses range from easy to incredibly challenging. There is no difficulty setting so for those pro gamers, I suggest you stay away from this game. This is meant for the more casual type of gamer: the type of guy who’s sitting around with their friends with a coke or beer in their lap having a good time. While it isn’t difficult to the part where it’s frustrating, it is not too far from there. There is also a punishment for the gamer if he/she leaves Sonic idle and forgets to pause the game. Sonic sits there and waits…… After three minutes he yells “I’m outta here!” and jumps off the level. You are then greeted by a GAME OVER screen and have to start ALL the way back to the beginning regardless of how many lives you had or how far you have managed to progressed. This can really sour your mood, but this rarely happens as the pause button has been a mainstay for the video game industry for a good 20 years. So for me comes a 7 for the difficulty.
Overall: 9.5
This game is one of the very few games that keep the SEGA CD from going completely rotten. This is a must have for any Sonic fan or any SEGA CD owner. If you can’t afford a SEGA CD, then you can always purchase the game on STEAM or Wii Shop. But despite this good game, it wasn’t enough to save the SEGA CD and help SEGA get the boost they originally intended. And it would have happened to any other company as well. If Nintendo had made that mistake, the same thing would have happened regardless of the Super Nintendo’s success. And while this might be the last good 2-D Sonic game to have come out, I’ll take it. Despite the how Sonic games are now, they can’t reflect on the success of the original games. My final verdict is a fresh 9.5/10. This game is far from boring and will keep you entertained until the very end. This game will keep you coming for more! Enjoy and HAPPY GAMING!!!

Sonic CD Review   mlb789
Believe it or not, I had never heard of the Sega CD system until it came to vizzed.  When I decided to play this game, it opened me to a new world of sonic I had never seen, as I had only played Generations and DX.  Sonic CD was released in 1993 by sega, and was the third sonic game released.  In this game, you meet two new characters in the form of Amy Rose and Metal Sonic.  During the game, Amy gets caught by Metal Sonic and has to be saved by Sonic himself.  Also included in this game is the time travel system.  The four different types of time in the game change the level entirely while you play it.  This allows for a whole new dimension of gaming sonic fans had never experienced.

Graphics 6:  The graphics in this game are bad, but compared to the system, they are pretty average.  The graphics from the Sega CD seem to be rough for all games, but some are smoother than others.  A plus for the graphics in this game comes from how they can change depending on what "time period" you are in.  This allows for graphical variation not seen in other games.

Sound 7:  The sounds in this game are pretty good, but sometimes they can get repetitive.  For example, you might think that the jumping and coin collecting sounds are good, until you hear them enough times that you have to turn the volume all the way down on your computer.r  The music in this game, on the other hand, is very good and helps out the sound department.
Addictiveness 8:  This being my first time playing an older sonic game, I think this is rated a little low compared to others' opinions.  With that said though, I would be willing to sit down for a few hours at a time and beat the game over and over again if it wasn't for my other obligations.  You should have no trouble losing hours in to this game.

Story 6:  The "story" in this game is that Sonic has to save Amy from Metal Sonic, so it isn't exactly an "original" story (Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Bros.).  The only different thing about this story is how there isn't a "princess", and that Sonic also has to save a world while he's at it.  Whoop-De-Do.
Depth 8:  This game is pretty long and took me a while to beat.  I also found it fun that I could go back and see how much faster I could beat the game.  The main fact that it has a points system confirms that you can do a lot in this game.
Difficulty 3:  This game isn't all that difficult, but I did run in to a few spots that I had a little trouble on.  Nevertheless, you should still have an easy time with this game.
Overall: 7.6:  Being the first game I ever played on the Sega CD system, I am pretty satisfied by how the game works.  This game offers a whole new spin on sonic that I didn't even know existed.  Anyone who has played a Sonic game or wants to play a Sonic game should play this game.

Sonic CD   epic guy4000
Overall:10
Sonic CD is a wonderful game and takes place before Sonic 4 Episode 1. This game is fun :).
Graphics:9
The game had the same overall graphics from Sonic 1.
But still pretty good.
Sound:10
Soundtrack is fantastic, Only downside was the boss music. Creepy but surprisingly good because
you rarely would see this in a Sonic game.
Addictiveness:10
I would personalty play this game a few times a year before it out dates because its a really great game.
Story:9
The story was about Sonic and Amy go see a little planet that comes once a year. But Dr.Eggman (or Robotnik)
chained little planet to the Mountain. Sonic must go to the planet and stop Dr.Eggman from steeling all 7 times stones.
The planet that Sonic is going isn't just a planet. This little planet is a place that defies time.
Pretty genius story. But isn't perfect.
Depth:10
This game offered a lot of new stuff at it's time.
New Music
A New super peel out
New style of the spin dash
and
New Stages.
Difficulty:4
Reason is because you might not know what you did when you traveled through time
and might get lost. But overall it isn't hard.

Sonic CD Is A Blast   SonicFan2013
This is a game that I gave and overall as 10! This is one of my favorite games ever! I say the graphics  was 8. It was great but not like great like I have to put a 10. The story was a 9 because it was a great story but it doesn't tell you. The story was about when Sonic walked into Amy Rose in her first appearance, Metal Sonic in his first appearance kidnapped Amy. Sonic has to go rescue her from Metal Sonic And his master, Dr.Robotank. After Sonic saves Amy, He will go defeat Robotnik once and for all. The sound was really perfect so I gave it a 10. The difficulty was 5 because it wasn't so hard. That is the review! Thanks for reading!

I think this game is just plain great. The soundtracks, the graphics, even the special stages! But what I like best is collecting Time Stones and getting good endings. The level layout is eh, OK, I guess. The US Boss Music might creep someone out, but I'm used to something that laughs in my ears and has creepy instruments playing.
There are some secrets, though. Just press Down Down Down, Left ,Right, and A, on the title screen to get Sound Test.
46 12 25 = A screen with Sonic, but with a deformed and creepy face. Also, white Japanese letters that are translated into "Fun Is Infinite - Sega Enterprises - Majin,"
Ok, that's all I can say. If you want more from me, I will be happy to post comments.

Sonic CD? OH YEAH!   sonicfan253
Sonic CD...OH YEAH! That's the awesome game from the Sega CD! This game was amazing to me. I grew up in the era of gamecubes and gameboys, so I missed out on my chance to get this game. For a few years, I longed to play this game.
Suddenly, I was browsing on Vizzed, and I found the game. I nearly squealed with joy and began playing. I had seen videos of the game, but it was nothing like playing it!
The game is very fun. It contains elements from past Sonic games. It plays a bit different, however. Sonic can travel through time, which changes the difficulty of the level and allows him to destroy the robot generators, which earns you a good future. (An easier version of Act 3.)
Instead of Chaos Emeralds, you get Time Stones...uh...what? Don't worry! They work just like chaos emeralds, except you can't go all super dragonball.
The graphics are amazing, and were probably ahead of it's time. Sonic looks as blue as ever!
The sound is good. I like the addition of new sound effects, as well as the classic ones, too. However, I love the European/Japanese soundtrack the best. Sure, the USA edition has cool instruments and stuff, but it just doesn't fit. Now, I have no idea what the heck the USA composers were smoking when they made that horrifying boss theme.  O.o
The Japanese soundtrack stays true to the original games.
The story is simple. Eggman (or Robotnik, whatever.) gets really mad at Sonic after being defeated twice. He builds a faster, newer METAL SONIC! Dah dah dahhhhhh! and hooks Little Planet to a chain and attaches it to earth to keep it from disappearing again. Then, Sonic arrives with his friend Amy Rose. Metal Sonic captures Amy. Shock. And Sonic is off to save the day! A pretty creative story if you ask me.
Overall, this game is challenging, amazing, fun, and cool! Play it now! That's right, now!
-Sonicfan253
(Psst! On the title screen, press Down, Down, Down, Left, Right, A. You will be brought to the sound test screen! Enter FM46, PCM12, and DA25 and press Start. You'll get a big surprise...have fun sleeping. >:)

Sonic CD: The Review   PepsiDude
We have year 1993. The Sega CD cames out to store shelfs. The console is not very popular and many people hated it. But one game was stuck in people's minds. The Sonic CD. Sonic CD was amazing with it's all features, such as Time Travel, this "I'm outta here" thing and more. Also, two new characters were added to the game, and many people know this characters. They are Metal Sonic and Amy Rose. The game is just...wow. So how i feel about this game? Let's take a look!
Graphics: 8: Well, for it's time, the game looked amazing! Maybe in this times, the game is not looking as amazing as before, but the graphics are still nice to look! Sonic sprites, well, they look like the Sonic 1 ones. But the game is colorfull, and nice to look.
Sound: 10: The music sounds brilliant! I really love the soundtrack for this game, because it's great to ears! Well, maybe not the Boss Theme from the US version, but other songs are amazing! My favorite song is Sonic Boom. What's yours?
Story: 5: Well, the story in this game was meh... The story basiclly goes like this: Sonic needs to save the world, Amy pops out and hugs Sonic, he escapes but meets her again in the second stage (forgot the name) while then, Metal Sonic kidnappes Amy, and so, Sonic needs to save her and save the world. Sonic saves Amy and defeats Eggman. The End.
Addictiveness: 9: Found this game very enjoyable, and it was kinda hard to beat, but still, i loved the game. Still had fun to beat records on stages i passed, finding the Sound Test secrets (even the scary message), and more...
Difficulty: 7: Like i said before, it's a kinda hard game, like any other Retro Sonic games, but it wasn't really that hard game. There are harder games out there. So this is why i rated the difficulty on 7.
Depth: 7: Game is big and has alot of mechanics in stages. I love the Time Travel mechanic, because i love the time travelling. Other mechanics are great too, so yeah...
Overall: 9,4: Yeah, so Sonic CD maybe is not "the best Sonic game" out there, but it is not also bad. Music sounds great, graphics are colorfull and many, many more.
That's all for this review. Thanks for reading and have a nice day!

best sonic game ever   killkenny500
This is one of the best sonic games I've ever played
the colors, the graphics, and a few 3D like environments, and the awesome music
this is the best sonic game I ever played...but the sad part is its on Sega CD which not everyone seem to have a Sega CD back in the day because it was expensive + the technology was just wasn't their until the later 90s (1995-2000)
thanks for the HD remake on PS3/360 but sonic CD is not perfect without a Sega CD with the Sega GENESIS controller :(
now this game is fairly easy
even though the stages are wild & huge but basic sonic side-scrolling adventure but it very easy to beat but later it got REALLY hard when you when race against metal sonic & the final stages
my favorite stages will be stardust speedway
this game was since 1993 before sonic 3 & knuckles
2 new characters were 1st included to this game
AMY rose the hedgehog (also known as rosy the rascal) - sonic girlfriend which she looks very different than the AMY today
METAL SONIC - metal sonic have never changed since and he will always love to battle race sonic and see who is the fastest & strongest
the story goes like this
Amy wants to find sonic until she's been captured by METAL SONIC so now sonic have to save her before dr.robotank turns her into a robot
BUT actually he wants to use metal sonic as a test to see if he can easily beat sonic
if sonic wins, Amy will be saved, sonic will have to continue beating dr.robotank and save the world
if metal sonic wins, Amy will be turned into a robot, sonic will die, robotnik will rule the world
this is also another one of those sonic games that did not include the chaos emeralds
instead of chaos emerald you will use TIME STONES this time...and why do you need time stones...to CHANGE TIME
oh yeah speaking of changing time there are little POLES that either says FUTURE or PAST
if you touch these poles and go as fast as possible without getting blocks or hit
you can change time which the stages will be slightly different
that was pretty cool what they have did there
ok that is all i have to say for this game
its very similar to sonic 1 but better
its sonic CD
so go ahead & try it out :D

Back on Little Planet, Eggman still want's to take over. But this time he is changing time it self. He is trying to change the future, That's really  wrong. Sonic won't stand for it. Play as Sonic while he takes part into a time bending quest. Run, dash, and travel in time to stop eggman and his new master piece: Metal Sonic. Everyone knows about Sonic, how serious he is about 10 minutes for each zone from the previous games. This time 10 minutes is nothing anymore, except he doesn't want to stand around and what for you to get out of the bathroom or make a sandwich. After 3 minutes of not using the controller he will say I'm outta here and jump of the screen. Just because your lazy enough to press pause.  Sonic is going all out on this new adventure to save little planet, Amy, and defeat egg-man. The fate of little planet depends on him. This game includes features like beginning and ending cut scenes, Japanese and American soundtracks, two different choosable ways to spin dash, and tails as an unlockable character. Epic game from 1994.

The Blue CD   MechaMento
Welcome readers, I am MechaMento with another brand new review on a not so brand new game. Today I will be the critic towards the game Sonic CD for no other than the Sega CD. Be sure to read the whole review and after you can give me praise, or criticism depending on how well you think I did.
Sonic CD
Why I Played This
To be honest I had never heard of the Sega CD, only the Mega Drive (Genesis) and Game Gear which were both passed down to me from my parents. I have been a rather big fan of Sonic the Hedgehog, though not because I was good at it because I was certainly not! I hated all of the modern Sonic games, I hated his appearance character and the fact that the games was a 3D platformers. I had to search for remakes of the classic 2D platformers on the Xbox Live Arcade and to my surprise there was a game I was yet to of heard of that being, Sonic CD. Before I knew of Vizzed I just went and got the trial since I did not want to pay for a game I had no idea about. But when I did find vizzed I went along to purchase the game, without question.
Graphics
During my time on Vizzed, I have also played other Sega CD titles. There are many great entries to the system with fantastic graphics and Sonic CD is not excluded from the list. Sega put a lot of effort into improving the graphics engine from the original Sonic the Hedgehog and the final product was more than expected. Most of the sprites were kept the same style design as the original but smoothed out a little more so it was almost like a HD version of the original. I am very pleased they kept the style of sprites similar to the original, it kept the same loving feel that all Sonic fans loved in the first Sonic title and encouraged them to keep buying Sega products.
I may of gave this game a lot of praise for its graphics but you may notice I rated the Graphics 8 rather than 9 or 10. There is a good reason to it as well, and we have to compare it to the less powerful console, the Sega Mega Drive (Genesis). Now not often do I compare the graphics to a different console since it is not fair, but I have a decent point, to well... Point out. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Mega Drive was, in my opinion, better designed  than Sonic CD. The whole game layout was better, and the bonus stages can almost be compared with games on the Nintendo 64! However Sonic the Hedgehog 2 may of came out a little while after Sonic CD but let's be honest it puts the Sega CD to shame if a cartridge has better graphics.
Sound
When you boot up Sonic CD you are greeted with the game's soundtrack "Sonic Boom". Due to Sonic CD being a CD based game, the sound quality was a generation ahead of all of the rival cartridge consoles. The great sound at vinyl quality continues through out the game so it is not a game, like for instance pokemon, where I would mute the volume when playing the game. The soundtrack never stays the same, by that I mean there is not many levels that hold the same music to another level. For instance the game Super Mario World 2, Yoshi's Island, the game music is the same for every level so you would just get fed up with the song, Sonic CD is not anything like that so everything entering my ears is fresh!
Depth
There is a lot that Sega offer in Sonic CD and out of all of the Sega CD games I have played, this one has to be the most compact. Levels stretch on for decent lengths. They are not too short to complete in less than a minute (that is when not doing a speedrun) but not too long to lose the players interest. To add on to the fact that the levels are long, you can travel back and forwards in time in the levels to experience what like in the past and future in the world Sonic! The bonus stages are very fun and they can range into various engaging events. There are also some hidden features and easter eggs you can access via sound test mode, including the dreaded creepy message apparently stating "Fun is Infinite, Sega Enterprise." not so creepy, but at the bottom it is meant to be signed by saturn himself! This game is big, really big and that is why it deserves a 10 for its depth and it remains as one of the biggest sonic games produced!
I hope you enjoyed my review. Be sure to rate, comment or give me any feedback you want, whether that be praise or criticism! Thank for reading, I consider your effort for engaging throughout the whole review. If you have any suggestions do tell me and you are most like to get what you requested.

sonic cd   sonicman120
This game is a really good one so let's start this review! The reason the graphics are seven is because they are a little scratchy. How I know is because eve played some other Sega Cd games on vizzed. For example when you do the super peel out you can see the pixel like look of it. Now on to the sound. I really like the sound of this game. I like every single song this game has to offer. Since sound didn't get a ten here is a couple of reasons why. This might not happen to you but it happened to me. When I finish a special stage the jump sound is the special stage jump sound and when you use the super peel out or spin dash the sound is just so annoying that I can't even explain it! This game is so addictive that I just can't stop playing it! Because once you play it you'll never go back. On to the story! The story is where sonic has to stop Dr.Eggman aka Dr.robotnik of how ever you spell it from chaining down little planet and stop him from corrupting the futures of the places and get the time stones. I gave the depth a four because the game only has seven levels. If those deleted levels were in the game I would of rated it higher. This game is not hard. It's just not the hard type of game. So that overall is a ten because the game is really good. Catch ya later!

Whats so Cool About Sonic CD?   raichu360
All my friends is all ways talking about Sonic (Classic). Few days later they was talking about Vizzed having a new Sonic game. It was called Sonic CD. I played it was a lot of fun, kind of hard at the end and there's a cartoon of Sonic CD. (You have to have the Sega CD to see it.) This Sonic game back in its kind there was no game systems with a game disc drive. Sega made one they was happy so they made a Sonic game that will be better than ever because they kind of made the picture clear like it was in HD. This is a Sonic game that you can not miss out on. Sega got kind of luckily because in United Kingdom they had the game for $129.09. They changed the cost for the game after they got beaten by Nintendo.Sonic CD is all so on XBOX 360 and the game gotta lot more funner. There was no errors or crashes when I played it also there's nothing wrong with the animations and game graphics. I rate this game 10 but if go to 100, I go there. Sonic CD is the most funnest Sonic game since Sonic 1,2,3,and some others. The music is not a problem. If you play the game...YOU WILL LOVE IT!     This Review is by the One and Only: Raichu360!

Sonic CD   ross4587
It was only until recent times that I heard of this game, back in the day, Sega CD technology wasn't to everyone's taste and was so expensive, hence why I didn't really hear of this much before. But to play this game is to find out a few additional features of a Sonic 2D game. In this game, time can be altered by means of going through specific time posts, something not evident in other early Sonic releases. You can go to the past or you can go to the future. The sort of future Sonic experiences will depend on the destruction of a mechanism within a level designed to change time. A good future can be achieved by destroying a mechanism found in the past (complicated, I know, its a time thing, but it must be done for a favourable outcome). Sonic's objective is to try to save Amy Rose, make her debut in the Sonic world, from being roboticized by Dr. Eggman, once again trying to dominate the entire planet. Amy will be captured by Metal Sonic, also a first timer in Sonic games, and Sonic will have to fight head to toe with this latest Eggman creation to achieve his goals. Eggman designed Metal Sonic for the purpose of testing it against Sonic, which is his real objective over anything else. No chaos emeralds in this game, just time stones which, as the name suggests, alter time. Overall, a pretty interesting game to try and beat, with new aspects of it, such as time-travelling, making the game enjoyable. Definitely a new dimension has been added.

Sorry, but Sonic the Dumbhog sucks   bsnowotter
Congrats to Vizzed for playing Sega CD games in a browser!  It's amazing!!!
Also, let's start with the good--  Sonic CD has gorgeous, pretty graphics and awesome music.
So why the hate?  Sonic the Hedgehog's mindless, unvaried gameplay consisting of running fast to the right, blind to the obstacles you might encounter unless you A) slow down and negate the only potentially fun part of the gameplay, or B)get lucky or C) played through the level before.  Thank goodness for the ring system, so people could in theory get hit an infinite number of times and thus they may not be too shy about running fast, but still,...
Sega today hobbles along as the joke as it is, while Nintendo is an industry leader.  It is a sad reality that Sega thought it could shove its inferior Sega Genesis and Sonic mascot down the throats of gullible children by dishonestly tricking them into believing that Sega and the crappy games for its platforms were ever in the same league as the technologically superior, infinitely more entertaining games available on the Super Nintendo (Mario, Zelda, Mario Kart, Final Fantasy, Star Fox, Metroid, etc etc etc).  Even cross platform games like Street Fighter 2 absolutely suck on Sega's hardware, furthering the tragedy that people were dumb enough to buy a Genesis instead of a Super Nes.
The Sega CD can improve the background music and SLIGHTLY improve the graphics, but the gameplay remains, brainless gameplay nowhere near the league of Super Mario World, a rich and varied game with surprises around every corner (riding a raft over a treacherous river of lava, fighting fire breathing rhinos supported only by a spinning ferris wheel of death over top of a pool of lava, engaging in exciting boss fights at the end of thrilling and varied Castle levels at the end of each world, etc etc etc).  The positive reviews on this site for Sonic are a sad reminder of how gullible children were to Sega's insulting, dishonest ad campaign that tragically deprived so many children of the chance to own the infinitely superior hardware and software of the Super Nintendo and its game library.

Sound/Music Test

At the title screen, press: Down, Down, Down, Left, Right, A.

Stage Select

At the title screen, press: Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, B.

Secret Special Stage

In the sound test menu, put 07, 07, 07 in all sound modes, and then press Start. A message like ''WELCOME TO THE SECRET SPECIAL STAGE'' shall appear. Complete this and you'll get something special in return.

View best ending movie

To view the best ending movie, collect all the Time Stones, and get the good future for every level.

Visual Mode

Beat the Time Attack Mode under 25'46''12. You'll open up a new option in the main selection screen called Visual Mode.

Debug Mode

There is a debug mode, but for this to work you'll have to get in the sound test area. In the sound test, put those numbers to their appropriate mode: FM40 PCM12 DA11. When those numbers are in place, hit the start button. If this sequence is set correctly, you should have a pic of Tails, a Jeep and a word from the Staff saying ''See You Next Game.'' Push any button and you shall go back to the main menu screen. Start any game and you will be in debug mode.

Hit the B Button and Sonic will transform into any object/enemy you want to place on the zone. Press C to change the object, and press B to go back into Sonic. The changes however will disappear after you've completed or exit the act.

Japanese message

Enter these numbers at the sound test:FM no.46, PCM no. 12, DA no. 25 then press start. A Japanese message with creepy sonic should appear.

Secret Demo Mode

You must first beat the game in Time Attack Mode in under 37'27''57. Then return to the title screen to find a new option open: D.A. Garden.

Sonic Says "I'm Outta Here!"

If you leave Sonic alone for three whole minutes, he will leave the screen and say ''I'm Outta Here!'' Be warned that the game ends this way.

Sound Test Options

Press Down, Down, Down, Left, Right, A at the title screen while ''Press Start'' is flashing to display the sound test menu. Set one of the following sound combinations and press Start to enable the corresponding cheat function. The sounds would be like FM07 and special levels would be the result.

This game is such a Trip down memory lane! It's like somebody how to store the essence of nostalgia in a container, and injected it into the first copy of Sonic CD. And then each copy multiplied the nostalgia all over the globe.

I discovered a new cheat code. If you pause and press A you will return to the beginning of a level. So if you don't have enough rings, and you are doing a time stone run, then this will come in handy.

I have experienced a time paradox. I managed to skip an entire zone because I corrupted the game with my save states. Perhaps Jesus is behind this.
tRIUNE 10-16-16 - 02:14 AM
Dude, Jesus has nothing to do with it, he isn't going to fix the glitches
Sir-metaknight2 10-15-16 - 07:28 PM
Jesus, save states just break the game

People keep saying the hidden screen is signed by Majin, but other people say it's signed by Madin... Who is Madin?! And if it's really Majin... yikes, SEGA has a really disturbing sense of humor...
MrChikorita112 09-07-14 - 06:09 AM
Satan created game over and boss music
HighspeedShade 08-09-14 - 11:09 AM
@EveryoneWhoArguesAboutTheCreepyMessage Actually, thats not Majin, its a mistranslation, the correct one is Madin, nickname of a developer.
