Pokemon Crystal review   SacredShadow
This game is just a really good game to play.I enjoy all the memories of playing this game and all it has to offer, This game is awesome because you can get Ho-oh and lugia, the 3 legendary dogs, Suicune, Raikou and Entei and you can even get the 3 legendary birds if you trade them from your red, blue, yellow or silver or gold games. I think this game was an awesome play the way it is and all that it offers and I definitely recommend this game to those that or Pokémon fans or that haven't played it before, it will guarantee several hours of fun and satisfying gameplay.
Graphics:8
I think the graphics in this game are actually really good, it feels so real and everything moves like it would in real life, the trees and nothing is better than going in a battle and going against the opponent's Pokémon and having them act and move like they would in real life and behave like real animals would. They may not be the best graphics in Pokémon, but give this game a break, it is one of the first and it came out in 2001, since then the graphics have gotten much better and clearer. But in my opinion I like the realistic and magical feel of these graphics, they are in my opinion some of the best and most realistic Pokémon graphics, it really makes it come to life which is why I scored them an 8 because of how realistic and fun they are.
Sound: 8
The sounds and tunes of the music of the game are really catchy as you walk through different parts of the game. They are just classic and fun to listen to. They correspond to when the tune is happy or when you are battling a Pokémon or trainer. I like the music and I think it really makes and adds to the game because it is fun and cool to listen to while you are walking around and it really gets you in the Pokémon mood and I think it is always an added bonus when you have good little tunes playing in the background to get you in the playing mood instead of nothing in the background. I gave the music an 8 because of how it gets you in the mood to enjoy a game of Pokémon and I liked all of the different tunes that each town had.
Addictiveness: 10
All Pokémon games are very addicting because of all the training you put in to having a good team and advancing in the game, that is what makes it addicting to play because you want to progress and you want to try to complete the pokedex and beat all the trainers and gyms before the elite 4. All Pokémon games are like this because of the amount of material you have to train and level up your Pokémon and also beat trainers and complete the pokedex. I scored this game a 10 because like all Pokémon games, they are highly addictive and fun to play because of all of the fun stuff you can do and all of the training prior to leveling up your Pokémon. I would very likely play this game again in the future because it has a lot of fun stuff to do and I enjoy the Pokémon and leveling them up, everything about the game makes it exciting.

Story: 7
The story is the same, but there is lots to do in this game like catch the legendary dogs, Suicune, Entei and Raikou. You are a young trainer in the game and you pick your starter to eventually become the master of Pokémon and be the best. I like the storyline of this game and I enjoyed playing it. I liked team rocket in this game's plot and they are always at their usual in trying to take over the world, but I still thought it was a great game and I rated the story a 7 because it is original, fun and it makes the game fun to play with a great storyline. Yes, most Pokémon stories are the same but, it is still pretty basic and it does make the game a little better if the plot was changed up a little bit or there was something interesting in the game, but it is still fun to play and the story is kind of standard and it never really changes all that much throughout Pokémon.

Depth: 10
This game offers so much and you can be guaranteed weeks of fun with this game, it is very exciting and there are lots of little things to do in the game, like going from Kanto to Johto regions and all of the extra things you can do also which make it so much fun to play because it guarantees a great time. It does take a while to beat the game because of the amount of material and stuff to do in it, but I think it is worth it because of all the other tasks you do in the game which really make for hours of fun and enjoyment. I scored the depth a 10 because it does take a while to beat, but it is fun because of all of the extra stuff you can do that makes it challenging and enjoyable to play at the same time.
Difficulty: 6
The game really isn't all that difficult, it is pretty straightforward, it shouldn't be that difficult of you have a good well trained team and you take the time to level up your Pokémon and teach them good moves. The important thing to do in these games it stake your time with the training and leveling up. Don't rush it, the training is valuable and that is what helps make the Pokémon strong and gets you a good team that pays off later on in the game. Taking the time to properly train your Pokémon is crucial in doing well in Pokémon games and that is how it gets easier with proper training. I think that if you are good with Pokémon before and you know what to do and expect, it won't be too hard for you and you will have it down. I enjoyed playing the game because it was lengthy and it guaranteed hours of fun gameplay. That is what makes a game exciting, because of the amount of material it offers. I scored the game difficulty a 6, it isn't really that hard if you are an experienced Pokémon player and it takes a while to beat, but it is not overly challenging or impossible.
Overall: 9.6
This game was a great play and I enjoyed everything it had to offer, it is a great game and I like all that you can do in it. It has lots of  tasks and extra stuff you can do that make it fun. I like this game because it is lengthy and it offers so much to do and lots of good legendary Pokémon to catch like The 3 legendary dogs and Ho-oh and Lugia. This game is a great play and I recommend it to Pokémon fans and those who are looking for lots of fun and hours of great gameplay, this is the game for you. I enjoyed playing it and I will definitely be playing it again in the near future. I scored it a 9.6 overall because of the amount of stuff and material you will be left with to do and how satisfied it will leave you. It is in my opinion, one of the best Pokémon games to play and I definitely recommend playing it.

Pokemon Crystal Review   David25866
Pokémon Crystal My favorite Pokémon game EVAR!
Okay I need to judge the graphics for the actual system it was on so since it is not amazing graphics like super Mario galaxy but since it was a GBC  game it had some of the best graphics than other GBC games of it's time! The battle graphics were the best thing about it I always liked it how the Pokémon had a little animation when you sent them out into battle I thought that was very creative the over world graphics you can't really judge them because it depends on what you like about the way old Pokémon game over worlds were like I personally think that it is great all in all the graphics are some of the best I have seen for a Game Boy Color Game!
Music in this game was amazing I love most music in Pokémon games unlike the third generation there is one bit of music I didn't like and that was the music in the ruins of Alph and I don't know why I just didn't like it and I really don't have a reason for it and I don't know why but still I have said it before the way the music consists of beeps usually gets on my nerves so for those two reasons is why sound got an 8 out of 10!
This was my favorite Pokémon game so yes I did get really addicted to this game I loved the second generation the anime AND the games so I would play the second gen games the most this game had most of my favorite gym leaders including Sabrina and Misty :D it was easy to get Jynx and I really like Jynx so I was very happy about that I always use Jynx in this game! Anyone who plays this will have a hard time stopping playing this game!
Besides Pokémon Black/White this game had the best story out of all of them about Team Rocket coming back together after disbanding then getting to destroy them all over again MUAHAHAHAHA I love defeating team rocket besides that I really don't want to spoil the amazing story! So more about it!
The game was very long well the main game was a little short because of how easy the gyms and elite four being really easy but then it comes really long because of something after the main game which is a really cool part of the story I have already spoiled Misty and Sabrina so I am not going to spoil anymore!!!
The game like I have said is really easy up to defeating the elite four after that it does become a little bit harder not by much but it still does get a little harder which is good because you always need some difficulty in a game or it is not fun!
I really have nothing that I dislike about this game I really love the entire game and I can't really criticize it!
I would recommend this Pokémon game to someone who is just getting into Pokémon because it really is easy but does have it's difficulty which is the best way for someone to get into a game and to also to challenge their skills at the beginning but if I knew someone knew a lot about Pokémon I would probably not recommend it to them IT DEPENDS OKAY!!!
Well I hope you enjoyed another review by me I love doing these game reviews they are fun I hope you like my reviews as well and as usual tell me what YOU dislike and Like about this game I love hearing others feelings about a game!

Black Bot's Pokemon CRYSTAL review   Batcake
Summoning those who might want to read and might be interested:
Divine Aurora:
B619ook:
Razor-987:
You guys seem a little interested.
Alright. It is Black Bot here with a brand new Pokemon CRYSTAL review! Tell me what to improve on if you had finished reading and be sure to rate it on the game's page! :D
So let's hop right into the action! :D
COLOR KEY: Green: Main subject. Black: Sub subject which is in the main one.
GRAPHICS: 8 / 10
I guess it could be improvable. I don't really blame it because it was made ages ago.
Character Designs and Style: I really like it. I really like the boy and the girl and how they look like. I also like how they did different characters for the whole game and the characters look cool such as the champion, Lance or something like that.
Pokemon Designs and Style: I really like how the Pokemon looks like and stuff. I really like how the Pokemon in Generation 1 and Generation 2 are different. For example, a Bulbasaur. In Red, it looks a little blurry and different. In Crystal and the entire Generation 2, it looks nearly completely different so it does differ a lot for me.
Key items / Item designs
I like how you look when you run. You go ultra speed! Your bicycle looks pretty cool as well when you ride on it. The Poke balls when you see them or throw them to catch Pokemon has a quite neat design as well. I also like all of the designs of the Poke Balls including the Master Ball.
Buildings / Houses / Town / City Designs:
I really like the building designs and all that other stuff.
I like how the buildings are neatly organized, like Saffron City and Goldenrod City. And they also did very good not making any mistakes with the graphic designs and the movement permissions for the game. They also did great good with the doors, signs, and the warps. They also put the signs and the buildings in the perfect position, so you will probably notice that this game has amazing organization to it. Nearly every town has a Pokemon Center, so you could heal your Pokemon to perfect health and that is good they did it for nearly every city.
Grass and other beautiful designs: I really like how they neatly organized the grass and put it in a neat way which doesn't interfere with the signs, trainers, and other stuff. I also like how they put the gates around things to avoid glitching and so. I also like the flowers they put on grass on some places to make the routes look very neat. I also like all of the other beautiful decorations as well.
Water: I like how they put water and trainers in them as well. In water, you can catch a bunch of Pokemon and battle trainers. Nintendo did great with water and it looked beautiful. It was a pure blue and Nintendo also did great when you could surf on it and it looked nice when you could surf on it. It looked like you were walking on it!
I liked the graphics. It could be very improvable, actually so I rated it a decent 8 / 10.
Sound / Audio - 8 / 10
8 - bit sound: This kind of 8 - bit sound or whatever it is is actually better than the Generation 1 music. The music feels more better and relaxing, and a lot better. This has to be my 3rd favorite game for music in the category "Pokemon."
Lavender Town music: Ever heard of the original High - pitched version of Lavender Town? THAT was horrible, right? D:
Well listen to the Crystal's version of Lavender Town! It is more low - pitched, more relaxing, more comfortable, and more better! I recommend you go ahead and listen to that awesomeness right now. Not the best, but it is still good!
I really like how they change music while go go into a different route, a different city, and a different building. But in some places, It has the same music like a different place. The music suggestions for each place were amazing, and it fits perfectly with the place or whatever you are at including Lavender Town or Lavender Tower, etc.
Attack Sounds and Audio:
I like how the moves sounds like.
What I like the best is the Growl move. It growls and it is DIFFERENT for nearly all Pokemon because they Growl differently. The other moves sound Great as well including the 90+ other moves including Tackle, Razor Leaf, etc. I also really liked the surf Audio. It is like laying in the sand next to the beach, hearing the waves, which sounded great in my opinion.
Addictiveness: 9 / 10
This is a great score to have.
In this game, you should REALLY want to play this game again, which makes it so popular. This game includes two regions, the brand new region, JOHTO, and the classic old region, KANTO. These regions combine which equals pure awesomeness. To the beginning from New Bark Town, to Mt.Silver and battle the legend Red. This game has a lot of stuff you can still do when you complete the game, such as challenging the Elite Four again, Catch new Pokemon, and a lot more stuff. Try this game out for yourself. It will be perfect for everyone and for you. Why do you think it is #2 right behind Emerald? Huh? Plus there is a lot more stuff to do including battling more Pokemon trainers, going to your name changer's house and changing the name of your Pokemon, or just do random stuff. You CAN NOT quit loving and playing this game! Too good!
Story : 8 / 10
You are the trainer and you want to be the Pokemon master and you DESERVE IT! You get your FIRST ever Pokemon. You have a task from Professor Elm to  get the mystery Egg from Mr.Pokemon! Then you go give it back to Professor Elm, then you begin your Never to forget journey to become a Pokemon Master. You battle Pokemon in the tall grass.. You battle over 100 trainers.. You battle gym leaders and collect badges in order to enter in the Pokemon League.. You beat the 8th gym leader.. You beat the Elite 4 members and beat the champion. WAIT! Your not the champion yet! There is a lot more things you have to do in order to qualify to be a Pokemon Master! Pokemon trainer Red / Ash.. Then there is a whole another adventure.. Half that you didn't complete in order to be a true Pokemon Champion and a master. Challenge the 8 gym leaders, go to Mt. Silver, beat Red and pretty much it! Your the Pokemon Master! Congrats if you beat Master Red! I pretty much told how the game goes. Didn't I? D:
DEPTH: PERFECT SCORE ( 10  / 10)
This just has to be a perfect 10 / 10.
This game includes KANTO and JOHTO! They combine those which makes it awesome! You can go into 30+ different cities, and 100+ Different houses and buildings! There are unlimited wild Pokemon to battle, so be sure to battle them! There are 100+ trainers, 16 gym leaders, a regular Elite Four and an advanced Elite Four, and a lot more. There are also legendary Pokemon out there, so be sure to catch them! There are also some glitches. Like changing like how you look and stuff. There is a lot of stuff in this game. This game is just too amazing. If you have played Pokemon HG / SS, you should play this. This game is very like and similar to that!!
Difficulty: 7 - 8 / 10
Okay. This may be a LITTLE hard for me but probably not you guys. I guess some of the trainers are a little hard, and some of the Elite Four. I guess I really need savestates to even complete the game. This game can only be beaten if you work hard, and you actually KNOW how to train my Pokemon, unlike me. :( It is a quite helpful tip, instead of a leader, you want all of your Pokemon close or at the same level. That is my strategy.
There is also a bunch of Team Rocket battles.. They are trying to take over the world! D: You battle a bunch of Team Rocket members in Goldenrod City and you also get to battle Team Rocket's tough co-leaders which are very tough! Good luck to everyone trying to beat Archer!
NOTE: Sorry for the short difficulty section.
OVERALL: 9 . 7 / 10 . 0 - This was an incredible game Overall. Good graphics, good sound, incredible on addictiveness, good story, Perfect score for Depth, and a not so bad difficulty. And finally. An Incredible overall performance. Filled with Great goodness. this game was made about 12 years ago, and it is one of the best Retro games there is today right behind Pokemon Emerald. Good job creators. You did well.
Well, that's it for now! Tell me what I need to improve on!
Be sure to rate it on the game's page please!
Thanks for reading!

Pokemon Crystal Version Review   XxEzraxX
Pokémon Crystal Version, it was only a matter of time before I reviewed this game. I mean it is my favorite from the G/S/C line up, it seemed longer and more completed than Gold and Silver did. Since it is my favorite I had to give it a 10, for me it is pure nostalgia and an amazing game all rolled into one. A lot of people thought of Crystal as it's own game, not part of a line up, and it is easy to see why. Gold and Silver were considered beta versions (for a lack of better words) for Crystal. Although everything was almost the same the game felt different to players and avid Pokémon fans everywhere. I'm going to tell you of the slight differences to Gold and Silver that made this game even more enjoyable.
What better place to start than from the beginning? As you are going through the usual introduction, meeting the Professor and him discussing what Pokémon are and what kind of adventure you are about to embark on you will notice that he asks, "Are you a boy, or a girl?" This is the first time in any Pokémon game where you got to pick your gender, and now that girls knew they could be a part of the franchise the market for this game sky rocketed. Another major difference in the game was the addition of Battle Tower, now the players can test their skills against high leveled opponents and smarter A.I.'s (aside from the Elite Four and Red). The tower stands on the outside of Olivine City right before you surf out to Cinawood City. Another difference Eusine was added, a man who is obsessed with Suicune and even makes an appearance in the show. And for the final difference, Dragons Den was changed. It had trainers scattered all over the place and once you found the entrance to shrine in the middle you will be quizzed about Pokémon once you answer them Claire will give you the badge and you will also receive a Dratini if you talk to the man who quizzed you, just leave the house and come back.
For this game I gave the graphics a 10, there were some differences in the tiles that made the game seem more creative and made the area look more like what it was suppose to be. For instance, the Ice Path. I'm sure everyone remembers the big sheet of ice with the strange dome shaped rocks, well instead of the rocks they were replaced with actual ice pillars. Which added more realistic imagery to the game, it made you actually feel like you were trying to skate across this sheet of ice to get to your next gym battle.
Now onto the sound, since there really wasn't a difference in the sounds from all three games I gave this a 9. It's not that I don't like the music of this game, they just don't compare to how Red Blue and Yellow sounded to me. However, whenever I do hear the music from the G/S/C era I will be reminiscing about my childhood and one of my favorite Pokémon games.
As for the addictiveness of the game I gave it a 10. I can play Crystal forever, even if I have all the badges and all of the Pokémon. It doesn't matter, I love the game. It is fun to play and can be played over and over again. One of my own addictions in the game is the bug catching contest. This is where you go to the National Park on certain days (just outside of Goldenrod City, before you go to Ecruteak City) and you with a bunch of other trainers go out and catch the strongest bug Pokémon, each one has a point value that the game keeps hidden so you don't cheat. Whoever comes in first gets a Sun Stone, but if you don't come in first you still get wonderful prizes (if I remember correctly the first time I won, I had a Pinsir).
I didn't rate the story, because I feel like a lot of the Pokémon handheld games don't exactly have a story since you don't necessarily have to go out and catch them all, or collect all of the gym badges. Some people like to use this game for breeding Pokémon, and collecting Pokémon eggs. Since I don't usually do that the only two I really know how to obtain is Togepi and Igglybuff. But others may know more, and could tell you how to get Smoochum or Elekid or even Magby.
For the depth I gave the game a 7, I felt that is was a little longer than Gold and Silver since they added Eusine, the battle tower and the extra trainers at Dragons Den. Even the Kanto region seemed a bit longer, although I can't really explain why. Kanto wasn't exactly changed from Gold and Silver to Crystal, not that I am aware of anyway. But I noticed it the last time I played, I just felt like I was in Kanto for a really long time. As for the difficulty of the game I gave the game a 6. It was just a little harder than Gold and Silver, maybe because it was longer and battle tower once you go up a few floors becomes really challenging and the Elite Four are definitely not easy in fact they are harder than the Elite Four in the Kanto region.
In my review of Pokémon Gold Version, I said that Gold had a few new features like the Pokenav and pressing a on a tree to cut it down, well those features were (kind of obviously) transferred over to both Silver and Crystal. I found these added features a lot more convent to game play, the only time I hated the phone was when Mom called, when you see it you know that she had spent your hard earned money on something that was more than likely useless to you at this point. However, she is useful if you want to make as much money as possible in the game since she saves some from every battle you face.
This concludes this review, I hope that my words have made you consider this game if you have never played it before and for those who have I hope that they will remember how much this game may have influenced their lives when they were younger and want to play it again. It was truly a wonder game, and I may even play it over again myself now.

Pokemon Crystal   tj4bigred
Gosh does this game bring back memories. I recently had played through Crystal, which is why I decided to review it now. This game is all the greatness that is Gold/Silver and throws in Suicune and Unown. Yes please. Unfortunately, this makes getting Ho-Oh and Lugia tougher, but it is no matter, as this game is fantastic the way it is. I'm going to go straight into the review rather than droning on about it for 15 lines... Here we go!
Graphics-
Is there any better opening sequence than Crystal? The graphics are GBA quality during that sequence! The image of Suicune running, the Unown, and Crystal being spelled out by Unown! It was all fantastic then and now. Crystal also started something that is one of my favorite parts of a Pokemon game. Sprite animations. There is nothing like entering a battle and seeing the opposing move around like a real live animal would. While the animations are only a couple frames, they're magical and add some much to the game. They are a big reason I gave this game 10 for graphics. I really do think this game is beautiful for its time period. Some of the move animations were really great, and the maps were wonderful. I think this game looks amazing.
Sound-
Sound. Considering the player is h=given a radio early into the game, its hard to imagine a low sound score especially when one considers the creepy Ruins of Alph music. Unfortunately, despite the awesome battle music and route themes, the Pokemon cries are still flat. I just expect so much more from Game Freak. I just wish my Cyndaquil would say "Quil!" at the beginning of every battle, rather than the weird scratchy beeps that are apparently the sounds Pokemon make. Cries always disappoint me, just not enough to give a low score.
Addictiveness-
If you've read some of my other reviews, you know my policy. Pokemon games get 10 addictiveness, always. These game suck you in, and once you become engrossed in the series, you're pretty much never gonna think about anything else. Pokemon games are addicting because they're fun. They're fun because there are so many ways to play the game. Some people will pick a Pokemon and level it up to 80 before even facing the Elite 4. Some will pick 2-3 Pokemon that can hit a lot of other types for good damage. Some will get a whole team of high-leveled evolved Pokemon of different types. Some will Nuzlocke. Some will... Ok, I can't list all the ways to play Crystal because, the truth is, you play the way YOU want to.
Story-
I'm sorry but Pokemon games just don't have good stories. I do wish the Unown had been included as part of the story though, rather than a simple side-quest, but whatever. While the quest to chase down Suicune might have been a little better than Gold/Silver's plot was, it still isn't a good story. That's alright though, because frankly Pokemon runs off addictiveness and depth, so I don't mind a poor story, as long as the game is fun. If you want your game to be as twisting and plot-filled as a book, go play Earthbound or Kingdom Hearts or something.
Depth-
Just like Gold and Silver, Crystal has amazing depth. I'll tell you why. With most Pokemon games, you beat the Elite 4 and pretty much all that's left is catch some Pokes for your Dex, do the Battle Froniter/Tower. With Pokemon Crystal you beat the Elite 4... then you head to another region, get 8 MORE BADGES, and get a chance to face the toughest trainer in the world. Plenty to do, especially with the inclusion of the Battle Tower, adding another facet of Pokemon that would become a staple of every game. Breeding is also fun. Breeding Pokemon to get good IV's, special egg moves, and Pokemon got only through breeding was another great part of Pokemon Crystal.
Difficulty-
Meh, not a tough game for any experienced Pokemon player, however it depends on how you decide to play the game. I always pick Cyndaquil for the easiest time through, but whoever you decide to pick is fine. The best advice I can give you is to try and go with a balanced team, so you don't have one opponent causing you trouble.
Overall, many fans will praise this as the best Pokemon game, and call this the "end of the golden age of Pokemon". While this is an amazing game, it isn't the end of the golden age, as Pokemon will only continue to get better.
Oh and if you're playing right now, good luck against Whitney. ;)

best in class   ender44
I have(and always will) consider Pokémon crystal the best Pokémon game ever. It took the power of the gameboy color and used it to its max. That and the fact that suicune is my favorite Pokémon, so that helps. Pokémon crystal is the special edition version of Gold and Silver, it placed Suicune as your main legendary and added some other features. Also I should say the I that will be referencing Gold and Silver throughout this review, since these games are so similar. Time for a review.
Differences from the first G/S: It wouldn't be a separate game without some differences would it? As said before Pokémon crystal uses Suicune as its main legendary, instead of either Hoh-oh or Lugia. This also made it so that I didn't waste hours of my childhood tracking Suicune all around Johto. This game also introduced the ability to play as a boy or a girl. There are also a few minor differences between the two games, such as the egg you get from the daycare man that will evolve into one of the baby Pokémon. And the introduction of a new character, who has been chasing after Suicune for 10 years, and you will battle him on a few occasions. This game also has a move tutor located in blackthorn city. Also,Vulpix, ninetails, mankey, primeape, all three mareep evolutions, girafarig, remoraid, and octillery are not found in this game. And the quest to obtain the rising badge was altered slightly.
Graphics: This game borrows heavily from the graphics of Gold and Silver, and when I say it borrows heavily, I mean it has the graphics of gold and silver. Little to nothing differs from the first two games graphic wise, although the game developers re-designed ice cavern. As for the rest of it, the game looks like your standard GBC game, although I can say it look significantly better than some of the other GBC games. The forest and caves stand out and look fantastic.
Sound: Well, it was a GBC game. I am not crazy about the sound. Sure, the music gets you through the game well  enough, but its not something you wont get bored with. To be honest, I think the music gets pretty bland after a while.
Addictiveness: I have beaten this game over ten times. It is incredibly tough to get tired of this game, and I cant say that about most Pokémon games. This game will have you hooked.
Story: I am glad I am not reviewing gold and silver right now, as I wouldn't have much to say. Gold and silver have you as a ten year old kid, he becomes a Pokémon master, he encounters a legendary, beats the elite four, and then goes to kanto to do it all over again. Pokémon crystal, while retaining this formula shakes up the story a bit more. This game has you in a competition with the aforementioned trainer who is after suicune. It also has a few more quests involved that develop your character a bit more.
depth: There are over 200 Pokémon to catch. Although, you can catch a low level and evolve it, which takes up more time, giving you more to do. There are also tons of trainers to fight, each with a different difficulty level. There are 16 badges to collect, in Kanto and Johto. There is also a mystery trainer at the end of the game who you will have to fight.
Difficulty: I have to say, nearly every Pokémon game is easy. They don't present any huge challenge, although you may have to do some grinding.
Thanks for reading you guys. That concludes this review, I hope you play this game, and just below that, I hope you read more of my reviews.
See ya

Still one of the best games I've played to date   mwpjr00
Graphics (9/10)
For Game boy Color standards, this is pretty good, the detail within the pixel-art is substantial, and the fact that you can actually tell what the characters and NPC's are just by looking at their over-world sprites is pretty impressive.  The only reason I gave it a 9/10 instead of a ten is that on the original GBC, the transitions into battles were a little blocky and not all that impressive, other than that, it looks absolutely fabulous.
Sound (8/10)
For this, it was a little tricky for me to accurately rate the sound track appropriately, since in the GBC days, the sounds were a series of bleeps, boops, and beeps.  Even so, the sound track is quite expertly made, offering a more diverse track what with the introduction of boss music for Legendary Pokémon (Namely:  Suicune, Raikou, and Entei).  It is easy on the ears, relatively speaking, and helped the game blossom into the spectacular hit it is even to this day, especially among fans.
Addictiveness (10/10)
This part barely needs explaining, I've played through this game many times, each time playing a different way, and I'm still thoroughly entertained by it and what it has to offer!
Story (9/10)
For Pokémon games, the story or plot behind it has been relatively straightforward:  You as a young man or woman going about on an adventure catching and training creatures called Pokémon for the benefit of SCIENCE, wherein en route to becoming a champion of your region, you meet new people, encounter many challenges, and defeat an evil organization bent on taking over and controlling the world.  Simple, yes, but it doesn't stop us from enjoying it in the slightest.  Although the Rockets in this game could have had a bit more involvement, especially post game, trying to stir up trouble even after the second disbanding.  Would have kicked it up to a 10 if it did.
Although the fact that this is the only generation where you can get more than 8 badges also helped.
Depth (10/10)
There is a lot you can do in this version of the game, with the different ways you can play, with the Battle tower and everything, it is sure to keep anyone entertained for a long time, the fact that it's an RPG with an extended post-game sequence also helps.  You can challenge yourself to playing a certain way, you can change up your strategies and play as you see fit.  The game offers a lot of flexibility in how you can play it, so feel free to experiment to your heart's content!
Difficulty (7/10)
In regards to difficulty, this game is only as difficult as you make it out to be.  It can either be ridiculously easy or exceptionally challenging, especially if you decide to do a Nuzlocke Challenge.  Personally, I'm content with playing low-level runs myself, which in itself makes it reasonably challenging, but not frustratingly so.
And that  is my review on Pokémon Crystal, I hope you enjoyed.
Cheers~

My first ever review!   Zlinqx
So after a bit of thinking I decided I'm going to review a game just to cross it off my 999 things to do on vizzed before I die list and what game would be better to review then the game I've undoubtedly spent the most time on out of all the games in the retro game room and perhaps even of all time:
Pokemon Crystal
So without further ado let's get into it!
Sound: 9
I feel the sound in this game is probably the most underrated thing about it. I loved the music in this game from the calm and relaxing tune in Azalea Town to the alarming music when encountering one of the 3 legendary beasts or the epic theme when battling against the champion. This game has very varied soundtracks and I feel they really add to the experience and get you in the mood to play Pokemon. Without it the game just wouldn't feel the same. The sound effects while nothing to special are nice and add to the immersion of the game.
Graphics: 9
The graphics for what they had to work with are actually quite impressive and are usually very colourful and upbeat but can be dark at times as well adding to the adventure. They also fixed the sometimes horrendous sprites from Pokemon Red and Blue and just in general made things look better and more alive. This bring me to a new addition to the game that wasn't in Pokemon Gold and Silver which is that pokemon actually move in this game!.. Well for the first 2 seconds of when they are sent out nevertheless this was a pretty cool thing for the time and helps with the immersion. A nitpick I have is that a lot of locations share similar looks in some ways which does make the layouts have a slightly repetitive feel sometimes.
Addictiveness: 10
Here we go probably the best part about Pokemon in general is just how addictive it can be. How much time I've spent playing this game is proof of that. Unless you hate playing turn based RPGs you are probably going to be playing this game for quite some time. Battling all the trainers and traveling to different locations in search of items and new pokemon, whilst battling different trainers and collecting gym badges is all very enjoyable and will make you crave for more as you continue your adventure.
Story: 7
The story is never really the focus of a Pokemon game and usually takes a backseat. It's the standard Pokemon story pretty much collect all the gym badges, defeat the elite four and the - insert evil team name here - It's nothing to write home about but I feel it goes along pretty well with the game and never hinders the journey itself. With that said I do feel (and usually do in most pokemon games) that they could've expanded a bit more on the interesting lore of the world which for the most part is only touched on very briefly as well as on some of the characters as I feel that could've added a lot to the experience. But the real fun in Pokemon games come from the core experience which is travelling around the world battling different trainers and collecting new pokemon. It's probably pretty self explanatory but if you come to a Pokemon game and expect a grand and epic story don't. The story does have it's interesting parts though and the fact that it's not expanded too much on makes room for a lot of fan speculation and theories which can be very interesting as well.
Depth: 10
Pokemon Crystal is arguably (except maybe the remakes of Gold and Silver) the pokemon game with the most content packed into it. There is just so much to do in this game. There's the standard pokemon stuff like completing the pokedex, catching the legendary pokemon, getting all the badges and such. But some other additions help make the game even longer like the battle tower (which if you were lucky enough to live in Japan even enabled online play to some extent with the help of a mobile adapter) which was a new addition to Pokemon Crystal allowing you to battle random trainers of varying skill level (although the rewards can be a bit dissappointing). You can also play through Kanto after you've beaten the Elite four as well as defeating a second final boss, not to mention battling against other people (if you're able to) which can be immensely fun. And then when you are all done you can restart playing with a complete different team or try something harder like a nuzlocke challenge (Google it and thank me later).
Difficulty: 6
Pokemon games are generally pretty easy aside from the occasional trainer. This game is no exception and if you're an experienced pokemon player you can probably breeze through the game pretty fast. And while the battle tower was a step in the right direction. I feel that there could've been something optional for those hardcore Pokemon players looking for a bit more of a challenge. With that said things like nuzlocke challenges, mono type runs and such can help if you want a bit more difficulty added to the game.
Overall: 9.5
If you're a Pokemon fan you're going to love this game and even if you're not this is in my opinion the best game to get into it with. The game offers a lot of different Pokemon to catch, train and try different combinations with as well as a lot of locations to explore in search of new pokemon, items and trainers. If you haven't played it I highly recommend you do so when you get the opportunity. Also I would recommend going in relatively blind as that will usually make the experience even more fun.
So please tell me what you think about this review (but go easy on me since this is the first review I've ever written for game :P) and also please rate it. I might review another game if I feel like it and if people don't hate this one but it probably wont be in a while unless I'm bored which I do tend to be a lot...

A TERRIFIC GAME   Postman3
When you look at how far Game Freak has come since they started developing Pokémon games for Game Boy Color, it should come as no surprise that Pokémon Crystal was so successful. It is the most well thought out of the Pokémon games for the system. It has features that have yet to be matched by any of the official Nintendo Pokémon games rented on this site. For instance, I can have as many custom Poke Balls as I want made for me. I just have to save my Apricorns. In the two prior Pokemons, the best I could do was sell my extras. Now I don't have to. There is also a new radio contest where you can win all sorts of cool prizes that aren't available in stores until later in the game. I also like catching Jigglypuff at a higher level too. Enough about the actual game; let's get into why such a great game lost so many points on my score chart.
SOUND and GRAPHICS
That is it, in a nutshell. It's all the Java Boy Emulator's fault. On a Game Boy Color, the graphics and sound would be normally quite as good as other Color games. The JBE is the best though, according to the page; so that is the one I use. Most of the graphic and sound issues are triggered by just moving around. Water attacks used in battle tend to look like the screen is partially covered up by white spaces. Sometimes you hear good sounds and then they get garbled. The music seems a little different than Pokémon Silver and Pokémon Gold. Maybe they just changed the pitch. The Pokémon sprites move and blink when you check their stats or when you are starting battle against one. Only your opponent moves upon entering battle, not your Pokémon. Their signature sounds may get a little blippy. Except for these minor glitch issues, the game play runs rather well.
Speaking of.... GLITCHES
The Battle Tower doesn't work. Yet another good feature trumped by Java Boy. They fixed that issue in the advance games. The advance games have battle tents all over the place. Maybe the Tower would be different. I don't know.
ADDICTIVE
You bet your boots it is. You can have hours of fun training to beat a Gym Leader. Level up your weakest to take on second generation Team Rocket. Catch one of a kind Pokémon that can run from you at any time. So much has been packed into Pokémon Crystal. Knowing all that, if I could not play both this and the advance games, I would choose Pokémon Crystal over them.
THE STORY
It is the most complex story thus far in second generation Pokémon versions. You will not have noticed anything too out there after beating the fourth Gym Leader, but there are sure to be plot twists. Mount Mortar is not a darkened cave any more. That should be easier to get through.
DIFFICULTY
There are many new features that render this one more difficult than others. The places trainers stand have been rearranged. You have to battle them and win to get by. A certain cover Pokémon will be a much rarer sight. It is possibly harder to catch, but it has avoided me thus far.
DEPTH
The game world is much bigger than the original Pokémon world. This one spans Johto and eventually Kanto. It has offered me plentiful opportunities to catch Pokémon I have never seen before. It will likely take all my gaming time for the next year to finish the basic storyline alone. There are a lot of tasks that you must complete to call yourself the undisputed champ of the game.
In summary, this is one of the best games on the site. Give it a try. I liked it, so why wouldn't you? Stop reading! Start playing!

Pokémon Crystal Review
This is my all time favourite Pokémon game ever! The second generation of Pokémon was always the best generation in my eyes I loved all the new Pokémon added to the series, The gameplay was easy to grasp in this game and it is an easy game for new players to the Pokémon series.
The graphics, for GBC standard, were fairly good they weren't amazing but they were certainly not bad either. The Pokémon and trainer sprites were quite well designed so were the Pokémon's attacks and it was very colourful compared to past games and was nice to look at, as far as overworld graphics go they were okay not as good as battle graphics but still very well put together.
The Music in this game is some of the best music I have heard in any Pokémon game I love the dungeon themes and most of the city themes the battle music is really cool as well the music is one of my favourite parts of any game if a game doesn't have good music I tend to go off it but this wasn't one of those cases I absolutely love the music in this game more than any other Pokémon game!
I rated the addictiveness a 10 because this game has great replay value, if I had a choice over only one Pokémon game to play for the rest of my like I would definitely say Pokémon Crystal, I find it very addicting because I have played this game up to the 5th badge before without turning my GBA off, I would definitely play it again and again.
As far as Pokémon games go they don't have the greatest storyline but besides Pokémon black/white this one had the absolute best story out of all the games, my only criticism on the story is that I wished the unown had  bigger part in the story but that is my only problem with the story.
This game is one of the longest in the Pokémon series just because of being able to go to the kanto region as well as the jhoto region and with how many side quests there are, this game can be dragged out for months of entertainment.
This is the easiest of all the Pokémon games, I am not saying it is not challenging at all as it is with the kanto leaders and the final battle but it is for a person just starting to get into the Pokémon series it is a great way to introduce them to the games so if you want to get your friends into Pokémon start them of with Pokémon crystal/gold/silver so they can get used to the gameplay!
My favourite part of the game was definitely being able to go back and fight the gym leaders of kanto I loved seeing how different their design was compared to Blue/Red/Yellow. If I had to choose my least favourite part it would probably be backtracking to goldenrod during the team rocket portion of the game it was very annoying and I hate doing it every time I play this game but besides that I have no more grief with the game.
okay I rated this game an 8.6 overall because with my scores for Graphics, Sound, Addictiveness, Story, Depth and Difficulty I get an average score of 8.6 which I think is quite a fair rating.
Thank you all for taking the time to read this review and I hope it gives you an urge to play it yourselves. bye.

"Can't
be compared to any previous games in the Pokémon franchise", this how I
would describe Pokémon Crystal Version in one sentence. Gamefreak Inc.
Really did go above and beyond what was expected of them and managed to improve upon graphics, and features. Some new features introduced in Pokémon Crystal version is the day & night feature, pokegear, the telephone and for you female fans of the Pokémon franchise, for the first time in Pokémon games you can choose your main character to be a girl!
"So how do the graphics in Pokémon Crystal Version compare to graphics seen in earlier Pokémon games, and what has changed?". Well for starters everything is completely descriptive and in full color. Unlike what was seen in previous installments in the Pokémon franchise where the towns and every object in them are all the same color including your character, in Pokémon Crystal every object in town has its own distinctive color and is in clean cut animation. The bodies of water move in a wave like motion as if wind is blowing on the water. They now have two types of tree's in Pokémon Crystal and you can clearly tell the difference in the two types because of there easily distinctive in their texture and the proportion in there size. The buildings, and scenery are breath taking in realistic looking in design and colorization, I felt as though I could walk right into the towns and felt closer to the Pokémon and the Pokémon battle scenes. The Pokémon sprites have gotten a well needed update and can be easily made out and is in near perfect design color wise and form wise and can be seen in above average detail from every angle.
"What's the sound like in Pokémon Crystal?". The soundtrack alternates from town to town, route to route and can be heard rather well, each town has its own music/song or tone to it which really helps shape the mood. Even during a Pokémon battle, the fast pace music has the gamer feeling on edge wondering if they will win or lose. Pokémon battle cries are still unique and distinctive and each Pokémon has there own distinct sound and there's not one Pokémon with the same similar cry. When out on water a certain breezy claim music plays which makes the gamer feel like they are actually in the water.
"How addicted to Pokémon Crystal were you?, Is it something you would play again?". I for one was highly addicted to Pokémon Crystal Version because it was a whole new region(Johto) and not to mention but you could go back to the Kanto region and beat some of its gyms.So with a total of 10 or 12 gyms and both new and old legendary Pokémon, Pokémon Crystal Version had me amused for hours upon end craving more. Furthermore I would diffidently play this game again any day simply because it offered a new story with old returning foes and a whole new challenge.
"So with out reveling to much what is the story like in Pokémon Crystal Version?". The story is simply phenomenal , complete edge of your seat excitement and fun so enjoy. The story takes place years after what happened in Kanto, your a raising young man or lady and you have just turned 12 today so it's time to set off on your grand adventure/ journey. The Pokémon Professor Elm has asked you to come down to his lab so you can do a small favor to him and upon doing that he gives you your first Pokemon. So your off and set on your grand new adventure in the Johto region where many new and tough challenges await you and your Pokémon, a(n) all new elite four challenge, if you think is going to be another cake walk like what was seen in the Kanto region you are sadly mistaken. In addition you think you have gotten rid off and disbanded the evil origination know only as team rocket by simply defeating there boss once back all those years ago back in Kanto well they are back and better than ever with all new seemingly invincible Pokémon and are rage bent on capturing and enslaving all Pokémon and people in the Johto region.
"So know that we know the story how about the depth how big is Pokémon Crystal?". Well Pokémon Crystal is a relatively big game, it has over 10 gyms both from the new region of Johto and the old region of Kanto. Pokémon Crystal has a decent amount of legendary Pokémon to hunt down and capture, all three legendary dogs(Entie, Suicone, and Riaku), and the game also gives you the choice to catch either Ho-Oh, or Lugia(they can be found in their respected locations that they were found in Pokémon Versions Gold & Silver). The game takes a considerable amount of time to beat with all the little side actions you have the option of doing, you'll be occupied fishing here and there, catching Pokémon in tournaments, or doing so gambling winning coins in the game corner to buy exclusive items, and Pokémon and not to mention batting over 10 gyms and taking on the elite four.
"How's the difficulty on Pokémon Crystal Version is it hard or moderately easy?" Well Pokémon Crystal Version starts out easy but the difficulty gradually increases over time and before you know it you could find you self out classed and out leveled, so train often. The gyms start to get really tough if you don't have the type advantage and don't be fooled, gym leaders will throw out Pokémon really under leveled and then when they get to their last one it will be high leveled then most of the ones you beat combined. The elite four has really stepped up their game this time around, and the new champion uses a certain type that most trainers might not be so familiar with so train hard and create a well balanced team!In addiction the games A.I doesn't make as many clueless mistakes and will not make it easy on you to over come its own skill.
"Overall how do you feel about Pokémon Crystal?"Overall I think Pokémon Crystal really improved upon and quite frankly set the standards for Pokémon games to come and goes above and beyond with its features, animations and storyline/plot.Furthermore I would recommend Pokémon Crystal to any fan of the Pokémon franchise both of the older and newer generation.

Pokemon Crystal Review   Lights
Graphics: Love the graphics it basically shows many variety of Pokémon's moving around when the battle is starting while some Pokémon in Gold/Silver don't. Many certain battle style and movements which gives a good rating of 10.
Sound: The sound from the radio was quite nice. Some of each town has variety of songs listen too. The best I actually liked was the casino or gambling building in Goldenrod City.
Addictiveness: Certainly an addicting game to play for all Pokémon fan lovers. It gets too addicting when battling one gym after another. Then trying hard to evolve a Pokémon gets addicting when leveling them up.
Story: The Story was Amazing! It's a long journey to beat 8 gyms in Johto and then beat gyms in Kanto so the story is long and amazing. You start off with 3 starter Pokémon (Cyndaquil, Chikorita, and Totodile)
Example: Whatever Pokémon you get like I decided to get a Cyndaquil the Rival would get the opposite of the Pokémon which would be a Totodile. And the Chikorita would just stay in Elms Lab permanently in the game. Or if I get a Chikorita the rival would get a Cyndaquil and Totodile would stay in Elm's lab the rest of the game and so on so on.
Depth: The depth of the game is long to defeat. Once defeating Johto E4 you would have to go to Kanto and defeat the E4 in Kanto. It will take a while to complete the game. There is also a lot of things to do in the game completing task for people, trying to defeating Team Rocket, leveling Pokémon, Battling against players, and many more.
Difficulty: I got to say, but this game is not difficult at all, it's really easy. Once you just train your Pokémon and catch rare Pokémon you would basically be unstoppable in the game. There are times when people had trouble with the game. When it comes to defeating Red, or especially trying to defeat Whitney's Miltank. Between all of that the game is an easy squeezy kind of game.

Pokemon Crystal review   Luigiman64
Pokémon Crystal, my absolute favorite in the series of Pokémon games. why is that. Well lets check it out In the world of Johto
GRAPHICS: For the gamboy in 2001 the graphics are AMAZING, seriously the sprites of each individual Pokémon are in full color and look detailed, and the overworld looks cool too with its different enviorments like forests, citys, and oceans. Most objects in the game have good visuals so you can tell what that item is.
SOUND: There are many memorable themes in the game that I alwas find myself whistling to like the battle themes the lake of rage theme and the rival battle theme. and sound effects were kind of cool.
ADDICTIVENESS: As a Pokémon game its very addicting if youre into Pokémon, or even if your just trying it out. If your like me youll find yourself playing Pokémon alot ( XD )
STORY: For Pokémon the story is roughly the same. Just get 8 badges and defeat the elite four. though the game has many storyline quests so it does have a story.
DEPTH: Just like its predecssor's the game is BIG. Theres loads to do in this game. Even after you beat the Johto section of the game, you still have Kanto and it also has its own story plot, but you wont spend as much time in Kanto as you would in Johto as it was obvious.
DIFFICULTY: While the game is fairly easy most of the time, it does have its challenging sections, Im looking at you Whitney.
Crystal was the first Pokémon game I beat and it always left a good place in my heart. to this day ill always remember the good times and bad times I had with the game, but in the end the game made me feel happy to replay it again I highly recomend it to Rpg fans and even if your not an rpg fan, try the game. I give Pokémon Crystal a 9.5 out of 10, and im deffinetily not afraid to give it that score

My first Review in a while   DittoDude44
This is my first review in a  long time. I may be shaky, so go easy. XD So today, this is a pokemon crystal review. My goals are 560 words and 5000 characters. Here we go.
Pokemon Crystal-
Pokemon Crystal is a second-generation pokemon game that has a lot of pokemon in the first generation, and now the second generation. But this is a game in which you train, trade, and grow pokemon up and get them so strong that they are able to beat the elite four, and then the main trainer of the Elite Four-- The Champion. This game features two regions, Johto first, and then you get to journey through Kanto with Johto pokemon, and some Kanto ones. The game is big, because it has a total of 16 gyms and 2 elite fours, and then the ultimate trainer- Red. He is basically the evolved version of Ash.
So that was the game background.
Graphics - 10 - Rating - Perfect
The graphics in this game look very good. With a good graphics card, the game looks very clear, it looks great. There is not much to say, though. I never have much to say for the graphics.
Depth - 10 - Rating - Perfect
The game is very big, as I said, two elite fours, 16 gyms, and then Red. The game is perfect for those that enjoy a long game. There is a lot more ingame events, but I am not going to list all of them, it will take me a year.
Storyline - 7 - Rating - Moderate
The storyline was okay, not my favorite, but still, it is pretty good. There is not much to say, it is good, but I can't really describe it.
Difficulty- 5 - Rating - Meh
The game is really easy, everyone in the game was a breeze, the game is really easy to follow. I think it was really easy, I beat the game in like 10 hours or nonstop playing.
Addictiveness - 10 - Rating - Perfect
There is a 99.9 percent chance I will play this again. I play it pretty much every day on my VBA. The game is very addicting, I really like how addicting this game is and its features. I definitely will play this every day, it is addicting.
Sound and Music - 10 - Rating - Perfect
I love the sound of this game, except Lavender Town of course, it gives me nausea. Every route and town's music is just breathtaking. You will be surprised. Awesome sound for a GBC game.
Wrap stuff Up-
I heavily recommend you play this game. It is just jaw-dropping. If you have not played it, get over here and play it! LOL. But this game is really good, ad I think you should try it.
That concludes this review, I didn't have as much to say as I thought.

Crystal. A Review.   Bloxon13
In my first game review, I'm reviewing Pokémon: Crystal. Gold, Silver, and Crystal (can be linked together in some aspects) brought the second world of Pokémon into view. Jhoto, a mystical new world, had a great little addition to the menu called Pokegear. It could show the map and the radio. One other game changing thing that Nintendo brought into play is time. The game gave a day and night scenario. This allowed for cool extra evolutions from Eevee to either Umbreon (training at night) and Espeon (training during the day.) and also had different Pokémon common at different times. This added a layered effect that was sometimes interesting, but sometimes annoying, then awarding ( Umbreon!). The game really progressed from before mostly because of the step up from the original Game Boy™ to the Game Boy Color™, which has a large difference (color!). Now the categories:
Graphics: The graphics in this game are some of the best on this console, beside Super Mario Bros. The color is such an advancement from the previous Pokémon games!
Sound: The sounds are very original in the game. They also have the upbeat Pokémon touch that all of the game music from all of the Pokémon's have.
Addictiveness: Well the game automatically gives you two reasons to replay the game; there are two starter Pokémon that you couldn't ever try out without replaying. The reason for the nine is because of the only save you can use.
Story: The story is good; don't get me wrong, its just very Pokémon like. All are the same with minor tweaks.
Depth: The game has a lot to do! After beating Jhoto, you can go back to Kanto, the place you know and love.
Difficulty: The game is difficult to a point. If your Pokémon is twenty levels above the other, you can't lose.

Thank you for reading my first game review! Rate it up! I like criticism.

Well this is Gamefreak's 7th installment for  the Pokémon franchise in Japan,(6th installment for America). This game took the franchise to an all new level with its quality well thought out story, and its two in game region's Kanto and the all new Johto region which only added to the games overall appeal and difficulty. Technically speaking this game has 12 gyms, now I know what your thinking 12 gyms, this guy cant count there's 8 gyms per region, well there is but you can't battle the first gym in Kanto and the 7th or 8th gym. This game also has a new feature that was introduced to the game franchise, night and day. With that feature, certain Pokémon were only available during a certain time of day. The only think I could really find in this game that I didn't like was the fact that not all Pokémon that appear in Gold and Silver Versions appear in this.
Graphics: money was no object for Gamefreak in my opinion, when it came to the graphics in this game, there were the best of there time with the actual mix of colors on the buildings, Pokémon, and Pokémon battle attack scenes. The detail has gone above and beyond what you would have expected from earlier games in the franchise. The trainers facial details and overall landscape layout is excellent, with not even the slightest discoloration,  which to me has  earned the graphics in this game a 10 out of 10.
Sound: Well the sound is very distinct and stands out! While your in the Johto region part of the game it has its own brand new soundtrack with all new music specifically for that region, and when you go to the Kanto region in the game it plays the original Kanto music from Green,Red,Blue, and Yellow Versions. The Pokémon battle cries are all new with pretty decent sound acoustics, so for sound I gave the game a 10 out of 10.
Addictiveness: I've beat this game twice already, simply because I like the plot/story it has/provides for the gamer, along with its in my opinion excellent (stat wise) and imaginative Pokémon in it. So for addictiveness I gave the game a 9 out of 10. The reason I gave this category  a perfect 10 out of 10 is because I feel that because it was the 3rd installment in the Johto series it should have had all the Pokémon that appear in Gold and Silver, like Yellow did for Green,Red, and Blue, and also because you can't challenge all the Kanto gyms.
Story: the story is amazingly longer and more thought out then its previous Versions in the franchise. In this game you can completely  dismantle/break up the major  crime syndicate Team rocket  once and for all with help from the Johto league Pokémon champion, Lance.
Depth: The game has the most to offer it's players, with its 12 gym's,elite 4, and  7 catch able legendary Pokémon(from the Johto region, the 3 legendary dog's and either the choice of Ho-oh or Lugia, and from Kanto region, the birds). Completely and utterly defeating this game in my opinion has an estimated time of 2- 3 weeks for the Pokémon fans who really sit down and take their time defeating games in the series, without the speed button. So for depth I gave this game a 10 out of 10.
Difficulty: Well if you don't really train a lot or often then type advantage will only take you so far this time. With Elite 4 Champion  Lance's virtually  invincible team of Dragonite's, if you don't know it's weaknesses beating him and claiming/naming yourself top gun/trainer in Johto will be extremely difficult, thus earning this games difficulty a 8 out of 10. The reason this category  didn't get a 10 out 10 is because the Pokémon gym's in Kanto are a tap bit easier, all they really did was up the levels on the Pokémon.
Overall: Overall I gave this game a 9.8 out of 10,because it was highly appealing to my needs for a all new challenge, and with it's newly added  features like night and day it made making a diverse well balanced team fun but also difficult because depending on if it's A.M or P.M. In the game, you had to make do with what Pokémon was available to you. Also the games A.I. Seemed to be a tad bit tougher this time around which really made me focus on training, and developing tactics when I battled.

Crystal review   yazwand
Alright Pokémon crystal time to take a stroll down nostalgia lane. This game was one of my first ever Pokémon games I ever played and is still a true classic to this day.
Pokémon crystal is basically the updated version of Pokémon gold and silver. There are still some minor story changes and graphic tweaks here and there that can be noticed. But there are a few flaws with Pokémon crystal. And, here is where my review really starts.
First off it's the Graphics.Just as I mentioned before the graphics are the same thing from gold and silver nothing big of a change except some minor tweaks and changes. But,there were a few good graphics such as the opening scene of crystal where there were some graphical changes and more detail. Also another huge thing the Pokémon sprites moved in crystal I thought that this was a neat feature as it reminded you that you were fighting a real life pokemon.Where as in gold and silver Pokémon sprites just stood there for the whole battle it felt kind of boring though.Anyways the graphics were still pretty decent in gold and silver that they didn't bother changing it in crystal.I understand that so graphics receive a 8 from me.
Next up SOUND.The music on crystal was pretty neat and catchy.I loved the tunes on gold and silver. But, crystal had some added tunes that were much more catchy and fun to listen to.Such as the encounter with the three poke dogs.(Entei,Raikou and Suicune)That music was pretty darn catchy and fun to listen to.Most of the other music in the game are the same from gold and silver. But, it's still enjoyable music to listen to again. So music receives a 9 from me.
Alright halfway through. Next we've got addictiveness.
Pokémon crystal and any other Pokémon game ever made are highly addictive. In Pokémon crystals case. What could I say more, other than highly addictive.I found crystal more addictive than gold and silver because off added features 100 more Pokémon that were unique to gold and silver. So it made my addiction of gotta catch em all even stronger if you know what I mean.So addiction receives a 10 from me.
Next story
The story in crystal as in any other Pokémon game. You travel around as a 10 year old boy with no dad,get a Pokémon from some random proffeser. And, travel around fighting random trainers and gym leaders to get badges. And, the funny part is.Is that the story is not that plain like how I retold it just now.In Pokémon crystals case there were many small story plots and tweaks that were not mentioned or done in gold and silver.Like that whole suicune dilemma and adventure. And other more story plot tweaks and changes. So the story in my opinion receives a 10 from me.
Up next we have depth.
Pokémon crystals depth is pretty darn long. There are more trainers new areas to explore more Pokémon to catch a battle tower to check out.New items and other stuff to do other than just beating the elite four.So with all these new and improved stuff to check out who wouldn't disagree that depth would receive a 10 from me.No questions asked.
And finally the difficulty.
Pokémon games are not that hard or difficult to complete.(Except hacks)Anyways in crystal the trainers are a little bit more tough but not by much. And, the elite four have a few different pokemon.Other than that the difficulty is not that hard.So the difficulty receives a 6 from me.
So the final and overall mark for Pokémon crystal would be a 9.5 out of ten.
Thank you and that concludes my Pokémon crystal review.I really hope you found it helpful.

I LOVE This Game!:D   HandheldIbanez
To be perfectly honest,I thought there was a way to split the review into parts.
But maybe not...
Anyway!Good afternoon,and welcome to my review:D
I'm an amateur at this stuff,so please keep that in mind(:
As inexperienced as I am,I am no beginner when it comes to Pokémon.
Let us go back to the beginning, shall we?
It started back in first grade, surprisingly enough.I'm bad with history and dates, but I'm sure I remember the feeling I got when my friend Caleb let me play Pokémon Blue.I only played that game for maybe five minutes and I was hooked.Like a fish.
But Pokémon Blue wasn't my addiction,no sir.And it wasn't Gold or Silver,either.
It was Pokémon Crystal. In my opinion, the best of the series.
It had just the right amount of fun, challenge, and bragging rights.
Who didn't feel like a champion after catching Suicuine?(Rhetorical question,I know)
You could go back and forth in the grass until you felt sick of fighting,or you could explore the region until you find out exactly what it is you're supposed to be doing. But overall, whether you're training in the grass, talking to everyone you see,or just messing around because you've been playing for days on end without sleep, this game has an addictiveness that still remains, even though I am 18 now and not 8.
Now,that was my favorite game as a kid.Even my bad memories are somehow good memories now(:
Overall,I would give this game a 10.But I have to be slightly more critical than my elementary school self,so I gave it a 9.8.
Now the graphics?Yeah, they were awesome as a kid,but we live in a modern society of Blu-ray players and HD TV's(Not to mention the video games)so compared to those, this games graphics are a shot in the dark at being appealing.
But,that is also the beauty of it!The graphics are elegantly simple. As in,they used what they had to the best of their abilities, and the color splash was amazing.Just the other day,I was marveling at the developers use of pixel color.
I have no complaints about this game, and compared to other games of that generation and console,it still gets  high rating in my book.
But I still have to be a critic about it,so I gave it a 9.
Oh...now we get to the part I was looking forward to.The sound!:D
In my opinion,Pokémon has amazing soundtracks.I still hum the battle music for this game.
And I just love that start up menu music!
Now,my grandma had this game, but it was broken...so when I played it at her house,I heard the menu music a lot.
The sound glitched a few times.It wasn't perfect,but I didn't mind at all.
So I give it a 9!So catchy...
What's next?OH!Addictiveness(:
Well,as a veteran of Pokémon Crystal playing,I can honestly say that this game is more addicting than Mackinac Island Fudge.
I have played this game so much, that I could probably re-enact it in my backyard(With limited success, due to lack of props)
The replay value of this game is much higher than that of a more intricate game with intertwined campaigns.
This game has its own intricacies, but it isn't as long and in depth as a game like Resident Evil 6.
If you played that game, then you know what I am talking about.
But back to the game at hand!
For gamers new to Pokémon,I recommend this game highly as the first game you play.
But for gamers not new to the franchise, but who haven't had the pleasure of playing Pokémon Crystal,I recommend playing the actual hard copy before playing it on this website.
I'm not saying that to slander Vizzed or David Auchampach in any way.I only mentioned it because whoever developed this website and uploaded this game, was a real professional.I have played many games on this website, and the contrast between the actual hard copies of the game, and the websites,is noticeable.
For instance,the graphics,the sound...it's all smoothed out!
I was pleasantly surprised at the quality this website maintains.
I played Goldeneye, and somehow, they smoothed out the graphics so they look so much better.
My highest respect and admiration goes to the staff of Vizzed.
You have done an amazing work in this website, and my childhood memories of the games I played are very much alive in this website.
So thank you!:D
Now back to the review!
The story...I can see why people would say Pokémon doesn't really have one.
It's because it's not as prominent as in traditional games.
But is important!
Following the story is key if you want to find out what you should do to proceed.
You have to follow the story to unlock areas,or to make certain things available.
Just like how you cannot level your Pokémon without gym badges.
There is a limit to what you can do unless you complete a certain task.
It may seem like a downside.Especially to those gamers who prefer sandbox games or free-roam style campaigns.
But is actually a good thing!
There is always enough to do in the game that you wouldn't get bored or displeased with the area.
Now for the depth!
I believe that this game is very in depth. You could just follow the story, beat the gyms and call it good, but the extra in the game are very fun and can be challenging. Some of them, like completing the Pokedex, are obvious, and they are encouraged throughout the game.
But some, like finding hidden Pokémon, are challenging, and not obvious.
I seriously want to write a lot more, but I'm out of time.
Bye!:D

Pokemon Crystal   Oraeus
Pokémon Crystal is the 3rd Release in the 2nd generation of Pokémon games. Like its predecessors, it offers new Pokémon,  a new region, and longer storyline compared to Generation 1. It offers the same advantages as Silver and Gold, but with a few more additions such as Gender selection and a few sub-plots.
Graphics:
The graphics for Pokémon Crystal were, at the time, very good. Pokémon Crystal was developed to have full color support, and to have updated sprites, which game more detail unto the Pokémon and the World.
Sound:
Sound for Pokémon Crystal was nothing out of the ordinary. Catchy tunes are played in various areas, an through Pokémon battles Like in the previous games.
Addictiveness:
The addictiveness for Crystal is very high, due to the increased number of Pokémon to catch, and areas to explore.
Story:
The story is decent. It gives just enough detail to keep the player knowledgeable, but not enough to create a full background story.
Depth:
The game has much to offer, including the new Battle Tower. The game includes 2 regions, 251 Pokémon to catch, so there's never a dull moment.
Difficulty:
The difficulty of Pokémon Crystal isn't high. The game can be played fairly easy, and doesn't require much to understand the basics.

Pokemon Crystal's story is pretty much identical to that of Gold and
Silver. You are a young trainer starting off from Newbark Town to
compete in the Pokemon League. To do this, you must battle eight gym
leaders in cities and towns across the region of Johto, and later
Kanto. However, the remnants of Team Rocket are reforming in an attempt
to lure back their old leader - Giovanni.

You must conquer Team Rocket and drive them out of Johto for good, all while training and battling your way to the league.

The main differences in story that Crystal presents is the way you

obtain Legendaries. Suicune is much more prominent and no longer roams,
being available for capture in the Tin Tower after seeing it in
various locations. It introduces a new character, Eusine, who is racing
against you to capture the North Wind Pokemon.

Despite it being the usual Pokemon formula, and only minorly

different from Gold & Silver, like its big brothers Crystal manages
to keep it engaging without being repetitive, and the storyline is
rarely disrupted by grinding. Though Team Rocket loses their darkness
somewhat from Generation 1 (after all, they did kill a Marowak), and
their actions don't provoke as much emotion in the player, they are
still decent, if petty, villians. When I first played Crystal in my
younger days, there was a definite sense of accomplishment when you
freed Goldenrod from takeover.

The story is a strong point of the game, and while predictable, is

charming and a refreshing change from the storylines of later Pokemon
games, where the evil team seeks a legendary Pokemon to cause great
disaster.Control wise, Crystal is identical to Gold and Silver in every way.
You open the menu with start, assign a key item to Select, and use the
d-pad to move around, select items, pokemon, ect, from a list, A to
confirm and B to cancel. Basic controls, but very easy to get the hang
of. However, because of select and start being at the bottom of the
gameboy, it can be aggravating sometimes, but this is a minor
annoyance, and certainly not one detrimental to gameplay or exclusive
to Crystal.

One big difference Crystal has is the option to choose your gender.

Yes, for the first time in a Pokemon game, you can run around in all
your girly glory. The female avatar is the blue pigtailed heroine Kris
(sometimes called Crystal, Crys or Krys). This was the huge selling
point of Crystal for me - I could be a girl. And while I had no
problems with playing as a male avatar, and I still don't, it was nice
to be given that option, and Kris was an awesome looking character. It
recognized that Pokemon had female fans and thus should have a female
avatar too. Something that Harvest Moon didn't bring till More Friends
of Mineral Town and Another Wonderful Life (I may be wrong there) for
GBA and GCN, and even longer for both avatars to be on one game

I give the story 6/10. More differences from Gold and Silver were needed.

A TRUE CLASSIC   bloodyclaws
Hello, bloodyclaws here again, and I'm going to review the third version of the generation 2's gold & silver: POKEMON CRYSTAL! Like most third versions like yellow, emerald, and platinum, it is almost the same as the first 2, but with modified graphics maybe sound, or the may add a new legendary.  But let's get down to business
Graphics 10 What opening is better than the graphics of this game? Hands up? No? See? Nothing can top the beauty of suicune's silhouette, But not just Suicune was there, but the unown. The colours were smartly placed depending on the mood and climate.
Sound: Overall good, a bit unoriginal, and a little bit choppy.
Addictiveness: More than I expected: 16 badges, elite four, crime stopping 6 or 7 rival battles, elite four, rematches, and the ultimate trainer red. I'm listing Trainers you have to defeat. It's remake was good too! 16 badges, elite four and rematch 16 gym rematches, 7 rival battles, rematches with other trainers, and red. 10/10, hands-down.
Story: The suicune and Ho-oh story was good, but if it weren't for team rocket's lack of appearances, than I'd give it a ten.
Depth; Gotta catch em all. That's all I have to say.
Difficulty: Actually, I thought they didn't put as much effort for the kanto gyms, and elite four surprisingly easy to defeat, going no more than level 50.

Poke-ok   Cody Furlong
So before I start on this review, it should be noted that this is only the second poke-mon game I've ever played, my only other experience being with the more recent Poke-mon Platinum for comparison. So for starters, the graphics on this are actually very good, for an old game boy color game, I would say they're almost as good as the later (newer) games. The games sound is pretty good as well, though here are times when it feels like the music cuts out for a tad bit too long, when a poke-mon comes out and gives it's sound. Addictiveness if max, how can anyone not get hooked on it? Story and depth are both nice, it;s you pretty standard far, from what of it I experienced thus far, it's the same thing that's used in all the games, sine it's pretty much the same thing, only with locations or names, or other smaller details changed for each game. Despite that it still feels like a fresh new game. The lowest part for me is the difficulty, it's a lot higher than I was expecting coming off of Platinum. For me, it's not the actually battles that's the hardest part, but being able to afford anything in the game. The amount of Poke-dollars, or whatever else the in game currency is called , that you get from trainer and gym battles is quite low, and you don't get  any from wild poke-battles. I find myself stuck in the position of needing to buy  poke-balls but not being able to afford any due to getting so little from the battles. Other than that I've only encountered two other things that detract from the game, the biggest is the time settings, they don't work unless you leave the game running. Every time I go into the game I have to manually set the time and day, and at the rate it's going it'll remain night time there for a very long time, unless I 'cheat' and set it to different time that what it is in RL. So that kind of messes the game up a bit, and is the biggest thing for me. The final thing is that sometimes when trying to load the game save, it'll give a message saying that this game was designed to be run on game boy color. But usually re-loading it again will fix that.

Pokémon Crystal Review   Tekky7
One word: Classic. This is, in my opinion, one of the best made Pokémon
games I've played (and I've played a lot, mind you). While the
graphics aren't perfection, the game definitely makes up for it with
the revolutionary changes it made. One example is the introduction
of moving sprites. The storyline is great, the characters that are
thrown in make the story even more interestingly detailed. There is
also additional side quests within, such as the Battle Tower and the
Unknown side quest, which was previously unavailable in Gold and
Silver. With all the numerous improvements made from Gold and
Silver, Crystal still keeps the great elements introduced into
Generation II. For example, the day and night function, the
Pokégear, and others. The addition of the Kanto region is especially
great because it expands the journey even more with an additional
storyline that is almost, if not the same length as Red and Blue's
story lines, so it's almost like two games in one. Overall, the game gets
a 10/10 from me. This game brought back memories and great times from the past,
and I hope you get as much enjoyment out of this game as I did and still do.

Pokemon Crystal Review!   DaFlame12
Graphics- 6
Since this is a game for the Game Boy Color, the graphics are impressing for this game. Especially sprites like Charizard, as you can see from the Retro Game Room page for this game. The graphics are rated a 6 mainly because this is an old game, and the graphics could really not be rated any higher by anyone. Granted, the Game Boy Color was released in the North American region on November 18, 1998. Still, even with the graphics this low, it would beat any Game Boy (original) game any time.
Sound- 9
The sound is good in this game. The music is enjoyable, like any other Pokemon game, and that's how it should be. Being the same as other games, you can pick from the sound settings of "Stereo" and "Mono". Since the Game Boy Color is old, it is a downgrade from more recent games, such as Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green for the Game Boy Advance, or the sequels to this game set (Pokemon Gold, Silver and Crystal), Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver. But Fire Red and Leaf Green are from 2004 and Heart Gold and Soul Silver are from 2010.
Addictiveness- 9
A game I find myself playing for hours, and if not hours, then at least a good while. I don't play it very often due to Pokemon Fire Red and other games, but whenever I do play it, I play it for a long time. Even if you have already tried Gold or Silver, or Heart Gold and Soul Silver, you should definitely play this game. If you've only played game such as Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow or Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green, you should play this game as soon as possible. This game is great, and everyone that gives this a review should definitely give it a high score and a great review, but that's just my opinion.
Story- 9
The story in this game is original, and that's what I love about games. That's what I think every game should have. This game introduces the Johto region, and Professor Elm. Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow had the Kanto region, and Professor Oak. The later introduced regions are Hoenn, Sinnoh and Unova, with Professors Birch, Rowan and Juniper. All the male professors (the first four) are named after trees, and the woman professor (Juniper) is named after a bush. Back on track, the game introduces new cities, new areas (caves, et cetera), new gyms, new people (professor, gym leaders, elite four, player, rival), new Pokemon, new badges and more! Yes, I know Bruno and Lance return to the elite four, Lance being the champion this time, but the other three are different than Kanto.
Depth- 9
Similar to Pokemon Red, Blue, Yellow, Fire Red, Leaf Green and about every other Pokemon game, this game has a whole region, and in this one, there are over 200 Pokemon instead of 151. This game has 10 cities/towns, 17 areas of interest, lots of characters, things to do, and more. Maybe not as much to do or as many areas as modern games, but still a vast region and game.
Difficulty- 6
Game is very simple, controls are easy to learn, and not a very hard game at all. Z is A, X is B, A is L and S is R. Some high level Pokemon are hard to catch, and some gym leaders and other battles are pretty tough, but the hardest thing would probably have to be the elite four.
Overall- 8
The full rating by adding the other six numbers up and dividing them by six. This is a great game, and everyone should at least try it out once or twice.
Tips:
The controls are:
Z on the keyboard for A on the Game Boy Color
X on the keyboard for B on the Game Boy Color
A on the keyboard for L on the Game Boy Color
S on the keyboard for R on the Game Boy Color
and Arrows on the keyboard for D-Pad on the Game Boy Color
(those are just the defaults, you can configure controls by double clicking the screen)
Although you may think so, Crystal is not a combined version of Pokemon Gold and Silver. Here is the list of Pokemon that must be traded or glitched for:
From Red, Blue or Yellow: Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Venusaur, Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, Squirtle, Wartortle, Blastoise, Kabuto, Kabutops, Omanyte, Omastar, Articuno, Zapdos and Mewtwo.
From Gold or Silver: Mareep, Flaffy, Ampharos, Girafarig, Remoraid, and Octillery.
From Red, Yellow or Gold: Mankey and Primeape.
From Blue, Yellow or Silver: Vulpix and Ninetales.
From glitching or cheating: Mew and Celebi.
Hold down spacebar to speed your game up if something is taking a while, you want to get something done fast, or you just like to play the game faster.

Pokemon Crystal Review   T-ram-plays-stu..
Hey guys, Tom the Ravaging Gaming Monster here...BA-- *cough* ** ...sorry, it's in the 0s. I'm back again with another review! Applause, if you all can.
*applause*
Thank you, thank you! You're so kind...now stop clapping your hands.
*audience stops clapping their hands*
Here is the Pokémon Crystal review, but first... some information(or info) on Pokémon:
About Pokémon:
Pokémon is a game series started by Satosha Tajiri in 1995/1996(depending on which source you use for Pokémon History). The Series' first game was:
Overall: Pokémon Red(Japanese Version) and Green.
In the US: Pokémon Red(North American Version) and Blue.
And the latest one is Pokémon Black 2 and White 2. The series may be fun, but(just because I want to tell you a true and completely horrifying tale from the early days of Pokémon), there is a tale about Red(JP) and Green:
You should really try Pokémon Red(JP) and Green! It is fun and addictive, but if you do, for heavens sake, please wear a pair of earplugs(as a precautionary) while exploring Lavender Town. The city is HORRIFYING!!! Just to say that.
Now here is the review:
Graphics: 9
The Graphics are next to fantastic. The Graphics look much, better than first generation, especially when your in a trainer battle. When your in a trainer battle, the Pokémon looks like they are in real life, rather than looking than looking like they're ugly cartoons(Pokémon, 1st Generation). I give it a 9.
Sound: 10
Sounds = Somehow better.
Description: The sounds in Pokémon 1st Gen may be dull, sometimes very scary, but it has improved in 2nd Gen...I think.
Music = The meaning of "Epic"!!
Description: The music is so epic, means the music in the game. The final bosses'(Johto League Champion Lance and Red from the 1st Generation of Pokémon) theme is the best music piece in the game. Why? It is because that it is so epic, the people who reviewed, described, or even did a "Let's play" out of Pokémon Crystal have gone wild, even insane at the first second they hear this!
I Rate it 10.
Addictiveness: 10
It is just plain addictive. No matter whoever played this. Rating: 10.
Story: 9
The story is huge, don't get me wrong, but I'm just interested in beating the game. I am just going to rate this 9.
Depth: 8
The game is also huge, but not as huge as the story. The Rating, 8.
Difficulty: 6
The game is Medium-hard, and people may not be able to beat the game in their 1st try or maybe their 4th or 5th. Rating of 6.
OVERALL is...9.7!
Thank you for reading this review. Good Night!

Pokemon Crystal Review   Tetter
Graphics
Naturally, a game run on a Gameboy can't be expected to have excellent graphics. However, compared to other games on the system, the graphics are quality. Absolutely mint graphics compared to most others. Now equipped with animations, and signs to show you where you are, you'll have a much more in-depth play-through of Pokémon.
Sound
Like I said, not much can be expected from the system's abilities, so I can't entirely give much of a critique on the sound, however I personally don't mind and find it's relaxing, though at times, it gets slightly choppy.
Addictiveness
The Pokémon games are fantastic and extremely addictive, almost no play-through is the same. Because of this, I am always pulled back into the gravity of this brilliant series, no matter what I was already doing. It's extremely addictive, and I love it.
Story
The Pokémon stories aren't that great, because you really can't have a brilliant storyline following a kid who just left home to pick up a Pokémon and collect as many Pokémon as possible, though I think with the addition of Suicune and a new, shiny story, it's much better than the previous ones.
Depth
The Pokémon games are probably one of the earliest open-world games I'm aware of. You can think about where Pokémon are regularly found, and retreat to that location if already passed, or make your way there to train and capture your new Pokémon. You can go to different places and do different things, and for this era that was brilliant.
Difficulty
The controls are fine, and the game overall isn't very hard, though I would suppose depending on how you went through it or what Pokémon you chose to begin with, that you might have a rougher time going through and finishing, like different challenges people issue over the Internet, and so on, I myself find that Fire types are usually the easier way to go, but I suppose it's up for debate.
Overall
Brilliant edition in the Pokémon series, equipped with an actual story, animations, and other various things I'd have problems even finishing listing, the game is possibly one of the greatest of my childhood and one of my favorite games of all time. I recommend it, it's really just a great game and I personally love it. So, have fun on your adventure to complete your Poked ex and become a Pokémon master!

Pokemon Crystal   Redjoker234
During my childhood Pokémon Red and blue came out.  But with such a perfect game (ignoring the broken Meta game).
Nobody expected Pokémon gold and sliver to surpass that until Pokémon Crystal released and offering many new challenges to adults and children alike
With over a Hundred new Pokémon the world was shaken and the FANDOM only grew bigger
For the first time you can play as a female character a feature unable to enter in previous titles
-Pokémon Seen in Color
-Pokémon with different alternate colors adopting the term shiny before it became official.
-Poke gear to make friends and help obtain items
-your mom saving your money so you can't lose a lot- any money at all.
-Breeding, now you can get more than of your starter so you don't have to reset your game or have a very generous friend
Pokémon Crystal takes place two years after Red and Blues story
But the Most Epic feature is the Battle tower.
A building where the best of the best are a challenge to many (heck, I only beat it a few times as a kid it was always hard)
After you complete the game you able to travel to the classic area known as none other than the Kanto region
and see how much it's changed in the two years.

Pokemon Crystal Version Review   iseeu44
Pokémon Crystal Version Review.
Pokémon Crystal Version is my second favorite out of all the games, the first favorite being Emerald. Anyway it feels great coming back to this game after so long, When I was 8 or 9, I had a Gameboy SP which later got snapped in half thanks to Super Mario Land, anyway I had a copy of Crystal Version which was slightly different to Gold and Silver, differences being that there were different Pokemon to catch, slightly altered storyline, Suicune being the legendary this time and the all new character Kris. Kris was special because she was the first ever female protagonist to be introduced in a Pokemon game, this meant big news for gamers because they wanted to see what she was like and everything and people seemed to get along just fine with her. This generation was way better than generation 1 as the bag had several different pockets meaning you could carry more stuff, the sprites were much better looking especially from the back, The music was more nicer to listen to the whole connecting Johto and Kanto thing was a brilliant idea, the new Pokemon were awesome and I could go on all day. But the downs are that there was no running and your rival was more of an A-hole for literally wanting to kill his Pokemon. There are others but I just can't think of any. The game is quick because there weren't as much dialog as in it's remakes Heartgold and Soulsilver and the battles went quick which is just the way I like it. I like this game a lot and that's why I've given it a score of 10.
GRAPHICS
Although it's got 8-bit pixels, the color makes up for the graphics. The colors are just so bright and colorful and it makes me happy just looking at them. At least the graphics were not as bad as they were in Red/Blue/Green/Yellow with it's bad sprite details, I mean machop looked like roadkill and golbat looked like he just saw something he didn't want to see. Anyway they've fixed the sprites up and fixed a few "mishaps" with the pallets, everything seems to be just fine, just fine.
SOUND
Listening to the sounds still makes me feel like I'm playing on my Gameboy again. Generation 2 Pokemon games sure had the best sound effects and musics. My favorite music would have to be the Champion and Red battle themes as it sounds like the intro to Red/Blue/Green/Yellow. That's right you fight Red from Red/Blue/Green/Yellow as well, I forgot to mention that, sorry I guess. Well listening to this soundtrack which was really amazing brings a tear to my eye and running down my cheek.
ADDICTIVENESS
The addictiveness however ain't too bad actually. I mean I could sit down and play this for hours and not get bored but if my battery is running dry or I need to get Pokemon that only come out during the day or night, then I would shut my game down. Other times I would get mad if I can't defeat a GYM or defeat the Champion or Red who by the way are extremely difficult to get passed (Especially Red) then I would "rage quit" and continue later on. Sometimes I would just go off and grind my Pokemon up a little. By grind I mean level them up to the appropriate level to take on the GYMs or Elite Four. Overall there are parts where you can get bored and take a nice little break before continuing later on.
STORY
The story is the same as it is in any Pokemon game really. This game is about a Boy/Girl from a town called New Bark Town who help Professor Elm who is a Pokemon researcher. Elm tells these kids to go to a bloke called Mr Pokemon (Original name, yes I know), When they meet him he gives them this egg which they are then met by Professor Oak who was the professor in Red/Blue/Green/Yellow. He then gives them a Pokedex which is an encyclopedia that record Pokemon data when met or caught, and then he asks you to help him out with the Pokedex by catching all the Pokemon in the game (this is completely optional). Then when you head back to New Bark you come across this Kid called Silver (or whatever you name him) who will be your rival for the game. You have a little battle with him and after you beat him he'll say your weak and stuff considering you've just defeated him. So after that you head back to New Bark you'll notice that someone has jacked (stolen) a Pokemon (it depends on which starter you chose) from the lab. After a word with the Po-Po, Elm will advise you in taking the Pokemon GYM challenge which is where you go all around the region and defeat all 8 of the GYM leaders there and after you've done that you'll then have to defeat the Elite Four at the Pokemon League who are kind of like GYM leaders but way tougher, after you've defeated the Elite Four you will then face the Champion you is like the Elite four but way more tougher and there's only 1 of him. After you've defeated him you will then head out to the Kanto region which was in Red/Green/Blue/Yellow and do the same thing except there are no Elite Four and only the Champion of all Champions, Red who is the toughest trainer in the entire game. He will have about level 80 Pokemon whilst you still probably have level 50, 60 and maybe 70 Pokemon (Depending on how much you grind). After you have defeated Red you will be named officially the Champion of both the Johto and Kanto region, congratulations you've beaten the game.
DEPTH
The game is really massive because it combines both the Kanto and Johto region which are big regions and the fact that it might take you a while to play with the whole story. I can officially say that this game will keep you busy for months, even a whole year (if you play it over and over again). Give it to the kids too, that will shut them up for a while.
DIFFICULTY
The games not too hard or too easy, it depends on how you play it, that's why I've gave it a score of 5 because it's somewhere in the middle. If you play the game where you only use your started and you have a god awful team of Pokemon where your starter is like level 50 and all your others are like level 10 then you're going to have a really hard time. But if you have a team of Pokemon the same level and are all like level 60 then it could pretty much be a cake walk for you. Word of advise, it's best to have your starter level a little higher than the rest. Mind you, the Champion and Red are a pain to defeat but you'll be a legend in my eye if you can do it with no sweat.
Anyway that's it for my review, it feels like I've been typing forever but it was well worth it. I hope you enjoy reading this as I put my evening into this review but whatever.

Great remake   Delano1
Graphics: the graphics look amazing for a Game boy color game and  the little animation you see when you encounter a Pokémon is really an improvement and it makes the battles more fun. The colors also look great with the scenario's. The graphics absolutely deserve the 10!
Sound: The sound from the radio was quite nice. Some of each town has variety of songs listen too. The radio also gives you a choose of what to listen to that's pretty cool. And for a game boy color game, the music is pretty awesome to listen to.
Addictiveness: Certainly an addicting game to play for all Pokémon fan lovers. Well the goal of the game is "to catch 'em all" so obviously you try to do that and it gets pretty addictive when you're at it. Also when you're trying to get all the 16(!) gym badges in this game you want to play on until you get all the badges and defeat Red.
Story: The Story was really unique It's a long journey to all the 16 gyms in Johto and in Kanto so the story is long and amazing. You start off with one of the  3 starter Pokémon;  Cyndaquil, Chikorita, and Totodile and your rival would choose the direct opposite of your choice  for example if  I decided to get a Totodile  the rival would get the opposite of the Pokémon which would be a Chicorita. And the Cyndaquil would just stay in Elms Lab permanently in the game.
Depth: The depth of the game is pretty amazing. It takes a long time to finish the game even after you defeated all the 16 gyms the E4 and the champion because after that you need to catch all 251 Pokémon's.
Difficulty: The game isn't very difficult. If you train your Pokémon's to level 50 you can easily beat the game without any problems (except from red)
So overall this is a great game and a great sequel to Red/Blue/Yellow/Green and also a great remake of Gold/Silver.
Definitely one of the best Pokémon games made.

An awesome childhood avorite   luna_lustkill
Pokémon crystal was a top favorite of mine growing up. I had virtually every Pokémon game there was but this one was my favorite. I believe it was one of the first to have moving Pokémon on the screen, not to mention it came in an awesome sparkly blue game cartridge. This game is hands down addictive! Although I must admit hunting for the legendary becomes quite tedious after the first time Suicune escapes you. As a kid it took me forever to beat this game because I simply had to "catch em all" but after digging it out of my closet a while back I became addicted again and beat it in like a week. I recommend this game to any Pokémon fan, even if you are not too fond of Pokémon its still a fun game to play

Alright. After being away from writing reviews for some time, this is my comeback.
First of all, Pokémon Crystal was a very 'old' version of Pokémon. As it was one of the first ever Pokémon games, my scores are based off the time period and the systems then.
Lets start off with the Graphics. Though the graphics were one of the best with it's time it was not VERY high up. The Pokémon sprites were very well made (thank you Nintendo) as well as the sprites for trainers. Also, one may not realize that Crystal version was one of the first Pokémon games with color and by color I do not mean the little color they added for different cities in Yellow, Red and Blue (for some even Green). When I mention color, I mean full out Technicolor which was impressive considering the time. Overall, graphics is an 8.
Second, we have Sound. The sounds were well executed in this game as you could tell all the sounds from each other (except maybe similar cries like Rhyhorn and Charizard or Omanyte and Machop). Though they were not the actually sounds the Pokémon made, it never is with Pokémon games. Just because they were able to make such an improvement in the sound  quality in this game compared to Red and Blue, I rate sound for Crystal an 8.
Next, is Addictiveness. Like most or all Pokémon games, Crystal was very addictive. Since you are able to actually do more with this game.
When I beat this game, I always restart for the thrill of re-creating the theme of all the different Pokémon from Jhoto and Kanto. Addictiveness is a 9.

The story in this game is longer than most other Pokémon games (even modern ones). Nowadays in Pokémon, you never find that long of a story. For instance, in Pokémon Black or White 2, the story is: 1: Get your starter, 2: Get the badges, 3: Defeat Plasma, 4: Become Champion. Almost nothing comes after that. However, in Pokémon Crystal, you have the opportunity to travel to not one region, but two which is more than any other game (except HG and SS). The story is a 9 as well.
Second to last is the Depth. Just like the story, the depth is as good or even better. The Depth of this game is amazing! It takes you days to weeks to be able to beat this game unlike the others. By the time you finish this game, you could have beaten any other game (except maybe Fire Red or Leaf Green) twice. The Depth is a 9

Last and (in this case) the least, difficulty. Though other Pokémon games have higher gym levels and longer routes, this game actually doesn't push you as hard to get the levels you need. Also, the leaders are a bit easier. For instance, the first gym is Falkner, a flying type leader. His highest is a level 14 pidgeotto which is highly illogical because the typical level for a pidgeotto is 18-35. Difficulty is the lowest at a 6.
Overall, this game, though lacking the difficulty, is a fun filled game you will enjoy playing. In addition to having the appeal of one of the older Pokémon games like Red, Blue, Green and Yellow, it also has a longer game play which is appealing to all gamers. Overall, Crystal Version comes in at an alright 8.6

This game is actually one of the best Pokémon games iv played ever. Pokémon Crystal is very fun. I really been attracted to the game after goldenrod. Well as usual you are to stop team rocket travel through johto on a epic adventure with many Pokémon to grow with. You shall come on times to overcome and some difficult at times this is a action packed adventure. Pokémon Crystal has a lot going for it with all the fun and the elite 4 are going to be tough so be careful before doing anything. Iv beat this game and came to love it and will let everyone in on it I'm shore you all will enjoy it.

Pokemon Crystal Review.   Blue
This game is undoubtedly the best pokemon game of all time. It has a more advanced plot than gold and silver including some additional characters and sidequests. Suicune also becomes more important and the conversations on the cell phone become more advanced as well. However, the main gameplay that everyone loves is still present and the ability to explore Kanto is the best feature in the game. It doesn't matter if you are new to the series or a professional who is returning to Johto,
this game is the best. The emulator version is a bit glitchy for me though.
P.S. The cloning cheat doesn't work.

I love pokemon, I love all the games even hacks! I just wanted to say i like this one a lot more than most other pokemon games, as suicune is one of my favourite pokemon! and I'm glad there are the Heartgold and Soulsilver games but I wish there was a 'Shinycrystal' or something. Pokemon crystal Is definitely a good pokemon game for those who never really knew much about the old ones, and in G/S/C you can get to have the 3 legendary dogs/lions/things
AND the main legendaries, AND in the Japanese version, you could get Celebi, a time-travelling pokemon. Anyway, if you want to get in to pokemon, try this wonderful game-Pokemon Crystal.

This is one of the greatest games ever and is basically an older version of Pokémon Emerald or Platinum. The ideas of Gold and Silver mixed with Suicune is genius. This game has the usual Pokémon story line of catching them all and becoming the champion, but it puts in a bit of a storyline with Team Rocket. The graphics are what you'd expect from a gbc game and more. While most Pokémon games only have one region to explore this one has two, and at the end you get to fight the greatest challenge Red, the main protagonist of the first Gen. As well as the main story their are many side quests to complete like the mystery of the Unknown. For all of you looking for a good game I recommend this a hundred percent! If you do play this game have fun battling Whitney lol.

The Legacy of Pokemon Crystal   Ainstrings
Oh no!  It's another Pokémon review!  Gosh, this has got to be the ten-thousandth Pokémon review here, but hey, one more won't hurt.
Pokémon Crystal, the last of the generation 2 games, often criticized for the lack of new content from the original 2nd Gen gold and silver; the true goodness of this game is in the pudding, and that pudding is rather subtle and in the eyes of most, undetectable.
As is the theme Pokémon has had since it started and has continued to have up till now, the third in the series of this generation is cleaner, the story more developed and provides more possibility to the teams you have by providing you with more Pokémon, but Crystal accomplishes more than that.  Although the amount of upgrades Crystal got are un comparable to current games, Crystal managed to do a lot that goes unnoticed:  The first of any Pokémon game to begin the mascot story system by choosing to have Suicune star as a part of the story and on the box, the first of the series to introduce unique battle theme music (for Suicine, and then a theme for Entei and Raikou both).  In fact, Crystal introduced many themes into the series that have remained undisputed throughout the series up to even the new games; Move Tutors, Battle Tower, choice of using a female character, animated Pokémon sprites, all of these take place right here in Crystal, making the game oh so much more juicier than its origins from Gold and Silver.
Aside from a tidy up of the mechanics and some slight story changes the game play itself remains primarily the same.  The game still takes place in Johto and Kanto, same routes and trainers, gyms, challenges, etc, but there are some nice additions provided to the player as well; new move sets are given to some Pokémon, many new Pokémon become available, and for owners of the Japanese games, there was a short time where you had access to an in-game Celebi event, however this was scraped in the translations for unknown reasons (probably the huge transition happening into Gen 3 on GBA though, that would do it).
Enough about its differences though, Gen 2 in itself is designed quite well, the graphics themselves are no different than Gold and Silver but for a GBC game they are standard and really made inconsequential because of the other additions to the generation (real story, sprite animations) and really, improving the graphics wouldn't make sense within the same generation, at least not the way its worked out thus far.  The areas in Johto (ex, dragons den, whirlpool islands, burned tower, ice cave, mount silver) were some of the best dungeons in the entire series;  designed to really make you feel like a Pokémon would pop out, given music to suit the mood of wherever you are making the transition between plot points an immersing experience on its own, or for some, an even more immersing experience than the main game.
The region of Johto is beautiful and makes sense, even without real D graphics, the games aren't clogged with unnecessary plot bits, and the addition of 100 new Pokémon makes the generation really enjoyable for all players of the series, keeping you playing and catching far after you've completed the Pokémon league.  Of course if you do run out of fun times, the breeding Mechanic introduced in the generation can keep you entertained for a long time, keeping you working towards having all the Pokémon or hording shiny Pokémon en-masse.

Difficulty wise, Crystal is more tasking than most future generations.  The continuation after the Pokémon League in Kanto is incredibly short though, easily finished in its entirety in an hour or two, a waste of a region if you've adventured Kanto in Gen 1 which in my opinion was a much more challenging Pokémon experience.  Though if you are looking for difficulty, I recommend looking at some of the Gen 2 hacks on the site instead of the main games, many of which are designed for difficulty.
Though this is the first of the series where the rare Pokémon is involved in the story, the actual plot of the game is not all that in-depth or
involving; really just another game where you collect gym badges in pursuit of becoming the league champion and are delayed by evil gangs standing in your way to victory/your future survival; just the same as games before and after it, I would give it the benefit of the doubt considering that it really was a huge transition being made, despite the countless arguments stating the indifference it has to Gold and Silver, there was purpose to the way it was made, and ultimately its purpose was successfully played out and changed the layout of future Pokémon games to come.
I praise this game all the time.  On the Internet, to my friends, to strangers, anywhere that it is acceptable in anyway to bring it up, however, there is one area where I am disappointed that really irks me when I think about it... the music.  Nintendo and Game freak had every opportunity to change up the music, add new themes, re-master old music, but no, aside from the custom themes for the legendary dogs you will find that the music and sound effects throughout the game are all the same, exactly the same.  I would never go as far to say that the music is in anyway annoying or un enjoyable, but the lack of new content within the music of the game is one of Crystals real downfalls that should have been a real fan grabber, but never lived up to its true potential.
There are many positives about this game, it holds a legacy in the Pokémon series that few games ever do, accomplishes more in one game than many series have managed to due throughout their entire lives, combined with the already top-not quality Gold and Silver before it, I am sure Crystal will be a fan favorite for a long time to come, no matter how many inanimate objects become Pokémon.

Pokémon crystal is a very awesome game and it really stepped up the graphics from the Red and Blue games and has a lot of nice and bright colors to make the game more appealing 10.The music is really awesome and I love the kanto music in this game. The sound affects in this doesn't really sound beautiful or calm it sounds extremely cool some of them at first seemed really weird but now that I got used to the sound it sounds great 8.This game is so amazing I play it every time I get the chance because even after the main game you have gym leaders from older games to look forward to and they are a lot more challenging and worth the wait to battle them because I always love it when they bring back older people from games the story for this is really great part of the story was to stop team rocket while chasing your dream to become the Pokémon master 10/8.This game isn't really that long or short but being able to go to a different region and battle a bunch of remember able characters and I still beat it under 24 hours makes kind of short but still gives a lot of stuff to do 6.This game isn't really that hard and is really easy making it seem reasonable to make a bunch of hard hacks for it because I beat the elite 4 in under 30 minutes and Red was the only part were I had a struggle 4.
Thanks for reading this was my first game review hoped you liked it ^_^

Crystal Blue Persuasion: A Pokemon Crystal Review   SteveTheRedPikm..
Intro: Crystal Blue Persuasion
After the release of Pokemon Red and Blue for the Game Boy, Nintendo had a smash hit on their hands. The games spawned a hit anime, manga, t shirts, board games, backpacks, and pretty much anything under the sun. They knew they had to follow up with a sequel and they did with Pokemon Gold and Silver. With 100 new Pokemon, a new setting, and updates to the game, they had another hit. They then decided to continue a past trend with Pokemon Red and Blue: releasing a "sister" game, or a third game with minor adjustments. In Pokemon Yellow, the plot followed more closely to the anime and manga, with Pikachu being your starter. This sister game was called Pokemon Crystal, which followed the same plot as Gold and Silver but made some adjustments including new Pokemon locations, animated sprites, and other new features. Today I'm gonna be reviewing Pokemon Crystal for the Nintendo Game Boy Color.
Difficulty: 8
This game isn't that hard to be perfectly honest. Trainers are mere grunts but some Johto gym leaders may put up a fight. Their Pokemon are tougher than their Kanto counterparts *cough* Whitney and her Miltank *cough*. The Kanto gyms were a major disappointment considering the fact that some of them were weaker that the Elite Four Champion. The only gym leader who gave a challenge was the last Kanto gym leader Blue. You know you're a tough gym leader if people fear your pink cow more than an ex-Elite Four Champion. The game still puts up a challenge though.
Depth: 9
This game will take some time to beat as you have to grind for some of the tougher fights. The Elite Four Champion Lance and his dragon armada will need you to take some time to grind. But when you're not grinding, you're wandering the Pokemon world with it's caves, oceans, and forests.
Story: 8
Generally speaking, Pokemon isn't known for it's story and in depth plot. But the game makes you want to go on and fight with your Pokemon to become champion. The plot isn't perfect, but is far from bad, I like it enough though.
Addictiveness: 10
I will certainly be playing this game again one day. You want to keep repeating this journey over and over because you can change your team and the way you play so much. Even if you use the same team, the soundtrack and enjoyment from playing this game will keep your fingers on the buttons.
Sound: 10
The game's soundtrack is amazing and probably one of the best in video game history. The catchy tunes ranging from the final battle of the game to your battle vs. Lance will certainly be rhythms you'll be humming for a long time.
Graphics: 9
The graphics aren't horrible, but considering this is an early 2000s era GBC game, it's not amazing by any standards. Still, they capture the Pokemon in battle well enough. When has 8 bit ever looked like a Mona Lisa?
Overall: 9.8
Simply put, this is one of the best handheld games of all time. It has an amazing soundtrack and it's addicting nature will make you want to pick it up again and again. If you have a friend with this game and link cable, you'll have fun fighting and competing against each other. I will love this game till the day I die and you make like it too. Give it a shot. Have a nice day.

Not to bad of a game, makes for an excellent classic!( Pokemon Crystal Review)   Nymph
? ? ? ? ?For those who don't know, mostly all Pok?mon games are released ?in three's and are part of the same region in each game,(a modern or recent example of this would be the Sinnoh region, Pok?mon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum ), Why am I telling you this well because like the example I just provided Pok?mon Crystal was released as the third game for the Johto region and contains Pok?mon from the two Johto regions titles released before it , Pok?mon Silver and Pok?mon Gold. Pok?mon Crystals game designers(GameFreak ?Inc.) did a marvelous job on ?improving ?the ?graphics, and features seen in the game. Some of the new features introduced in Pok?mon Crystal ?is the day & night feature, pokegear, the telephone and the option of choosing a gender (either Male or Female).
? ? ? ? The graphics in Pok?mon Crystal are ?descriptive and fully animated. Unlike what was seen in previous Pok?mon games in the Pok?mon franchise where the towns and every object in them are all the same color including your character, in Pok?mon Crystal every object in town has its own distinctive color and is in clean cut animation. Some of the noticeable graphic changes are the bodies of water move in a wave like motion, in addition to that, there are now have two types of tree's in Pok?mon Crystal and you can clearly tell the difference in the two types because of there easily distinctive in their texture and the proportion in there size. The buildings, and scenery are ?realistic looking in design and colorization, I felt as though I could walk right into the towns and felt closer to the Pok?mon and the Pok?mon battle scenes. The Pok?mon sprites have been full animated and in color and unlike what was seen in the first generation Pok?mon games there isn't a thick black outline of/ around the Pok?mon.
? ? ? ?Since Pok?mon crystal takes place in a new region creators came up with a(n) all new soundtrack. The soundtrack alternates from town to town, route to route and can be heard clearly, each town has its own music/song ?which ?shapes the mood(especially during battles. During a Pok?mon battle, the fast pace music has the gamer feeling on edge wondering if they will win or lose. Pok?mon battle cries are still unique and distinctive and each Pok?mon has there own distinct sound and there's not one Pok?mon with the same similar cry. When out on water a certain breezy claim music plays which makes the gamer feel like they are actually in the water.
? ? ? ?How addictive you will be to Pok?mon Crystal depends on what your looking to get out of a Pok?mon game.If you looking for a Pok?mon game that offers a decent long story with dialog and constantly getting harder challenges than this is the Pok?mon game for you. Besides the fact that you have the new 8 Johto gyms to beat, you also can go back to Kanto and challenge it's 8 gyms and not to mention the notorious Pok?mon trainer Red himself. Naturally to complete all the game play in the game you would have to put in a couple of hours a day, so this game would occupy your time for a while.
? ? ? In Pok?mon Crystal the story takes place two years after the events in Kanto, your a twelve year old girl or boy, and you have just turned ?set off on your grand journey to fill up your Pokedex. The Pok?mon Professor Elm has asked you to come down to his lab so you can do a small favor to him and upon doing that he gives you your first Pokemon. So your off and set on your grand new adventure in the Johto region where many new and tough challenges await you and your Pok?mon, a(n) all new elite four challenge. In Pok?mon Crystal, it's been years since anyone has seen or heard from Team Rocket, the people ?think you have gotten rid off and disbanded the evil origination because in the last installment in the franchise you ?defeated Team Rockets boss, well they are back and recently have formed a newer gang in the thriving Johto region.
? ? ? ?Pok?mon Crystal is a huge game considering what you can do in it. Pok?mon Crystal ?has ?16 gyms, 8 of which are from the new region of Johto and the other 8 are from ?old region of Kanto(don't take the 8 Kanto gyms lightly the Gym leaders have new Pok?mon teams and higher leveled Pok?mon). Pok?mon Crystal has large amount of legendary Pok?mon to track down and obtain, all three legendary dogs(Entie, Suicone, and Riaku), and the game also gives you the choice to catch either Ho-Oh, or Lugia(they can be found in their respected locations that they were found in Pok?mon Versions Gold & Silver). In the Kanto region part of the game you can obtain the three legendary birds(Articuno, Zaptos and Moltres) all in the locations where they are found in Pok?mon versions Green,Red,Blue and Yellow .The game takes a considerable amount of time to beat with all the little side actions you have the option of doing, you'll be occupied fishing here and there, catching Pok?mon in tournaments, or doing so gambling winning coins in the game corner to buy exclusive items, and Pok?mon and not to mention batting 16 gyms and taking on the elite four(As well as the hero of Kanto himself Pok?mon trainer Red).
? ? ? ? Pok?mon Crystal ?starts out easy but like all other Pok?mon games upon training and progressing through the game the difficulty ?increases over time and eventually you find your self out classed and out matched (especially if you slack off on your Pok?mon raising/training), so train often. The gym leaders in Pok?mon Crystal eventually get ?harder in difficulty if you don't have the type advantage and gym leaders often equip ?Pok?mon really under leveled first and then when they get to their last Pok?mon it will be leveled significantly higher then most of the other Pok?mon previously equipped or thrown.
? ? ? ?Gamefreak Inc has shown major improvement in the features as well as graphic design for this (at the time) latest and greatest installment in the early Pok?mon franchise. ?The animation was perfected, the entire background scenery was completely revised and updated and really reflects just how good and important graphic design is and how it can affect the enjoyment you get out of playing a game. Pok?mon Crystal goes more in depth character wise, plot wise and graphic design wise than any other classic Pok?mon game in the franchise. I would recommend anyone to play Pok?mon Crystal if they want to enjoy ?a classic Nintendo game boy color game with character depth, excellent graphic design, and really if you enjoy classic Pok?mon games this is a game you simply can't miss it has by far the best plot structure out of mostly all the Pok?mon titles. Also I'd recommend buying a physical copy(I actually own a copy of this game) of this game if you have come across it, it really is one of those games where having a console and physical cartage version makes the experience even better!?
Hope you enjoyed reading my review?

Pokemon Crystal Review by lolwayup   lolwayup
So here we are my first review. For some reason I knew it would be Pokémon Crystal which is the game I will be reviewing. Let us begin with the review. So the first thing on this review is the graphics of the game. The Graphics get a lot more revamped in Generation 2. Pokémon Crystal also has animations for the Pokémon. So I would give the graphics an 8 since the newer games have better graphics but everyone does love a bit of nostalgia. The next thing is the sound. The sound is pretty much really good. They kind of messed up the rival's theme in Pokémon HG & SS. I would give the sound a 10 because the music is just outstanding. Addictiveness automatically gets a 10 because you have so much to do in this game. Story is a 7 because its the same thing in EVERY SINGLE POKEMON GAME. Depth gets a 9 because you have the Battle Tower, Red, and the legendaries. Finally, the difficulty isn't hard as long as you know what to do so I would give it a 7. So my overall is a 9.4 for Pokémon Crystal. There is my first review done and hope you enjoyed.

A Very Cool Game.   kidtuff55
I Really Love This Game. It uses Very Good graphics and a healthy story, I really love the Pokémon series! It has great stories,  awesome creatures and a fun time whenever your bored,
Graphics: The Graphics are okay, The Wooper Sprite looks funny, and things looked good like the maps and over worlds.
Sound: really good music but can be painful when on full speakers.
Addictiveness : I'm addict to the Pokémon series in general, ( I watch the show, play the card game..) but this can be really boring after 2 hours or so...
Story: really ice story plot! There is a lot a fun during the game.
depth and difficulty: There's a ton this game has to offer, so its a long story! The game itself is big. But not big in difficulty, in my opinion, this game can be finished easily by someone my age.
This is one of the best Pokémon games out there, who knows? You might be able to catch them all!

The Golden Era of Pokémon!   MitsuriZX
Pokémon Crystal is one of the greatest games ever made. It mixes everything that was awesome about Pokémon Gold and Silver, and the result is a game that looks the same, but is quite different.
In Pokémon Crystal, your job is to become a Pokémon Champion, but it is not an easy road. You have to train creatures called Pokémon, and you have to battle other trainers in order to become the best there is. You can play as a boy or as a girl, and then you will work up your way to the Elite Four. Once you beat them, congratulations, you're the champion!
There is a lot of depth involved in Pokémon, there are many different moves and types. The biggest challenge for the trainer,is to find the perfect combination of types, one that will defeat any other type of Pokémon. You can inflict status problems on enemies, you can change the weather in order to get an edge in battle, you can increase your own stats,or you can decrease your opponent's stats. There are so many strategies,Pokémon is a truly "endless" game. Even after you finish it,you will have a lot to do.
First, you will unlock another region, where there are even more, harder challenges waiting for you. You will also unlock access to previous areas you couldn't get to before. It is a fun game to play with friends. You'll be only able to obtain all 252 Pokémons if you trade with someone. There are some Pokémon that only evolve when you trade them,so you will need a partner. Another key factor in Pokémon is the fact that you can breed Pokémon, and those Pokémon will have eggs, and depending on who are the parents, the Pokémon will be different. You can only obtain certain Pokémon and moves by breeding,so it's good to get used to it. As if it wasn't enough, there is still the coin corner, which will allow you to gain prizes by spending special coins.
Pokémon is a game that everyone should play at least once.So do yourself a favor and try it today, for the sake of old RPG gaming.

To be honest, Pokemon Crystal is not that much different from Pokemon Gold or Silver. The big difference, and revolutionary one, is the option to choose a female character. Many female gamers were pleased to see that Pokemon decided to appeal not just to the guys. Crystal also featured the first battle tower. Though it was most likely neglected, Pokemon games still incorporate features from Crystal into their games. Crystal helped set the road for future Pokemon. 100 new pokemon Games 16 badges to collectto look for and captureDay care center to breed pokemon and recieve eggsBad points:Safari zone taken outNo missingno.Graphics: 8/10Enjoyment: 12/10!Challenge, without help: 10/10Overall, average: 10/10 Overall score:10/10Grab it when you can!

I think that the graphics are very good for the time period, I like the style of this game. It's not about good graphics, It's about an addicting game. The sound track is very good, sometimes I like to listen to the music, it makes me calm. The lake of rage music is the best in my opinion. As for all Pokémon games, it's very addictive. I find myself playing it again and again. The Pokémon games have a very shallow story, this game is no different. The story is always beating the best trainer to become the best trainer in the world. The game is easy if you play it without a challenge, if you do, it could be harder. This is an excellent game. Play It. It's an awesome game.

Pokemon Crystal   supercool22
My second favorite Pokémon game for the Game Boy Color behind Pokémon yellow version. Pokémon crystal version is a second generation Pokémon game , its just like gold and silver but better and the legendary Pokémon is scone in Lev 40 . Pokemon Crystal is second generation game that takes place in the Johto region. You could choose three different starters , chikorita, cyndaquil, and totodile. You are able to catch  ho-oh, liugia, entei, raikou, suicune, and celebi .Good luck with the game . Also in gold, silver, and crystal your rival is still a freaking jerk just like in yellow but hes worst in crystal.

Pokemon Crystal is by far one of the best Pokemon games there is out there. I love the Johto series. The Red Gyrados always add to the fun. Besides Pokemon Gold, this is my favorite Pokemon game. It has an awesome story line, plus a chance to catch all the pokemon! If you had only played Gold or Silver, or never played any of the Johto series, I highly suggest that you try out this Pokemon classic. It has an interestingly fun story line to follow, and keeps you busy forever. Though it isn't as tough as Pokemon Yellow, Pokemon Red, or Pokemon Blue; it is way more fun to play. You also get some sort of color in the screen! Have fun!

Pokemon Crystal Cheat Codes

Get through grassy areas without a single random encounter.

Once you've obtained the HM Cut you can use it to teach some of your pokemon the attack of the same name.
This ability now cannot only be used to cut down certain trees but also to get rid of any grass so you don't have to bother with any random encounters.
When saving and loading or leaving and reentering the area you used cut in, the grass will have returned.

Freeze your Game Clock
This is strange, but also permanent, so only do this if you want your clock to remain set on a certain day. To do this, go to Vermillion City and talk to the Machop that is stomping on the ground. After you talk to him, open your Pack, go to Coin Case, and look at how many coins you have. Your game will either freeze or reset, so you must reset if it freezes. When you do, your game clock will be frozen in that exact time unless you use another code to change the time, which is possible.

The Elite 4 is around lvl 50 - 70 including the Champ, if I remember correctly. With a versatile team and good items, you can beat them with Pkmn about lvl 50.

this game really makes me so nostalgic, since its quite a tradition that the third one in every generation has some unique special events, but also its a version with more detailled graphics, animations, scenario, story, really bringing the best.
anime_fan_one 02-02-15 - 10:02 PM
So I finally got the game to work with RGR, I was wondering if the fixed the pc cloning glitch in crystal since I can't seem to get it to work. Anyone know?
anime_fan_one 01-24-15 - 08:14 PM
@LunarDarkness2 when I try to play it on RGR and go to new game after the opening video it comes up with and I quote : "This game pack is only designed for use on the Game Boy Color."
Lexatom 01-24-15 - 11:06 AM
@anime_fan_one What are you talking about? It does work with the RGR plugin.
anime_fan_one 01-24-15 - 12:40 AM
Is there a reason why this game can't be played on the RGR emulator yet it works on the java emulators? I would like to play this game using my pc controller but it wont work with the java emulators.
Lexatom 01-23-15 - 03:30 PM
@SuperTeenOne Because it's Pokemon. Nuff' said.
