Pokemon - A Grand Day Out Review!   Batcake
Hello Guys! It's Black Bot here with another review! This game is about the great, small, and mini Pokémon Hack known as Pokémon - A Grand Day Out.
The graphics ,story, level, and game mod were all edited. The soundtrack wasn't even edited at all.
The main system for this hacked game is the Game Boy Advance which is also playable on Visual Boy Advance on your Computer or Laptop.
This game is a Hack of Pokémon Leaf Green and is made by Cutlerine.
Now for all the other stuff and ratings! :)
OVERALL : 8.70 / 10.00
I love this game! It has a completely different story and it's amazing! You start of as a Pokémon trainer in Pallet Town, you just turned 10, and your looking to be a Pokémon Master. You go into Oak's lab, and you can't get any Pokémon! So, you go up to Route 1, and then you caught Team Rocket planting a Bomb on Route 1! So, you go over there, they explode a bomb, and it turned out to be a very small explosion! You can't get out so you have to go in a cave. Suddenly, You found a Cubone! You WILL catch the Cubone, and it's level 5 like the rest of the starters at Oak's lab. You go out the cave, and you end up at a city! You probably have to go into the Pokémon Center first, to heal your Pokémon. When you try to exit the city, you can't because you have to talk to the Team Rocket Leader, Giovanni. You have to get to Giovanni! You have to enter the gym, and battle some people! When You get to Giovanni, You have to battle him. When you defeat him, he will go to Virdian Forest. You noticed he didn't give you a badge! So, You go to Virdian Forest and ask. You meet Giovanni, and he will try to help and be on your side. When you try to get past Virdian Forest, There are lots of Team Rocket Grunts! When, you get past them and exit, you end up in Pewter City which is the last city of the Game! xD Giovanni is in the North East house in Pewter City. You have to talk to him.. When you go to the gym, you battle the same Grunts which planted the bomb and you don't even get to Battle Brock! When you go to Route 103, You battle some trainers which are the last trainers of the game! Then when you go to MT. Moon, Team Rocket set off a bomb! You tried to stop it and kill everyone and you die! When you wake up, you end up in HEAVEN with the LAVENDER TOWN SOUNDTRACK going on! There is a Pokémon Center, and you get to meet Brendan and May from All the way from Hoenn! When you talk to Brendan, he can let you go home if you beat Giovanni! But if you don't, you stay in heaven with the Lavender Town soundtrack going on... Giovanni got a LOT stronger. Be careful! Save and load save states! If you beat him, you get to go home!
Ash: Ahh... It's good to be home.. Game Developer: It sure is. Now that this is the end of the game and I'm running out of time for submission, Adieu.
Well, guess what. There is a glitch to get past the black screen. You have to press the start menu and go to your trainer card, then you exit out, then you can go downstairs and explore the world! You can also battle Giovanni again! So, I pretty much love this game. One of the best! I think here I just explained the whole game, so MOVinG On! xD
Graphics: 9 / 10!
The graphics were just like Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green! There wasn't any difference besides Heaven which is Lavender Town, and the Small explosion! They just did some edits with the cave to make it to warp to a different place by creating a new map and making another Warp at the first city. Well, That's what I got for the graphics which is not so much. But I do like the original sound of Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green.
Sound : 8 / 10
All of the sounds in this hacked Pokémon game are the same as Fire Red / Leaf Green. I was about to rate it a 9, but I lowered it because they didn't change anything. Heaven is just Lavender Town with texture edits and movement permissions edits. Still, they didn't change any music which sucks. They didn't change the weather either.
Addictiveness : 10/10
This game is VERY short, which nearly EVERYBODY can finish it less than a hour! Yeah, this is very addicting especially the text edits everywhere around the game and Team Rocket planting the bombs everywhere.
Story : 9/10
"God dam it!" one of the Team Rocket's grunts said. So, Ash just turned 10 and he wants to  be a Pokémon master. He doesn't see Prof. Oak and goes on, passes a bunch of trainers and stuff, and he killed himself and everyone so Team Rocket doesn't release the monster. You end up in Heaven, and you have to beat Giovanni if you want to be alive and be living. When you beat Giovanni, you will be teleported to home and that's the end of the game! I also really like the text edits!
Depth : 1 / 10
This game is a mini-hack of Pokémon Leaf Green which you could beat in less than 5 hours! It's about 1/13 Pokémon Leaf Green and Fire Red has to offer us. But, it is still one of my favorite hacked Pokémon games.
Difficulty : 7 / 10
This game has hard stuff in it. Maybe its the Team Rocket Grunts that I have lost to 5 times in a row. Or maybe it's Giovanni with level 25 Pokémon. I thought it was Giovanni and the grunts and maybe the wild Pokémon on Virdian forest!
Yah, Yah, Yah, Yah, Yah. I'm tired. Before I submit this review, I would thank the people who read the whole thing and liked it. This whole review was made by Black Bot himself. This can't be retransmitted, reproduced, or translating it and making a review of it translated.

A Grand Day Out   spookyskeleton
Pokémon: A Grand Day Out. This is a short hack, where the goal is to find out why Team Rocket is planting bombs in random places. Even though it takes only an hour to beat, it's still made worth playing.
GRAPHICS: 10/10. The graphics are the same as the FireRed/LeafGreen. It's a short, small hack, which like the creator said took a short time to make. There would be no reason to change the graphics.
SOUND: 10/10. The sound is already okay, the same as the original FireRed/LeafGreen and isn't necessary to change for this hack.
ADDICTIVENESS: 4/10. This game is worth playing once. It's basically a short story, and with one play you see everything. There's no reason to play this game again, because with the grinding, it's not worth it and would be repetitive. Since the game only has a few areas, and battles, You're limited on what you can use as a team. You also don't pick a starter, the game does that for you.
STORY: 8/10. This game really does play out like a short story. It starts like a normal Pokémon game, but you find out early on Team Rocket is using bombs to blow up different places, such as routes and forests. You track the Team Rocket leader to find out why. It's a simple story, but it has funny dialogue, and almost everybody says something different than normal. It has some grinding you need to do, but it's not enough to get in the way of the story. The story is Anti-climatic though.
DEPTH: 6/10. The game only takes you through a few areas. But, the dialogue in every area is new. As far as I know, the game has no glitches. You're free to explore it as much as you want. The map is mostly the same as the original game, but it has a few extra areas, such as the bomb hut, and an extra cave. It does well enough for a short game.
DIFFICULTY: 7/10. This game has grinding, and it's painful in the beginning. Early on you start fighting against level 12's. The only area you can grind in is against level 2 and 3's. It's a little bit of a slump to start, but breaking through the early parts and the game picks up. Before you know it, it's over. The most difficult parts, to me, are the gym area at the start and the 10 Koffing battle.
OVERALL: 8.2/10. It's short, it has a slow start because of grinding, but it's fun. I like that everyone says something new, so it's actually worth checking the town and talking to people. It only takes about an hour to finish, but it has a fun story and it's worth the hour.
Another thing to note, after you finish the game the screen will black out. You can continue playing by pausing the game, and choosing Pokémon from the menu. Nothing new will happen though, but you can go back to the final area and you can repeat the final battle.

Pokemon- A Grand Day Out: Not great, but worth a few laughs   Dynastico
Pokemon- A Grand Day Out is a "mini hack" of Pokémon LeafGreen, meaning that it's supposed to be short.  And it is.  Playing it through with liberal use of the speed button, the game took me 2 hours to finish (actual game time of 5 hours).  For a bit of context, I am an avid Pokémon fan and I play a lot of Pokémon hacks here on Vizzed.  I mostly look for Pokémon hacks with new story lines or settings.  I chose to play this one because I wanted something funny and easy to kill some time with.  Funny it was, easy not so much.
The game follows a new storyline in an ever-so-slightly modified Kanto Region where you leave on your Pokémon journey from Pallet Town and then get involved in trying to stop Team Rocket from blowing stuff up.  The story plays out with a few cutscenes and some battles, so the game is mostly text-driven.  The actual story is pretty uninteresting.  It progresses at a reasonable pace, but it's very simple and not terribly inspiring.  Other than your starter Pokémon, all other wild Pokémon you encounter are the regular ones you'd expect from FireRed/LeafGreen, although the levels are modified slightly.  The purpose of this hack, clearly, was just for the rewritten dialogue, which pokes fun at various aspects of Pokémon games, such as the uselessness of NPC dialogue.  Most of the NPC's have rewritten dialogue (about 90%), so it's worth talking to all of them.
Since the premise of the game is so goofy, I was hoping that it would be an easy play and I could just breeze through the Pokémon battles, but this was sadly not the case.  The starter Pokémon you receive is Cubone, which may sound useful early on, but it becomes very apparent that he is not a terribly good Pokémon for this game.  The abundance of Flying Pokémon and Koffing (with Levitate) makes Cubone a frustrating Pokémon to rely on.  You have to train him from the beginning to make it through the first battles, and the levels only escalate from there.  You do have the option to catch other Pokémon, which I found was absolutely necessary to advance past a few fights as Cubone is useless, even at high levels, without the benefit of his STAB moves.  Also, the sheer number of Pokémon that poison you became a real nuisance and made the game annoyingly difficult.  Again, having an overleveled Cubone is worthless if he gets poisoned every other turn in a battle, which happens frustratingly often in such a short game.  I ran out of cash from continuously spending it all on Antidotes and Potions.
The game itself is finished.  The creator implies at the end that he only had a limited amount of time to complete the game, so though I would have liked to see more edited NPC dialogue, I can accept the amount of effort he put in there.  The grammar could have used a second look through, but it's not so bad that it really detracts from reading.  (For some reason, "Team Rocket" is almost always used as a plural noun.)  The game ends rather abruptly with a message from the creator and then a black screen, but you can actually keep going through the blackness and play through the final stage of the game again if you like.  Other than that, I found no glitches in the game.
Overall, the game is worth a few chuckles, but past the jokes there was nothing outstanding about it.  The time you have to spend level grinding really takes away from the comedy of everything else, especially since the game is so short that you probably won't even get Cubone high enough to evolve.  If you have some time to kill and don't mind taking time to train, you'll enjoy the rest of the game.

Pokemon - A Grand Day Out Game Description

This is a mini-hack which consists of just an hour or two of gameplay. It follows a young Trainer through one day in his or her life - and it isn't an easy one. In the morning, they're almost blown up, and by lunchtime, he or she is trying to figure out why Team Rocket keep trying to blow up roads, forests and mountains - with the help of Giovanni, of all people. I'd give more details, but if I did that I'd give away the entire plot, since it's really quite short. Features: Play as a Pokemon Trainer! Dress up as a Team Rocket member for a brief time! Catch a Cubone! Sorry, but there aren't actually any radically new features here. This is just the video game equivalent of an amusing short story; designed for immediate consumption and subsequent throwing away. Treat it as candy. It's fun, but ultimately there's no substance, and it may well rot your teeth. Although if you play A Grand Day Out and your teeth do rot, the author will deny all knowledge of it and accept no responsibility.
