Plok! A game of Child-hood Memories   sonicthehedgeho..
Ahh Plok A game I remember so much from my child-hood I loved it to death and played it almost everyday when I got home from school everyone I knew seems to be turned off by the title but this game proves that titles can be very misleading in if it's bad or good, Let's Go Straight To the Review Now.
Gameplay Rating: 7.5/10
The Gameplay in plok is very fun as you go from start to finish of the level fighting enemies, dodging obstacles, jumping from platform to platform while making sure not to fall into the water and finally catching the flag at the end. Not Only Do You Get To Play As Plok but as his grandfather as well but only if you do the normal mode which I think is how it should be played.
Story Rating: 7/10
The Story Starts off as Plok Flag gets stolen by a group of villains and he has to go from level to level until he reaches the villains until he retrieves his flag back. Afterwards Plok Returns Home and finds that all his flag on the island have been replaced with flea flags now he must go and attack the fleas to get his flag back on each level while heading for the flea pit where he can destroy the source of the evil the flea queen. Now if you play the normal mode like I suggest then after you reach Plok's house he will fall asleep and then you play as his grandfather looking for his lost amullent so he looks all over cotton island to find it and it turns out the same villains that stole Plok's flag had stolen the grandfathers amullent so grandfather plok has to go and fight them off to win his amullent back. The Reason why I give this story a score is cause it had a very creative story and it was something original but some parts of the game do get repetitive and may start to make the player lose interest.
Sound Rating: 10/10
The Sound in this game is outstanding for a game made in the early 90's the music is very good and very catchy at the same time too it's another part of the game that makes it even more awesome from the boss music to the stage music to the power-up music all are fantastic original and catchy to listen to. My Favorite Music in the game has to be the Rocket Launcher Power-Up theme its tune makes it seem like your invincible and nothing can stop you, now if you wanna know my favorite stage music that would be the beach theme it's so relaxing.
Graphics Rating: 8/10
The Graphics are good for what the game is based on and it's supposed to be more of a child's game so it's gonna look cartoon-type but it my opinion still looks great. I mean it's not as good as today's graphics but think back to when SNES first came out it must have look good then and I think it still looks good now. Once again just goes to prove better graphics don't make a better game
Addictiveness Rating: 6/10
The Reason why I gave the addictiveness rating a 6 is cause like I said in the story rating some parts of the game do get repetitive and may make you lose interest it's something that could have been ironed out. But it still does have lots of different parts to explore such as the bosses, getting the plok flag back, destroying the fleas, and playing as Plok's grandfather. So it does have different type of game-play experiences so I would still give it a high rating of 6
Depth Rating: 8/10
It does have a lot of levels and each level is huge in size and exploration so it will take a while to beat this game so a 8 is deserved here
Difficulty Rating: 7.5/10
The difficulty in this game I'm not gonna lie is very difficult at times. It starts off easy with the beach levels but when you get to the later stages it does get very difficult as some parts of the level require you to lose an arm or a limb while you still have to move forward and you might end up losing all your arms and limbs and having to bounce around the level until you find your arms and limbs hanging on a clothes hanger. Plus Very Later Level make you ride a vehicle that is hard to control from the start until the end which does aggravate me a little. So a 7.5 is given here
Overall Rating: 9/10
This is a game that is strange in some ways but an awesome game in others and this was actually the first game I ever owned on my SNES system which made me love the system even more hoping to find more games of this kind. Don't Let the front cover fool you into thinking this is gonna be a boring 2-year old game pick it up and at least give it a chance I know I did and I never let go of it. All I ever said after I played this game was 2 simple words
Plok! YOU ROCK!

Plok! What else can I say?   rcarter2
First of all, I gotta point out the exclamation point in my title is not my own. The game's title actually has an exclamation point! What do you think a game named Plok would be like? This game was a complete mystery to me when I got it as a kid, and the picture on the cartridge didn't help. All I could expect was that this was going to be one crazy game, and I was right. As you might guess, Plok is the name of the hero of the game. As far as what Plok is supposed to be, whether it is an animal, weird creature, or a crazy guy with a red ski mask and boxing gloves, I do not know. He is a very unconventional character who really loves flags, and throws his detachable limbs like boomerangs as a way to attack. But he isn't the odd ball in this little world, as the enemies are just as weird as he is. This game is just plain wacky, but strangely fun to play.
Graphics: 6
This graphics of this game are about what you would expect for your average SNES game. It is a two dimensional side scrolling game, to start with. But the shadowing on this game is pretty well done, bumping it just a little bit higher than your generic SNES game. But one thing that you will notice is that this game is COLORFUL. Almost everything about this game is bright and loud, but works for a game as odd as this one. That is except for the section of the game that is all in black and white, but even that strangely works. Not many games can pull off the black and white look on an SNES cartridge. There are also a wide variety of environments to go through, which keeps things fresh. At some points, you are in your typical island setting. Others, you can be in a dark forest, deserts, clouds, cliffs, and caves. Each one is done well enough that you won't really wonder where you are. The movements of the sprites are also very clean, and nearly glitch free.
Sound: 8
This game is pretty good in the sound department too. The sound effects tend to be just as cartoonish as the graphics. You will hear lots of boing, whoosh, boom, and high pitched screaming (from Plok). But they aren't super loud, so they are just subtle enough to notice, but not be overwhelming, which is an accomplishment for such a wacky game. The music does overpower the sound effects a bit. It seems that with every change with environment, you get different music, which is always a good thing. It helps give the game some variety. But the honorable mentions for music in this game go to the forest levels, as it is very spooky. The other is the boss music, as it is a huge change from fun, upbeat music, to music that is kind of has an epic feeling to it. It just makes the boss fights more awesome.
Addictiveness: 5
This gets a mediocre addictiveness rating, and for good reason. As fun as it is to throw your arms and legs at enemies, this game is a real challenge. You wouldn't expect that from such a childish game, but it really is. What brings the addictiveness down is not the difficulty however, but the fact that with how long and difficult this game is, there are no passwords or saves to help you out. If you lose all your lives, you gotta start over. And you don't start out with continues. You gotta earn them. Come on, really? There is an easy mode for this game though. The problem is, you end up skipping about 3/4 of the levels, half the bosses, and the levels are ridiculously easy. What really sucks about easy mode is that you don't even fight the final boss. SPOILER SPOILER. For the ending on easy mode, you get a little story that states you went into the flea lair (which on normal mode is like 10 levels that you don't play on easy mode) and that he defeated the queen.....real nice. But the game is still fun. It just isn't so fun if you die at around level 25-30 (there are 36 altogether).
Story: 4
Don't you love it when you take the role of a character who goes on an epic quest to save the world, kingdom, home, or a princess? Do you enjoy the character who lost his family, and vows to avenge them? You won't find that here. This game is centered around one thing, which is flags. Plok loves his flags. The adventure starts with Plok exiting his home, and finding out someone had stolen his flag. So he sets off to get his flag back. When he does so, he returns to his island to find that the fleas have taken his flags down all over the island, and replaced them with flea flags. Plok embarks on a journey to go to every area of the island, squash every flea, and replace their flags with his flags. Seems like a lot of work all over a bunch of flags to me. There really isn't much development to this story either, but honestly, what can you do to make a story like this develop more?
Depth: 8
Though the game lacks in a good story that gives the adventure importance, it makes up a little bit of that in depth. At the beginning, it might seem like it is going to get very repetitive. But as you progress through the game, you have to actually destroy every flea in the level to complete it. The levels themselves get very puzzle like. The bosses definitely require a good strategy to beat, or you will never make it. The power ups are also awesome. There are gift boxes all over the game, and when you grab it, you temporarily get some costume that gives you some ability. For example, you can get a flamethrower with a fire-fighter outfit, become buff and your flying limbs go farther and are a lot stronger, get a jet pack, etc. The ending levels in the flea cave are also a twist. They have a gift at the beginning of the level that lasts until the level is over. They vehicles that you go through the level in like motorcycles, army tanks, pogo sticks, etc. They are challenging, but pretty fun to do.
Difficulty: 9
You wouldn't expect it from such a childlike game, but it gets hard. At first, it seems like a breeze, but that first boss fight is a lot hard than what you go into it expecting. From that point, the game just gets harder and harder. It is really long too, which is part of the reason it is so difficult. Through 36 levels, you start to find yourself running low on lives halfway to 3/4 through the game. Some of the levels will also take you quite a while to complete. Usually, if a game has short a lot of levels, they are all short. That isn't always the case with this game. Prepare for a challenge that you have to put quite a bit of time to complete.
Overall: 6.7
If you are looking to pass some time, this can be an entertaining way to do it. You just gotta be in the mood for a kind of unorthodox game. The graphics are very brightly colored, and have a good variety of environments. But other than that, it is no more than what you can expect from SNES. The sound is very light and fun, and the boss music is really cool. Even though it is a fun and unusual game to play, if you intend on playing all the levels and see the real ending by playing on normal mode, it gets very frustrating when you die at the halfway point, which takes long enough already, because you don't get passwords. You probably won't like this game if you don't like adventures that impact nothing but the main character, as Plok just wants his flags back. Cute, but not much to really care about. Though the lack of story is made up in the many things you get to do like solve puzzle like levels, hunt fleas, and get neat power ups. The difficulty of this game is also very high, so you get a good challenge. Overall, it might be worth your time.

A very underrated yet obsure game, What does yours truely RedHotToddy think?   RedHotToddy
There are games that I come across every once in a while that have a trailer or so that just makes me want to buy the game immediatly! I mean, there was kingdom hearts, Ratchet and clank, banjo kazooie, etc. But I do not know what about this game that caught my attentention! Was It because it looked like your typical 2D cartoony side scroller then you come to know from the SNES? I guess so! But anyways, today we are looking at a game that I, RedHotToddy have VERY VERY vivid memories of. What Is this game you ask of? Well guys, This game is Plok for the SNES!
Story-7/10
The main plot in this game is basically your old fashioned "Save what is rightfuly yours" Plot just like Mario where he has to go around and save princess peach, but is it anything to whine about? No! Not at all, But anyways, the story of this game is that one day on a peaceful island called Polyesta, there lives a humble little fellow named Plok, Our hero Plok has a huge and I say HUGE thing for flags! Everywhere he goes, he wants to find a flag, But carry on! One day he is carefully guarding his trusty lovely square flag, He THEN wakes up one morning to actually discover that some wicked thief has STOLEN Plok's square flag! As you know, Plok actually has a very short temper, meaning he gets mad easily, So instead of sitting there moaping and such because he now longer has his flag, This little dude is going to travel all over to retrieve his flag back to It's rightful place! Whether It kills him or not, He is going to find it! So now that you know the story, Let's get onto the actual gameplay shall we ladies and gentleman?
Gameplay-8/10
In this action adventure 2D side scroller, players must take control of the titular hero Plok, I absolutely have NO idea what he is, But anyways, Players will take control of Plok, as you guide him through big vast dangerous and Yet colorful levels, Defeating baddies, collecting goodies, and well, Getting back the flag! The controls are pretty simple, you press the D-pad to move, you press the A button to jump, and you press the B button to throw your limbs at enemies, Yes, plok throws his actual body at enemies to Attack, So yeah, each world in the game offers 5-7 distinct levels, Each level as well has a certain flag that you need to collect, Well particularly, these are phony flags put here just to anger Plok himself! As everytime he completes a level, he makes an angry comment saying "THIS IS NOT MY FLAG! WHAT IS THIS!?!?' Plok will be collecting TONS of goodies along the way to come, And these goodies are as followed, You collect golden clams to increase your score,  these presents which grant you special powers like strength, invinsibilty, and more, and tons of other cool stuff!  The enemies you'll be facing through your quest ARE your typical fare, You fight slugs, birds, fleas, and so on. At the end of each world, Plok will have to fight a big and powerful boss fight, which include twin bombers, flea queens, and so on. A thing I like about this game is that everytime you complete a level, you are rewarded with a PLOKontinue point, throughout the game there will be the letters P L O and K on the screen, each time you finish a level you will be rewarded an extra chance to continue the game when you lose all your lives, and I really like this feature! Mainly because It gives you more chances to continue when you have already failed once. Anyways, that is pretty much it for the gameplay!
Graphics-8/10
The second I looked at the innocent little box and art that surrounds this game, I had really absolutely NO idea what to expect from this big game! But when I put it in my super nintendo, I was suprised to say and see that the game is actually a cute little side scroller that really brings me back to kirby days! But anyways, the graphics in this game are simply put AMAZING. From the main character himself to the actual levels and distinctive art style, Everything in this game is just absolutely ALIVE and just BURSTING with color! Which makes plok's universe just a blast to explore from start to finish. So for the level design, The levels in this adventur arrange from islands, to nests, to artic glaciers, carnivals, and everything else you come to expect from a cartoony 2D platformer like this! Now for the actual character sprites, they are pretty darn good to say the least, when you boot up the game, you are treated to a nice cute image of plok in all his glory, who seems to be some sort of puppet creature with boxing gloves who plays harmonica! But all the sprites like his are very cartoony and colorful, never once have I came across boring looking characters, because they are all fun to be honest! The HUD in this game is pretty self explanatory, It shows your score, your PLOKontinue gaudge, and your current amount of lives.
Sound-7/10
When you boot up the game, you are treated to some ABSOLUTELY mesmorizing harmonica playing from yours truely Plok himself! I mean just listen for yourself and you will see how good he is! But anyways, the sound in this game is once again another high point of the game itself, Because the sound is probably one of THE catchiest soundtracks I have heard in a SNES game! All the songs in each level are bright, happy, catchy, and just absolute music to my ears! Now as for the sound effects and such, they are as simple as you can get for an SNES game, But they are still good! You get some boings, bams, splats, jumps, and alot of other cartoony sound effects. Please note that this game actually uses some voice vocals! Like from plok himself, as he is hurt, he will yelp, scream, panic, and well yeah! It is hard to hate plok, He has that certain "IT" charm that other video game characters sadly don't have...Doesn't mean I hate all other video game characters though!
Addictiveness-8/10
The game was pretty fun as a child, and my opinions on the game have ONCE again not melted! This is mainly because I have played the game alot of times as a tiny little child, So of course I am supposed to have alot of memories! But anyways, what makes this game fun Is not that it is a platformer, But It is how fresh and innovatitve It feels! The game feels rather different then all other platformers I have played, and that is good, I mean some old things are great, and this game is no exception!
Depth-7/10
This game is pretty long and offers plenty to do and see here! And well, here you go, The main quest is about 4 worlds long, each with about 7 levels each, so that is a whooping 30-40 levels, AND a HUGE 1-2 hour quest you have ahead of you right here! And the game also offers a scoring system, so If you want to beat my score on this game (987,265) Be my guest all of you on the vizzed board!
Difficulty-6/10
For an expert gamer like me, The game wasn't really that much of a challenge for me to get through, But the game still has It's tough moments and here they are! First thing is some of the bosses, they are not all challenging, but some can really really push your buttons, Like the flea queen! But hey, I like a challenge and so do All of you guys on the vizzed board do (Megaman "cough" "cough")
Overall-7.8/10
I was amazed by this one actually! I mean. the game does stack up with all the other SNES platformers, but cut it some slack! I gave this game a 7.8 because it is fun and challenging, anyways, this has been REDhotToddy, and I am out!
