The only bad thing about Paper Mario is that it’s sequel is even better.   uusretrohippi
While not as successful as some other games on Nintendo 64 such as Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time and Super Mario 64, Paper Mario has later gained something of a cult following and it's easy to see why. The game has really anarchistic andstrange sense of humor that's really needed in games even nowadays, and one of the best leveling-, and battle systems in any RPGs I've played. Let's look at
the game piece by piece to see what makes it so great.
Graphics: 10
The idea to make Mario in paper form might seem rather silly, but it was really smart decision from Nintendo. Early polygons at N64 were rather awkward-looking, so this kind of merging between 2D and 3D makes the world seem seamless even by modern standards. Besides this works to the games advantage as there's quite a lot of visual humor based on the world composed of paper. Overall when it comes to graphics I think creative ideas work better in the long run. Even the most realistic graphics may seem dated in a couple of years, but simple visual styles like those seen in Okami, Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and Paper Mario remain timeless.
Sound: 9
The sounds in the game are top notch. Most of the tunes will stick in your head, and every song matches it's environment perfectly. The sound effects are also great. When Mario hit’s or jumps on an enemy it leaves a delightful hitting effect (and if that doesn’t suit your tastes there are even badges that change them). Still the sequel Paper Mario: The thousand year door has in my opinion even better music,so I can’t in good conscience give the perfect 10 this game.
Addictiveness: 9
In my opinion this game contains one of the best leveling systems invented. You get a level after gaining 100 star points, at which point you can choose to get either Health points, Flower points or Badge points. The system is easy to grasp yet remain interesting for a long time. There’s multiple different ways to level your character, and the game never really punishes you from experimenting with different effects. The different enemies also mean that you’re never just sticking to one strategy that kills everyone like in some other games of the same genre. Simply put, this is the kind of game you want to play over and over again, just to see how many ways you can win. With that said there is a major problem within the leveling system later on. You quickly see that equipping as much badges as possibly is the way to go, but after you’ve reached 30 BP:s you can’t get any more of them. That happened to me after the 4th world and after that point I was mostly just running through the game to see the plot to the end. Thankfully that is also mostly fixed in the sequel.
Story: 9
Although I’ve praised the sound and game play of this game, it’s really the story that truly sells it. The story begins in the traditional Mario way of Villain B kidnapping Princess C, who plumber A has to rescue, but it only uses it as a starting point and from there ventures to abstract heights. Without trying to spoil the game completely it includes:
* A Giant whale used as a method of transport
* Agatha Christie-styled murder mystery.
* A world within a toy box where a spark of light assists you
* A mission where you need to bake a cake to a ridiculously overweight Shy guy.
I’d say if you haven’t chuckled at least once by the time you’ve gotten your first star this game just isn’t for you.
Depth: 8
As seems to be a staple with most RPGs there’s a ridiculous amount of things to do and find. There’s sidemissions including optional boss battles, delivering letters, making recipes, scanning enemies etc. Also there’s a huge amount of badges and star pieces to find. The biggest problem is that most of that just seems to be in vain. Although finding those things is somewhat its own reward and there’s much of aforementioned humor within the missions, the prize just isn’t very big. As I said, there’s a very limited amount of badges you can equip so even if you find something that seems rather neat it most likely just won’t be good enough to replace the ones you’ve already got equipped. When most of the rewards don’t actually help you in any way, you just don’t feel like finding them all that much. Thankfully for completionists they aren’t really complete grinding either.
Difficulty: 4
I’m usually not fond of judging the quality of the game based on its difficulty but for this once I must say it. Paper Mario is too simple. Sure the first castles might give you some trouble as multiple enemies may take ridiculous amount of health from you (especially if they get the first attack) but you’ll most likely reach something close to your peak damage after 3rd or 4th world. I actually beat the strongest enemy of the game (the champion in Toad town) after the third world without even knowing that he actually was the strongest enemy in the game (although it took me three life shrooms). The level bosses may still kill you once, but after you know how they fight you’ll likely have little trouble beating them.
Overall:
The biggest problem of the game definitely is that after first half the games difficulty curve completely halts and you’re left just running through the stages, but if you’re willing to overlook that it’s definitely a shining gem. I still think that there are way too few games where humor is dictating the story and in this case Nintendo absolutely delivers. If possible try to get your hands to the sequel as well. It fixes most of the problems in this game and contains an even better story.

A great addition to the Mario Franchise   rb1295
Paper Mario is a very unique game, that is one of a kind. After playing many other game, I have never once found another game that's quite like it. Being such a unique game doesn't seem to affect how good of a game it is though.
The graphics for this game are different from what you would usually find while playing game. The original style of graphics just work as a signature of the game. Some of the graphics seem a little strange, but just as interesting. With the graphics the way they are, players might start to get drawn in, just to see what is done next.
The sound found throughout the game mostly fit the game. This isn't always the case though. While playing, occasionally there might be a sound effect that at first seems to be out of place, but once you have been playing for awhile, they begin to sound like they are where they should be.
With the uniqueness of this game, it is easy to become addicted to it. With all the possibilities throughout the game, one starts to find the game to be very amusing. While the game has a few serious parts, there are still just as many, if not more, parts that are made to amuse the player. The biggest contributor to this games addictiveness would have to be its originality though, without it, this game would become much like a few others, and in turn become less addictive and entertaining.
At first the story might almost seem to be cliché, but it doesn't take long to realize that it really isn't. The further into the game the player gets, the less and less it seems to be cliché. This is unless one stops to actually think about why you are having to do what you are. The story isn't very short either, which makes it all the better. By giving the protagonist a certain goal right away, it make the story easier to follow and get into. All the various concepts that are put into this game become part of something larger, which make it all the more original.
Throughout the game, there are a few different places where the player can do something else that's not part of the story. While they have the choice to just go through the story without looking for other things, if they just look around a bit, they will find some more to do. By allowing the player to go to and from places as they please, they are allowed more chances to explore and find things they might have previously missed, or couldn't get at the time they were there.
Early on in the game, there isn't much that is explained about playing it, but it doesn't take long to figure it out, either by
yourself or through the tutorials. The controls don't change throughout the game, which make it easier to feel comfortable playing it.
Paper Mario might seem like it would be a weird game just by the title, but by giving it a chance, it is easy to find it as also being a very entertaining game. This is a game that I would recommend to people who are wanting to play something that's different and unique.

Possibly One Of The Best RPG's Ever Made.   123Cheese
Intro:
"Paper" Mario. That one word just makes you go, "What?"
Paper Mario is just one of those games that shines out like a shining star in the N64 library, they'll probably never make a sequel exactly like it. Although, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door Did it pretty well, Super Paper Mario and Paper Mario: Sticker Star, while still being great games, just weren't as good as the original. Well, I'm getting off-topic here, lets get on to the sections of the game.
Graphics:
Well, this game was made to look like everything was made out of Paper, but you were still in a 3-D environment. It did a great job at that. Not sure HOW Nintendo came up with this brilliant idea, but hey, they did it. Everything looks 2-D and 3-D at the same time, kind like 2.5-D, or whatever you wan call that "You're a 2-D sprite that moves into the background and the foreground and the middle and WHOA THAT'S THE ENTIRE SCREEN" kind thing. Dem graphics get a 10.
Sound:
The game sounds like, well, a game. The music fits very well in the situation you are in, while he small sound effects make it feel like you're actually doing something. Oh, that ? Sound. And it's amazing how they were able to fit such well-made sounds into a cartridge. I mean, this was when CD's were around, but Nintendo went all NO and just kept it with cartridges, probably to keep the console a bit less pricey. After all, it was only $200 at launch. Nintendo is always keeping it a bit less advanced than they're competitors, not because they feel like they want to simply make they're games look bad, but they want people to be able to buy the console, not look at it and go, "Wow, that's overpriced". Oh jeez, that's off topic. But, on topic, the sounds gets a 10 as well.
Addictiveness:
If you're in the mood to play some games for hours on end, you got a good game right here. This game can be played for like 6 hours straight for about 3 or 4 days straight, and you won't get bored (Personal experience). If you like Mario games, if you like RPG games, heck, IF YOU LIKE GAMES, you'll be addicted to this game. Unless you're one of those fan boys who hates Nintendo. God, I hate those people. This is just one of those games you'll just be forced to put down. 10 on that.
Story:
Well. There's not much to say about the story, it's kind like you're typical Mario story, but since it's a little different, I'll explain it.
It's a normal day in the Mushroom kingdom, and something arrives at Mario & Luigi's house. It's a letter from Princess Peach/Toadstool/Whatever and she has invited Mario & Luigi to come by the castle. A lot of people are going to be there. So they go over to her castle and you CAN talk with everybody, but that's just delaying the inevitable. If you go up to princess peach in the room she's in, she'll talk with you, blah blah blah, I forgot what she says, and then WHOA the castle is lifted into the sky. Bowser did it, and he has control of the star rod, a special wand that is protected by the star spirits, but apparently isn't anymore, since it's a item in brawl. At least, I'm pretty sure that's what that wand item is...anyway, he has total control over it and is practically invincible. He then knocks you out of the castle and you DIE no, just kidding. And then the game starts from there. Ah, I love these old games that show the title screen of the game after a while. This story gets a 8, because, well, it's a story.
Depth:
The game has ALOT to offer in itself, including hidden passageways, star pieces, items, and other secrets. No spoilers here. The game also takes a long time to beat, as it is an RPG and they don't want it to be 4 hours long. So it's like 40 - 60 hours long.
Difficulty:
Obviously the game was designed for kiddies, so they don't want the game to be hard because then they know that the children will rage and break the N64. But it's not super easy, everybody dies from time to time. Especially when you aren't prepared and you're about to fight somebody, and you're all like "Oh come on, I gotta go all the way back to get that health re-generator? At least the save block isn't that far..."
Overall:
Paper Mario is one of the best RPG games out there, so it deserves it's place in glory. It needs it's praise, the game is a masterpiece to play, you'll often find yourself playing a new file again and again...over and over. Just because of the game. It's so fun. And that's my full-length review of Paper Mario. It's alot longer than most of my other reviews, since I decided to go more in-depth of WHY I chose all of this stuff. I hope you enjoyed my review. Play the game if you don't believe me. If you do, you'll have the same feelings. Or close/similar. Thank you, and good night.

Paper Mario Review   Marcmoney
Overall - 10
Paper Mario on the Nintendo 64 is one of my favorite games of all time.  I remember playing it as a kid and enjoyed playing this game.  I still have the actual game for my Nintendo 64 console and I would play it constantly.  The game was very popular back in the day and every one seemed to enjoy playing it.  This is the first Super Mario game that made everything turn into paper.  It was the most popular game in the world and it still is.  I have beaten it about 10 or more times (I know, that is insane) and I would still play it.  Since I have played it for so many times, I pretty much know my way through the game.  I guarantee you that this game is worth playing if you have not played it before.
Graphics - 10
The graphics were amazing.  Seeing how everything looks in the game and the way the attacks and special moves are just really gets the player's attention.  The effects were astounding.
They are just constantly there and the way it shows out is impressive.  I really love the graphics in the game a lot.
Sound - 10
The sound was the most interesting part of the game.  When you go into battle, it would play a silly tune, but when it comes to being in a battle so serious like side bosses or actual bosses, they would play a serious tune and makes the battle feel that way.  The music during game play can really get stuck in your head, but it never gets annoying.  The sound effects are incredible.  In battle, you can do attacks and other stuff and it would make awesome sounds when you attack an opponent.  It really makes you feel how strong you are determining the enemy you are hitting.  The sound effect on getting an attack of 0 makes it sound indestructible, causing the person that did not get damaged sound invincible.
Addictiveness - 10
Like I said, the game is so much fun to play.  It is very addicting to me and I pretty much cannot stop playing it.  Paper Mario is a great adventure game and that is why it makes the game so interesting, especially when everything is turned into paper.
Story - 10
The story is the best part of the game.  It starts out as Mario and Luigi just enjoying the day and Luigi goes and gets the mail.  Luigi reads it and tells Mario that it says that Princes Peach is throwing a party and they are invited to come.  So Mario and Luigi go to the castle and Luigi tells Mario to go see the princess.  Mario goes upstairs and when they meet, they are just having a great time...until the castle starts to shake.  For some reason, the castle starts to shake and it appears that Bowser's castle comes out under her castle and it starts to fly away with it.  While the shaking stops, Mario and Peach wonders what is going on and then Bowser crashes into the window and saying that he stole the Star Rod (which can make him invincible...literally) and he is now going to verse Mario.  Shockingly, Mario was defeated by Bowser and blasted him out of the castle, falling all the way down from space.  This is where the story begins.  Mario is unconscious and the 7 stars come out (holographic) saying to Mario that he needs to save them and retrieve the Star Rod back.  A female goomba sees Mario unconscious and runs out and asks for help.  Mario wakes up in Goomba Village and sees a toad, saying what had happened to him.  Mario then goes off and starts his adventure.  So the plot of the story is that Mario has to go save the 7 stars, rescue Peach, and defeat Bowser to retrieve the Star Rod back.  When you are playing the game, it is amazing how to whole story of the game is.
Depth - 10
The game has so much to offer.  For instance, you will be having assistance from people in the game that can help you in your adventure.  For some reason, the game shows a good side and a bad side.  For example, there are friendly goombas and friendly koopas and some of them are bad (there are others creatures that are like this).  It is a bit weird, but it turns out to be a very good idea to have.  Another thing is that you can level up Mario to get stronger.  Your partners can do this too, but instead of having level ups, they can get an item that can upgrade them to do more moves.  It is very good to have on the partners.  Also, there are side quests during your adventure like doing favors for people to get prizes, forming food together to have a better item, talking to strange people wanting to do trades, and doing little mini games to get more coins.  It is a very long adventure when it comes to doing all of that.  There are so much more that this game has and I believe that you will know what they are.
Difficulty - 3
The game is not that hard if you are taking time on it.  In some areas, there can be some enemies that are hard to fight and some that are just tricky to beat.  I have no problem with this, but it is difficult when you happen to verse them.  Just be careful when versing some enemies in the game because it can be surprising to see how they are made to fight.  Other than that, the entire game plays fair.
Wrap Things Up...
Paper Mario is a very good game to play.  Like I said, I have beaten it 10 or more times and it is still fun to play.  I highly recommend trying this game out if you have not already.  Everything in this game will make you not want to stop playing the game. :)

The Paper Plumber! ~A Mother3fan5 review~   Mother3fan5
Paper Mario. Where do I begin.
Oh yea, this game was pretty much the game of my dreams. My childhood, in other words, before I discovered EarthBound.
This game has so much to do, so many things to collect, many sidequests, a wonderful battle system, a good overworld, and interesting characters and party members, so i don't know why any Mario fan would dislike this game.
I'd say that Mario in paper was one of the most brilliant ideas ever, and this is the epicness that started an epic series of Paper.
Anyways, down to business with this review...... *le tries to come up with idea*
GRAPHICS: 8.8
This game had pretty good graphics for the N64, I'd say it looked pretty good for a 2001 game.
The characters are obviously made of paper, but they look REALLY good.
But the best things are the effects. The stairs rising in the Koopa Brother's fortress, Dry Dry Ruins rising, all of those effects are amazing for the Nintendo 64. I'd say the badges are neat, too.
This is a pretty good N64 game graphic wise, which is one of the elements that grabbed my attention. Although the graphics only got a year of fame before Super Mario Sunshine quickly passed it. -_-
SOUND: 10
I really love this game's music, although I don't have too much to say about it. :P
I never really liked the enemy and Mini Boss theme, but the Chapter Boss's themes BLEW MY MIND. The Koopa Bros.'s theme was a good theme to headbang to, Tutankoopa was my favorite, Tubba Blubba's theme was good, I liked General Guy's theme, Lava Piranha never really seemed to interest me, Huff n' Puff's theme I never paid attention too, since the battle was so hard that I just paid attention to him :P , and Crystal King's theme is pretty awesome. :D
Some of the overworld music was pretty catchy too, like the route to King Goomba's fortress. Dry Dry Ruins and other dungeon music is pretty good. This game's sound is one of the more attractive parts of it. :3
Addictiveness: 10
This is one of the best games I've ever played, no lie. I can pretty much play this game nonstop, and playing it nowadays brings back so many memories. :"D
I was pretty much playing this game like a man addicted crack when I was younger, and although I prefer EarthBound now, This game is always in my memories.
STORY: 9.7
I really like the game's story. Although I really wanna tell the whole story, to avoid spoilers, I'll just tell the main thing. Spoilers may come up, so be cautious, if it's your call.
So Bowser wants his selfish wishes to be granted, so he constantly asks the Star Spirits to grant his wishes. The Star Spirits don't answer his wishes because of the selfish level. So, Bowser goes to Star Haven, turns them all into cards, and steals the Star Rod to grant his own wishes. He gives the Star Spirit Cards to his minions around the world. Then he goes and lifts Peach's Castle, kidnaps Peach, then sends Mario flying. So, you gotta go save the Star Spirits, collect badges, and gain new party members. I'd say this is a pretty decent story.
DEPTH: 10
I'd say this game really has a lot to offer. Like I said earlier, you have a long, fun - filled story to go through, many badges to collect, lots of side quests, hidden items, and a good battle system. And LOTS of paper! Yea, what else could anyone ask for on an N64 RPG? RPGs on the N64 aren't too common, so this game is good to play.
DIFFICULTY: 5.1
I don't think this game was that hard, although it IS very time consuming to do all of the side quests and collect all the badges. Some bosses are tough, though, like the Master, The Crystal King, Huff n' Puff, and Bowser (Last Battle). I honestly think they're the only hard bosses, so I'll give difficulty a low rating. This WILL be a hard game for you gaming newbies, however.
So yea, This is a VERY good RPG to play, it really has a lot to offer, and I recommend this for any fan of Role Playing Games.

Great Game   TheEmeraldWhirl..
I had heard many great things about Paper Mario for many years before today, though I had never actually played it in all that time. After beating the game today, I realized what I was missing out on.
Graphics
The cutesy, 2-D style of the characters in Paper Mario blends well with the 3-D environment. This mix makes Paper Mario look more like a GameCube game, rather than a Nintendo 64 game. The graphics of the N64 works fairly well with worlds and backgrounds, but doesn't make characters look very good (due to the technology at the time.), so the flat, paper style was certainly the best way to go.
Sound
The moment the Story scene ended, and the Start menu appeared, I found myself enjoying the music for a good couple of minutes before actually starting the game. The music throughout the entire game was either a happy and upbeat tune, or dark and gloomy. The music even shifts in order to fit the current situation, such as the panicky tune when the children went missing, or the mystery like tune when Mario was accused of something he didn't do. The music always seemed to fit what was going on that very moment.
Addictiveness
I played Paper Mario for about six hours a day, everyday, for a week. This is probably one of the most, if not THE most addictive RPG I've ever played, which is odd, since this game comes from a franchise that dominates the platforming genre.
Story
The story is nice. It has everything you'd expect from a Mario game. Mario is have a grand old time, until Bowser shows up a ruins his fun. Be this as it may, there's something much more behind it. It makes you feel bad for the captured Star Spirits, the people of the Mushroom Kingdom, and Princess Peach. You get this strong sense of accomplishment every time you rescue one.
Depth
This game was a lot bigger than I thought it was. I had first thought that, to get through a chapter, you hit a few switches, maneuver around an area, and beat a boss. Boy, was I wrong. I found myself taking a good couple  of hours to get through a chapter (With the exception of the Prologue.) I'm glad it wasn't short though. This is one of my favorite games of all time now. There are so many side objectives to do, and they don't feel like a chore, they feel like something that you want to do.
Difficulty
Paper Mario is easy, with a challenge attached to it. Maneuvering through dungeons, and generally knowing what to do is the easy part. The strategy used in battle, and the efficient use of your items makes you have to stop and think. This is perfect for not getting bored because the game is too easy, while at the same time, not making you quit in a fit of frustration.

Paper Mario Review by AzumaDavid   AzumaDavid
For me Paper Mario has a very close place to my heart being the first Mario game I had ever completed and actually got me into the Mario series and I can safely say if it wasn't for this game I would not be playing Mario to this day.
Okay before I start reviewing the graphics, music and all that I will tell you what I like and disliked about the game. Here we go! My favorite part of the game were the partners personally they gave the game such witty dialogue and quickly Bow, Sushi and Bombette made their way to my favorite three Mario characters to this day, but of course I will admit that I could've done without Goombario and Kooper. Usually I continue playing a game if I like the music and I loved this game's soundtrack and made me play it again and again. Okay those were my favorite parts but the bits I disliked was the puzzles because they were way too easy I mean even the ground pounding puzzle in Flower Fields, one that was supposed to be hard, didn't take me 5 minutes, I wish they had made them a little more difficult, but I suppose they made up for that with some bosses and optional bosses.
The graphics for this game were really good they may have just been 2D but they were so much better than almost all the 3D games on the N64, you can't see the graphics properly in the emulator though, it only had a few graphical glitches mainly cracks on the walls that weren't supposed to be there but I really had no problem with the graphics they were generally really good especially at Shooting star summit, Star Haven and Flower Fields.
Onto the music. I really did state my opinion on the music in the second paragraph, being that it is one of my favorite parts of the game sometimes I would actually just set my controller down and listen to them music for a while and just lie back and chill out. My favorite song from the soundtrack was definitely from Flower Fields (hmm Flower Fields is coming up a lot I wonder what my favorite chapter is) that being said I will  admit I didn't really enjoy the music at Dry Dry Outpost, actually I can remember turning my music down at that point and putting on touhou music in its place, but besides that I still have to say the music is definitely one of my favorite aspects of the game! Also the sound effects were very comedic and fun to hear especially when you were able to switch Mario's Hammer and Jump sound effects up with badges.
I would most definitely play this game again I have completed 5-10 times already and have thoroughly enjoyed every moment of each play through. I love RPGs I find that genre the most addictive for myself and Paper Mario is definitely one of those RPGs that I would play through all day long, again and again!
The story of this game follows any general Mario game. The fair Princess Peach gets captured by the menacing Bowser and the Heroic plumber Mario has to go and save his love BUT with a big twist, Bowser decides to raise Peaches castle high into space with his own castle underneath, also Mario isn't able to beat Bowser up immediately like usual Bowser gets the power of invincibility making Marios attacks useless and then blasting Mario back to Earth where he goes on a journey through the entire Paper world meeting new allies along the way helping save all seven star spirits and the rescuing his lover Princess Peach. The Story is absolutely amazing! And really big I don't really have a problem with it besides as the game goes on the story seems to go down the drain and become a little less entertaining but nonetheless keeps the story going but not as well as it could've done.
The game is fairly long I wouldn't say it was as long as games like Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario 64 or Super Mario Galaxy but goes into great depth I would estimate the game to be around 10-15 hours long which can easily be squeezed into weeks worth of entertainment. I don't really have anything else to say about the depth besides maybe they could have let you continue the game after completing it like letting you just look around all the areas again but you can't always get what you want.
I would say some of the bosses were very challenging namely the Ice King but I wouldn't go as far as saying it is a ten I think eight gets across its difficulty nicely like I said in the second paragraph I think it could've been a ten if the puzzles were a little bit harder and if they made figuring out were to go a little bit more challenging but I besides those two points I don't see how the difficulty could be improved.
In conclusion I give this game an 8.8/10 because like I do I get the mean mark out of the other 6 aspects of the review. I really do enjoy this game and will honestly play it again and again till the day I die, it is just one of those games for me that I could never give up and never will give up . It is a game for my favorite Nintendo system and my favorite game on it as well, Paper Mario on the N64 best combination for me ever!
That is the end of this review for Paper Mario for the N64 one of my most absolute favorite Mario games in the world I really enjoyed making this review and I hope you all enjoyed reading it, if you did read it thank you for taking the time too and finally I hope this review encourages anyone who has not played this game to give it a go. Trust me you won't be disappointed!

Mario's back...but in a flattened form? How will Nintendo Pull This Off   sonicthehedgeho..
*Mario uses jump attack* 2 Damage Given....You earned 25 star points, Level Up- What would you like to increase HP,FP, or BP? Paper Mario was a really innovative for it's time as Nintendo decided to try out something new by creating a Mario RPG but this time adding paper-like graphics to the game. While it may have seemed like a horrible idea on well paper |no puns intended| it actually was a great success for the N64 not as great of a success as let's say for instance Zelda Majora's Mask or Golden-eye 007 however; it still managed to make an great impact on the players during their 1st time through the game. Which goes to show that when a company decides to be creative and try something original no matter how the graphics look it can make an already great series take a whole new turn and still have it be entertaining. However I digress as we should really move onto the review now since you have a good intro started.
Graphics: 7 out of 10
The graphics in this game as you would expect aren't the best on the system since the graphics are in a paper like form however if you were to just judge it on how it looks with its paper like graphics then I would give it a 9 out of 10 however since we must judge it based on other games that were made on the system I'd have to give it an 8 out of 10. Now you're probably thinking why did you say 8 out of 10 when you clearly put a 7 out of 10 rating as your opinion of the graphics of the game? Well I did take one point off cause in an area of Flower Fields there is a graphics glitch that appears whenever you go near this one spot and It's not cause of vizzed emulators it is even like this one the Wii Virtual Console release which I think could have easily been taken out so that's why I gave it a 7 out of 10 instead of an 8 out of 10.
Now the graphics themselves are really appealing and show the hours of work that was put into the games design from the scene of Bowser's castle lifting up into the sky to the dark atmosphere in the forever woods to even the flowery and water filled surroundings of Flower Fields, so I would say that a 7 out of 10 is a fair rating for the graphics in this game so let's move on to the rest of the review.
Sound: 10 out of 10
The music in this game can be easily described with 2 words amazing and nostalgic as the music sound very great on the N64 and it even lives up to some of the music we find in games today just like how Dire Dire Docks theme from Super Mario 64 is still considered to be one of the greatest songs ever made showing up in most Top 10 lists today. Also the fact that songs from Paper Mario are widely considered some of the best songs of all time also shows how nostalgic the music is to many people and gamers across the world.
If I were to list of some of my favorite songs in the game I would Immediately list these songs "Cloudy Climb", "Huffin and Puffin", "Flower Fields Sunshine", and finally "Over Shiver Mountain". Each of these songs injects you with a different feeling inside it could be filling you up with the sense of "Power", "Relaxation", "Happiness", or even "Exploration". The sound effects in this game are what you would expect in a typical RPG game so the sound effects aren't that breath-taking but they are still good for what they are so a 10 out of 10 is the rating I'm giving for sound.
Addictiveness: 10 out of 10
If there is one game I know I never get tired of playing no matter how many times I've played it, the Paper Mario series is one of the many games that first comes to my mind. As it is a very long and interesting game since you have 8 chapters each with there own different environments and enemies, from the desert area with it's large amount of Pokey's to the Flower Fields area with their flower like enemy's to their Monty Moles enemy's, even to the frosty lands of Shiver City with it's icicles and frozen terrain to it's Frosty Piranha's and Gulpit enemies. Also as you move along you gain star points which are used to level up once you get 100 of them, when you level up you have a choice of either upgrading your HP (Heart Points) which is basically your life meter in this game and if it hits 0 then it's game over and you have to start from your last save point, the 2nd choice is upgrading your FP (Flower Points) which you can basically think of as special moves ammunition in which you can use to attack with special moves such as the Spring Jump and the Power Smash, The 3rd and final choice is upgrading your BP (Badge Points) which are used to equip as you would expect Badges that you find during your adventure which enable you to do new moves (special or non-special), gain a power-up such as the (Zap Tap) badge were it makes you electrified and will last until you decide to take the badge off, or allow you to attack an enemy that you normal wouldn't be able to attack due to certain circumstances like having a spike on their head/body or being engulfed in fire which you can attack normally if you equip the (Spike Shield Badge or the Ice Power/Fire Shield Badge). So if you wanted you could try and upgrade all of the stats completely that is something you could do or if you wanted to defeat the master of the dojo in toad town then you could as well, there is alot to do in this game and the boss battles are also enjoyable which gives this game a high addictiveness level in this game so a perfect 10 out of 10 is deserved here.
Story: 10 out of 10
Now you're probably thinking "well it's a Mario game so it's most likely about Bowser kidnapping Princess Peach and bringing her to his fortress and Mario has go through the mushroom kingdom until he reaches the end right?" Well in this game that isn't exactly correct as yes princess peach does get kidnapped  however there is a much bigger and different story than alot of the other Mario games before it as in this game Mario tries to save Princess Peach from Bowser's clutches however when Mario is about to take down Bowser, Bowser reveals that he stole the Star Rod (no not the star rod from Kirby) from the Star Haven and has imprisoned the seven Star Spirits of Star Haven so by stealing the Star Rod Bowser uses it's energy to make him extremely powerful to where Mario can't even damage him and Mario ends up being defeated YEAH that's right MARIO LOST TO BOWSER! The only way Mario can stop Bowser is to collect all the star spirits that Bowser has imprisoned to gain enough power and prepare for a re-match with Bowser and defeat him this time so he can bring peace back to the Mushroom Kingdom and the Star Haven. It is an amazing story and really takes a dramatic turn at the beginning and makes the player really interested in the game to where they will want to continue playing the game until the end which is what every game should try and do. A really good and innovative story so 10 out of 10 once again I what I give this game story wise.
Depth: 10 out of 10
Like I stated in the addictiveness part of the review this is alot that you must go through in this game and lots of other things you can do before you finish the game as well. Since there are 8 chapters in the game it will take some time before you make it all the way to the end as every chapter that you finish the next one is usually longer than the previous one not only that but if you were trying to get lets say 100% completion then you will definitely have many hours that you will be spending on the game. If you are willing to put in the time and effort into this game then it will surely pay you back with many hours of enjoyment that is able to come so a 10 out of 10 is what Paper Mario is receiving for depth.
Difficulty: 5 out of 10
Paper Mario on Nintendo 64 isn't exactly a extremely difficult game but it isn't a fairly easy game either as there are some parts in the game that can be confusing at first but you should be able to understand it soon enough once you start experimenting with it however it also isn't a massively hard game as there are some tricks that you can use to help you defeat a boss or solve a puzzle faster or easier. One example of having a puzzle being easier or done faster is a section of Flower Fields were you have to lower or raise platforms in able to make it to the other side is to take your party member Lakilester and looks at all the platforms and how they would raise higher or fall lower whenever you spin jumped onto them by doing this it can save you time and you can easily make it to the other side without any major problems.
A trick that can be used to make some bosses easier are for example: on Lava Piranha if you uses alot of water or ice attacks he should go down quickly and won't really be able to attack that much and by using the Ice Power badge along with those attack it will really help out because as I described in my addictiveness part of the review the Ice Power/Fire Shield badge lets you attack enemies that are on fire. Another example is the boss Huff N' Puff as to make this boss easier you are going to want to use the Star Power attack "Chill Out" to lower his attack power so that way whenever you attack him and those mini Huff N' Puff clouds come out they won't be able to do any damage to you, also having the Zap Tap badge on can also be helpful for when he charges up his attack and is electrified as having the badge on will enable you to still attack him without receiving any damage which is very helpful and effective against him. There are many more tricks in the game but I think this is enough for the review as I don't want to give away everything about the game so difficulty wise a 5 out of 10 is what I think this game deserves.
So that is Paper Mario for the N64 a great game by Nintendo which really took an interesting turn by using paper quality graphics instead of just regular Mario series like graphics all the while having this game be an RPG which really shows that Nintendo can come up with a simple kind of game design but still make a really great and innovative game which I why I love Nintendo as a gaming company. However I must state this while this is one of my favorite games on the N64 this isn't my most favorite Paper Mario game as it is only my 2nd favorite since my favorite is on a system that isn't available on vizzed so unfortunately I cannot do a review on that Paper Mario game. But our time is running out here as we have to stop Bowser before he succeeds with his wicked plan so let's get this mustached plumber into action and prepare for an epic adventure!

Paper Mario's Review   InsaneGamer
This game I love to play but I'm not going to give it all tens. I would say it deserves a few playthroughs. I have beaten it once and I loved it very much. The bosses are fun to do and it can be a challenge when trying to get 100% which takes a lot of patience. If you ever want to try and beat it 100% I say good luck. This game deserves to be in a hall of fame of RPGs along with Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy. The story to it is great and keeps the player interested. I for one was completely drawn in and wish to play it again on here if my computer could push it right now. It does deserve multiple play throughs just to see every skill and everything you can get in it. People will try and bash it i believe and say its not that great but I am a supporter of this great game. I hope many will play this and keep it going and high in the rankings of most games played here on Vizzed. This is also a very humorous game to keep people happy and willing to try again and again if they die. So much happens in the game you will keep you in and then go back through it just to play the story again to see the humor and also a great release from the casual Mario games. While many put it off because of it being Turn based battle system it can be very helpful to see as its not a constant turn based game. It may turn many away because of th graphics not being good as the games now it is a great addition to the Vizzed Game Room and will keep people interested at all times. I assure you that if you start playing it that it is a hard game to put down. While I absolutly love the game I trust that others feel the same about this great game and the hand drawn stuff in it. The way the stuff looks and Areas and characters will give reminders to other Mario games like Super Mario world or Super Mario 64. Its a great game to have some release and you won't lose your cool like some people will while playing online on starcraft or MW3(got nothing against you people i got same problem) But it is indeed a game you can't get seriously mad at because of parts and bosses that are humorous and will make you laugh at all times. I do pray that more people wouldn't be turned away from games like this because it has a lot of reading and its turned base which makes it a great game. I also pray that this game gets even more plays then it already has and almost pass up Pokemon emerald in games played on Vizzed. that is my review and I hope anyone who has read this will consider what I said.

A masterpiece   cooldragon1990
When I first played this fantastic game I was 10 and unable to fully appreciate this gem of a game. Now at 21 I bought it on the wii store and loved every minute of it. I think this is even better then the 2nd one. There is alot of humor and toungue-in-cheek at that.
Graphics: The grahpics are amazing (I am very easy to please) The game's stic is everything is made out of paper and the game accomplishes this easily
Sound: The Sound is at times humorous and not faked or canned though there is a badge that causes the sound effects of your hammer/attacks to change.
Addictiviness: This game is awesome I beat it twice once when I was 10 and once at 21. In my opinion it is very addictive with PLENTY to do. If you get bored, then you didn't find all this game has to offer. I STILL haven't found all there is to find and I am on my third playthrough of it.
Story: I am not picky about story, if I can understand it then its good enough for me. The basic plot would be ruined if I give the plot in a review. Definitly know that you won't regret it.
Depth: Not counting one long sitting, this game is very long depending on if you know what your doing. I personally beat it in 21 hours but not in one sitting.
Difficulty: Basic skill and some strategy are involved but some bosses can regenrate lost health so they might give you a hard time. But this game isn't hard at all. Unleass you just plain suck at RPGs.
Conclusion: Defintly worth owning/playing. Since the n64 is obsolete new games are found on Amazon only (as far as I know. This does not count multiple sites like Amazon)and some used games are found very rarely in certain stores that sell retro gaming. The best course of action? Get a wii and play it on the virtual console or on this site. This game is on my list of games I can play forever. If I had to choose one game to play for the rest of my life, this game is on that list.

Paper Mario Review   earthwarrior
Overall
Paper Mario is a great Nintendo 64 game made by Nintendo. Once again you are Mario trying to stop Bowser from taking over the world, but this time all of the characters in this game are two dimensional. If you slide the camera around the characters will be as thin as paper. This is why the game is called Paper Mario. You can fight enemies by jumping on them, using your hammer, or by using one of the many items you will find throughout the game! This truly is a wonderful game.
Graphics
The graphics in this game are great. There is a lot of detail in the items, characters, and battles. The theme of the game is paper so everything is thin. Even you. When you fall, you fall flat and when you beat enemies sometimes they fall flat too.  When you go through houses the walls fold down and the menu is paper too.
Sound
The sound in this game is very familiar it has the classic Mario themes and new ones you wont soon forget. If you take the time to listen too them you will like them and maybe play it to hear the music.
Addictiveness
This game isn't very addicting though. It is like most other good rpg's. Some people would feel that they paid for it and they don't want to waste their money while others will really enjoy it. If you like Mario and rpg's you will like it, but if you don't like either you may not like it.
Story
The story in this game is great. Bowser stole the princess Peach's castle and kidnapped princess Peach too. Mario tried to defeat him, but Bowser stole the powerful star rod from star haven and easily defeated him. It is up to you to help Mario find the seven star spirits, rescue princess Peach, stop Bowser's evil plans.
Mario is smart and saves Peach every time
Peach is the princess of the mushroom kingdom and is a kind gentle ruler
Bowser is an evil koopa king and kidnaps princess Peach
Luigi Mario's younger brother who can be scared or helpful at times
Depth
This game has a lot in. There are lots of different attacks. You equip different badges to get different attack and each badge is different from the last. The characters you will find are very helpful too.
The star spirits are seven wise star that live in star haven. They watch over the mushroom kingdom and guard the star rod. They came down to Earth to help Mario, but some get captured by Bowser's minions.
The towns people give Mario useful information and help him on his quest to save princess Peach.
Mario's partners have many different abilities. They help him defeat the bosses and they help you find items.
There is also a place to mix items to get better ones. If you go there often it will greatly improve you chances of winning battles.
Difficulty
This game is like most others. If you don't train it is hard, but if you do it is easy. In the beginning it is very easy but in the end it can be very hard.

Best RPG Game ever!   winfred
Paper Mario combines traditional role playing game elements with concepts and features from the Mario series. Many of the game's puzzles and boundaries are based upon the abilities of Mario's partners, who each have a specialized skill required for progression in the game.Despite this, other reviewers complained about the "brain-dead easy" puzzles and bosses requiring "basic strategy at best".The game's nostalgic value was lauded, with reviewers noting the sense of familiarity with the Mario series present in the game's settings and characters. And I recommend to everyone that you should play this awesome classical role playing game, even the IGN's Matt Casamassina praised the game accessibility, commenting that "it serves as the perfect introductory game to any person hoping to explore the genre".And I'm very thankful to Vizzed that I can play this game in my whole life in my PC.Paper Mario, your the BEST of all games!

Paper Mario   Oraeus
Paper Mario is one of the greatest RPGs that can entertain he young and the old. Fight your way through many classic Mario enemies, but this time, your in a 3D world with 2D characters, which gives the "paper" look.
Paper Mario offers a turn based battle system, similar to many platform RPGs. Along the way, you recruit a variety of wacky followers that can help you through the world to -what else- save Princess Peach from Bowser.
The story, although simple to understand, has many side plots and quests for you to complete, giving it that RPG feel you know and love. Collect Badges, and equip the ones of your choice to gain special moves, extra FP points, or just to make crazy sounds when you use your hammer.
I give Paper Mario a 9.5, due to the game having some graphical errors (many of the N64 games due) that come up sometimes during gameplay.

Great Game of the N64 era   pacman1755
This game here is one of the most famous N64 games of all time, Paper Mario, it is super addictive to me, it does not get old at all. The Story is the same as always, save Peach from Bowser like always only you are saving Star Spirits as well, so not bad of a story. Difficulty is hard at times, but most of it is easy if you keep leveling up. RPG style gaming, the sound track is very memberable and I love the music of each world. Graphics were awesome as well, truly looks like everything is paper. :P Overall, this game is very good, and I suggest that you go to the RGR and play this game now. Have Fun!

Paper Mario 64   Jesse Powell
This is pretty good game for Nintendo 64 you start out in peach's castle and walk to the hall where you meet the princess and talk to him than boswer begins to move the peach's castle into the sky on top of boswer's castle then boswer bust the window in the hall to fight Mario onces mario is defeated by boswer's star rode mario gets thrown out of the castle windows then falls down to gooma family forest then the seven stars appear to help mario get to the towns house next to gooma family house in the bed then one of the star spear appear to talk to mario then toad walks in the house to check on mario to see if he is alright after falling out the castle in sky now mario starts out 10 HP 5 FB 3 BP
then you walk out of towns house talk to goombario by the gate to try to get pass but the witch guy that comes from the peach's castle destory the gate blocks the path to gooma fortress now you go to the gooma house and walk to the back door where the floor falls after the yellow hit the ground on the gate now you end up by the playground this where you find the wooden hummer in the grass once you get hummer and go back out the egg guy shows up then trys to battle you. you beat him and get back gooma home and destory the block on the gate this is where Goombario joins your partern as you receive a badge then use it then you go through the way where you destroy the yellow block and fights some Goomba then once you reach the goomba fortress you will fighting the red and blue goomba and as well as the goomba king then fight the red and blue goomba again once all three are defeated you find the blue switch next to the fortress to open the bridge

Here is my review of Paper Mario for the Nintendo 64!
Paper Mario is the first of the Paper Mario Series!
Story: 9 The Story Is That Bowser goes to Star Haven and Takes the Star Rod and Captures the Star Spirits, Locking them inside cards and hiding them in the Minion Fortresses. Mario then goes to a party at Princess Peach's Castle. Then Bowser Uses the Star Rod to create His Castle Under Peach's Castle to lift both castles into the sky. Mario Faces Off Against Bowser but fails because the Star Rod made him Invincible. Mario Then Wakes Up In Goomba Village and goes on a journey to save The Seven Captured Star Spirits and Take Back The Star Rod From Bowser! So The Story Is Very Packed and very Interesting to me
Sound: 7 The Sound Track is not bad but I do not like much, my favorite would be Tubba Blubba's Theme.
Graphics: 4 For The Nintendo 64 The Graphics are not that good at all. The Super Mario Bros For NES has better graphics than this game.
Depth: 10 The Game Does Take about 5+ Hours To Complete and What I like about the game is the Save Blocks, They are in every perfect area to be in. They Are New Items such as Life Shroom, Ultra Shroom and many, many more. This Game also introduces Badges which changes Mario's abilities, Up Defense, and much, much more.
Difficulty: 5 The Game is not too hard to beat even though it is long and the controls are very easy to learn. some puzzles and mazes in this game may be hard to learn at one point, but its not too hard like you can't play it.
Addictiveness: 5 Some People may like to play this game more than one time, but for me, I like to play it only once because I do not like the game too much, but it is not too bad.
Overall: So That Pretty Much Wraps Up My Review Of Paper Mario!
The Game In My Opinion, I believe they could do better.

Paper mario the best game ever.   grantjking14
This game will always be one of my all time favorites. I have always been a huge Mario fan so it came as no shock that I loved this game. I enjoy the idea of a "paper" mario. This games story is that Bowser has taken the Star Rod from Star Haven and is now invincible. He has captured the 7 star spirits and hidden them across the world. Mario must gather these star spirits in order to defeat Bowser. Along the way you get partners that are usually enemies of mario such as goombas, koopas, and boos. There will be many side quests and fun things to do along the way and you can also put badges on to help you in battle. This is a very fun turn based RPG for all ages.

A Great Beginning to the Paper Mario Series   ClearAsCrystal
Paper Mario (64) review
Paper Mario is a perfect beginning for the "Paper Mario" sub series and is definitely  worthy of the Mario franchise. It's graphics are great for 64 graphics and it's sounds are "Mario" (enough said :) ) It's addictiveness is almost dangerously so; I can hardly put down my controller and sometimes forget I don't need to wait for the save block (which I used to use as an excuse XD) The story is the typical "Save Princess Peach from the princess-crazed Koopa King Bowser" but once again Nintendo gives this typical goal more of a story along with it (which makes every Mario game fresh and new for gamers.) The depth of this game is as high as the addictiveness: if you're like me, you won't want to put it down for quite awhile. The difficulty of this game isn't too hard controls wise. The controls are simple and easy to understand and use. The game itself is relatively challenging as to progress further; this game has what which every good game has: challenge. If you are a fan of the Mario series, Paper Mario is a highly recommended! :D

Paper Mario   asdren
I know this is a good game, and I will buy it, but thousand year door was perfect. I LOVED it. It was my first, and still my favorite RPG. I remember waking up early before school to play it. Sometimes at 4 in the morning, and then falling asleep on the couch and missing school completely. That kind of magic I have not found in a game since.
I love the Mario RPG series (Super Paper Mario notwithstanding) I'm currently inclined to pass on this game. Badges were my favorite part of the Paper Mario series and I hate to see them completely abandoned in favor of an arbitrary choice.Good game-just as charming as you'd want a Paper Mario, but if this game could be remembered by one word, I think it would be "pointless." Some of the game's central elements feel meaningless or forced, and it's disappointing that other elements that made the previous Mario RPGs so great have been completely stripped away. Still, I'm enjoying it. Thnx

Paper Luigi! oh sorry. Paper Mario   King Sull
Well hello every one I am here with another review. It is Paper Lui- I mean Paper Mario *rolls eyes*  I like this game and the paper Mario series.  This game while glitchy on  the site is still great. I came here to vizzed just for this game. It kind a reminds me of another game Super Mario Rpg. Well I got to write a review now. uuuugghhh. So grab your paper Mario and write these notes down.
Graphics- 6
Well most things are sprites not a lot of polygons. While the scenery is nice and the game is not bad looking. Mario looks fine and so does his partners and when going through buildings it shows a flip that is kind a cool to look at. The stages are well made. But it would have been better if the characters were in  3d like Origami. But It is called Paper Mario so meh. While I think some things could have been better It is pretty awesome.

To be honest I was listing to the theme songs in Sonic adventure 1 and 2 (All hail Eggman  within the Eggman empire Canada does not  apply) So I am just going to rate the music I did hear. It's kind a good but not the best. I rather listen to other music. I just did not think it was the best. But then again music is Sega's department. (Sega does what NintenDon't) NEXT!
Addictiveness - 5
It is a kind of addicting but not that much after you beat the game you just sell the game on EBay or some thing. I mean It is a long game  and it makes you want to come back and play it again. Also the last part of it is the Drum roll! *Drum roll* The Pit of 100 trials! It is a pain in the butt, but since you die a lot you keep coming back making money to get items. Also to get the full  cook book from the chef. The 100 pit of trials you get rewards which are useless after you beat  the game. Also to fill in the tattle box that Goombario (Who came up with that Goombella was better anyways <.< ) But not a lot of people actually want to do that only completion people. Now to rush and have a bad review and fix it later! (vacation)
Story - 6
A story in a Mario game that is absurd! Well there is that part that Bowser kidnaps princess peach (She is insane in my opinion Mood swings and she lets herself to be kidnap also where the h*** are her guards!?) but wait there is more! Bowser went to Dreamland I mean star sa-  star road (I forgot sorry) and stole the  star rod (From Kirby you sneaky jerk) that allows him to have any wish (Bowser's  arms!) so he becomes invincible (he should have wished to be more smart). Oh yeah the partners. Well there a multiable partners in the game. They have a bit of  a back round story well some. You  have a partner who is a Goomba who is quite a fan of you and wants to join you on your adventure. A koopa who wants to be a archaeologist and he also wants to help. (Them fan boys pffft) Another partner (Prepare for horrible puns) is the "Bomb" who will "explode" out of temper  at times, but with her it's a "blast" (I am a horrible person but have you guessed yet?) and she is a bo-omb. there are others but they will spoil  the story.
Depth - 7
I rate this a 7 because the game has more to offer. The story it self is has quite a lot of depth for a Mario game. There are side missions to do that help get money or more story.  Also the 100 pit of trials takes forever! Now that is basically it. (if you are asking why. It is because there are tons of side missions the trials take over 4 hours and the story takes quite awhile it self)
Difficulty - 6
The game is hard if you are bad at timing but after you master that it gets easier. The missions are also kind of hard if you do not know what to do.Like the 100 pit  of trials are recommended after you beat the story. If you do not know where to go or what to do you will have a hard time.
Over all - 8.2
My score.. For this game is...... DRUM ROLL! *Drum roll sound*. 8.2 I like the game and all but it is not that good compared to others.  Sure there is a lot to do the battles are fun but it takes for ever to beat the game. How long it takes is the only thing I do not like. Everything else s fine or perfect. Well that is all I have to say today good bye. Join me on my next review which is ....... some thing. This has been a good review up until the end by yours truly Paper Luigi. That wraps this up. Wait scrap that I didn't do enough puns!

Paper Mario : Game review   supercool22
Paper Mario : Game Review
I think this game is great , is just that I don't play it Know more because it kind of got boring , but overall the game is hard to beat in all ways .ONE DAY I WILL BEAT THIS GAME EVEN IF IT TAKES ME FOREVER ! Here is what I think of the game .
Graphics : 8
You can't say the graphics are bad just because its paper , paper could be in 3D , that's why the graphics are great .
Sound : 6
The sounds and Music are kind of annoying some times , but its okay the game is great anyway .
Addictiveness : 8
This game is Addictive , I could play this game for along time , but I decide not to play the game for awhile . Anyway its a very Addictive Mario Game at times .
Story : 9
Paper Mario has a super long story , it takes me about 4 weeks to beat the game ,  not only that is super long I take my time beating the game . You can't rush perfection .
Depth : 8
This game offer a lot to people who likes this game , from Defeating enemies and bosses , to Leveling Up and a whole butch of other stuff that I can't currently think of in this moment .
Difficulty : 10
This Game is completely hard to beat  , I have never beat the game ever which is sad but I don't care , you should never quit , even when things get rough . That something everyone should know .
So that is it , Hope you like my review , and have a great Day . :D :D :D

Mario   tvgray7
Mario is one of my favorite games to play so I knew I was going to play this right away. When I started to play paper Mario I knew from the beginning that it was going to be a great game. Since I haven't finished the game yet I don't know how the story is going to turn out but what I have played been great. Its been a great story and it gives you a little difficulty so it will not seem easy. I love the graphics of the game, it gives it a good feel when your playing and makes it more addictive. My favorite part of the game is how you can customize your move when you fight . Paper Mario is a great game and once I'm done with it I will make another review of it.

paper mario review   frank5959
this game isn't a bad game. will the graphics is bad but the story makes all better. mario has to fight bad guys to level health, badge, flower points with star point you get for defeating them. also in every chapter you have to defeat a boss which does't give you the priness but star people which they give you a power. will sounding is also good you can mostly everything. i would want other people to play this game but it's fun but it also has a another problem the game is too long it will take a week or so too finish the whole game. this game is also difficult mostly when you have low health or when have too face the boss after every chapter but i like hard games and when they take long. overall i would people to play this game and i will also too play it again some day.

one of the best mario rpgs   SuperCrash64
Graphics for n64 standards its really good and impressive
Sound  there a bunch of wacky sound effect in there   the best feature however is the music  the music is just freaking incredible
i would listen to it a lot  my favorite theme is the battle theme because it lets you know  whats going to go down
Story pretty much the same as the other mario games bowser and gang  has kidnapped the  princess peach  and you have to beat everyone
in order to rescue her
Addictiveness  it really freaking  fun  i would play it to the end of this day  because thats just how freaking kick butt this game is
Depth the game is full of a lot of bosses  items parteners  you name it the game is more challenging later on  i even got my butt kicked by
general shy guy  the most challenge person in this game i think is  huff n puff thats just my opion
Difficulty  this game  will put you to use many and different strategies against your foes
Overall its really good game a fun an addicting one its freaking classic for a reason

Amazing Game.   jayron122
This game is amazing! I love the story it's really fun and really catchy.  Also it's hard to level up and if you do not level up you will not go far in the game I realized that.  But overall this game is amazing I never played it on the Nintendo but I wished I did I saw it in stores but never got it and I really regret that now.  So you should try this game if you never had.

Paper Mario Review   MalleoQuester
Graphics - The graphics are wonderful especially in the battles where the attack animations are really good and not overdone. The overworld graphics are really impressive as well with little blur or glitches in there. It looks a lot like a GameCube game rather than an N64 game. The characters are also done neatly as well.
Sound - I like a lot of the sound used during the battle and when the villains make appearances because each is different and it hardly get boring. What's more the music for the battle is upbeat and positive so it won't frustrate you.
Addictiveness - This game is incredibly addictive because of its charming scenery, good sound, and interesting story will keep making you want to play this game until the very end and even then you want to play the whole game again for the joy of it.
Story - The story is similar but it does have its differences. The story is similar to Super Mario RPG except Bowser is the villain and not Master Smithy. Can I please have a villain other than Bowser? Its not that I hate him its just that he is starting to get old and overused.
Depth - This game is really deep as well as it being good.
Difficulty - It is really difficult if you try to beat it without using attack items that come in handy when Mario has low HP and there are some frustrating enemies but I can cope with that.
Overall - It is an extremely good game that needs a few touch to be better. But aside from that this is one of the many golden N64 games on this site.

Paper Mario reveiw   fartman22
Paper Mario was a very innovative game for its time , I loved how the game introduce Mario as like you have never seen him before Paper in a origami like world filled with the creatures and people of mushroom world and the music was very catchy and this rpg made me get into rpgs and I have played every Paper Mario game since. I love the battle system because it was very fun because if you ran into an enemy you had to use your hammer or jump ability but you could get badges to increase the power of the attack but it suck it took up BP which is badge points .
The story is like very other Mario Game but this one was paper and this game also introduced the partners system of using enemies as partners and you need to use these partners to solve partners in later paper Mario games
the thing I did not like was the bosses they were hard and complicated sometimes i had to train to level up so i can beat the boss and i have beaten the final Bowser so i would rate this amazing game 10 out of 10 power stars and recommend this game to anyone who loved super Mario rpg and any other game to play Paper Mario and the other games in the series there all a great play.
so this is my review of Paper mario for n64.

Paper Mario is a great series to play! The graphics in this is incredible its like modern day cartoons! The music is incredible! It is like music today from other games. The story is great too. It starts with bowser kidnapping the princess like how most Mario games start. There is lots of game play in the game and there is a bunch of unlockables to use in the game to help you along your quest. The game is difficult since you have to time most things correctly to do more damage to enemies. Overall I still think this is a great game to play.

mama mea this is such a good game for the n64   Thundergod99
Graphics 10
While the graphics dont exactly render the neat 3d effects of the n64  the sprites the stages rather seem to have a good 2d effect on them they seem to have a smooth and refreshing appeal  heck i love they whey the move and do attacks  they dont look floopy or choppy at all the graphics of this game  are very well done
Sound 9
well its a 2d mario rpg  the sound effects its self rather seem similar to the classic mario games which i dont really mind . the soundtrack is just a bunch of wacky and awesome tunes it just seems to have a neat style to it . heck even when your fighting a boss it gives you that feeling that you know what crud is going to go down
Addictiveness 10
paper mario is one of my favorite games of all time . i dont know why but this adventure game just seems to have a certain appeal to it that makes it fun  i think the overall wacky gameplay is my favorite feature of this game
Story 10
basically mario and luigi get a letter from peach which is a invitation to her party at the castle  as usual bowser and his gang use the castle as a trap so the first battle is hopeless  . but there are a lot of cut scenes where you play as peach to figure out where bowser is hiding the star spirits .my favorite part is where the shy guy go s crazy when eating a cake lol that makes me laugh a lot :D
Depth 8
Paper mario offers alot of challenging bosses parteners items upgrades you name it . you can even find out some embarssing secrets of luigi by reading his diary lol
Difficulty 5
its some where between easy and hard for me  its pretty easy in the begining if you know what your doing later on though when your fighting people like huff n puff it gets challenging  heck i barly beat bowser i would have lost to him if i didnt by so many live shrooms
Overall paper mario has always been a great experince to play i alest played it four times before i stopped its just that darn good of a game this is one of the games that is totally worth a try  i been addicted and so has alot people so you should check it out i recommend it

something happended yesterday the game was working well but then they are putiing errors happen when im going to play my saved state
Zem the Mattress 07-29-16 - 04:15 AM
I like how all of these complaints can be fixed by playing the game on the 64. I mean, I know not everyone has that luxury, but all of these issues are with the emulator itself.

I've never used the cheats or online version, but did you try the two under the enable codes line in the cheats section here? If those don't work, try googling it.

Am I the only one to whom this is their favorite game of all time?! Especially playing it on a 64. So classic. I felt nostalgic so I'll be playing back through on my 64 the next few weeks too! (on my 64, though it'd be cool to have my score here and pics

I always found Mupen to be better, but for some games 1964 is better. Try both.
