Mk4 review   SuperCrash64
Introduction: time to review a another game, this 1 is Mortal Kombat 4 on the Nintendo 64 system.Ever since the Mortal kombat series started out with mortal kombat 1 and we still keep on getting our gore and our precious blood baths, which mk in general has been very famous and well known for it's blood gore and deadly finishing moves...,so how does Mortal Kombat 4 turn out? Let's find out in this review.
Gameplay: The gameplay of Mk is basically a new fighting game in the source well taking off from the mk3 all the way up to the excellent mkt. Mk3 was merely a good sucess, not many had play it do to It's new combo system, which in general had made mk3 a good moderate sucess, the combo system would however just mostly affect the beginners and some who in general just got tired of being crushed by others who knew how to work the combos with certain characters,I know what you're thinking but it's not juggle combos.. ,It's actually a button order sequence type of combos that would unleash massive amounts of damage on your foes...Anyways as For Mortal Kombat 4's gameplay. The gameplay is also sort of like Mk3,but this time the random combo's are done with Massive amount of special moves and some are not so umm..,overpowered,as I would say. Certain characters have some of there special moves...you know there configuration of the special moves changed as for raidens thunder bolt where it used to be like a simple config to do it,but now it's a bit more hard to figure out. Anyways I say the gameplay rather makes up this game's thrill and boy it is action packed with Lot's of blood coming your way.
Graphics: From what I know this game was the first 3d fighting game in the Mortal Kombat franchise..,so like many other common 1st 3d fighting games during this erra of fighting games..,The sprites would generally have there normal,as I would say 3d polygon fourm and the way this game turned out..., even if it's pretty old the 3d effect of the fighters and stages rather makes Mortal Kombat 4 look more well aged then some of the previous 2d Mortal kombat games. This game offers newer stuff as well for the characters such as separate costumes for each fighter, which is rather a nice touch to add to the 4th Mortal Kombat game. The Sprites and Mortal kombat gang are here as well as some newer characters, who have not showned up in the previous games and they look and fight very nicely. The stages: The stages rather have that old mortal kombat style You know with spikes blood skulls and other stuff everywhere etc. The stages Rather look nicely done in this game it has that old creepy natural style to it,but I'm sure it's not all that creepy once you get used to the natural Mk features. In general I like scorpions stage and all of the others, they have a nice touch.Endings:* I'm not gonna lie, I'm just gonna spit it out*The endings look just awful on the Nintendo 64 version of Mk4 as characters animation is pretty choppy The characters don't look well appeared,as they are quite blurry and zoomed out and just in general the endings look bad on this version when compared to the ps1 version of the game. Animation: while in general I did say it did look bad for the endings, but in the natural game modes the animation is rather nice,The fighting stances rather look pretty good and zoom in with the characters quite nicely, especially the camera like angel that this game sometimes gives you,so in all fairness of the graphics of this game, I'll give it a 8 out of 10 excellent.
Sound: Really when comparing The Nintendo 64 version of mk4 to the other mk4 ports.. There's not much wrong going on with the sound effects,as they are very nice quality sounding and very accurate to the arcade counterparts, Each of the characters Voice samples again rather work well choosened with their graphical designs "aka" the look and feel of the characters. The only flaw I found with the sound effects were the ending voice's sound compressed"aka"somewhat blurry, they are just not as clear as they are in the ps1 version of mk4(Soundtrack: The soundtrack was ok..,But really I found nothing horrible dark twisty about the soundtrack, which I rather find sad, because I usually expect that in a Mk game oh well. The soundtrack is pretty much meh.."aka" I just rather forgot about the soundtrack while playing the game(Sorry It just didn't sound so catchy to me) Sound rating I'll give it a 6 out of 10 not bad
Addictiveness: I find Mk4 fun for it's combos challenge crazy wacky grunts XD and the massive load of bloody fun you can have while playing this game, The game has multiple combo's with neat special moves to knock out your foes it just works well and it's pretty fun to pull off. disregard my reason for finding this game addicting, because I didn't really find mk4 all that fun to play.Addictiveness rating I'll give it a 6 out of 10.
Story: From what I've understand This game immeadlity rather took off After Mortal kombat trilogy, because If you played as Noob saibot the turn of events after his ending actually take up right here.So After Mk trilogy Shao khan was defeated by Noob saibot Quan chi had lead a amulet to Shinnok, leading him to his escape. So now you must pick a character go through a classic bunch of towers and defeat the lord Shinnok"aka" a corrupted elder god who got sented into either the neatherrealm or chaosrealm by Raiden,So he's gonna seek out his revenge unless you defeat him. Story rating I'll give it a 7 out of 10
Depth: The game doesn't take all that long to beat There's training mode Arcade mode as well as 2 player mode. But for the main game it doesn't take all that long to beat, Depending on which tower/difficulty you have it on,but the game in general doesn't really take all that long,Like other fighters during the time This game has some easy and hard characters to work with "aka" there combos and special moves. Like liu kang is a pretty easy character, Shinnok rather takes some time to work with. Anyways depth rating I'll give it a 6 out of 10
Difficulty: I'll amdit This game is pretty easy I understand some characters can be hard like goro and others, but again I'm not gonna lie I'm just gonna spit it out. Shinnok was a pretty easy boss. I don't really get this. I mean last time in mk1 goro was harder then shang tsung, and this game has a pattern like mk1 because goro is harder for me to fight then Shinnok is. The controls aren't bad,but a little hard to work with mainly do to the n64 control setup. Difficulty I'll give it a 5 out of 10
Overall Mk4 Is a good n64 game and a great fighter totally worth checking out. Nice visuals good gameplay nice story,Bad looking endings, good sound,a alright soundtrack, overall rating I'll give this game a 9.1 for the Nintendo 64 version of Mk4

FINISH HIM!!!   Jamal999
Firstly: a bit of glitches: for example, I don’t see the health bar! Is it the same for You?
-Genre: Fighting (splatter XD)
-Developer: Midway Games, Eurocom, Digital Eclipse (for different consoles)
-Publisher: Midway Games
-Years: 1997 (arcade) – 1998 (Nintendo 64,Playstation, Pc, Gameboy Color) – 1999 (Dreamcast) [Other versions and
prequels/sequels are available on Vizzed.com!!!]
-Players: 1-2 (VS in many different modalities)
-In a fistful of words: FLAWLESS VICTORY!!! Or…GET OVER HERE!
-Introduction:
Even though someone didn’t like the 3D transition of this epic saga, this first effort had a huge success (It was played by millions
of gamers on 6 different consoles, considering the arcade version too). And this episode isn’t unfaithful to the true gore and violence, to the bloody, hardcore style of this series: just look to the squirting blood when you hit the enemy or to the results of a fatality (if You look up there, in “Mortal Kombat 4 cheat and codes” You’ll see a precious tip for the automatic fatality!)…It will be a real massacre, and if You master all the combos, and train hard, You could try the “Master II difficulty” in the arcade mode…If You dare!
-Plot:
Shinnok is back! Wait…Who’s Shinnok? He’s An ex Elder God, one of the six Gods that rule the six Realms of Mortal Kombat Universe.
And What’s Mortal Kombat? A Tournament where are decided the destinies of all the six Realms: Outworld, Edenia, Chaosrealm, Netherrealm, Seido, and finally, our Earthrealm. Shinnok tried to overwhelm the other Gods Powers to become the Universe ruler, but he failed like the Titans versus Zeus, and Raiden confined him in the Netherrealm (a terrible realm of sorrow and darkness).
But after thousands of years He finds a way out thanks to Quan Chi, the mysterious evil sorcerer, and now They’re trying to conquer of the Universe. Now It’s up to You: will You Help Raiden, the Thunder God, and obliterate this new menace? Or Will You join the evil forces and conquer the Universe?
-Aesthetics:
3D Polygons for the first time: a good attempt (and a good level for its times). And a deeper music and sound experience.
-Graphics:
We can still recognize our heroes, even though They’re not in 2D. Yes, Sub Zero, Noob Saibot and Scorpion are practically twins, but
it doesn’t matter so much. Every character is very detailed, from head to toe, and we have now the opportunity to use a weapon (well detailed and different too!). What about the explosions, the blood gore all around the game and the perfect rendering of the fatalities? Good work, dear Midway! They paid attention to every single particle effect of the special moves (fireballs, body explosions, special harpoons…). The stages are well designed, and aren’t static at all: there are flames, moving faces and possessed trees, ambient effects,
rain…And You can use a severed head, a stone or other stuff to hit your opponent. The first step next to the complex 3D backgrounds of the next episodes. You will feel the power of the warrior in your own…eyes and fingers!
-Sound:
Engaging! Firstly, we must mention the announcer voice that will follow You for the entire game: You are in the tournament, don’t
forget it. But in this game, the announcer voice screams, laughs, judges your moves…This is the great difference between the other fighting games like Tekken or Street Fighters. The announcer is really alive and pushes You to perform like a devil warrior. The sounds of your moves are quite different (but not REALLY different…Still a good result). The music are deeply refined, because, as Dan Forden (the great music composer of the saga) said (in “Deadly Alliance” for Playstation 2, if I remember), it is the soul of the stage: so a stage full
of corpses, debris and sorrow, the background music must be dismembered with an axe in every single note and reassembled like a Frankenstein monster, a rainy stage on a tower top must make You feel the rain on your skin, the thunder trembling, the wind whip…And It works (apart from lags, of course).
-Gameplay:
We don’t have all the special features from the other versions of the game (and the 5 extra characters from the Dreamcast...), but, obviously, We can still enjoy this masterpiece because of all its modalities. We can play:
-Arcade mode: the story mode. Start the game with your character and find his destiny!
-Team mode: Select your and opponent’s team of fighters and fight! (handicap mode is permitted)
-Endurance mode: Resist, resist and resist to hordes of stages until You die. Epic win!
-Tournament mode: Select Your character and fight to win the tournament. You can also skip CPU battles.
-Practice mode: Here a newbie can kick some bad boy in the teeth. And train his warrior too…
We have FIVE different modalities:
-Novice
-Beginner
-Warrior
-Master
- Master II
..And six selectable difficulties from the Options Menu (Very easy-Easy-Medium-Hard-Very Hard-Ultimate). You really have a wide choice! That’s why I rate difficulty 7, but it depends if You like to try a medium difficulty, a very easy or an ultimate difficulty level. Obviously, results may vary… You can use a different weapon for every single fighter, and of course, there are special moves, combos and FATALITIES (You
need just to surf a bit on Google and You’ll find everything You need, from the weapons to the fatalities). Fatalities are (YOU DON’T KNOW?! OH MY…) the finishing moves that You can perform at the end of the second round of every battle: when the announcer shouts:”FINISH HIM!” and your opponent is stumbling, You have to hit the right sequence of buttons and You’ll get Your fatality, a
terrible finishing move that literally destroys the opponent.
What about a little summary of the playable characters? Let’s go!
THE GOOD FELLAS (AND THEIR SERVANTS)
-Raiden- The Thunder God, and Your Leader (If You’re a good boy).
-Fujin-Raiden's ally, the Wind God. Wooooosh!
-Liu Kang- The Shaolin monk with the formidable bicycle kicks. Alias “The grand champion that will destroy the evil Shinnok”.
-Kai- Liu Kang’s Nepali friend and disciple. A member of the secret organization “White Lotus”.
-Jax– The U.S. special forces officer with the ultra-bionic arms. He seeks Jarek to arrest him, and Sonya…To have a flirt, or at least try it. I would surely try!
-Sonya Blade– The special enforcer that is searching for Jarek...But not to have a flirt.
-Johnny Cage– Mr. “I’m a movie star and I only fight with sunglasses”… My Wing Tsun teacher (That actually is also my father) Wouldn't approve...
-Sub-Zero– At least the Junior brother of the original one. A Lin Kuei ninja, as his brother (killed by Scorpion for revenge). Summoned by Raiden.
THE BAD BOYS (AND THEIR MINIONS)
-Shinnok– The greedy and corrupted ex Elder God. He wants to be the ruler of the Universe and as I can see, after the encounter with Quan Chi, He likes to use eye shadow to make even brighter his (completely) green eyes…I leave to You the conclusions…
-Quan Chi– The evil and infamous sorcerer, the number two bad boy, and the real master-mind behind the death of Scorpion’s family. Scorpion will eventually discover this secret and…Play as Scorpion to see what happens next.
-Reiko- Shinnok's general. He likes mascara too, but he prefers Quan Chi’s make-up style. Sinful perverted!
-Goro- The sub-boss of the game. But don’t tell him that he’s a “SUB” boss. He’s in the franchise from the first episode and never get a “BOSS” promotion. That’s why he’s always angry…
-Tanya– The Traitor that helps Shinnok in Edenia’s Realm conquest. But I better remember her because of the beautiful fatality called “Death Kiss”…Awww, let me die in your arms and legs, and… A-ehm, adult content, go away!
-Noob Saibot- A hidden character. The undead ninja that in future will reveal his true identity: He’s the first Sub-Zero, the elder brother of the one in this game.
-Reptile– Shinnok’s minion. He fights for him, trying to save his realm, Zaterra.
-Jarek- The last member of the Black Dragon Secret Association, and Kano’s disciple. Not involved with Shinnok's return, he fights for himself and he dislikes jail...
THE LONE NINJA
-Scorpion– Yeah, he must be mentioned ALONE, because he’s the ace of this game, the greatest trademark of the series, and above all, because he’s my favourite fighter. No, for real, he deserves a separate dissertation because of his uniqueness. The revived ninja seeking for Sub-Zero, his nemesis, You already know why (If not, read Quan Chi’s review). He uses a chained harpoon to catch the enemy’s chest,
and shouts “GET OVER HERE!” while he rapidly trails the opponent next to his deadly uppercut.
Which one of these warriors best suits You?
A small talk about the FATALITIES. [I repeat, You’ll see a precious tip for the automatic fatality in the “Cheat and code” section (up above this review)]. This is the real signature of the game. Mortal Kombat without fatalities? I just can’t imagine this… Brutality XD Yes, ripping flesh, exploding bodies, violent bloodbaths, pulverized backbones, flaming corpses… That’s why They rated it MATURE… The deep soul of this game is an evil one. Perhaps one of Shang Tsung’s lost souls…
-Conclusions: If You love fighting games, or even though You’re just now approaching this genre, the entire Mortal Kombat history is what You’re searching for…...Round One: Fight! Sock! Bang! Ow! Pow! Dash! Kick! Kick! Kick! Ouch! Punch!.........…Finish Him!!!............. ......................AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!!................Scorpion wins…......….Fatality!    XD

Mortal Kombat 4 Review   madmanmike01
Graphics I rate a 9 because it was the first time Mortal Kombat went 3D and it took full advantage. Bad part about the 3d is that it makes it too easy to dodge projectiles.
Sound I gave an 8. Most of the Characters have their own unique voices in Kombat. They are all unique in the end movies.
Addictiveness I give a 10. I can play this game all day and night. I may be bias because I'm a big MK fan but with the cast of characters and the different difficulty settings as well as the order of opponents you can change.
Depth I give a six because it does not take long at all to beat but the back story is very good. To fully understand what happened in the beginning you have to play Mortal Kombat Mythologies.
Difficulty I have to give a 7 because you can make it simple or extremely hard. With the difficulty in the options menu as well as choose your destiny there really is no SET difficulty.
Overall I give it a 9.5

Mortal Kombat 4: Review   AngelKingUltra
This game is so great. I love how fast paced it is compared to the Mortal Kombat games today. There are quite a few modes you can play in this one. There is Arcade which is your standard arcade battle with different character endings. Then you have Team which is you can pick and choose 2 characters to fight with other 2 characters. You also have Endurance which is basically like your traditional survival mode. Tournament is where you fight other characters to the top. Then your traditional Practice mode. There are even a lot of secrets to unlock in this game that were not in the arcade like new characters to unlock. I think Mortal Kombat 4 was way better than the previous titles. Many people disagree but hey it's my opinion. I love the new 3D they were trying for the first time back then and I think they succeeded.
Overall this is a really fun game and any Mortal Kombat fan should try it!

Mortal Kombat 4 Review   Maki4Ever
Mortal Kombat 4 Review
To start off, let's talk about the basic plot of the game:
Shinnok, a fallen Elder God, wants to take over Earthrealm for himself by siding with the Netherrealm sorcerer Quan Chi (BTW, the plan does not go well in the end for either of them)
Now the Kombatants are set to stop Shinnok from destroying the world.
Here's the full list:
Kai, a Shaolin Monk and a comrade of Kung Lao and Liu Kang
Raiden, the Thunder God and mentor to our heroes
Shinnok, the Fallen Elder God and final boss of the game
Liu Kang, the one and only champion of Mortal Kombat
Reptile, a Zaterran (don't know what that means, maybe a lizardman) who serves Shinnok
Scorpion, the spectre who has no allegiance (has rivalries with Sub-Zero and Quan Chi)
Jax, the Special Forces agent
Reiko, Shinnok's right hand man
Johnny Cage, the actor BACK FROM THE DEAD!!!!
Jarek, the last survivor of the Black Dragon
Tanya, the traitor of Edenia
Fujin, the God of wind and new protector of Earthrealm
Sub-Zero, the cyromancer
Quan Chi, the sorcerer
Sonya, the Special Forces leader on the hunt for Jarek
All of them will fight for the future of the Realms. or so we thought when playing this game
Now, let's get to the game itself
Being the first Mortal Kombat game in 3-D, the graphics are made to represent that. The fighters now look realistic and can have their arms snapped, their necks broken, or their legs broken. The backgrounds are still 2-D though.
In terms of fighting mechanics, it's still the same, with weapons added to each fighter, although it can be removed from a fighter when hit by his or her opponent. The special moves are there, the two fatalities per character, now in 3-D, and some of the fatalities are pretty good
The arcade ladder is the same one from the UMK3, except there are no endurance rounds; it's straight to the sub-boss Goro before battling Shinnok and getting the character's ending, which is now in a cinematic cutscene, but unlike the Playstation version, the characters do not move along with the voiceover
MK4 now contains a practice mode, which you can use to practice the moves of your favorite character. It's also interactive, which means you can make the computer active or not, change the background, and so on.
Now for the breakdown of the scores:
Graphics: 8/10
Sound: 9/10
Gameplay: 10/10
Addictiveness: 10/10
Depth: 7/10
Story: 8/10
Difficulty: 7/10
Overall Score: 8.4/10
Final Thoughts: Mortal Kombat 4 is a very good fighting game for the N64, but it just needs a few adjustments to become an all-time classic amoung the series.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
