Battle Routine Set for the fifth time! chaoscontrolx
Hello members of viz! This is Chaoscontrolx here with my first review! Today we're taking a look at the fifth installment of the Mega Man Battle Network Series! So sit down and enjoy because I have quite a bit to cover! This game has quite a bit of depth to it. More than the previous installments. Not as much a oh say 6 mind you, but it offers a decent amount of things. Now first, let's begin with the plot.Mega man Battle Network 5 Plot: A very basic plot that is easy to summarize just for people who are curios. Think of it as Pokemon yet in an alternate universe. So basically, the Internet or "Net" has been taken over by a mysterious group called "Nebula". We've had our fair share of evil groups in the past but they don't just stop at WWW or Gospel, no. We have yet another group who wants to take over the Net. During this event, very early in the game Dr. Regal, the leader of the group kidnaps Yuichiro Hikari, Lan's father. However the one thing that could have ensured his victory, Lan's Personal Terminal or "Pet", has been failed to be obtained. Yet, Lan's friends, Mayl, Dex, and Yai's PETs have all been acquired. The Officials of SciLab have devised a strategy. This strategy involves gathering a team of highly skilled Navi's and Operators to liberate the captured areas of the Net. Which kicks the Liberation mission into play. Now Lan, having countless victories during the past 4 games, has been invited by Chaud or Baryl (depending on if you play Team ProtoMan or Team Colonel) to join the team. Knowing Lan, he accepts the request for it will put him one step further to rescuing his dad and retrieving his friend's PETs. Looks like we're on a fifth adventure...Now with the story out of the way... Let's begin with the Game Play. Game Play: How exactly is Mega Man Battle Network 5 in terms of Game Play you may ask? Well from my perspective it's definitely worthy of trying out for yourself. Like all Battle Network games, you play as both Protagonists Lan Hikari and MegaMan.exe You control Lan in the real world and MegaMan in the cyberworld. You jack in and out of the Net by pressing R. You can usually jack into Computers, monitors, other electronics, and get this, a squirrel in a park. Now for the real moment you've been waiting for. Virus Busting and Net Battles.Unlike previous franchise like, oh let's say Classic or X, Battle Network follows a different mechanic which involves busting viruses or defeating Navi's with your buster, or Battle Chips. Busting viruses would be considered the easy part for long-time players. Whenever the Custom Gauge fills up, you can go to the Battle Chip selection screen by pressing R or L. Which gives you 5 Battle Chips to pick from. Depending on your chips and codes, you can choose a number of battle chips. Which you can use by simply pressing the A button. These can range from small cannons to hardcore Navi chips. Depending on how you make your strategy, any chip can be useful!Graphics: Next to Battle Network 6, 5 probably has the best graphics in the series. And for the Game Boy Advance standards, they were awesome for that time period. Everything in this game seems to be caught by the naked eye, and really reflects the graphical side of this game in a good way. Especially in a battle sequence. Being able to see you take out your sword and slashing it across someone's face just feels fulfilling. It's what this series has always done for me graphic wise. Graphics from humans to Navi's. Everything has been enhanced in this game! No matter how you look at it, can you possibly tell me you prefer the graphics from 4 and down for reason's other than nostalgia? It's very hard to do while keeping a straight face. Take 1 look at Battle network. Now look at 5 and you'll see what I mean.Sound: I have to say, the sounds composed for this game are very nice and good to the ears! Now mind you, i would never pick this game's OST over something like Sonic Advance, or Mario RPG 2, but I can't bash this game on it's soundtrack. The only thing that really bugs me is how repetitive the overworld theme can get. For example, take the theme you get when your in a crisis and have to hurry. It occurs a lot throughout the game and it does eventually get annoying. It may be just me though.Addictiveness: OK guys, this game, no, this series as a whole is very addictive. But for Battle Network 5 as a piece well... That's where things start to get tricky. I'm sure many of you share the pain on me with this one. So let's just get this out of the way. The new concept added to this game, the liberation missions are where things start to slow down me. That and the conveyance this game seems to always pull on me.Come on guys. You all know for a fact the Liberation missions can be such a game stopper. And maybe even a direct turnoff for some. As rage inducing as they are, I can't help but use a guide to escape the pain most people get either from screwing up or from making a mistake. It's the slow down of the game. It's what everyone turns to bash on when criticizing this game, and while i'm not a fan of it myself, I don't hate this concept completely. I can appreciate what they were trying to do with this. I understood where they were trying to go with the liberation missions. But having that said, I am glad that they didn't pull stuff like this on us n Battle Network 6. Apart from that, the game is addictive to almost no end.Depth: In terms of depth, battle Network 5 has a bit of new things to offer. Besides the whole point of virus busting and net battling, Battle Network 5 has some new things to lay on the table. Well for one, the liberation missions which involve liberating panels while operating your team's Navi's, and defeating a certain boss before your order points run out. Nothing too simple or complicated. But difficult? You hit the nail on the head there.Another new thing to note about Network 5 is the Double Soul mechanic. After getting to a certain point in the game, you will learn about Double Soul. Which allows you to Unite souls with a Navi on the team by sacrificing a compatible chip. If I were to Unite with Magnet Man, an electric type Navi, I would need to sacrifice an electric chip. Giving me special electric abilities, and power boosts. There are limitations to it like only being available for 3 turns however. To be honest, there ins't much brought to the table that hasn't already been implemented in previous installments. But with that, we move onto the difficult.Difficulty: Much unlike previous games, Battle Network 5 isn't really that difficult. Compared to 1, 2, and 3, 5 is kind of a downer. Apart from the liberation missions 5 is pretty easy. So much more difficult and tension were put into the previous installment's, but that doesn't bring down the overall score by a lot. CapCom could have done better with the level of difficulty especially considering this is a Mega Man game, but I'll let it slide.Overall score: 8.5Battle Network 5 was indeed a awesome game to play, and i recommend this game to anyone who wants to play a Good Game Boy Advance game. It wasn't nearly as good as Battle Network 2 or 3, and things like the liberation missions can't be stressed on enough on how it brought the game down. I still love Battle Network 5 though. Despite the things that brought it down, I think some of you can look past that and see the greatness of it all. So if you want to see how this game fairs with you? Go ahead by all means! Nothings stopping yo now! This has been Chaoscontrolx and my first review! I hope you all enjoyed my review of MegaMan Battle network 5! Chaos out.

Megaman you have done it again! Deadend136
Summary:
So this game has many great perks mostly because of the way
the game play, the large depth, and how addictive it can become all while being
able to deliver hours of fun with great challenges and road blocks. If you are
a fan of the Megaman Battle Network television show, the games, or just a big
fan of being challenged then this is a game you should try out. Though I am not
the biggest fan of the game series or the actual game play I have to say that
for a game boy advanced game this title really hit the top of my charts in
almost all the different areas I will be reviewing. Before I start I do suggest
if you attempt to play this game to use a strategy guide. You will become
confused with many of the puzzles, you will be challenged at more than one
point within this title, and when you finally beat it you will definitely feel
that you have accomplished a hard task. So let’s begin!
?
Graphics and Sound- Rate 8
Alright so I gave the graphics and sound an 8 for a couple
of key reasons:
1) The soundtrack really does match the game play and makes
it a much more enjoyable experience throughout this game. Sometimes as a gamer
you are faced with boring background music but the sound tracks for this game
keeps you going and may even in some cases “pump you up”.
2) The graphics being only a game boy advanced game is
absolutely marvelous and top of the line for the console as well as the type of
game which it is. If anything you will notice that the graphics for this title
are all very unique and interesting regardless if you play for only an hour or
beat the game.
3) Both the maps, allies, enemies, and even the puzzles all
have great graphics and are also very unique due to the fact that you have to
be on a “digital” as well as a “real world” map throughout the game. They
really were able to be spot on with the graphics.
4) Now I usually do not enjoy the sprites during the battles
in previous games but they really stepped it up for this title. Not only are
you able to use different “forms” of your allies for Megaman but the way they
set up the battles and graphics for each move you use is both unique and
outstanding! Even if it is the same elemental attack the graphics vary so I
definitely suggest those who play this experiment and check out all the great
battle graphics.
?
Addictiveness- Rate 5
Only a 5 you ask? I am afraid so the addictiveness deserves
to be neutral for this title. This is the type of game where there is so much
to do, will take quite a long time to beat with or without a strategy guide,
and due to the fact that it is such a long game replay almost doesn’t seem like
an option. Truth be told you may get bored and have to come back to it a couple
of times. It is in my opinion harder and more frustrating than any Zelda title
you can think of without a strategy guide. Also with the constant battling as
if you are playing a Pok?mon title but throughout the whole game you have to constantly
walk in the grass area no matter where you are whether you are on a route or in
a building. (Yes it can be that bad throughout the game). Now once you start
playing and you are facing bosses the game can become very addicting due to the
fact that those points in the game are what I would consider the more “Fun” and
“Enjoyable” and once you beat the bosses you can actually go back and do it as
many times as you want. So as you can hopefully all tell this title is very
neutral with its addictiveness.
?
Story and Depth- Rate 10
So the story is pretty much how you are recruited by another
individual to eliminate viruses in the world. You end up traveling to different
places and meeting different characters and making new allies. So not really
the most interesting story for a game but the depth of the game REALLY makes up
for the overused story.
Do you like exploring numerous areas? Do you enjoy countless
puzzles? Do you like having the ability to use many different playing styles?
Well you my friend will absolutely love this game. Throughout the game you are
able to explore a large
selection of different areas and maps while also being
able to constantly change your playing style without spending hours training
your team up, reconfiguring, etc. So because of this wide range of playable
areas and the fact that for this title you really have to spend hours playing
through it and getting every item; if you want to complete this game 100% the
depth deserves a 10.
?
Difficulty- Rate 10
I do not know what is worse while playing this game between
wanting to finish the game and the lack of patience a gamer could have for this
title or the actual difficultly you face in this game and dealing with a lot of
repetitiveness. Now I did say in this guide that even with a strategy guide
this game will take a gamer quite a few hours to complete and many hours to max
everything out and finish the game 100%. I was not kidding by any means. This
game’s puzzles can be as difficult as Zelda game titles, the amount of
repetitiveness with battling enemies can become almost unbearable, and also the
best and more enjoyable parts within the game only last for about an hour
before you need to spend another 2-3 hours depending on puzzle solving skills before
you can battle the next boss. So the actual game difficulty is hard as well as
what the gamer may feel when playing through this title.
?
So I hope you all enjoyed my review and thank you all for
any and all feedback given back to me.
(I am looking for a really awesome wallpaper for a Let’s
Play series I will be working on soon and willing to pay a couple thousand vizz
if it is really well done)

Megaman Battle Network 5 Team Protoman! chris2447
This game is really fun and addicting like all of the other megaman battle network games. Its story is rich, long, and interesting with all sorts of plot twists. The gameplay of Megaman Battle Network 5 Team Protoman is much like the other games, battling with a seemingly endless array of new battlechips on 3x9 long floors, trying to whittle down each other's health to zero. Classic fun! The best new part are the brand new liberation missions. They're a little difficult and the perfect turn time limit is impossible (Beat in 9 turns??? How is that possible?!), but they are unique because you can control other characters like Protoman and Gyroman (My favorite's Napalman) and you have to liberate spaces. Overall, great game!

This game was pretty good in my opinion, it was entertaining enough for me to literally lose
sleep playing it. It has its moments like the final boss which was pretty hard if you didn't know what you were doing. The game basically requires you have good hand eye coordination to defeat other characters. I found it pretty cool that you can play as proto man and other netnavis on the team. I also found it fun to abuse dark chips and then use them again without losing health by using these sick techniques. But overall the game has pretty good moments and is way better than the fourth one.
