Mega Man 2 - The Game That Propelled The Series   geeogree
In 1988 Nintendo released the sequel to the original Mega Man game and boy did it improve the series. 1.5 million in sales made it the best-selling game of the NES series. The game itself doesn’t deviate much at all from the original game but improves upon that game. Dr. Wily is back at his shenanigans and has a bunch more robots ready to do battle with Mega Man. Everything that Mega Man did Mega Man 2 took and made better. More levels, more weapons, more bosses and more help from Dr. Light.
Graphics – 8/10
The graphics for Mega Man are pretty good for the NES. They are definitely an improvement over the original game. The look of the series is solidified with this game and remains consistent throughout the NES portions of the series. This goes to show how perfectly they got the graphics for this game. Each level design is unique and interesting which keeps each level fresh.
I still think there could have been more to the graphics. Most of the backgrounds in each level are either bland or monotonous. There is more they could have done there. That’s the main reason I didn’t give the game a 10/10 on graphics.
Sound – 8/10
I spent a few minutes listening to the original Mega Man game music and compared it to Mega Man 2’s music and wow is it a drastic difference in quality. The music is cleaner throughout and far better done. The improvements from 1 to 2 are another big reason why Mega Man 2 solidified the series and kept it alive.
Just like the individualized visual style for each level this game also had unique music styles for each level. This definitely kept the game more interesting because you didn’t have to play 10 levels with the exact same song playing during the main portions of the levels. I also like the additional intensity that the boss fights got. The music on most levels was generally exciting enough but the boss fight itself got a change in music that made you feel the difference in that part of the level versus the rest.
Addictiveness 9/10
I personally played this game a TON of times. There are several reasons for that. The first one is that this game is simply really well made. The levels themselves while generally predictable have enough difficult portions that one play through rarely gives you the skill to beat the level perfectly every time. It would take dozens of times through each level before you could reliably beat each one.
The second reason I played the game as much as I did was because of a gameplay component. Each boss was vulnerable to the special ability you gained from previous bosses. If you didn’t have the right power up from the boss then beating a boss could be extremely difficult. Learning the right order to fight the bosses in took a long time. Once you had the order figured out it made the game easier to play because the boss fights weren’t as difficult.
Story – 5/10
The story for every Mega Man game is basically the same. Dr. Wily has created robots that he is using to cause havoc and mayhem around the world. Mega Man takes on the responsibility of taking those robots on. There isn’t much else to it. This is the story that every Mega Man game has. It’s not a bad story but it is pretty bland. There is no depth to the story. I love the game but the story is the bare minimum needed in order to be called a story.
Depth – 5/10
The depth of this game is pretty limited. You have to beat each of the 8 main bosses, collect their power-ups (and the 3 extra power-ups that Dr. Light gives you) and then use those power-ups to attack and defeat Dr. Wily. There are no extra levels (that I know of anyway) so there isn’t anything extra you can do. Each level is very linear so there aren’t shortcuts or other secrets like that. I believe later games introduce hidden items and secrets into the game but Mega Man 2 does not have those.
Difficulty – 9/10
This game gets such a high rating because in the first dozen or so plays through the game it is really difficult. Many jumps that are made must be done in a very precise way or death is immediate. Every death results in starting a level over at the very beginning. As you progress through the game and start to learn level design and enemy placement the game does become easier but the first time through (or first dozen attempts to get to the end of the game) can be quite difficult.
Overall – 9/10
I think this is by far one of the best NES games out there. It really improved on the side-scrolling genre of games and kept a franchise alive that had started out very badly. If it weren’t for this game most of us wouldn’t know Mega Man at all but a few might remember some guy named Rock Man. This game is great and I highly recommend it if you’ve never played Mega Man games before. I personally would skip the first one if you’re wanting to get into this series and haven’t played any games before.

The Man is Mega in this classic!   PixelBrick
Welcome to my review for... Mega Man 2. The Blue Bomber strikes back in this sequel to Mega Man. The first release of Mega Man was a struggling game by Capcom. *Clears throat* I wonder why. *Looks at box art of Mega Man 1* Plus the level design was NOT as creative as what I am reviewing...Mega Man 2. This game for the Nintendo Entertainment System was a bestseller. This was the first Mega Man game that was actually good. This game has new suits, levels, enemies, and a better North American box art. I hope you enjoy my review for the Blue Bomber's hit game, (A.K.A. Mega Man) Mega Man II.
Overall: 8.5/10
Okay, this game is just amazing with its music, levels, enemies, controls, difficulty...it's just all amazing. I rounded all my ratings to get an 8.5 for an overall rating. Now in this review, you will find out what molds its game into perfection. Like I said, this was Capcom's first, actual GOOD GAME. I'm sure the only reason limited collectors bought Mega Man I is because of its rarity as of now. Let me put this in a very good example. At first, computers in society were horrible. They were less powerful than modern calculators. Now, computers are good. Basically, Mega Man wasn't very special, but Mega Man II was a great game with its depth. But anyways, you will find that Mega Man II is a great game behind a unique, yet strange, box. He he he he.
Graphics: 9/10
I know, I know. Why am I rating 8-bit graphics a nine? Well the sprites for Mega Man, AND the enemies are pretty good. Of course in the early Mega Man games, Mega Man looks like he's wearing blue panties, Mega Man also has a facial expression that says, "HELLO, WORLD, AND ALL WHO INHABIT IT! i'm bored..." But Mega's power suit is very nifty. Also, I should mention that the sprites for the enemies are better than the sprites for the bosses. Complete opposite in the game Contra. But the enemies...the sprites aren't as good as Mega Man X, but they are crazy good for the date. The graphics are pure, but this is not the only thing that makes this game wonderful. The graphics are like watching a movie based off a video game (if the movie was 8-bit). As I've said, these graphics are just unforgettable.
Sound: 9/10
This is the best part about the game! Every song in the soundtrack is amazing. From the title screen, to the introduction to each level (Intro to each level is the best part of the Mega Man series, but this version has the best level intro theme by far. Very futuristic). Each level has its unique theme. From Bubble Man to Wood Man. All of the levels has the best themes. Bubble Man reminds me of Sonic Colors (Or the original Sonic the Hedgehog, actually). The boss battle theme is home to the very catchy tune. The theme is just too addicting to let go of. Now let's stop blabbering on how good the game soundtrack is. (Even though it's just that awesome). When Mega Man uses his hand to shoot a bullet, it sounds like a very generic Star Wars gun being shot with 8-bit sound. When Mega Man loses energy, you know what happens, don't you? He explodes. And that makes a generic 8-bit explosion. That is the only way I can describe those sound effects, unfortunately. When you shoot an enemy, it just sounds like that same sound effect from the Home Run Bat from Super Smash Bros, except high pitched. It's funny, they sound dreadfully similar. (This sound effect is also in Dragon Ball Z) This is really all the sound effects in the game, but they're all very interesting. Especially the soundtrack. This game has one of the best soundtracks in video game history. You gotta hear the tunes to believe me, know what I'm saying?
Replay-ability: 8/10
Let me put this out here. This game can get dreadfully addicting. Now if only there was a two player side-scrolling mode just like the Contra series. But, none of the less, this is a very addicting game. The fact that you can't save your progress, limited levels, not a complicated story, the SOUNDTRACK, and the weird, yet creative, level designs. Well I guess all video game levels are weird in one way. And the levels in this game aren't as weird as Mega Man I, let's say that. The story, difficulty, level design, graphics, and sound make this game a potion of power, wisdom, and courage. Picture this: Nintendo is in the middle of their hexing ritual. They use a good story, difficulty, soundtrack, graphics, and game-play to make a gift from God. *Cough* Capcom* *Cough* But man, is this an addicting game. I'm surprised there is no side-scrolling co-op mode to make this game super, ultra addicting. The level design is perfect for that. (Please, somebody hack the ROM to make this possible) But I think I've proved my point that this game is amazingly addicting in lots of great ways...
Story: 7/10
Huh. This is a very original story. Not 10/10 worthy, but very original story. But anyways, way into the future, Dr. Wily is creating a robotic army to put havoc among the world. Unfortunately, we have the Blue Bomber to save the world. The man in blue must go through painful levels of a lifetime to take down Wily's minions, robots, and save the world. Will Mega Man pull off this feat? So, the story is very generic, it's actually pretty good. (HEY MEGA MAN, YOU GOT +7 more games to go) This story well fits the game. I mean, it's the future, you're blowing up robots for crying out loud, I mean seriously. Story is perfect for the genre, there isn't really anything wrong with the story. Now all we need is an annoying princess that could have used her powers to save herself a LONG time ago.....Mario Brothers, you're supposed to react.
Depth: 7/10
I am impressed with all the depth offered in this game. I think I may make this review +2,000 words. He he. But anyways, there are 9 levels in the entire game. Bubble Man, Air Man, Quick Man, Heat Man, Dr. Wily, Wood Man, Flash Man, Metal Man, and Crash Man. There are two difficulties. Normal and Difficult. I do not recommend Difficult, because this game is hard enough on Normal. Now, here are the basic controls. A to jump, B to fire, R to do a tiny jump, and L to do a double fire. (Use L on any boss fights, trust me) In this game, there are passwords that can be used. They can cause levels to be already defeated, cause you to instantly have upgraded armor, change in music, there's also a ton of Game Genie codes. Game Genie codes are pretty fun to use. For an example, there's a code in Super Mario Bros that makes every enemy fire hammers! Now, lots of enemies have gimmicks. For an example, there's an enemy that is VERY powerful, but when he isn't firing, he does NOT use his shield. That is when he is vulnerable. This enemy can destroy you. Now, this is back when you couldn't stick to walls in Mega Man games. This adds a challenge into the game. The levels are either side-scrolling horizontal levels, or vertical levels like Heat Man. Horizontal levels are very easy. Vertical levels are nightmares in 8-bit formation! There's a lot of weird enemies like the frog from Bubble Man that spews out frogs that jump all over the place, or that bunny from Wood Man that shoots carrots at you and it even hops around like it needs to urinate. You're in a forest, just pee in a bush! The final battle is VERY hard. Unless you're playing the Mega Man II High Jump hack. You'll need an upgrade to defeat Dr. Wily in this game... bosses in the Mega Man series are always quick and nimble. You don't know what to expect from them, honestly. Are they gonna run towards you? Will they throw a projectile at you? This is what you'll ask yourself if you make it alive to the end of the level. But as you can see, this game offers a lot of depth for the average Nintendo Entertainment System arcade classic. Most of them are limited levels like the game Popeye.
Difficulty: 7/10
Now, this game is HARD. But in Difficult mode, enemies are stronger. This game has some serious platforming within. And when you're backing up from an enemy, and you kill it from your draw distance, it RE-SPAWNS. The draw distance hit box is very strange. This adds challenge to levels like Wood Man, Bubble Man, and Heat Man. The bosses hit very hard, their attacks are dreadfully difficult to dodge, there's enemies placed in the worst places, the hit box on them is messed up, they re-spawn easily like I said, and the platforming can be pretty difficult like in Bubble Man. As you can see/hear, this game is very difficult. Not Hard Corps hard or Ghosts N' Goblins hard, but hard. If you want an easier Mega Man game, try Mega Man X. Less raging on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System! None of the less, this game is hard, but it's still fun. For an example, Street Fighter II The World Warrior...hard. Addicting? Yes. There is countless difficult games that are fun. *Cough* Contra III *Cough* *Cough*
I hope you enjoyed my review for MEGA MAN II.

The Blue Bomber Returns   supersayianbroly
The Blue Bomber is back, once again saving the world from the evil Dr.Wiley.
Mega Man 2 was the hoped for squeal in the series, and it lived up to the hype in my eyes, it had it all new villain's, new stages, new music which was not as irritating, some new little robot baddies, and even more new power ups to help get around with.
This time there was a brief story explanation added to the beginning, as well as a killer music byte to start it off that already shows great improvement.
After escaping from Mega Man the last time Dr. Wiley returns but this time he creates some robots of his own, eight of them to be correct.
Of course he also has his bigger robots to guard his castle in the final stages of the game.
Like the last game you defeat his robots and take their powers and use them to defeat the others, catching a repeating factor here? Well you better that's all the games in the original series baby.
Along with the powers you take from the boss robots, you get 3 other powers simply name Item 1, Item 2, and Item 3, you will know you have gotten them when after it tells you what power you got from the boss robots your screen will flash red saying Item 1 or whatever is ready.
Now you go through the stages in the same side scrolling fashion as the others, still a great game.
Now fans of the first game will be happy to know that the robot bosses from the first game appear in this one also as sub bosses, and yes you still fight all eight of Wiley's robots twice once to get their powers then again in Wiley's castle.
The only thing I did not like about the reappearance of the robot bosses from the first game is you do not get to take their powers this time. It sucks I know.
I myself wish you could.
Now while some of the powers you get from the bosses may seem worthless do not count any of them out, they are all very valuable.
The last boss battle shocked many people because of what happens I will not tell the ending if you have never played it before play it and you will see what I am talking about.
The cover still dictates the space age pistol packing character who looks nothing like the Blue Bomber but oh well right?
This game is one of the greats and it shows why Mega Man is so dear to many hardcore gamers hearts as well as all the games in the series.
Another collector's item must have to any gamers collection

Mega Man 2 Review   TheGilsterMan
Mega Man 2. One of the best video games created for the NES, and probably THE best of the original Mega Man series. But before I can start this review, lets take a little history lesson of how the Blue Bomber was going so far.The first Mega Man (or Rockman for Japan) was released for the NES/Famicom in December 1987 under development of the well-known creator, Keiji Inafune. It was a classic for most people, but, unfortunately, it didn't sell like hotcakes in North America (GEE, I WONDER WHY!!!) So, they gave Inafune and his crew another chance, and so, Rockman 2: Dr. Wily no Nazo was released for the Famicom in 1988, and the renamed Mega Man 2 was brought to the NES a year later. Alright, now that I have that out of the way, onto the review.Let's start with the first thing you notice: the back story. It's nothing too special: Dr. Wily was defeated by Mega Man a first time, escaped, built 8 Robot Masters and plans to take over the world, blah blah blah, heard it a million times already, WHO CARES?!! Let's just play the game!!Then the title screen pops up, with that ever-so-memorable theme song. Don't you just love that music? One thing that's really nice is the ability to switch between Normal and Hard difficulties. The only other NES game I know that does that is the Japanese version of the original Castlevania. Anyway, once you pick a difficulty, it's time to start the game.So you start of by selecting one of 8 Robot Master stages. These enemies are: Metal Man, Bubble Man, Air Man, Heat Man, Wood Man, Crash Man (a fan favourite!), Flash Man, and Quick Man. You don't have to beat these guys in order, you can do it in any order you wish. After selection, you are then transported into the Robot Masters level. Here, you must run around and shoot any robots who dare to stand in your path, picking up anything they leave behind (either health or ammo or, sometimes, 1-ups) The levels are big, so be prepared for a huge button-masher. Nevertheless, you'll eventually get to the Robot Master, and you'll be able to blast him to bits, and steal whatever weapon he has for your own will ( A classic tradition in the Mega Man franchise) Once you're done with that, just do it 7 more times, and you'll get to the last part of the game: Dr. Wily's castle. Here, run through six more stages, crush the maniac's plans into smithereens, and watch him drop at his knees, beggin' for mercy!!The graphics in Mega Man 2 are awesome, with detailed backgrounds, and really goofy-looking enemies (I heard that some enemies in this game were designed by children!) The music is very memorable, with a lot of remixes. Just listen to a certain someone who wrote lyrics for the title theme (You know who he is!)If you thought the first game was difficult, then you haven't seen anything yet, because this one REALLY gives you a challenge. Heck, I think the Quick Man stage is probably the hardest part! (see for yourself) But you get unlimited continues, so it's not all that that bad.My overall score on Mega Man 2 is 89/100. If you love Mega Man, or are just a huge fan of the NES, then play this fistful of awesome. You'll love it!

Mega Man 2 Review   pikamander64
Today, I'll be reviewing a NES classic, Mega Man 2! Mega Man 2 is the sequel to Mega Man
and improves on the previous title. It's generally regarded as the greatest Mega Man
title in the Classic series and for good reason. It follows the non-linear gameplay
of it's predeccesor as well as getting weapons from the Robot Masters that are the weakness
of another Robot Master. So, let's get started.
   Story - 6.0
The story is pretty weak. Dr. Wily, the antagonist from the last game, has created
8 new robot masters to take over the world. Mega Man, the protaganist, has to take down
those Robot Masters, head to Dr.Wily's fortress, and stop him. Like most NES games,
it doesn't really have a huge storyline so I'll cut it some slack and leave it with a
6.0.
Graphics - 8.5
The graphics are pretty good for NES games. Mega Man looks quite nice and the Robot Master's
sprites reflect all of their designs and so do the enemies. The stages look nice and
you can always tell what things are, so, the graphics are pretty good and warrant a
8.5.
Sound - 10
The Mega Man series is known for it's amazing and catchy music that plays throughout
the stages and this game has that. Every song in the game is memorable and if you were
to ask me to hum anything from this game, I would be able to. The sound effects are pretty nice.
Mega Man's gun shots have a memorable sound and it's pretty good.
Addictiveness - 8.5
The game is easy to pick up and can be sometimes hard to put down. Considering the good level design,
it should keep you stuck with game since it's nearly perfect. All of the different tricks
and glitches can also help keep you in. It's a fun game that is extremely hard to put down.
My Problems

One of my problems with the game is the weapons. A lot of the weapons are overshadowed by
the overpowered Metal Blade. The Metal Blade takes down 4 Robot Masters down, is helpful to take
down most enemies, and is just generally broken. All the other weapons have their uses but
are just pointless due to the overpowered Metal Blade. It's just a little bothersome.
I also hate the constant flicker that happens when too many things are on screen. For example,
in Metal Man's stage, the spiked drop things, cause flickering and it makes the game slow
and Mega Man goes invisible and it bothers me.
Controls - 9.5

The game has the same tight controls of the previous game and controlling Mega Man
is simple and easy to handle. The jumping mechanics work and you move quite easily.
I love the controls since they work well and they deserve a 9.5.
Difficulty - 7.5
This game is pretty hard due to how the levels are designed and how bosses are. However,
I gave it a lower score due to it being, in my opinion, a step-down from the Hell that is
Mega Man 1.Sure you got Quick Man and his stage with the insta-kill lasers, but they can both be
easy to get through by just using the Time Stopper on the lasers and then grind near Quick Man's
boss door to take down half his health. The first one had the Yellow Devil, Elec Man's stage
and himself, Ice Man's disappearing blocks over nothing area, the Big One-eyed Red thing
that appears in nearly every stage, etc;. They really just downed the difficulty and I dislike that.
Conclusion
Mega Man 2 is a solid and excellent game with tight controls, an excellent soundtrack,
great graphics, and an orignal non-linear style. I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys
classic games and is enjoyable. However, I don't regard this to be the best Mega Man title
even though it's great. I'll be getting to the best next time, but this game deserves a
9.5.

Mega Man 2   Flagpole
Mega Man 2 is a great game made by Capcom, and falls into my list of favorite games.
The story is quite simple: Dr. Wily, after being defeated once by Mega Man, tries to dominate the world again, this time creating not six, but eight powerful Robot Masters. And so, Mega man must beat each of the eight Robot Masters, then take down Dr. Wily.
The gameplay is a quite simple, yet extremely fun one: you play as mega Man, a blue robot who can jump and shoot. And so, you must travel eight levels, in each one residing a Robot Master. Each level is constructed taking in account the Robot Master's design, element and weapon. For example, metal Man's stage is a place full of metal enemies, with its background being the inside functioning of a machine. The eight levels you can beat in any order, making the task overwhelming at first, but, as you start beating more stages, the game becomes smaller and smaller.
Each stage is unique in its own way: Bubble Man's stage is full of water and has death spikes at every corner, Air Man's stage has a lot of bottomless pits and flying platforms, Quick Man's stage is full of instant death lasers, which you must pass by very quickly, Heat man's stage has a vry large portion of it occupied by disappearing blocks, Wood Man's stage is filled with enemies everywhere, whit lots of forest animals, Metal Man's stage has conveyor belts everywhere, Flash man's stage is the ice level of the game, and in Crash Man's stage you ascend and ascend, the background turning from day to night.
The graphics are quite nice. They were amazing when they were released and, in my honest opinion, are still amazing in this present moment. The graphics aren't outstanding, and are very 8-bit-ish.
The music is excellent. It almost receives a perfect score. The tunes for each level is very catchy and very well made. Of course, you'll have your favorites: my favorite tune is Flash Man's tune and, in my opinion, the most catchy ones are Metal Man's and Crash Man's tunes.
The game itself is not very difficult. The Normal Mode is pretty much very easy, especially compared to the Difgicult Mode, which actually is the standard mode for the Japanese version of Mega Man 2. I'm only going to talk about the Difficulty Mode, though, as I just find Normal Mode very easy to speak about it. The enemies are pretty healthy, and some are tough to beat and deal a huge damage, like the Sniper Joes. Levels are very well crafted, although not well balanced, as some levels, like Bubble Man's, are very easy, while other levels, like Heat Man's, are very hard. Althouh beating th game is just a matter of skill, though.
The game has a lot of replay value. After you beat it, you'll want to play it again and again. I myself have beaten it, at least, four times.
Overall, the game is a pretty cool one. You should definitely play it.

Blue Bomber does it again   Azul Fria
OVERVIEW

The Blue Bomber returns in an all-new adventure called Mega Man 2 aka Rockman 2: Wily no Nazo in Japan. This time around you fight against eight robots instead of six robots from the first Mega Man and these are robots created by Dr. Wily himself instead of Dr. Light's robots being reprogrammed.

The game's eight bosses are (in order of creation): Metal Man – the metal gear on his head makes him look like a doctor and he heaves metal blades every times he jumps in response to you shooting at him, Air Man – a robot with a fan for a belly that blows you away as he sends waves of tornados at you, Bubble Man – a robot in scuba gear that sends bouncing bubbles at you and his room has spikes above that kill you if you jump too high, Quick Man – as his name implies he is quick and throws boomerangs around, Crash Man – one of the toughest robots to face in the series as he'll jump and shoot delayed explosives every time you shoot at him, Flash Man
– he's relatively easy but he will occasionally freeze time so he can shoot at you, Heat Man
– looks like a giant zippo lighter that sends three flame pillars and then do a flaming charge when hit, and Wood Man – Looks like a walking three stump and he protects with him with a leaf shield that he'll throw at you and leave himself open for damage momentarily.
Graphics - A+
The graphics are so much better in this game than the previous game. In fact, some of the stages are well animated in the background such as Flash Man's stage where the glass will light up on and off. Metal Man's stage has treadmills that will move the player in a specific direction but you can also see the clock gears moving in the background. Heat Man's stage is so full of red that it gives the stage that hot feeling as his name suggest and the lava also flows on the bottom and looks like actual lava as opposed to what Fire Man's lava looked like. Bubble Man's stage contains a waterfall that flows and in the water parts, water physics actually exist unlike the water in Ice Man's stage in the original game. Crash Man's stage will change from day to night during the course of the level.  Air Man's stage has clouds that can conceal enemies like the Pipis (birds) so you may not see them drop their eggs until it's too late and the Copipis will hatch from it and home in on you.

Nothing much has changed from the previous game. The game gets rid of the use of the Select button to hard pause the game along with the trick used to negate post hit invincibility. However, there is a new trick added to where you can pause the game rapidly to reset your downward descent speed to zero and this allows you to jump over long pits especially the one in Metal Man's stage after you get the E-Tank without having to use any of the three special items to cross it normally. You still don't have the slide yet but you do get to introduce yourself to the charge shot in this game. The only thing about is that you don't use your normal buster to fire one. You use the Atomic Fire (obtained from Heat Man) to do the duty. Hold down the fire button and you will charge the weapon up to three levels then release the button to fire the shot. The Level 3 Atomic Fire is so powerful that it kills most enemies in one or two shots including bosses.

Gameplay - A+

The American and possibly the European version offers two difficulty modes: Normal and Difficult. The Japanese version is only one mode and it is based off the difficult mode and the behaviors of the enemies change as does the damage they take to defeat. Each robot is weak to another's weapon. The rock-paper-scissors concept is a bit complex in this game as some of the bosses are weak to more than one weapon.  In addition to the 8 weapons, you can get three special items to use for traveling purposes. Item-1 (obtained from Heat Man) lets you create up to three propellor platforms on the screen at a time to reach higher places out of reach. Item-2 (obtained from Air Man) lets you fly across extremely long pits and spikes. Item-3 (obtained from Flash Man) is a wall crawler that lets you ride up the side of the wall and is a bigger convenience than Item-1 in some spots.

Here is a small guide to the weaknesses of the bosses in order to their creation:

Metal Man (weak to Quick Boomerang, Metal Blade during rematch)
Air Man (weak to Leaf Shield)
Bubble Man (weak to Metal Blade, Bubble Lead restores his health)
Quick Man (weak to Time Stopper, Crash Bomber, Air Shooter, Atomic Fire)
Crash Man (weak to Air Shooter)
Flash Man (weak to Crash Bomber, Atomic Fire, Bubble Lead, Metal Blade)
Heat Man (weak to Bubble Lead, Atomic Fire and Crash Bomber restore his health)
Wood Man (weak to Atomic Fire, Metal Blade, Air Shooter, Crash Bomber when shield is active)

Once you do away with all eight robots, you go straight to Dr. Wily's Castle and you fight through five stages. Your special items are a must in this set of levels. You face off against the Mecha Dragon in the first stage and physical contact with it will result in instant death. In the second level, you will need to use Item-2 to get across the spike pit but grab the right ladder to get an extra life and lots of weapon energy. In the third stage, there is a section where you must guide yourself through a series of spikes that will shift at times and the boss here is a giant tank called Guts Dozer that is based off of Guts Man  from the first Mega Man which I assume is Dr. Wily's favorite robot. We will be seeing him and other enemies similar to him in future games as we did the Rock Monster. The fourth Wily Stage has hidden gaps that you can fall through if you are unaware of where they are. It is best to pull out your bubble lead and watch where it falls so you will know where to avoid that hidden gap especially the one that is over the bed of spikes. The boss of this level is five Beam Traps that requires Crash Bombers to defeat. You got seven of those at your disposal and there are several walls to get rid of. What is worse is that if you run out of Crash Bombers, then you are screwed with a capital F. With proper placement, you can blow up two walls in the lower right and blow up one of the guns along with another wall. With that you should have one bomb left and that will come in handy in the next stage. The next stage consists of another famous niche in a Mega Man game (boss refights). They had that in the original Mega Man but that was more of a gauntlet. Here on the other hand, you can choose who you want to fight and you'll get an energy refill after defeating the boss. Once all eight bosses fall again, you face Dr. Wily. You will have to hop over his shots. It is best to conserve your Atomic Fire in Difficult Mode/Japan Version against Wood Man rematch and use Air Shooters instead. In Normal Mode, it's a 1 shot kill against him but a 2 -shot kill in Difficult/Japan Mode. Against Dr. Wily's first form it is the same. His second form is tougher, but if you managed to save that one Crash Bomber from the previous stage then you can shoot him in the correct spot to defeat him instantly as the explosion will gradually damage him to zero. It ain't over yet, you got one more stage with acid drips raining down. The final boss fight requires the use of the Bubble Lead and any other weapon will refill him to full health and that is a downer.

Difficulty - 2 (normal), 4 (difficult/Japan)

After playing the normal mode for a while, it will be very easier to play through this game at least one time without dying once but since there are two modes I gave two different scores for difficulty as normal is very easy to play but difficult mode (which is default for Japan) is a killer especially towards the end of the game as the bosses take less damage compared to normal mode and it can come back to bite you in some spots that seemed like clockwork.

Other dangers that you should be aware of as during the course of the game aside from the afformentioned info above are stuff like the laser beams in Quick Man's stage that spell instant death if one touches you. It is possible to get through Quick Man's stage first but it is best that you use the Time Stopper to keep the laser beams from coming out till the Time Stopper wears off. The Springers you will mostly see in Metal Man and Heat Man's stage can't be hit with normal fire. Bubble Lead gets the job done on them instead. Another enemy to be wary of is the Sniper Joe riding in armor. They do severe damage but with the right weapon which is the Air Shooter, it goes down in an instant and leaves Sniper Joe to function as normal. Two enemies affected the most by difficulty levels are the shelled crab enemies and the enemy that shifts its body. In the difficult mode, they will shoot a part of themselves at you. Crabs will throw it shell but will do the same if you shot it with a Metal Blade regardless of difficulty and the shifter will shoot its body segments then reform.

Sound/Music - A+

The soundtrack is much better and the songs are more catchier. My favorite songs out of this lineup are the ones by Crash Man, Flash Man, Bubble Man and the 1st Wily stage. Heat Man's stage has the redundancy factor but it's not as Guts Man's music so I won't take off points for it.

Replay Value - A+

Once again, experimentation is a key factor in replayability as this game offers more options than before such as the bosses having more than one weakness and the fact that there are two difficulties for the player to try their hand at. There are even some tricks that the user can exploit for the full feel of the game. Aside from the pausing jump trick but there is a way to constantly save weapon energy for some weapons. You will discover that Metal Blades (4), Bubble Leads (2), and Quick Boomerangs (8) have more than one use before a single bar is used up. You can use up to 1 less than the mentioned amount then pause the game and the usage amount will reset so let's say you for Metal Blades, 4 uses is worth one bar but if you use three and pause then you can unpause and use up to three more without using a single bar. This trick can come in handy if you go up against the final boss and you are down to your last Bubble Lead. Shoot once and pause then shoot again and pause, etc. You will still hold on to that one bar of Bubble Lead and players who want to be fancy can use that exploit on purpose for a tough guy fight.

Overall - A+

No ifs, ands, or buts that this game deserves an A+ all around. This one of the best Mega Man games created in all-time and this was where the Mega Man hype all started. Inafune even said this was his favorite. Mega Man 2 never gets old and is a wonderful gem to have.

MegaMan 2 Review   Cjjjj
This is by far the best of the megaman game. On NES and on SNES. I give the graphics a 9 because in there day they where fun and nice to look at. The sound track to this game is fantastic (my personal favorite being crashmans stage song) but some of the noises can be annoying (dr.wilys ship). I give the addictiveness a ten because I play this game all the time no matter how mad it makes me I always go back and try again and I just love it. The story is great but not that great. But most people don't play Nes for the story anyway so I still give it a 7. The game has really good depth. It makes you feel like the fate of the world really is in you hands much like in the legend of Zelda (maby I'll review that sometime). Lets talk about the difficulty. The first time I played this game I thought it was hard as h*ll. But I've played it so much I know how to get past almost everything. But For your first few time's the difficulty is about a 9 or 10. But for me its a clean 6. Overall I give a 9.7 because the game is great. It has its flaws but I accept that, that's just part of a game. Thank you all for reading my first review

Megaman 2   ditao1
This game isn't the best in the series, however, it was the one that made the Megaman series get on the horse and go. However my main complaints are.
1. It gets stale on you 4th runthrough (for me, this doesn't mean for you)
2. Its too easy!!!!!
3. The only reason it got a 6 in difficulty instead of a 3 was just because of quickman and the turrets of cheapness!!!!!!!!!!!
I gave it a high depth because of how there aren't any things that was mandatory but not clear... (megaman 1) like the magnet beam. Overall, Mega Man 2 is great edition in the series. The graphics were great, the sound especially in Wily 1 & 2 were amazing and the controls were tight!

I'm out of ideas for a title   bluecat2012
Ahhhh good old mega man 2. Great game but it gets too much praise in my opinion. What about the first game what about the third game? WE NEVER HEAR ABOUT ANY OTHER MEGA MAN GAME OTHER THEN MEGA MAN 2! Well I guess I will sit down and review the game already. To be honest this is my least favorite mega man game. I just don't get why it gets so much praise. Well I guess i'll show you the game.
First lets talk about the story if the game. DR wily(the original bad dude from the first game) needed a way to get rid of mega man so he can take over the world so he made 8 more robot masters to take him out. Wait WHAT!? HE MADE MORE?! Cmon! You think hed try something different if what he did last time failed! WHY DO IT AGAIN!? Anyway he made 8 more robot masters. bubble man (ohhhh how menacing) air man(really? Cmon Dr wily.) flash man (pfff... MAKE SOMETHING SCARY DARN IT!) metal man (FINALLY) crash man (What does he do? Crash party's?) Wood man(OH NOS A SPLINTER!) and....quick  man (darn it all! Howd they know i'm fat!?) Oh and almost forgot! HEAT MAN! No not fire man. HEAT MAN. Ugh NO! Let me repeat! Not heat man... HEAT MAN with capital letters! Wow! How did you not get that!? (sorry I don't have a joke for HEAT MAN.)  These pathetic robot masters will try their best (which is hardly anything) To stop you.
How bout the graphics? Their pretty good! I like them (At least there are no gutsman textures. Man DR wily must of broke up with him.) But sometimes they can be bland. A prime example is at the crash man stage! The background is very bland. Another place where the background sucks is at the bubble man stage! It makes wanna puke! It hurts the eyes! But at other stages like the woodman stage it has very nice backgrounds.
Now unlike the other mega man games this one is easy as eating pie. (And if you have never eaten pie before let me tell you how you do it: You take some of it on a spoon and stick in your mouth and then swallow. Repeat.) This one is still pretty hard but I can speed run it any day.
Now the gameplay... well its like any other mega man game. You pick a robot master stage to play you play it fight the robot master get their weapon and you play the next stage. But if thats to complicated heres a rundown of what you do: Lots of guns and fun! boom boom you shoot a gun at things and kill them! Yes like all mega man games the gameplay= very simple.
Well thank you for reading my review. Its not my best but I promise ill do a better one next time. Because next time where gonna look at... (spoiler) MEGA MAN 3! My favorite game in the franchise! See you then!

Megan Man 2, an outstanding sequel.   lugiaboy
Mega Man II is a sequel that I adore with it replay-ability and action that most people enjoy . How well is this game? Let us find out.
Graphics: 10: A well made 8 bit game that has some great graphics as well. The graphics are very impressive and are a improvement into the Mega Man series.
Sound: 10: A well made soundtrack to go with this game is very acceptable. It reminds me of a beat boxish motion as you play the game. It has well composed music that I have enjoyed it for years.
Addictiveness: 10: I loved to play this for the NES because of the action involved in this. It is very fun game to play enjoy.
Story: 8: The story is the basic story we all know from the original itself. Dr. Wiley who is the genius behind this madness has created 8 new robot masters just like Mega Man and Dr. Light has sent Mega Man off to foil his evil plans. You the player must stop him before it's to late.
Depth: 6: There isn't much to offer but using the robot master's powers. The most effective is the Metal Blade power up you get from Metal Man and does the most damage to enemies. But other than that, the game is still fun.
Difficulty: 8: Back when I was a kid, this game was hard! Lucky though, I always beat Metal Man first because the game was challenging. What the most difficult part is the Dr. Willy stage. I still haven't tried to beat the game though. The game really was challenging.
Overall Rating: 9.9: I just love this game and every single thing about it. Ever since Mega Man 9 came out, I've been thinking about playing game yet again to try and possibly beat it. I love this game to death. I want you to play this game to and hopefully have a fun time with it.

My Review of the Second Mega Man Game   luigi25
Mega Man 2 was released for the NES near the end of 1988. It is one of the first games in this long running series of games Capcom released for the NES, Gameboy, and SNES systems. Mega Man 2 is a lot like the first one with Mega Man shooting enemies with his arm cannon. This game has two difficulty modes, and you have more items. I didn't feel like you had to follow a certain order with the stages either. There are some improvements that make this game better than the first one, but there still are a lot of problems that have kept me from enjoying the second Mega Man game very much either.
Graphics 7/10: I can't tell all that much of a difference from the graphics of the first game and the second game. Things look pretty dated in this one too. There may be a little more animation with the sprites in Mega Man 2, but it still looks kind of dull. The backgrounds look about the same as the first Mega Man on NES. Things haven't really improved much here. I'd just sum it up and say, that Mega Man 2 is an okay looking game, but I don't feel like it is all that wonderful and is still an early NES game.
Music 9/10: Most of the songs in Mega Man 2 sound amazing with the exception of the Heatman and Woodman stages. I wouldn't say that this game is perfect, but it is pretty close to it. The first one had a nice soundtrack, and this one does too. To me, they're both about the same with the second one being somewhat better. The previous Mega Man had several levels that weren't that great, and this one has a couple that aren't so good either. For the most part, Mega Man and Mega Man 2 sound amazing with the exception of two levels.
Gameplay 5/10: Mega Man 2 is just like the first game. It is an action/shooter/platforming type of game with Mega Man shooting at enemies with his arm cannon. Players get the stage select option at first and can play these stages in any order. It is probably better to play the levels in a certain order just like before. After Mega Man beats the stage's boss, he copies that boss' ability. Nothing has really changed with the second game here.
Mega Man still has an ammunition meter for every ability he has. He can collect ammo and health along the way as he shoots enemies. Running out of health with the arm cannon which has unlimited ammunition will result in Mega Man losing a life and having to restart from a checkpoint in the stage. After losing 2 or 3 lives, you get a Game Over and have to replay the entire stage again, but your health and ammo are replenished.
There is no time limit in this game either, and you still have to make your way through these stages without getting hit by enemies which is somewhat easier to do in Mega Man 2 than in the first game. Not to mention, you can choose to play on Normal or Hard difficulty. Of course, I'm going to play on Normal! Why would anyone want to play on Hard!? I've got to say, Normal difficulty isn't much easier than the previous Mega Man game.
The enemy placement can be pretty bad in this game too, but there doesn't seem to be as many glitches. I have been able to improve somewhat in the Quickman Stage, but I still hate trying to outrun those beams that always kill me and give me a Game Over! And, you still have to play this game in this order: Airman, Quickman, Metal Man, Bubbleman, Heatman, Crashman, Flashman, and Woodman. Some of these stages, you can probably switch up, but I don't know which ones. So, I end up playing the game in this order.
With some of the bosses, like Woodman and Quickman, I didn't need any particular abilities that made those fights any easier. I also noticed, the game automatically gave me three different platform generators in my ammo-pack. Two of these platforms moved up and down, and one made a platform for Mega Man to ride on until it ran out of health. So, that was an improvement over the Magnet Beam in the first game. I didn't find myself running out of energy for these platform generators like I did before.
Keep in mind, this was just in Normal Mode, I didn't care about doing any of this in Hard Mode! The controls are still pretty slippery, but there aren't as many spikes, enemies, or bottomless pits in Mega Man 2. The game does seem like it gives you more health and more chances to grab extra lives. Not to mention, you can find energy tanks in these stages you can add to your supply and save for later when you get low on health.
Mega Man 2 is still a hard game even in Normal Mode, but I didn't find it to be an impossible game. Dr. Wily's stage does get pretty hard, and that's as far as I've ever gotten. It gets frustrating on that part, and I find myself replaying these stages more than I want to. I get Game Overs a lot on the other areas too, but it doesn't get to be much of a problem until Dr. Wily's Lair. The Quickman Stage is hard, but I'd take it over the Gutsman Stage in Mega Man 1. The difficulty seems more fair in Mega Man 2, but it still feels like it is a bit much.
Story 5/10: The plot of Mega Man 2 continues the story from the first game. Dr. Wily builds more robots to fight against Mega Man and Dr. Light. He also builds another fortress, and Mega Man sets off on another mission to stop Dr. Wily. I didn't think this game had much of a plot! That's pretty much the same thing he did in the first game. That one was pretty original, but this one just keeps telling the same story. Capcom could have came up with something better than this, but Mega Man 2 didn't come out long after Mega Man 1. Maybe, they didn't have time to come up with anything better.
Content 7/10: Mega Man 2 consists of 8 main areas: Airman, Quickman, Metal Man, Bubbleman, Heatman, Crashman, Flashman, and Woodman. Then, you have 4 or 5 different lairs of Dr. Wily's Castle. It takes almost 45 minutes to successfully complete this game if you can avoid getting a Game Over which is almost impossible. This is another way in which the second game is better than the first. It offers a little more content, and I imagine most players who are familiar with the franchise would get more out of this Mega Man game.
Difficulty 10/10: Mega Man 2 is another hard game, but it is not impossible like its predecessor. I feel like this game is more fair because it gives you more refills and extra lives. I still thought that even after playing it as much as I have, I can never progress with it the way I can with a lot of other games. I've played a lot of games like these. They're not impossible, but they still don't get any easier. It's hard to get a whole lot of fun out of this game either. The enemy placement is better, and I don't remember glitching through any platforms or running out of ammo for the platform generators. I still think Mega Man 2 is harder than it should be, and that's just in Normal Mode!
Overall 6.6/10: I guess Mega Man 2 is somewhat better than the first one, but not much has changed with the graphics or soundtrack. The gameplay and difficulty is quite an improvement over the first! That one just trolled you or made you have to restart the game because you were always so reliant on that Magnet Beam! Capcom improved those things and made players less reliant on the Magnet Beam and got rid of a lot of the spikes and bottomless pits from before. It also has a little more content, but it is still a hard game. The plot also felt too rushed because the two games were made back to back. It is a better game, but I don't find myself getting that hooked on it.

Mega Man 2 Review   vaderzlk11
Ah, Mega Man 2. At the time, Capcom thought this would flop hard, and only allowed Keiji Inafune as a side project. However, when the sales took off and positive reviews all around, this is what put Mega Man on the memory of many gamers. This review looks at how Mega Man 2 cause a phenomenon around the world, and see if it lives up to its reputation as Keiji Inafune's magnum opus.
Graphics: Very good (at least for its time). It has colorful graphics that fit neatly with the stage, along with the bosses themselves (though the Alien looks a bit off).
Sound: VERY GOOD. I could listen to it all day in my iPhone or my mp3 player. I'm even willing to buy the soundtrack of the game.
Addictiveness: Good. While it's mostly about defeating all the Robot Masters and Dr. Wily himself, if you're willing to maintain a run without taking damage, then you should be quite addicted to this, because some of the stages and bosses are hard to defeat (especially Air Man, you can't beat him even with the time barrage glitch. Good luck!), or if you're insane enough, beating the game WITHOUT the special weapons (except the Bubble Lead, which is the only way to damage the alien).
Story: It's just about Mega Man fighting against Dr. Wily, along with his new Robot Masters after he once again caused chaos. Plain simple.
Depth: It's not much, but if you're willing to go through the entire game undamaged (Good luck trying to beat Air Man during your run!) and not wanting to use special weapons the entire run (Except the time where you're forced to use the Bubble Lead on the Alien, because it's the only one that can damage him), then it's going to take a while.
Difficulty: Quite a bit hard, I must say, but more harder when you're attempting to go through the entire game unscathed (especially on Air Man's stage) and without using special weapons.
Final Rating: 8.7 (Air Man). It's surprising held up very well today, though it still has its own problems. This is what inspired the Blue Bomber to rise to fame. If you ever find this on a store, I would recommend it as a collectible- A very good one. It's also available on the nintendo eShop and in the Mega Man Legacy Collection, so if you want to try it out, do it.

Mega Man II n' stuff   AmnesiaMaster28
Ah, Mega Man II. One of the best games for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Or, is it? I first got the idea of playing this game after trying the demo for the Masterpieces in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, but that starts you at the END. The Wily stuff. I wanted to see what the game was like, came to here, played it, and loved it. Just what makes this game so fun? Find out on the next episode of Dragon Ball Z! No no no, just kidding, you'll find out in this review.
So, if you don't press START as soon as the game starts, you get a cut-scene. After defeating Dr. Wily in the first game, (which if you beat I have not a clue how you did) but HE ESCAPED! He also built eight more evil robots. Yep. Eight. Anyway, you must defeat all eight and then enter Wily's castle and defeat Dr. Wily! I give the story a 3, because it's pretty much the same as Mega Man I, with two extra robots.
The graphics are pretty nice for an 8-bit console, not to mention when you get an ability. Sadly, it has that annoying Sprite Flicker. If you don't know what that is, whenever there is a bunch of stuff on screen, you and the enemies will start to flash. It's VERY annoying, as it can make you lose focus. Other than that, the graphics are awesome! I say an 8!
It's Mega Man! Of course the sound is down right legendary! The only track I've heard so far that I don't like is Crash Man's stage theme. I think it's OK. Other than that, the soundtrack and sound effects are great! I give it a 10! I should mention though, it might get annoying hearing you getting hit so much.
Which is a great segway into difficulty! This game tends mostly to be challenging, but other times (like in Quick Man's stage) it's just frustrating! But still mostly just challenging. I give difficulty a 7.
As I said in story, you have eight robots to beat, and then go beat up Dr. Wily one more time. Plus, this game is very addicting. When you beat a robot, you get their ability. (Metal Man's Metal-Blade, Flash Man's Time-Stopper) People also say that when Dr. Light gives you a weapon it's good but it takes forever! I never had that problem, I always beat up Flash Man first, and Dr. Light gives you something after you beat him, no matter what, I guess it's just the stages guys, you can calm down about it.
Anyway, at least for me Mega Man II truly showed what a great game is made of. I give a solid 9.3/10 and if you play it, I hope you have as much fun as I did with this game!

The pinnacle of classic Mega Man   endings
The blue bomber, Mega Man, was the very first game I ever rented. The box art looked a little wonky, a constipated looking guy on some floating discs, but the game was solid. And very difficult. For a novce player - Mega Man 1 for the NES is hard! If I had not seen a large spread about its sequel and how fun it looked, I may have never picked up the sequel.
Fortunately, our topic today, Mega Man 2, is not hair-pulling frustrating. The developers listened to complaints of the past game, and removed many frustrating or annoying aspects. This is a polished, super fun game, and I honestly find it to be my favorite MegaMan game ever. There is still room for improvement, so I won't give it a 10 - but the giant leap from 1's gameplay to 2 its like being able to see the game as it was meant to be.
I found out that the first game didn't make much money, but the developers wanted to try again, so they had to work on this game inbetween other assignments. Without pay. It was a labor of love. And man, feel the love in this game. This game is the high mark that I judge all other Mega Man versions. If you have not played this, you most definitely should.
Sound: 10
We are just going to get this out of the way. This soundtrack is legendary. So. Much. Win. I love almost every track on this game (sorry Heat Man!). If you doubt me, pull up youtube and listen to MetalMan's stage, Dr. Wily's Castle 1, or anything. Its just that good.
The sound of Mega Man taking damage sounds metallic, reminding you he is a robot like all the other things you fight. The mass explosions caused by Crash Man (and his weapon you get) is fun as well.
Graphics: 10
The first game had kind of washed out colors, a lot of pale greens, some browns - but this game is visual feast. Everything is bright, the backgrounds are gorgeous, and whoever thought to color the giant Air Tikis bright maroon was onto something. The little robot birds that drop an egg which hatches a dozen little baby robot birds - its quite cartoony - but it works. This is saturday morning cartoons mixed with a sugar rush.
Each enemy destroyed blows up in a fast explosion, showing you your hero's power and reminding you none of these things are real animals or humans. But clearly inspired by them, the robot apes, dogs and ostriches in Wood Man's stage show the imaginatino of the game - and isn't always fun to face off against a 20 ton dog that breathes fire at you? There's quite a few giant, impressive bosses.
Mega Man updates his look when assuming one of his abilities, so you know when its equipped. Bubble Man turns your outfit white and grey, Heat Man is orange and red. All of the power up abilities do this, a neat function.
Depth: 7
Expanding from the first game, we start with 8 bosses to choose from, instead of 6. As in any Mega Man game, the option of fighting them in any order is up to you, and their weapon is yours to use as you will. Some enemies (and bosses) are weaker to certain weapons. Crash Man's weapon has the added benefit of blasting special wall icons away, giving you access to potential shortcuts or health.  There are also special items given from your creator, Dr. Light, that can help you get extra lives and life replenishing Energy Tanks, or overcome any part you might be stuck on. The items (cleverly called 1, 2 and 3) climb walls, provide a hover platform to jump off, or become a horizontal moving fast airjet. Some items seem to have way more uses than others, but at least the option to use them is there.
Megaman may learn all sorts of new powers from bosses and Dr. Light, but his hardware hasn't been upgraded from the first game. He still jumps the same, moves the same, and has no new moves himself. The lack of updating vanilla Mega Man with some new built-in moves is disappointing.
Story: 3
The classic Mega Man games overall suffered from lack of story. This is essentially the same plot as the first game. Evil Dr. Wily has made a TON of robots that are rebelling. You are Mega Man, the creation of Santa-Claus beardy Dr. Light - its up to use to stop the 8 evil robot masters and bring down Wily, who always has a big headquarters that you must work your way through.
Actually, I would score this game's story lower than Mega Man 1 - who at least has reasons for their robots existing, as they had normal robot-type functions before rebelling. Gutsman was a construction worker. Elecman provided power for the city. Mega Man 2 makes no such premise. A guy that looks like a log! Does he plant treese? A guy that flashes! Wait, not that kind of flash. The story is as plain as Wily wants to get revenge on you - and for some reason, he isn't making a base full of lasers to do it with!
Addictiveness: 9
But who cares about the story. This game is pure joy to play. All stages have unique enemies, and offer different thrills. Air Man's stage is high in the clouds, forced to jump on platforms over the long drop down to earth. Bubble Man's stage is right next to a large dam, and you also play most of it underwater! Metal Man's stage is full of gears and drills, and has conveyor belts to slow you down or speed you up.
Once you defeat a boss, you have to try out their power to see how it affect you. Crash Bomb works much like you saw the boss use - but Heat Man's power is something the boss did not use. I wish there were stage elements that would require you use a power to open certain doors or something, but alas, many powers are only useful if you bother to try them in many places.
Difficulty: 4 (3 for veterans of the series)
This is not a hard game, and for people given the cold shoulder by MM1's hard campaign, this is perhaps too far in the opposite direction. You do get the choice of a hader game if you like though, but the energy tanks, item 1-3, and one boss' ultra useful ability makes most of the game trivial if you don't metagame and put restrictions on yourself. (OK- i will play the whole game using no energy tanks, or I will noly use the regular buster weapon). While this game introduces a password, i did not find this every necessary.
Overall: 9.6
Without this game's success, made by a team devoted to giving the fledgling series one more shot to prove itself - we would have been waiting years for a reboot, and who knows how many good sequels we would have missed out on, or if Mega Man would have even looked and played the same. The addition of 8 bosses, energy tanks, password, and Rush the dog - all started here and continued with the franchise.  The creativity of matching music to the themed areas, the bright, popping color - the game looked as good as it sound. I cannot imagine this game looking or sounding better than it does on the NES. It is freaking awesome.
However, despite the innovation and fun, I cannot give it a 10. Mega Man himself somehow escaped an update. We would have to wait for MM3 to see the slide move, and then realize how wonderful it was and should have been included from the start. The boss powers he acquires are ill balanced, some are always useful, some have little use and seem to force to find ways to include them in the game. The game is a 360 from the first game's difficulty, but I found it a bit too easy, even on the hard setting. I would rather play a too easy game over something too difficult - at least you get to see all it offers - but yeah, I often wished for a little more challenge.  Mega Man 2 is still my favorite Mega Man game, and I hope its somewhere on your favorite list too.

Blue n Cyan, He's MEGA MAN!!   djsonic2002
Du-du-du-DU, Super fightin' robot... Du-du-du-DU!! MEGA MAN!!.... Sorry for that... I was in the zone...
So, Mega Man. Oh boy, oh boy! Mega Man! Back then he was the robot that represented Capcom back in the Late '80s-early 2000s. Now-a-days he's.... Pretty much stuck in hiatus. But, you CAN'T think Capcom without thinking about Mega Man!.... Okay. Maybe Street Fighter. But STILL!! Oh jeez. I'm getting off topic. Okay then. *AHEM!*
A little history. In 1980's, Capcom was making games for the NES, seeing on how popular the console has become up to that point. Most of those games were okay ports of there arcade games like Ghosts & Goblins, Commando, 1942, etc. But in 1987, Akira Kitamura, (Please tell if I spelled that wrong) and Keiji Inafune developed a new intellectual property for Capcom. With some help, Capcom released Rockman on December 17, 1990. With the US following suit with Mega Man that same day. But Europeans got it THREE YEARS LATER in 1990! (Dang it PAL region. You and your tricks!!)
The game wasn't that well received... Hmm... I wonder why? I'M LOOKING AT YOU, NORTH AMERICAN BOX-ART! But a year later. They released the second game: Rockman 2: Dr. Wily no Nazo! (The Mystery of Dr. Wily!), and... I think you know the rest...
STORY: If you played the last game, Dr. Wily (The Antagonist) stole 6 Robots that Dr. Light (Professional robot maker) made in the year 20XX. Dr. Light created 2 other robots before that: Rock, and Roll (OH! I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE, CAPCOM!) Rock, feeling angered, I guess, Wanted to be converted to a Super Fighting Robot: MEGA MAN!! He kicked Dr. Wily's hintern (German for butt) and saved the day.
However!... Dr. Wily built 8 more robot masters to destroy the world!! Of course, Mega Man kicks his butt again. Cue Mega Man 3.
GAMEPLAY: Mega Man 2 allows you to select 8 levels in any order. Which allows for alot of different ways to beat the game. Once you reach the end of a level, you can fight the robot master. Once you beat him, you can get his power-up! Like stopping time, throwing buzz-saws with almost unlimited ammo, a barrier made of titanium leaves, and a lot more! Plus each robot has a weakness to another weapon. It's like Rock Paper Scissors! If you experiment enough, you'll find the best strategies to beat them. But if you seen other reviews of this game, people are prone to talk about the metal blade. METAL BLADE=YOU BEAT THE GAME! Why?? Well, you'll see!
GRAPHICS: The graphics are pretty good. Mega Man's blue palette sticks out, and is easy to follow, The enemies are very stylized, and detailed. But the only hiccup the game has is sprite flickering. It can get annoying at times.
MUSIC: Three words: Wily. Stage. and 1. 'Nuff said... NO I'M KIDDING! C'MON TAKE A JOKE!! But, the music is really catchy!! The entire soundtrack is in my Top 100! But Wily Stage 1! Ohh MAN!! This is the most remixed NES game on Youtube!
FINAL THOUGHTS: The game has aged very well! But it's not an easy game. This will challenge you, and test your reflexes. It not BattleToads, or Castlevania 3 hard. But it's no cakewalk. I'll give it a  9.5 (Excellent!)
This is DjSonic2002 Signing off!

Mega Man 2 review   tornadocam
Mega Man is back after his first triumph over Dr. Wily
Story: 8
Mega Man two has a story and a plot something the first game was lacking. From the intro and reading from the manual the story is like this. After Dr. Wily was defeated by Mega Man and after his plans for world domination failed. Dr. Wily created 8  new powerful robots to defeat and terminate Mega Man. Dr. Wily plans is to defeat Mega Man, prove that he is a genius like his rival Dr. Light, and take over the world. Mega Man must head out for battle to stop Dr. Wily and his robot army. Giving this game a story is what set the bar for future Mega Man games. The first game did not have a story. So Capcom fixed that in Mega Man two. I also thought the story was a nice touch and somewhat creative. The story is not creative in my opinion like future Mega Man games are. But, this was a nice start to the series. It is also nice that players know from the start what most of the plot is.

Graphics: 8
Mega Man two really improved on the graphics. The first game had horrible graphics and anybody that has played the first Mega Man game knows what I mean. For those that have not the first Mega Man game had very glitchy graphics, the objects in the background were hard to tell what they were at times. The controls of Mega Man one were also bad, Mega Man seemed to be sluggish or stiff and the game really lagged. Mega Man two fixes a lot of these problems. Objects in the background are easy to see what they are supposed to be. The games controls are nice no where in the game does it feel like Mega Man is sluggish or stiff. The only thing that holds the rating back is there are some spots that the game seems to lag a little bit. The graphics were just a bit under par from future Mega Man games. However, the graphics are much improved from the first game.

Sound: 9
Mega Man two shines on sound. The music is so much better than the first game. The first games music sounded tingly at times as well as scratchy. Capcom fixed that with music that flows real nice. Quick Man, Wood Man and the Wily stages have memorable tunes that sound like a stereo which is what they are supposed to sound like. Now the music is good but maybe not up to par with future Mega Man games but after hearing Mega Man one's music this was a huge step up.  The sound the enemies make when they shot at you sounds more like weapons instead of scratchiness like the first game had.

Addicteveness; 8
Unlike Mega Man one which a lot of players do not want to play again this one has replay value. The only thing are stages are not able to be revisited (more on that in depth). Still the game is fun and is often credited with the game that started Mega Man fanfare. The game in my opinion is not like 3,4,5  and 7's replay value. But do not get me wrong this is fun game that I find myself going back to play. Sometimes it is nice to go back and play the game that started Mega Man's fanfare and popularized the character.

Depth: 7
Mega Man two suffers somewhat in depth. The stages are not able to be revisited so the player has to get everything in one stage. That can create problems when getting power ups because some of the stages require certain weapons to get. The game is moderately long and will probably take a few hours to beat. The game is not like future Mega Man games that had side missions, quests, being able to revisit stages and an extra fortress stage. But considering they are some items to get and collect keeps the rating at a decent rating.

Difficulty: 9
Mega Man Two really shines on difficulty. What is difficult is since the stages cannot be played through again the player will need to know what special weapons they need in going to a stage. If a player does not have the special weapons than they can forget about getting the power up items like extra lives and energy tanks. Some of the stages make you want to pull your hair out. Quick Man's stage is one of them with the laser beams, all of the traps and just Quick man himself. Other bosses are not as hard as he is but getting to them can be tricky due to enemy placement. So this game is difficult to say the least.

Overall: 8.8
Mega Man two is often described as the game that started it all. Mega Man two is often credited to popularizing the franchise. I agree with that. This is a good game to start off with if anybody is wanting to know what Mega Man games are like. The graphics are so much improved and so is the sound from the first game. Capcom after the first game being mediocre needed a huge hit and a makeover of the franchise if it was going to succeed. Thankfully, they did. I had fun plaything this game for reasons above. I will be honest I kind of got spoiled to future Mega Man games having the ability to charge buster shots, slide and revisit stages. Still, as I stated above it is fun to go back and see how well things have improved. I highly recommend this game. As much as the difficulty level is I would say this is a good game for beginners to start with. Simply, because it gets new Mega Man players used to the controls and what to expect in future Mega Man games. So if you haven't played this game yet I highly recommend that you do it is wroth it.

Mega Man 2 (NES) Review   yaoyao9
After my huge bashing of the original Mega Man, it is time to look at is hyper popular sequel. The first "Mega Man" actually sold poorly here in the US, despite the critical acclaim from reviewers everywhere, so, Capcom, wanting to ditch Mega Man and start fresh, wanted the Inafune team to start anew with some other titles. However, the K-Man himself would not let go of Mega Man, so "Mega Man 2" was developed strictly on their free time. How does this game hold up?
Graphics: If any of you read my review of "Mega Man", you will know that I bashed it considerably for copy-and-pasting area designs to artificially extend play time. However, "Mega Man 2" threw that out the window. OH MY, this game looks absolutely beautiful. Gone are the choppy, single colored backgrounds, and in with the patterns, animations, and more. I love the game's graphics, from the spinning gears in Metal Man's stage (the ones in the BACKGROUND), the forest of Wood Man, I love ALL of the stages (except the Wily Fortress stages, which are rather dull like MM). The enemies this time around are also more detailed, and so are the robot masters, leaving a better impression overall to the gamer. This is especially surprising for a game developed on free time, compared to the original. Love the graphics here.
Sound: The sound design in "Mega Man 2" didn't actually vary that much from the original. The music is still composed of bloops and bleeps, but it is much better than before. The sheer number of "Wily Stage 1-2" remixes assures that. However, it is still below of what Contra or many other games, including "Super Mario Brothers 2" offered, so eh.
Addictiveness: This is where the game falls short. Although I enjoyed the Robot Master stages (especially Quick Man!), the Dr. Wily stages this time around where a complete chore and very boring to wade through. The constant requirement of Utility items really irk me, meaning that if you screw up, you must grind enemies for energy. Other aspects include the horrendously designed Boo-Beam trap boss, which requires the Crash Bomber and is still quite a pain, as well as the constant sprite flickering that causes me to constantly fall into bottomless pits or lose track of where I am from Boo-Beam Trap shots. The game itself, minus the Wily Stages, is quite addictive, but the fortress drags it down in general.
Story: "Mega Man 2", for some reason, has even LESS story than the original, but thankfully, the whole "Monsteropolis" is out of the question, and instead replaced with the traditional story. However, there is still no tale to be told in this game.
Depth: Unfortunately, MM2 also falls short in depth. Unlike the original, which had the super cool Magnet Beam item to find, Mega Man 2 offers nothing but Energy Tanks, and those pale in comparison with another weapon to use. This, coupled with the fact that Robot Master stages may no longer be revisited after completion, makes MM2 quite shallow of a game.
Difficulty: MM2 is MUCH easier than the original, as now the bosses follow stricter patterns! With the inclusion of E-Tanks and broken weapons like the Metal Blade, "Mega Man 2" is definitely where newbie players should start with in the franchise. Also be sure to select Easy mode!
Overall: Although highly overrated and not at all perfect, Mega Man 2 is one amazing game. It takes a lot of strides forward, enough to for me to forget the downgrades, and offers more friendliness towards new players than before. This is a must have game from any NES library.

Mega Man 2= amazing   Patrick Star
Okay so Mega Man 2 was the game I most remember of Mega Man from when I was like I do not know 4 because of the Mega Man anniversary collection. I loved this game a lot because of everything about it the sound, the Cartoony Graphics that just drew you into it and.... well the graphics were the thing that drew me back because I liked colors when I was 4:P but you know the point. The robot masters that are in every in every game are the best in this game and they make sense unlike robot masters future Mega Man games had like Spring Man. So this is my review for Mega Man 2.

 Graphics:
The graphics are the best because of how bright and colorful they are and just how much they draw you back in to the game. The robot masters are done as well as the scenery, amazing. The scenery in each stage gives you a unique feel and it changes throughout the stage sometimes. Mega Man's animations are done well but like most games of the time it was not that advanced so it does not show his arm go up when he shoots,it also does not go down when he stops shooting. This is the same for all of his movements I think because it is either that or I need glasses badly. This is a really minor bug and does get rid of how I view the graphics at all so I give the graphics a ten out of ten.

 Sound:
The sound is really good for the Nintendo Entertainment System and it has a different theme for each robot master's stage and they are all good.  The music was not perfect but it was good enough to listen to while playing this game and enjoying the music. The weapon sounds are not the best but it was not that advanced of a system. So the weapon's sound was just a kind of squeaking noise that I really cannot describe too well to you guys. I absolutely love the sound in this game so I give the sound a nine out of ten.

 Addictiveness:
I already have played this game again multiple times because of all the qualities it has in all varieties the game needs. I like to play the game again because it has such a basic but fun concept that I have to play it again and again and again. It is also fun to challenge myself to beat the robot masters in a set order so I do not feel overpowered against that certain boss. I would play this game again any day because of all this and more about it. So I give the addictiveness a ten out of ten.

Story:
The story is this games weakest asset because it is just simple and straight to the point but the story is after Mega Man 1 when Dr.Wily stole Dr.Lights robots to try to kill Mega Man and failed he decided to build his own robots especially to kill Mega Man and yes somehow he thought bubble man..... somehow. The story is not the best but not the worst for it's time so I give it a six out of ten.

 Depth:
Well this game does not take a lot of time of your day to beat but the time it does take is all worth it. There are 8 robot masters Bubble man,Heat man,Crash man,Quick man,Air man,Wood man,Flash man, and Wood man. These are the bosses that each have a stage in the game. You have to go through each stage and beat each boss and gain their power. Each boss has a power that you get after beating them and each boss has a weakness to another bosses power or the megabuster which is your start weapon. After beating enough robot masters Dr.Light gives you a technical weapon to help you. Like for instance a rocket you can use to get across areas easier. Each stage is fit for the robot master like Wood man has a forest and Bubble man's is underwater.
After what I just said there is really nothing else to do in the game except replay which I am sure you will be doing a lot. So I give the depth of Mega man 2 an eight out of ten because of it's lack of things to do.

 Difficulty:
This game is really hard to do unless you use save states because of how tough the stages are and because of the few lives you have to get through each stage. Also you have to beat a boss without it's weakness once because you do not have the power to go against it well. All though Metal Man is weak to the Megabuster. So I give the difficulty a 7 out of 10 for being hard but not because of the controls or anything like that.

So overall I really think you should play Mega Man 2. Trust me you will like this game from start to finish.

Maybe the best Mega Man game out there.   name543
Mega Man 2 is often considered one of the best Mega Man games out there. Though how does it really hold up when you play it again? It is an old game, and we all know that games that were great long ago might not have aged well. In good news, I think the game has aged very well. I enjoyed my entire playthrough was pretty enjoyable except for a few parts, and those small problems aren't enough to stop you from playing through it. So anyway, let's get on to the main bulk of this review.
Graphics
Mega Man 2's graphics are very good for a game on the NES. Each sprite is detailed enough for you to be able to easily tell what it is, and a lot of the enemy designs are actually pretty cool. Mega Man himself also looks very good for the time, having more colors then most NES sprites are normally able too. I've heard that this is because Mega Man is actually two sprites put together, and this is what gives him his multiple colors. I'm not sure if this is true, but I could believe it. The environments are also nice, having backgrounds to show you where each stage is set. The animations seem to be decent, each character moving well and not doing anything that'd ruin the feel of the game. The only problem with the graphics is the large amount of flashing they tend to do. Though, this can easily be ignored. Overall, the graphics get an eight. They're very good, but the flashing tends to be noticeable when it happens.
Sound: While the graphics had their small problems, the sound is a different matter. The sound in Mega Man 2 might actually be the closest thing to perfect we have on the NES. Each stage theme is very good and are well known among gamers as being fun and easy to listen to. Some of my favorites were Metal Man's and Bubble Man's themes. Though every track I listened to was very good in my opinion. Really, I had no problems with any of the stage music. Though, while all the music was good, I did have one complaint. This is the lack of a true final boss theme. The final battle uses the same music as all the other bosses. While this is a nice track, it still is weird to not get a real final battle theme for Doctor Wily. The other sounds in the game are also nice, but nothing amazing. The attack and weapon sounds are nice, with plenty of weapons having different noises when used. I give the sounds a nine, for having amazing music with a lack of unique boss themes. The normal sounds are also pretty nice.
Addictiveness: Mega Man 2 is a very addictive game. This is partially due to how simple the control is. You can shoot your weapon, jump, and use your weapons. That's mostly all the controls in the game. The skill is in how you use it. You can go through multiple paths in a stage, each one giving you different items and other collectibles. Though there's no wildly differing paths, the small sidetracking to get some items is always satisfying if it leads to something useful. The short levels also make this game more addictive, as each stage Robot Master stage shouldn't take you more then a few minutes. You can always pick up and play this game, leading to a fun time if you just want to replay a stage or two. My only problem is that a few levels tend to take away from how often you'd want to play the game. One of the Wily stages tends to be a chore to go through, and the boss of it is one of the most annoying bosses in the game if you don't know what weapon you need for it. This shouldn't stop you from playing though, as the problems only show up for a level or two. I give this game's addictiveness an eight. It's easy to play through and enjoy if you're doing anything from a small few levels, to the whole game. Some annoying levels late game bring it down a  bit, but it's no reason to completely decide against playing it.
Story: It's hard to actually talk  much about the story because of the fact there's very little of it. Really, the most story you get is that Dr. Wily has escaped from prison and it's up to you to stop him. Unfortunately, Wily is ready after his last defeat and has created eight of his own robots to battle Mega Man. The robots all have their own abilities and weaknesses, plus personalities if you go by the expanded material in the manga and comics. Though, after you finally beat them all you attack Wily's fortress, where the Japanese title comes into play. The game's title in Japan has the subtitle, The Secret of Dr. Wily. Trust me, it's quite a strange secret to learn.. Though, it at least gives a very interesting final battle, even if the end reveals the truth about the whole ordeal. Overall, I give the story a six. It starts out very simple and remains that way most of the game, but it eventually does end up giving you one plot twist. Though it's not very long lasted, it was pretty surprising the first time.
Depth: I admit, Mega Man 2 is not full of things to do like many other games. There are the main stages, and collecting upgrades, but other then that there's not anything. Not to say this is hugely a problem. The game is a very good linear experience, but there's not much off the normal path unless you want E-tanks or items to restore health and weapon energy. It also doesn't help that the game is very short, and should only take an experienced player an hour and a half to beat. It might even take less if you're good at it. Though, the game is not completely without depth, as there is one thing that you have to learn yourself. This is the Robot Masters' weaknesses. Each boss in the game has a different weakness, and part of the game's time is spent trying to learn what robot's are weak to what weapon. The game's depth gets a five from me. While there's not much to do other then play the game, learning the weaknesses of your enemies will keep you busy a bit longer then you normally would.
Difficulty: Depending on your choices in this game, you'll either find it very difficult, or pretty easy. One of the largest reasons for this is the addition of one of the most powerful weapons in any Mega Man game, the Metal Blades. They are gotten from Metal Man once you beat him, and the ease at which Metal Man is beaten tends to mean he's the first Robot Master to go after. This leaves you with a very powerful weapon that you'll be using through most of the game. It won't help you with platforming challenges, and I still died plenty of times even when using the Metal Blades, but it tends to lower the difficulty significantly, making the normal enemies and some minibosses a cakewalk to go through. This is completely different if you choose not to use the Metal Blades though, as the enemies you easily sliced through before become genuine challenges, able to swarm and kill you. The only thing that's the same between the two difficulties is that the platforming will be difficult either way most likely. Also, the game does have two difficulty modes, with one being much harder then the other. This means there is a more difficult challenge for you to go through if you find the normal game too easy. The final thing to mention about the difficulty is Quick Man's stage, which proves that the weapon doesn't mean everything. It's mostly a long amount of drops through lasers. This can be a bit cheap, as it comes down to trial and error on how to dodge them. A certain weapon gained in the game can make this easier, but it doesn't work for long, so expect to do a lot of the laser dodging without it and expect plenty of deaths here. The game's difficulty gets a six, as it can be either very hard or pretty easy. It all depends if you use the Metal Blades and the Robot Master's weaknesses to full effect. There will still be difficult platforming though, be assured of that.
Conclusion: I can definitely see why people say that Mega Man 2 is the best Mega Man game out there. The gameplay is very fun and the graphics are really good for the NES, with plenty of unique looking robots to go after. The soundtrack is pretty much legendary among gamers and has some of the best tracks you'd find on the system. There are problems though, such as the large amount of flashing of graphics because of stress on the system, and some levels that tend to get annoying rather then enjoyable. The story is also nothing special, except for the one plot twist near the end. This shouldn't be a reason not to play it though. Mega Man 2 is a very good game and one that should not be overlooked if you want a sidescrolling platformer/shooter. I give it a 9.2, and highly recommend it.

ZrockQuake's Mega Man 2 Review!   zrockquake
Graphics,8:? Not bad for the NES. Good use of a the limited color palette?
of the NES. But I cant say the some as far as the animation goes.
But since its the NES Ill let it pass.
Sound,10: Do I need to say it? Well for those who have only owned
an Atari for the past 25 years. Mega Man 2 has THE greatest NES
sound track hands down! From the mind numbingly awesome
Dr.Wily fortress 2 to from the pumping baseline of the main theme
this game made me care about music in video games.
Addictiveness,8: When I play this game I play it a lot. This mainly
comes from going back to a stage you've already beat with a
new weapon and seeing what you can do with it. Many times
you'll come across a thing you an E-tank or an extra life
you cant reach yet. Well, you get a new weapon or item
and come back. And the best part is that this can be
completely avoided! If you don't wanna go back, don't.
Its up to you.
Difficulty,6: People who wanted to like Mega Man 1 but were
driven away by a large difficulty will be happy to know that
it was dimmed down for the sequel. However, I'll say this
there is at least one thing I cant stand in each stage. From
the bottomless pits in Airman's stage, the spikes in Bubble's
stage, or so help me the death lasers in Quickman"s stage!!!
Overall, 8.9: WHAT ONLY 8.9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????????
Yeah I'll be the first to say that Mega Man 2 has issues mainly,
some cheap level design. Like I said before there is something
in each and every stage that I just cant stand. But, this is a very good
game. The standard for music in gaming at the time. I can recommend this to any fan of platformers.

Great   cplegogame25
Story:
The story is about Dr. Wily wanted to get revenge on Mega Man for beating him in the last game and made 8 new robot masters to try and stop him, so it's up to mega man to stop him and save his family, or Dr. Light.
- - -
Gameplay:
The gameplay is like the first, mega man jumps and he shoots but the controls are a lot smoother in this game than the first, Mega Man doesn't slide around as much like he did in the first game and he's no slow going up ladders. The mega Buster witch is Mega Man first weapon when you push the B button works well and responds well, jumping is the same but you don't slide everywhere when landing, you still drop like a rock though. Now the new 8 robot masters, first up is Bubble Man with a very trippy backround, the backround hurts my eyes a bit but not painfully bad, the first enemy you face is a frog that shoots mini frogs that hop on you. But the worst part about the stage is the underwater section when spikey balls are everywhere and there annoying to dodge carefully because jumping in the water makes you jump higher, so don't jump to high. Bubble Man just shoots bubbles at you, the ability you get after beating him is the bubble shooter witch shoots bubbles and travels along the ground. Air Man's stage has platforms that look like a Head with enemies and drills, plus clouds are in the way of some platforms make screw you over. Air Man shoots mini tornados at you witch are sorta annoying to dodge and they blow you back to, the ability you get when you beat him is a tornado witch shoots straight and then goes up. Quick Man's stage is the worst stage in my opinion, if you have Flash man's ability it shoulden't be to bad, but the worst part is during the middle of the stage where giant fast moving rectangle things kill you in one hit so if you mess up you're done, Quick man is annoying to hit because he moves to fast, get Flash Man's ability then take him down with the mega buster. The ability you get is a quick boomerang witch doesn't have good range but a fast attack. Heat Man's stage has enemies that fall from the sky and lava that kills you instantly, the worst part is the disapearing platforms witch you need great timing in order to not fail, but if you have item 2 it shoulden't be bad... what is this item #2? You get items 1-3 beating certain robot masters, item one is a platform the floats in the air for 5 seconds, item two is a hover board that flies straight until you run out of ammo for it, and item 3 is a platform that move up and down on walls for 7 seconds. Anyway heat man is annoying if you suck at dodging like me. But beating him gives you a charge fire beam witch i never use because it takes forever to charge. Wood Man's stage is pretty harmless, except for the cats that shoot fire at you. Wood Man shoots leaves at you and leaves fall from the ceiling and hurt you, leaves of death people. When you beat him you get a leaf shield witch protects you from enemies and projectiles until you move, i use it one a moving platform in the Wily stages. Metal Man's stage has conveyor belts that has differnet directions, Metal Man throws blades at you witch a pretty easy to dodge and you get the best ability when you beat him. You get the metal blade that shoots in 8 directions and has a ton of ammo. Flash Man's stage has platforms that make you slide but nothing to bad except these mechs that hop around and shoot you. Flash Man is the easist boss ever, hitting him with the metal blade 5 times takes him down, his ability freezes the stage for 10 seconds to get some annoying parts like Quick Man. Ugh there's more x wheeze x, Crash Man's stage is pretty forgettable, i don't even remember the stage that well, all i remember is a bunch of ladders and birds. Crash Man shoots bombs at you that go off quickly, but if you use Air Man's ability it shoulden't be to hard, the ability you get is the crash bomber which lashes to walls and exploads. I wont talk about the Wily stages since it's sorta spoilerish.
- - -
Graphics:
The graphics look great, everything is colorful and vibrant, except with the sprite flickering and the waterfall and lava graphics. The animation for characters look good, not great, they seem a little to choppy in some areas like Heat Man's stage.
- - -
Music/Sound:
The music is great, everything fits great in every stage, the title theme is great, Wily stage 1-2 is awesome, you just need to listen to it to know it's great. The sounds fit every attack and jump, the metal blades sound like blades being thrown, fire sounds like fire, and water sounds like water.
- - -
Final Verdict:
This game is great with great music, ok level design, good power ups, and a good story.

My Review On: Mega Man 2 (NES)   accpikachu2
Finally!  My review of Mega Man 2 is here!  In all honesty, I wanted to do this earlier, but I kept not doing it because either the review suddenly crashed or I didn't feel like doing it.  In my honest opinion, I find this the BEST game in general on the NES (FLAME SHIELD FROM SUPER MARIO BROS  3 FANS UP!)!  This also used to be my favorite Mega Man game in general, but I'll save that for later...  For now, let's CRASH the Super Mario Bros. 3 club and let's get this review done in a FLASH (pun intended, no offense intended).
Graphics:  This game's graphics are AMAZING!  The graphics are polished and look like what you would see in real life if super fighting robots existed.  They also pay attention to detail, such as bubbles in Bubble Man's stage, flowing lava in Heat Man's stage, and Mega Man blinking!  I also love this game's choice of color scheme, as all of it seems natural (in my perspective anyway...).  I give graphics a 10/10!
Sound:  If you've heard Wily Castle 1, then you already know how legendary this soundtrack is!  From slightly breezy soundtrack in Wood Man's forest, to tense, heated music for Heat Man's Lava Factory(?), to the darkness of Wily Castle 2.  This game seemingly goes past the NES's music capabilities.  Just one word: AMAZING!   I give sound a 10/10!
Addictiveness:  Mega Man games were made to play over and over and over again!  The game is fairly short, but not so short so that you would be done in 10 seconds flat (pun intended).  Because of it's decent length, the game makes you want to play over and over and over again!  If you've read my Kirby's Adventure review, then you know that I played that game twice.  I haven't tried to play this game again though... yet.  Because of that reason, I can only give addictiveness an 8/10.
Story:  Admittingly, Mega Man games weren't really good with story.  Short story long, it's been months since the events of the first game.  However, Dr. Wily decides to counterattack, so he creates 8 more robot masters.  Mega Man hear's of this, so he get's his plasma cannon ready (it's not the Mega Buster yet, so be patent!) and decides to fight the 8 robot master to save the world again!  That was still pretty short yet that's the long version!  Sorry Mega Man 2, i'm only giving your fairy tale story a 5/10.
Depth:  Depth doesn't have a lot, which is why I think this game was made for addictiveness, but let's describe everything you can do.  You can collect these E-tanks that restore your health by 28 points (your entire meter); you can hold up to 4 of these magical items.  There are 8 robot masters to beat, then you can go and defeat 5 wily stages!...  That was QUICK (another pun intended... fine, I'll stop these puns now)!  Depth, you got a 3/10
Difficulty:  HOLY GUACAMOLE!  This game is insanely hard!  All of the stages have a decent length (well... most...) and each one has at least one unique gimmick!  Ranging from Wood Man's hot dog enemies (not what you think), Heat Man's disappearing blocks, and don't even get me started with Quick Man's force beams of instant destruction!  Each stage is incredibly hard!  However, they're all learnable, so that keeps difficulty at a solid 7/10!
Overall:  This is a great game that you should check out!  If you want to get into the Mega Man series, then this is where you should start!  I give this game a 9.8/10!  Thanks for spending your time on reading my review, I appreciate it!  Please rate and comment on this review (it's okay to put in some suggestions, just don't flame, okay?).

The Game that defined Mega Man   pacman1755
This game in my opinion is what defines the gaming series known as Mega Man 2, it has just about everything you would expect from a Mega Man game. The difficulty isnt too bad, gets harder as you progress if you know some of the boss's weaknesses. The story is kinda bold for a Mega Man game, just stop Dr. Wily from ruling the world with his evil robot minions. Addictiveness is really great on this game, when you start, you dont wanna stop. Sound is really great as well, again, the music is what wins the most credit. Graphics are for a normal 8 bit game, but it is a good kind, so its a high rating. Overall this game is great and you should go on to the RGR and play this right now!
Happy Gaming! :)

The Blue Bomber Returns (Fixed)   uiopop
Here we are at what is arguably the best Mega Man game ever made! Let's see how this one fares...
This game picks up where the last game left off. Dr. Wily has returned with eight new Robot Masters and it is up to Mega Man to defeat them. After defeating them, Mega Man must storm the castle of Dr.Wily and defeat him once again. It continues the so far unbroken streak of "defeat Dr. Wily" but i'll give it points because it's only the 2nd game in the series to do this.
The graphics are pretty good, especially considering the time & console. Despite a bit of occasional sprite flicker, there are no major graphical glitches, which a nice breather from the constant sprite glitches of the last game.
The music is pure bliss, and is considered by many to be the best soundtrack in the series, with the music for wily 1-2 being considered by many to be the best song in the entire series.
The game is pretty addictive, with many different orders through which you can go through the Robot Master stages, and you can have a lot of fun with the weapons!
The game has little to offer in terms of stuff to find. There's E-tanks which restore your health, but they're fairly plentiful and you can only carry 4 .
All in all, Mega Man 2 is a great game, with great music, great graphics, and balanced difficulty.

Mega Man II Review   Lexatom
Alright, my second review, let's get this started.
Graphics- 8  Compared to other games on the system, this game has amazing graphics.  The blue color palette they use for Mega Man is superb, just like in the first game.
Sound- 10  The soundtrack in this game literally blows my mind.  Especially the Dr. Wily's Castle Stage 2 theme.  To me, I think this is the best soundtrack I've heard on the Nintendo Entertainment System.
Addictiveness- 8 Sometimes, I like backtracking through some games to see what secrets and easter eggs I can find that I missed.  And Mega Man 2 has some secret areas in its levels.
Story- 7 The story to this game is set in the year of 200X.  I don't remember much of the story, but I know it involves Dr. Wily creating Robot Masters wreaking havoc on the world.
Depth- 7 This game should take about a week or two to beat, if you're good enough at the game that is.
Difficulty- 9 The difficulty in this game is extremely high.  It has many challenges in points of the game that it puts you through... except Air Man's stage that is...
Overall Rating- 9.5  I give this game a 9.5 as my overall rating.  I enjoy this game, and am sure many others do too.  Let's just hope Capcom will try their best to make more outstanding Mega Man games in the future.

Mega Man 2   LinkTheHero092
I was never sure about Mega Man games, until my family bought an NES on eBay that came with (who guessed it) Mega Man 2!
I plopped the cartridge in and was blown away by the soundtrack! And the level design was phenomenal! Now, compared to the first Mega Man Installment on the NES this installment had more levels, harder bosses and enemies, more suits, and compared to most other games on the system better graphics.
||Story||
Dr. Wily's at it again and this time, with a vengeance. He's got more enemies to shoot, more Robot Masters to fight and more tactics to try and destroy Mega Man. It's up to you to help Mega Man to stop Dr. Wily and his Robot Masters, Bubble Man,Air Man,Quick Man,Heat Man,
Wood Man,Metal Man,Flash Man and Crash Man!!!
||Soundtrack and Sounds||
This soundtrack is amazing and makes you feel a sense of danger and adventure. Just listen to Wily's Castle Theme and the Title Screen
Theme. Oh and the sounds are great also compared to other games such as Mario and Zelda.
||Graphics||
The graphics are great like a lot of games on the NES(Mario,Zelda,Kirby,Punch Out,etc.)
Sprites are like the Mega Man I Sprites,Backgrounds are a little more detailed (except for that one at the beginning of Bubble Man's level. INSTANT SEIZURE!!!),level flooring is more detailed also.
||Gameplay||
The crisp gameplay of Mega Man I is back and better than ever! With an average running speed and very smooth shooting mechanics
and great jumping mechanics, the gameplay is great for gamers.
||Summary||
It's an overall great game and if you like sidescrollers you will love this game.
Some glitches come around but they aren't huge differences.
I give this game a Hero's seal of approval and a 9.5 rating!

Megaman 2 review   runescape123
here are tips!quickman:use flash stopper(drains his health),crash man:use air weapon, woodman:use atomic fire(1 hit ko with full pwr)everyone else, use metal blades,oh,and use bubble lead on heat man,and dont use crash bomber(restores all his hp). Overall the game was a great game. the game might not have had much story(or even talked about it) but that doesn't matter for this kinda game. The music, exceeds all expectations, and was some of the best on the nes at the time. The game can be either easy or hard depending on how you play the game(like if you follow the weakness course or just go in a random order) but its like that for all megaman games, so meh =P

Mega Man at its best   gamingbrony20
I can see now why people praise this game so much. Mega Man is surely an amazing game series. It's unique, it's flashy, and the levels are so great, the NES can't even handle it. This is really where Mega Man became so iconic. I'm so glad that Smash Bros. put him in the game. This game had so much remember-able things; bosses, game play, and fantastic music. The music is truly a sound to behold, and this is only 8-bit. Just imagine how mind blowing it is played on a guitar. Capcom has neglected Mega Man for too long. He must be rebuilt.

Airman-Wily stage 2 warp glitch

During the boss fight with Airman, use Item 1 so that the platform is created on the far left side. Jump on the platform, and you'll notice that it already becomes glitchy by not moving the Air attacks created by Airman. If you're in the correct position on the platform, as you go past the enterance to this room, it will act as though you just entered a door, and push you through the right hand side of the room. For some reason, this ends up being Stage 2 of Dr Wily's fortress, except that now all backgrounds/platforms are made up out of the backgrounds/platform textures of Airman's stage. IE they will be made up from clouds/skies.

Disapearing Enemy

In some areas of the game, if you see an enemy just on the edge of the screen and you move to the left then back, it will disapear and you won't have to fight it.

Warp to Wily Stage 1 from HeatMan's Stage

This glitch occurs while fighting HeatMan, and you need to have Bubble Lead weapon (to make it easier). In one of HeatMan's attacks, he tosses three small flames at you. When he does this, use the Bubble Lead twice so that two bubbles are on the screen along with HeatMan's fire sparks. Before the Bubble Lead hits HeatMan, jump towards the gate you entered the room in and as you touch the gate, get hit by one of HeatMan's flames. If done correctly, the gate will open and and transport you to the beginning Wily Stage 1.

Wily Stage 1 will not have its normal color scheme, but it will have the color scheme and tileset of HeatMan's stage instead. Once you manage to get here, you will be mysteriously hit by something invisible until you die. However, you will start at the beginning of this stage, and you will no longer get hit.

Turn Stars Into Birds

At the Stage Select Screen, hold down the A + B buttons and choose a boss. When the next screen comes up that displays the boss and his name, the stars in the background will turn into birds.

Avoid getting hurt.

If you repeatedly pause the game, enemy shots will pass directly through Megaman.

Infinite Quick boomerang, Metal Blade, and Bubble Lead

Select Quick Boomerang. Then shoot only 7 at a time. Press start and select Quick Boomerang again. It won't waste! Do the same thing with Metal Blade except only shoot 3 at a time and with Bubble Lead only 1 at a time.

Some of the best 8 bit music ever. Google (GaMetal - Mega Man Mega Medley) for an awesome contemporary remix.
cujocricket 11-14-13 - 11:10 PM
This is one of the best

Did you notice that the sound the Dragon makes at the end of Dr. Wily Stage 1 is the same as the noise Satan makes at the beginning of Ghosts N' Goblins when he takes away Guinevere at the beginning of the game.

I'll post a run without video after the competition. Good luck speedrunners.
jerryaberry 10-20-13 - 05:20 PM
The lag is pretty crazy when I record. Definetly won't be competing in the speedrun. Fighting lag makes every "simple" jump a nightmare.

megaman 7 is a great game what are you talking about, the only bad megaman classic games are 5 and 6 only because they are below megaman standard.
cam1000123 10-02-13 - 11:52 AM
