EPIC!   Fattie54
All right then,
Hippie here. I am going to review this awesome game. Oh and iN008, don't b***h
about random capital letters. That never happened and never will. Jordan
Mechner, nice job. Anyways, this game appeals to many people. It has a nice
story line to it, pitch perfect controls, gosh darn it is addictive, the
difficulty is just right, the sound won't make my ears bleed and finally, it
has very nice graphics for the time. I just don't know how it was possible. The
cut-scenes giving a vivid description of what's going on in a game with no
dialogue WHATSOEVER works just right. The amazing controls allowing the player
to pull off tons of moves makes it easy to play, but the game itself is a
challenge.
This game just gives....and gives. With 2 buttons and a D-pad, you are able to
pull off 10 moves. And it isn't hard to figure out either. You can use high
middle and low kicks. You can also use high middle and low punches. When you
begin the game, you are running. Press down to get into your fighter pose. When
you ‘kill’ the opponent, press up again to run. However, there is one fatal
flaw with running, and that is when you are hit in your running stance, you
DIE. One hit and you are finished.  That
seems really dumb, but it makes the game more challenging I guess.
The sound track is pretty good. The intro
theme is epic, and the sound effects are humorous. The cut scene themes are
cool too, such as when Akuma (the villain) points in your direction, telling a
soldier to attack. The music you hear when you see Princess Makio (the Peach of
this game) is the intro theme, but with a sad feel to it.
This game seems a bit unfair. The one-hit-running-thing is a prime example.
The enemies are always out to get you along their evil birdies! I just
feel very outnumbered and alone. I think a 2-player option would perfect this
game.
I'm just going to sum things up fast. Great graphics for '84, the story line is rather interesting, a great game that could have had some things changed, a wide arsenal of attacks and a damn fine game! Hey, you know that part of a game that is jsut memorable? Contra had the exploding bridges, Mario had the iconic tune, Binary Land had that awesome starting theme and this game has a pit fall. Right behind you in the beginning of the game, is a pit fall that I will remember for the rest of my life. I know it's retarded to point this out, but the falling animation is awesome. Anyways, thanks for reading and have a damn good night! Or morning. Or afternoon. Or evening. Or dawn. Or dusk. Or-- forget it, goodbye and have a good lifetime. There we go!
