Final Fantasy - not quite the last one was it?   geeogree
Final Fantasy for the NES was made in 1987 and ushered in a new era of gaming for the console. It is one of the first (if not the first) multi-character RPG for any console to date. Having 6 classes to choose from at the beginning of the game is a great start. I can not say enough about this game or the influence it had on gaming going forward. Honestly though, taking this game alone and ignoring what came after, it is a bit of a shock that it was able to do so well and spawned the resulting game franchise that it did. The first game, while good, on its own is not amazing.
Graphics 7/10 – even this first rating is a tough one to make. The over world design is pretty basic. There is only a bit of variety in the kind of terrain you encounter and the castle and villages are pretty simple. The over world sprites are also pretty simple looking in comparison to the battle one. Not sure if it is because the over world one had to be shown from 3 or 4 perspectives but more could have been done for that.
Where Final Fantasy excelled in looks is in the battle window. The main character sprites in the battle window look great. And not only do they look great but they also move and have some basic animations and stuff. When they get hurt they fall down while the rest of the party battles on. And the monsters look fantastic. Of course many of the monsters are reskins of each other but even so there is more than enough variety in monster design to keep things interesting visually. I also liked that there are special boss designs on top of the regular monsters which helped you to know when things were really serious. I also liked the little detail in the battle at the top which showed the kind of area you were in. Sometimes it showed plains, or forests or pillars. Little variation based on where the monster encounter happened is not a big deal but shows the extra effort the developers put in to make the game great.
Sound 7/10 – Final Fantasy is known for having absolutely awesome music and while this game is stuck with NES sounds it still manages to build up some really awesome themes that continue throughout the series of games that follow. Again, because of the limitations I do not think this game deserves an overly high rating I still think that the music quality, in 1987, was high enough that it deserves credit for that. Not many games coming out around this time got music that has ended up being as iconic as Final Fantasy managed.
Addictiveness 6/10 – Final Fantasy is a good game to play and beating it once has made me want to play it again in order to accomplish everything the game has to offer. The open world concept is really great for a game this old and leaves you open to explore and discover all sorts of things the world has to offer.
However, the game takes quite a while to beat especially on your first try so it is not something you are likely to come back to right away. More than likely if I do play Final Fantasy again I’ll play with a walkthrough of some sort in order to experience as much of the game as I possibly can. At this point I do not want to wander around the world for hours on end trying to discover some secret in the world anymore. I would rather be able to find all those things easily so I can have experienced everything but without the hours of gameplay it took people back in the 80’s.
Story 7/10 – for the age this game was made the story for Final Fantasy was quite involved. You start out as 4 “Light Warriors” each carrying an Orb. In order to restore the Orbs the heroes must defeat the 4 fiends. However, the story is not that simple. There are multiple things that must be accomplished on the way like saving Princess Sara, retrieving a stolen crown, collecting a special herb to wake a sleeping Elf prince and so on. Each step in the process is required in order to progress through the game. Many of the things they heroes do is not integral to the original story but because they are required to gain access to new areas of the map there is no way to avoid many of them. I like this sort of thing because it keeps the story from being so simple minded in its goal of “beating the bad guys” and allows the heroes to do good things outside of the main quest. And for 1987 this sort of story was not a common thing. Most RPG’s of this time had a basic save the damsel beat the villain story that went no further than that.
Depth 10/10 – this game redefined depth for a video game. You start the game picking 4 characters from 6 possible classes. Each class has access to certain types of weapons and armor which vary from class to class. Some weapons and armor are magical and when used in battles will cast spells during the fight. There are also 2 types of magic (white and black) in the game and each type has a myriad of spells available to it. Each magic class and 2 combat classes also have access to a different number of spells with each type of magic. White mages and black mages have access to all of their respective spells. Red mages, ninjas and knights have access to variable amounts of white and black spells and can not use most high level spells.
There is also an experience system in the game for leveling up and later on there is a way to upgrade each class into a better version of that class. There are multiple villages to visit and items to get from those villages. There is also a boat and airship to make use of which make travelling the world much easier to do. Overall, for a game made in 1987, this is about as in depth of a game as you could imagine.
Difficulty 7/10 – with most RPG’s the difficulty limit is only as high as you are unwilling to grind levels. I based my rating on playing the game through without grinding levels. It is far from an impossible game to beat but it is still a challenge. It does not take much of a mistake in a fight to turn it from being an even fight that you are likely to win into a desperate fight that you are only barely surviving. Still, if you have any experience playing RPG’s then this game should be a straightforward experience for you. There is nothing about this game that makes it insanely difficult to play.
Overall 7.3/10 – a lot of people are likely to disagree with my overall rating (I just average out the 6 ratings I gave) but I think this is an accurate rating. There are a lot of aspects about this game that are good for its time but overall are not outstanding. This was the first game that eventually spawned a series of games that were MUCH better in many ways compared to this game. It is still worth playing this game because of its history. It is a fun game to play and well worth the effort to play it all the way through. Plus, if you are a completionist like I am then you will want to play this one to say you’ve played all the Final Fantasy games.

(not so) Final Fantasy   LegolasJJH
Final Fantasy, the first game of one of the most epic video game series known to man. Anyone who considers themselves a hardcore gamer should have heard of the Final Fantasy series before, well this is the game that started it all!
You begin Final Fantasy by choosing your party from 6 classes which include; Fighter, Thief, Black Belt, Red Mage, White Mage, and Black Mage. You get to choose 4 of these classes to make your party, and you could even choose 2 or more of the same class. Each class has its strengths and weaknesses. The fighter is the best melee fighter and is able to use the best weapons and armor, giving him a high attack and armor value. The Thief is a little less strong than the fighter but he is quicker and more evasive. The Black Belt is similar to the thief and fighter but instead of using weapons, he excels in using his bare hands. The White Mage is a master of white magic (obviously) which mostly consists of healing spells and spells that do damage to undead foes. The Black Mage is a master of Black Magic which mostly consists of damaging spells and debuff spells. The Red Mage class is like a combination class of the fighter, white and black mage classes, being not as good as any of those classes at what they do but able to do a little of everything, like a jack of all trades type class. After Final Fantasy 1 most subsequent games of the series got rid of the ability to create your team and instead people join you as you advance further in the plot. I really enjoy this part of Final Fantasy and feel it was a shame they got rid of the idea for future games.
If you have never played Final Fantasy before and you are ready to find out what all the hype is about, I recommend you go out and buy an actual copy of the game because it comes with a load of instructional manuals, maps, and charts of enemies, equipment and spells. These things will make your quest much easier and less confusing. I will never forget my first play-through of the game, I surrounded myself in all of this Final Fantasy memorabilia and also a pen and paper and prepared myself for the quest of a lifetime! Every time I would encounter a new enemy I would be excited to look at my monster chart and look up that enemy's stats and especially what that enemy was weak towards so I could dispose of the menace in the best way possible.
Now that you have created your party and prepared yourself, it is time to embark on your quest!
The game begins in the kingdom of Cornelia. You find out your 4 heroes are actually 4 heroes of legend named the Light Warriors. The world is in chaos, the four elemental crystals have been darkened. With this comes disorder among the world elements. The world is scorched with fire, the sea is evaporating and in turmoil, the wind has all but ceased in places , and the earth is decaying and rotting. It is foretold that only the 4 Light Warriors can bring light back into the elemental crystals and restore order to the worlds elements. Your first mission upon leaving the Kingdom of Cornelia is to head north and rescue the Princess from the evil clutches of Garland, thus begins your Final Fantasy.
GRAPHICS: 9
The graphics of the game are pretty much what you would expect from a RPG on the NES. What is done especially good about the graphics is the sprites of all the different monsters that you will face. The overworld map is somewhat bland and your own character sprites are kind of small and undetailed, but later in the game you are able to advance your characters and then their look becomes much better.
SOUND: 10
The sound is incredible. I almost had to give this category a 1/10 because the music is so good in this game you wont be able to get it out of your head! Definitely one of those games where you will find yourself humming the music after a play session. If I could say anything badly about the sound it would be the special effects, but the music is SO good that I just couldn't bare to give this category anything short of a perfect score.
ADDICTIVENESS: 10
This is a long game and will take upwards of 20 hours to complete. Once you start leveling your party and get into the story you will not want to quit until you find out what happens until the end.  But what really made this game addicting for me was the ability to play so many different party combinations. Since their are 6 classes and only room for 4 players in your party , you will have to exclude at least 2 classes , so this will leave you wanting to replay the game to get to play those 2 classes you missed the first time.
STORY: 10
The story of this game is probably the best story of any NES game. NES games just do not have much to offer in the story department normally, opting instead for all gameplay. This game breaks that rule. The story had me captivated all the way until the end. Their is even a major plot twist that will leave you shocked. It sure did for me.
DEPTH: 10
Like I already said, this game is long and takes a long time to complete. It's one of those games where you may feel a need to grind for levels at some points just so you are strong enough to face the next dungeon. Also the party combinations add to the depth, you can even do things like challenge yourself and try to complete the game with 4 white mages.
DIFFICULTY: 9
This game is hard, you wont find yourself breezing through it from start to finish anytime soon. You also will find that if you try to do certain parts of the game without first properly leveling up your party will soon perish. The composition of your teams party also can drastically increase or decrease the games difficulty. For instance, if you wanted the game to be easy you would want a party with 2 or even more fighters because quite frankly they are the strongest class in this game. Adversely if you wanted more of a challenge you would do the a fore mentioned 4 white mage challenge. Or if you wanted a difficulty in between those two you would just make your party a diverse one of different classes. The game is challenging but if most people invested enough time in grinding it is a game most people could finish.
OVERALL: 9.9
I give Final Fantasy a overall score of 9.9. This game is nearly perfect , only some minor perfecting like slight graphics and sound effect updates and it would be. Luckily Final Fantasy fans get just that in some of the remakes for the game! The only other bad thing you could possibly say about the game is maybe it could be made easier at about the marsh cave because you really have to grind before this level which could become boring to some people. The story, gameplay, depth, and music in this game makes it a must play to all RPG fans. Not to mention just the significance this game played on the gaming and rpg world. Anyone looking to get into the Final Fantasy series look no further than the first game of the series. If slaying monsters, casting spells , and saving the world is something that sounds like fun then play this game!

Final Fantasy: the game that started it all   janus
The world is vieled in darkness. The wind stops, the sea is wild, and the earth begins to rot. The people wait, their only hope, a prophecy.... " When the world is in darkness Four Warriors will come...." After a long journey, four young warriors arrive, each holding an ORB.
You are the one controlling who these warriors are. You can be a warrior (who wields the best weapons and armors, which can be expensive, and who can only get white magic once he gets promoted), a thief (who can't use as many good weapons as the warrior but who is much faster AND can use black magic once he get promoted), a monk (who wears very little, making him swift enough to avoid hits, and attacks better barehanded in the long run), a white mage (weak physically but can get decent HP and white magic, among which is Harm, which can hurt undead pretty badly), a black mage (very weak physically and low HP, but can get every strong magic) or a red mage (can wield decent weapons AND can use both black and white magics).
Your journey begins in Corneria, a city whose princess has been captured by Garland, the best knight of the kingdom. You go and look for the princess in the northwestern ruins and easily dispose of him. When you get back to the castle, the king recognizes your group as the legendary four warriors. As a token of appreciation, he gets the bridge north of the kingdom completed so you can get the crystals you carry illuminated once again and conquer darkness.
You first come across the city of Provoka, which is undersieged by pirates! After fighting them, their captain gives you his ship. You can now freely sail around any port in the world (the brick-like formation near cities). After navigating for a while, you find Elfland, where the king is under a curse from Astos, the Dark Elf. Should he get the crown, then Elfland is doomed!
Fortunately, you find it in the Marsh Cave before him. You then go seek him in the northwest keep and defeat him. He was holding on to the crystal eye, which he stole from Matsoya the witch. She was so desperate to get it back (it gives her eyesight) that she gives you her best herbal medicine in exchange. You promptly bring it back to Elfland; it was able to cure the king! He recognizes you as the Warriors of the legend, and gives you the mystic key as a token of gratitude. What treasures will you find with that key? Will you be able to find the crystals before it's too late?
Graphics: 6/10
For a NES game, Final Fantasy had decent graphs, better than games of the era like Dragon Warrior I and Legend of Zelda. Overworld details are nice and characters are slightly better than DW. Finally, dungeons are more detailed than comparable games (they even have bats). However, transition between screens is absolutely painful and slow.
Music: 8/10
The music, I heard, was one of the features that attracted people to Final Fantasy. It's understandable; that's what propelled Nobuo Uematsu to the rank of video game superstar. FF gave the classical battle, victory and "major item" themes, all of which got improved over time. Unlike comparable games, the music loops after more than 30 seconds.
Addictiveness: 6/10
Although there aren't that many sidequests (you can theoretically finish the game without getting promoted), the fact that there are so many types of characters will make you want to try them all to see what is the best combination.
Story: 3/10
Let's be honest: odd Final Fantasies before FF 7 had no real story line. In I, four warriors just happened to walk by having crystals that a legend says will heal the world. It's a fairy tale really, and these aren't renowned for the depth of their story.
Depth: 3/10
The score is a logical continuation of the story. The four warriors don't utter a single word in the game. We know absolutely nothing about them - at least, in DW, we knew the main hero was a descendant on Endrick, who defeated evil long ago.
Difficulty: 8/10
Level grinding in very painful and long. If you venture too far once you get the boat, your team can get wiped out very easily. Plus, magic starting at level 3 is extremely expensive. You can hope to fight those pirates on the sea to get easy money, but they don't show very often...
In conclusion, unless you want to try games in their original forms, I wouldn't recommend it. It's slow, it's very long and difficult. However, the PSX and GBA versions have modernized Final Fantasy I to 16 bits, making it MUCH easier to play with.

Final Fantasy   Chronobocca
Graphics 10
When I think good graphics, I think Final Fantasy. The enemy and boss design is well done, the world map is top notch, and Garland's armor is shiny.
Sound 10
Final Fantasy has some of the best music and sound effects I have ever heard. The theme song sends me daydreaming, the victory theme is colorful, and the sound effects sound like magic and fighting.
Addictiveness 10
This game is SO good, I wish I still had it for my step dad's NES. I would, and still do, sit there, fighting enemies, for 6 HOURS for no reason, other than fun. There are different classes that you can use in your party, and in a way, it's kind of like difficulty. You can choose FighterX4, Thief, White Magi, Black Magi, and Red Magi, or Black Belt, Red MageX3, and a ton of other different combinations, that make the game harder and easier in different circumstances.
Story 10
2,000 years ago, 4 orbs shined bright, inside to outside, until they became dark. Final Fantasy Prologue: The world is veiled in darkness. The wind stops, the sea is wild, and the earth begins to rot. The people wait, their only hope, a prophecy.... When the world is in darkness, 4 warriors will come. After a long journey, 4 young people arrive, each holding an ORB...". And thus begins your story.
Depth 10
There are so many things to do in this game, that I don't think I will ever be able to beat this game at times. You start having to defeat Garland, the evil dark night. Then, you need to find Matoya's Crystal. Then, you need to free Provoka from pirates. Then, you need to do everything else on the southern continent. The world map is GIGANTIC. The Level Cap is Level 99. There are 8 spell levels. And there are so many bosses. This game is one of the biggest games I have ever played.
Difficulty 10
This game is also one of the hardest games I have ever played. I hardly make it past Garland sometimes. There are also regular enemies, that are harder to kill than bosses. For example, the Mad Pony can kill any magi in just 1 turn if you are not a high enough level. Creeps kill everyone in my party, every time I encounter one. I don't even DARE to fight ogres. Iguanas are incredibly tough, and take SO long to kill, I'm surprised I even kill 1 Iguana! This game is incredibly difficult, and that is one of my top ten favorite things about this game.
Overall 10
This game has great graphics, an incredible story, is very lengthy, and is very, very hard. But, the best part about it, is that it is the beginning of the best RPG saga in the world: FINAL FANTASY...

The beginning of an endless fantasy   mastersword2799
Final Fantasy is one of my favorite games. When I first played it I hated it because it was so hard. I took a second look and decided to take a strategic point of view. I rebooted my adventure with a Warrior, Monk, White Mage, and Black Mage. This time I completed the game, and I was pleased in doing so.
Graphics
This game has really good graphics, but they are generally only showed in the battles. The overworld is very colorful and interesting, but I feel that it sometimes lacks detail and there is A LOT of water. The enemy sprites however, are excellent. They are at top quality and look amazing. The design for the characters is clever and cool looking, and the spells have interesting effects. I rate this an 8.
Sound
Oh, my. This game has some of the best music any game can have. Who can forget the legendary Final Fantasy theme and Matoya's Cave? Being a fantasy game, you would expect fantasy and medieval like music. That is what you get, except you multiply it by 100. This game has beautiful themes like the castle theme, and the battle theme is upbeat and interesting. This deserves a complete 10.
Addictiveness
This game gets really addicting. I must say though, it gets really slow at times, especially in the beginning, as you will grind forever. Especially if you want that Mythril sword :P. The excess of grinding gets boring and the lengthy dungeons with the constant damage being put on your team makes the game tedious at times, but extremely rewarding at the end. There are many difficult enemies(like every boss), so you may be discouraged, but with determination and 3 hours of grinding you can do it! I give this a 7.
Story
Do I even need to say it? This game is the father of all RPGs in terms of story. Final Fantasy is just that, a fantasy, but an AMAZING ONE. I don't want to spoil anything in this game as it needs to be played all the way through to be understood. If you want a game with story, this is the game. If I could rate this a 20 I would, so this is a 10.
Depth
This game has a good level of depth, but most of the questing in this game is the story. Despite seeming to be random, all the quests are part of the main quest and there aren't any other options. At the beginning of the game, you have the option of choosing the class for 4 different characters. Each combinations calls for a different strategy and play style. With a total of 6 classes and only 4 slots, there are a total of 209 combinations. I rate this 9 just for that reason. Who needs side quests when you can replay the game 209 times?
Difficulty
This game as I stated before requires a lot of grinding, meaning enemies get much harder, and bosses are very difficult as well. In addition to this, the concept of magic points or mana points was pretty much amount of uses. Each level of spell has a certain amount of uses depending on you level and class. This made using spells very difficult throughout the game, until you fight a boss and just throw every spell at him until he melts. Have you ever tried beating final fantasy with 4 black mages? This gets a 10.
This game is my favorite out of all Final Fantasy games(yes, even FFVII). This game has great graphics, excellent music, and a story that will make you cry in the end. This is a game that I recommend to anyone with the time and determination of a legendary RPG.

Final Fantasy (NES) Review   acam
Now, I am not used to going outside of my comfort zone in terms of gaming. i am usually tied (in a manner of speaking) to my 4 gaming series, Pokemon, Sonic, Kirby, and, on occasion, Metroid. In fact, until recently, I saw the Final Fantasy series as little more than a than an overblown, overrated mess. While I still believe that it is a tad overrated, I can now see why the series is as popular as it is through personal experience.
Since there is the most to talk about in the game play department, I will go over that first. As in Pokemon, there are random encounters. However, unlike it, instead of learning new moves through leveling up, one must buy weapons and spells in order to attack enemies. Depending on the characters' attributes, both weapons and magic can be picked out that have an effect on the amount of damage done to enemies. I will not go in to much more here, but, I will mention that the controls are very concise and well-done.
Grinding can determine how difficult this game is. If you have many random encounters and level up a lot, this game could be a piece of cake. On the other hand, if you decide to try and push through this game in one big speed run, this game will get very difficult very fast.
The sound is good because it has a lot of memorable tunes to go along with the standard Nintendo Entertainment System stock sound effects. I especially like the over world theme.
The story is thus: 4 "Light Warriors" come out of nowhere, each holding an orb of which they must revitalize in order to save the world.
Finally, the graphics are pretty good considering that Final fantasy is a  Nintendo Entertainment System
 game.
In summary, whether you're a Final  Fantasy Fan or not, anyone can enjoy this game, and I would highly recommend it.

Final fantasy   jlh
Another review by JLH !  I decided to do a review on this game because I recently played and beat this game, I never played this game when it came out, when I first seen this game last year I had to buy it. I knew it was going to be a fairly long game. With all the characters, magic, enemies and levels it has, it takes a while to finish the game.Thats why I give this game a score of 9 overall.
The graphics were okay at the time. Cool enemies, colorful main bosses and magic,  to the map board and inside the towns looked  nicely drawn. If you make it to a certain level some of the main graphics will change.( I won't tell you which graphics change you will have to play)That really why I gave this game a high score on graphics. 9
This game has some good melodies for the background. Comparable to Legend of Zelda or other genres of RPGs in terms of music, which I like. Pretty much all the actions in the game has a sound to it. The map and battle music changes so that's a makes it a pleasure to play. I give it a 9.
Addictiveness is on the high side of 8, just because of the replay value it has.  This game might take a little time to get building your experience, but it worth it if you like RPGs. Sometimes you have to search for your next level but it's not to hard, it adds a little bit to the replay.
The story was typical of 4 characters saving the world. A lot of reading through out the game made it enjoyable to play. That's why this game gets a 9 from me. Although typical, the story of good V's evil, save the world, the story has a lot of content to it and is interesting.
Like I sayed earlier with all the characters, enemies, main bosses, building your magic and experience there a lot to do in this game. Plus you can search for treasures of items,  weapons, and armor. In the depth category, This game gets a high score of 9.
The difficulty comes in at a 7. If you don't level up the game can be hard. Other than that it may take a while to beat this game. That is why it gets a lower score.

Not the final, but one of the best   TetraDigm
Now here is a true classic. While crawling through old Nintendo games, you will find one reoccurring factor: almost every game is a copy/pasted clone of other games and offers nothing in the way of challenge, need for thought, or factors to make you return willingly. While you have a handful here and there worth playing again and again regardless of the low quality graphics and sound, it is sadly rare.
Enter Final Fantasy. Supposedly it was thought the game would be terrible in the sales department because they believed Americans didn't care about RPGs. So they pooled together what I can only imagine were the best coders at the time, created music that while still low quality was excellent, graphics that while looking terrible, STILL managed to show great detail, and an OKAY, but superior to any other NES game, story based upon the age old sure thing of "you're saving the world and everyone else is just gonna stand by and watch".
With this game, they managed to create an instant classic. From the first moment you load the game, you are introduced with a small back story, a beautiful song (aptly named Prelude), and a simple no-non-sense starting menu. New Game. Continue. Message Speed. You only have 1 game, but you only need one game. Begin your quest, and you are greeted by something unheard of on an NES RPG : a character creation menu. Now this might not seem like much today, and really it shouldn't, this should have been a basic thing from the very beginning of RPGs. But back in 1987, this was an amazing feature. Choose your party, create your own difficulty for the game. Each character has their own traits, from the fighter who is just a plain beast on damage, but very expensive, to the black belt who is an average fighter, but free, to the red mage, who is completely useless in every party.
The game throws you out into the middle of a field. You have to choose to be smart and head to town or be Mr big guy and try fighting monsters naked. Overall the game leads you on a path loosely defined, with plenty of text from NPCs to tell you about what's going on, hints on where to go, and even a few on fighting enemies. The entire time you are greeted by a catchy and well made tune that never gets old, to this day I still walk around humming the battle theme in hopes of finding a grey imp on the sidewalk. The player and NPC sprites are terrible, and have the most basic animation that they could have done much better, but the enemies sprites are amazingly detailed for the time. The story is decently long, with a few plot twists thrown in, but overall its pretty basic and uninspiring, yet still better then any other NES games. The game is decently long, very long for actually including a real story unlike dragon warrior, which is "grind enemies for 20 hours till you're strong enough for the next land mass", but once again its a very basic story.  Difficulty is a difficult thing to weigh in this game, as how hard it is will depend directly on what your party is, and some parties will breeze through the first or second half while struggling on the other. Overall however, once you know your characters and enemies well, the game loses any real difficulty. It devolves into the same RPG battle formula of "fire on the grass enemies, lightning on everything in water, and spam attack and everything dies". There are only basic spells, stats have a minute effect on battles, buffs are useless, and  debuffs/shields are only useful in a handful of cases. It all falls into killing 1 enemy over and over because it drops lots of money, running from everything else because it poisons you or is a waste of time, and buying the most expensive stuff to super own every monster in the lands.
Overall, this game is worth playing. For the time it comes from, it showcases the very best around it. It lacks the idiotic attempts at "humor" the rest of the series attempted, the worthless mascot characters who don't ever actually do anything in any of the games, the terrible pop culture that appeared more and more when the Japanese realized we would buy these games, and contained the features that would become a stable in almost all RPGs thereafter.  One of, if not the best game, on the NES, it is worth a play or 50.

Final Fantasy Classic   Kyle!
Now I still up to today, refer Final Fantasy to Moby Dick, and Final Fantasy 1&2 Dawn of Souls (DoS) to The Titanic. They were 'oldies-but-goodies' and still have a special place in my dad's chest of NES games that still work (Why can't that NES from twenty or so years ago be here to see it's treasury to my father) , this game was a 'Last resort attempt' which I will not talk about due to the fact that it has already been explained in my Dawn of Soul review.
This game had good depth, for the fact that my father told me he would get angry being unable to know where to go once you have the airship and vented it out on grinding.
The sound was ear-piercing- pain that was unbearable (But what can I say for a classic NES game?), the sound hurt my dad's ears he said he almost was traumatized from it (But we all knew he could just grind it out :D ).
I chose four for difficulty due to the fact that from what I've seen, heard, and played, the GBA (Game Boy Advance) version was a lot easier since the story is more pointed out to you unlike the NES version where you can wonder around identical desert-like locations accidentally going in circles, you may even encounter extremely difficult monsters that may one-hit-KO your team.
I also chose seven for the addiction rating because if I wasn't forced to play the entire NES version to review it's difference from the GBA version, I was easily more interested in spending pointless hours looking up a emulator for a game I knew would never have an emulator-Pong. No just kidding, but the replay value isn't quite good because in the world map/over world (Depending on what game of Final Fantasy) when you encounter a super long battle against the most basic monsters will make players whine like a dog, or beg for mercy as a soldier captured at war to win the fight already, and save the game go live life... Sorry if that was a little too dramatic but that's my personality, some people who know me like Mr.Pace, and RedmageCole would understand my behavior the most on this site probably...
Well the graphics were rated a six because actually, for a NES game that came out in the eighties' (In Japan it was released in the 1980's but in North America it was in the 90's) tha'ts rated above four in graphics is good actually... Come on, it's a NES game, these are actually pretty good ratings for a NES game. Well thank you for reading! And I hope you comment positive/negative comments for things I should and shouldn't work in my reviews and other things like threads in the community on this site!

Awesome game   jbeauchamp58
I bought and played this game on my 8 bit NES when it first came out.  It was the most expensive game NES had at the time at $75.  It was and still is my favorite game on that platform.  I played a few of the FF games that came out afterwards but they weren't as fun as the first.  The main thing that I hated about subsequent versions was that the story lines got way too convoluted and the game did a lot of automatic stuff that kept you from actually playing the game.  This first game had none of that and I liked having my Characters throughout the game instead of having characters come and go at will.  I also remember the first time I played this game I actually felt a sense of accomplishment after defeating Chaos because I had put in a lot of hours playing the game.  I got every pennies worth of that original $75 investment.  I highly recommend this game to anyone who likes RPG's.  I guarantee it will keep you entertained for quite awhile.

Quick tip for people playing this game. when you get your ice 2 spell there is a great farming place better than ogres. The penisula east of pravoka will give you the monsters as the same as the island above it. this means rex genies ect. one group can
