Final Fantasy IV Advance Review   earthwarrior
Intro:
Today I'm reviewing Final Fantasy IV Advance. I absolutely loved this game from the moment I picked it up to when I started this review. Overall this is an excellent game. It has monsters, magic, leveling up, a fantastic story, and catchy music. What more can you want? I loved everything in it. I would  only make a few changes to it like more enemy drops and a higher drop rate. PLEASE give it a try. I'm sure you wont be upset unless you have RPG's or don't like final fantasy.
Graphics 8/ 10:
The graphics in this game were great! Especially for a GBA game. It was clear so I could easily read everything and it didn't glitch once for me. A lot of other games had minor glitches, but this one didn't have any. At a glance most people would say they were bad and move on, but it isn't for it's time. If you take some time to pay attention to it's detail you will appreciate more retro games. Two examples:

Clearly the graphics can't be missed. Pixel by pixel all I see is true beauty.
Sound 10/ 10:
Great. Far better than other GBA games. This game had music that I actually hummed to. Not many games do that. As soon as you start the game you will be hooked. I really like the title theme and the boss battle theme. Sometimes I even hum it when I'm not even playing and sometimes I played the game just so I could hear the music.  This is the main reason I loved this game.
Addictiveness 8/ 10:
This game was very addicting at first, but I started playing it less and less later on. It gets repetitive constantly training. It's really hard to beat the game if you don't train. I highly recommend you do. Customizing my characters was really addicting. Me personally can spend hour after hour finding the right equipment. This part never got boring. I liked seeing the different combinations and seeing the type advantages. Yeah some weapons have a certain element and are strong against certain enemies. It will give you at least a few hours non stop playing. Trust me ;).
Story 9/ 10:
The story was pretty good. It's very deep. Simple words cannot fully describe it. You just have to play it to feel deeper emotions. SPOILER ALERT
You are Cecil a dark knight from the nation Baron. It's strong military and legendary air units, the Red Wings, make it a very tough nation. After the king gets corrupted he commands Baron to steal the world's crystals. If he gets all of the crystals the world as we know it will change... You Cecil don't believe in his ways so he leaves Baron and tries to stop them. Cecil also has to save his friends and try to help the other nations with crystals. With your partners Rydia, Rosa, Cain, Porom, Palom, Edge, and a few others you need to put an end to this madness.
END OF SPOILERS
Depth 10/ 10:
This game was pretty lengthy. A little too much if you ask me. It has lots of weapons, spells, and places to go. There isn't much more you could add to this. If you try to collect everything you'll be here for a long time. In each battle you have lots and lots of options. You can use the character's special moves, black magic, white magic, and items. Like palom and porom have a special twincast move. If they both are in battle they can cast a very strong spell. It takes a while to charge, but it will be worth it if you are fighting a tough boss. Rydia the summoner also can use summon magic. The can summon various monsters to fight for you. Like the cockatrice summon summons a cockatrice to battle. The cockatrice will cast petrify and will defeat an enemy with 100% accuracy unless it is immune to petrify.
Black magic is basically offensive magic. It is used by black mages and summoners. It can do a lot of damage, but it has a longer charge time and it costs mp. White magic is healing magic. It will heal your team right up. White mages use this. Both black and white magic also have other magic that don't really fit their description. Some white magic doesn't heal and some black magic doesn't hurt the enemy. Like the white magic ensuna takes away all bad status effects. And the black magic toad turns the enemy into a toad. There are lots of items. Each have different uses and can replace some magic.
Difficulty 7/ 10:
Well in the beginning this game is very easy, but in the end it gets hard. Soon you will have to level up a lot, get better weapons, and be prepared. I'm sure you don't want to spend minute after minute grinding (leveling up) when you could of saved yourself earlier. Train early and whenever you have time. Also be aware of the time limits. Each spell you cast has a certain amount of time you have to wait for it to be used. Don't have all of your units charging their attacks. They will be vulnerable and you wont be able to do anything.
Overall 10/10:
I loved this game. You will be happy with the time you spend in it. The amount of content in it is so exceptional it will keep you busy for a long time. The first few towns can take a day to finish if you take your time, train, and just have fun. There are lots of things to notice. You might even find a secret passageway and get a few useful items you wouldn't of seen before. If you read above and still aren't satisfied with the game sorry, but I'm sure most of you will give this game a try and will enjoy it. Thanks for reading :). Happy gaming.

Final Fantasy IV Advance Review
Intro:
Well, we probably don't need another review for this fantastic game. But I'll take a swing at it anyways. After playing the game on every platform it has been on, mastering the game down to every aspect you can think of, and pouring over 140 hours in to the game... I believe my insight may be slightly appreciated.
Graphics 10/ 10:
The game has been released on several platforms due it's huge success with people of all ages. Even on Apple's App Store, and Android's Play Store! Taking in to consideration that the game was initially released in 1992, and the graphics have only gone through minor transformations between the platform ports, the graphics should be looked at as incredible for a game released in that time period. If you take the time to truly examine the world, monsters, and spells that you encounter throughout the game.. It is truly an inspiring pixel-by-pixel art piece of a game!
Sound 10/ 10:
Baffling sound effects. As should be expected from Square, of course. And not to mention the music we all fell in love with in the final fantasy series. From the title screen jingle, to the chocobo dance song, to the intense boss battle music. This game gets it right every time. The actual sound effects themselves are so fitting and satisfying. When you win a battle and collect you spoils, or cast your new incredibly powerful spell, you'll be loving every minute of it.
Addictiveness 10/ 10:
I personally found this game to be nearly impossible to put down once I got in to it. I, myself, am a hardcore completionist. So this game gave me an insatiable craving for more. And the further you get in the game, the more powerful you and your enemies get, the more fun the story gets, and the more you just want to keep playing to see what happens next. This won't apply to everyone, obviously. Especially when you get to a more difficult spot. But that satisfaction you get after you beat a boss you've been stuck on for ages.... absolutely incredible.
Story 9/ 10:
The story is really, really good for a game that is so limited by the technology it is given. The story is presented in a way that flows smoothly with your game play and will leave you wanting more. Rather than force-feeding you a pointless story, it integrates it in to every aspect of the game so well. I promise you'll find the story rather enjoyable. And a lot less dark and sad than most other final fantasy games. A lot less deaths of characters that you end of developing a connection to! Summary:  The game's story follows Cecil, a dark knight, as he tries to prevent the sorcerer Golbez from seizing powerful crystals and destroying the world. He is joined on this quest by a frequently changing group of allies. Final Fantasy IV introduced innovations that became staples of the Final Fantasy series and role-playing games in general. Its "Active Time Battle" system was used in five subsequent Final Fantasy games, and unlike prior games in the series, IV gave each character their own unchangeable character class.
Depth 9/ 10:
The depth of this game is just another one of my favorite things that always comes with Final Fantasy games. There is so much to do. So many monsters to kill, so many spells to unlock, so many items to find and buy, so many rare items/weapons to find. And just when you think that you're already a bit overwhelmed by how much of the game there is, almost right off the bat you have most of the world unlocked via airship! And once you beat the game there is so many more powerful and rare things to unlock to further enhance your game play experience. And in an attempt to avoid spoiler... keeping it as vague as possible, you unlock several different characters with their own unique personalities and abilities. And the post-game is basically just as good as the entire game in general in my opinion.
Difficulty 5/ 10:
Very easy to learn how to play, although it doesn't explain how certain mechanics of the game work, it's not hard to learn them. I also have a full, in-depth game guide posted for this game if you're interested. Once you get the hang of certain mechanics, (weaknesses, resistances, spells, items, etc.) the game becomes even more fun and maintains a pretty consistent difficulty throughout. If you're expecting to run through a game like this without doing any kind of grinding, though, then you should move on to a different game.
Overall 10/10:
It has to be my favorite handheld game, and favorite Final Fantasy game (other than FFXII) of all time. Extremely enjoyable game that is easy to immerse yourself in and find yourself ending up dumping 50+ hours in to perfecting it. I highly recommend this game to just about anyone. Every one's experiences will vary, but i promise that if you like RPGs, you'll absolutely love FFIV!

Crazy difficult yet amazingly rewarding   darksonic11
Final Fantasy 4
Wow, this is a game I will remember for the rest of my life mainly because of how long it took me to beat it the first time and it's because it's story was very well executed.
Story:
Final fantasy 4's greatest part was of course it's story which while it was simple at times it always kept it's fantasy setting full of characters  that fit it   quite well.
The story begins in the kingdom of baron where in it you are introduced to the games main character Cecil who is a dark knight who is forced to commit evil crimes and steal the crystals from defenseless people and begins to question his king orders.
Difficulty:

Man, this game is definitely one of the hardest RPGs I've ever played as this game makes you grind allot more then expected and you better not forget to buy healing items constantly or you could get into some pretty difficult situations.
Addictiveness:
If you ask I will tell you I have played this game twice, once one the DS and once here on vizzed but truthfully you should just experience this game once as it can get boring at the times you need to grind.
Sound:
The soundtrack is all of what you would expect from a classic Final fantasy game with a calming overworld theme and a really awesome boss battle theme and who could forget the main theme of Final fantasy that plays in the very beginning of the game as the star wars type of summery rolls across the screen.
Game play:
This was the first game in the Final fantasy series to include the Active Time Battle system which makes battles allot more intense and epic in dire situations.
Along with the ATB system the game still plays like a normal RPG in which you can use items, attack and cast magic spells to defeat your enemies.
Like Final fantasy 1 all playable characters have preset jobs(classes) the all have their own unique abilities like Rosa, a white mage can cast healing magic that can save you even in the most dire moments.
Depth:
The gameboy advance version of this game probably has the most depth out of all of them as it has a bonus dungeon and fact that you can play as characters that once were only playable at specific points in the story and would never rejoin you later on.
In conclusion I think Final Fantasy 4 is great example of what a fantasy RPG should be like.
For alternate video game recommendations I could suggest Chrono Trigger as they both have great stories and the same ATB battle system, Final Fantasy 1 because as I mentioned above they both have almost the same jobs(or at least have the same style), Final Fantasy 2 as they both have a plot involving dark knights, dragoons and corrupt empires and not to mention that both the main characters have white hair and finally Final Fantasy 6 because it also has an evil empire and characters that you don't forget.

Final Fantasy IV Advance   greyson
I found this game easy at parts such as right after exiting the castle or trying to fight a Zemus Breath since it only uses scan and entangle. There is also hard parts such as fighting the Octomammoth. In any case this game is more for the older ages (teen) due to the mild language at certain parts. I am at the final boss and I find that his secret attacks big bang and whirl are used continuously which makes it hard to pass by them without being defeated in regard to the fact that it affects everyone and even through most armor seeing its an electric attack. Even so there is a way to beat him I have seen it. Dark elf you can beat him easy in his dark dragon form because it has a secret weakness that is a black magic attack called tornado. And Palom and Porom are revived during the game so when they turn into stone you will be able to use them again. All bosses that I have beaten have a weakness. Barbaricca, her weakness is Kains jump attack. Cagnazzo, his weakness is thundaga or blizzaga , thunder for the water and blizzard without it. Regardless all bosses are beatable except for Rydia she joins you team after you battle but lose to her. In conclusion this game is fun and brain testing but well worth the time taken to play it.

Final Fantasy IV Review   Tekky7
This game's storyline was astounding. Great amount of customization,
like in every Final Fantasy. There's about 12 characters to use,
with about 10 unique jobs to master. Unique ways of leveling up
and completing challenges for rare items and spells were implemented...
you had to defeat a certain type of enemy in a certain
dungeon with certain gear equipped to get 99 in a
stat at level 99. New items provided the ability for field effects,
saving magi their MP, at the mere price of their purchase. Quite
convenient, though, if your mage(i) is(are) low or have no MP. Nice
soundtrack as well, Zeromus had a good one, as well as the normal
boss battle. I also liked the one in Mysidia. Quite catchy. The
Lunar Whale was stunning, as well was the moon. The side quests were
numerous and sometimes they were really challenging. Quite fun,
though. Zeromus EG was added, who was a great deal of difficult to
battle. Post-Game side quests were great, lots of challenges for the
large amount of characters.

Love it.   jayron122
This game is my favorite final fantasy for the gameboy game in the world.  I love it the graphics the story I played it for like 4 hours that's how much I like this game.  The sound or music is beautiful I love almost every song some are annoying though I will admit but that's like maybe 2 or 3.  Also I love all the  characters especially Cecil in paladin form kain, edge, rydia in grown up form or mature form or whatever it's called oh and my most favorite of all of them is... Cid he is my most favorite one.   Overall this game is amazing  games besides final fantasy 7 buts that's a different story.  I recommend this to anyone who wants to play a fun filled intense fun storied game.

It is official.... this emulated version doesnt have the Princess Flan's drop, the Pink Rat Tail used to get the adamant armor. I get drops every turn of ether, elixer, fuma shuriken (Or two drops mix and matched) but no pink tail. 3,000 kill 0 tails drop
cheezerton 03-07-15 - 03:26 PM
Anyone else got the PINK rats tail drop yet in this em version? Ive used over 200 sirens on Flan princesses and 34+ hours of in-game play with nothing yet. On reg version I'd have 5 of them by now.
