Dig Dug II, an underrated classic supersonic44
If you're reading this review, chances are you think there's something special about nostalgic games. Something about them helped you through your childhood, or they just were an amazingly fun distraction. Everyone always had this one game that they stick by no matter what, even is the game itself wasn't great in your eyes. Dig dug always had a special play in my gamer heart because it was the first game I played. I was 4, and my dad let me play his PlayStation, along with a Namco Museum contemplation. He was trying to convince me to play something like PAC-man or pole position, but I wanted to play Dig Dug. That was 11 years ago. Anyway, when I heard there was a Dig Dug II, I had to play it. So, after spending 1.5 hours on it, I finally have a score that isn't a ten "because its Dig Dug II."
Story:
Theres aliens, and you have to kill them. Shocker. Honestly, though, I like this story. Or, at least, what this game does with it. It just gives the story once. What I mean is there isn't any cut-scenes after any level saying that, "you're closer to the goal" or something. Not bad, Dig Dug II. 4/10.
Presentation:
The graphics and sound are all classic 80's. The main theme that plays during gameplay is catchy, and the "Emergency" theme, (the theme when only a few monsters are left,) is exactly what it should be, urgent. Also, the graphics are exactly what they should be. A little improvement from the first dig dug, and nothing more. 8 for graphics, and 8 for sound, with an 8/10 total for presentation.
Gameplay:
This is where this game gets great. If you never played the first dig dug, you play as an exterminator doing what he does best, exterminating. He exterminates two main creatures. Pookas, small, orange things that kill you by touching you. And Fygars, dinosaur-like creatures that kill you by touching you and breathing fire on you. Where this game does more than the original Dig Dug is allow you to drill. Let me explain. By pressing the A button, you can access a drill. This is used to create connecting paths on holes, create a big enough path, and parts of land will crumble to the ground, along with the monsters on it. But, you better be careful, or else you'll fall off too. This simple mechanic makes the game more fun then it should be, and really increases replayability for that good old "higher score." Tightest gameplay ever. 9/10.
Interesting thing about this game:
This is an arcade game with no bonus stages. In fact, it doesn't have a bonus anything. No bonus movies or anything. You couldn't have put ANYTHING in, Namco?
Overall:
Dig Dug II is a worthy successor to the original classic. It makes all the improvements necessary for a sequel, yet keeps the gameplay fresh enough for Dig Dug veterans to feel right at home. It's a game that's worth your time and Viz. 7.5/10

Dig Dug II Review Marcmoney
Overall - 9
Dig Dug II on the NES is a big difference than the first one. It is a good game to play. I really did not seem to understand playing Dug Dug games, but then I got the hang of it and I seemed to like this kind of game. It is different, once you have played the first one and started playing the second one, you will see a lot of things that are different. The game is kind of like a puzzle, sort of like Pac-Man and Legend of Zelda on the NES put together. This game should have been popular in this year because it sure is a classic to me.
Graphics - 9
The graphics are amazing. It is a whole lot different than the first one. The difference is that it plays in a 3D image than a 2D. Another thing is that the effects are a whole lot better and seems to make the players surprised. :)
Sound - 8
The sound is pretty much the same. It has normal background music and pretty much the same sound effects (sort of).
Addictiveness - 7
I would play this some of the time. It is a great game for the NES. You do not see a lot of NES games that are good, but this one is a good classic game. I would play it most of the time out of other NES games.
Story - N/A
I do not think that there is a story in this game. All you do is go around trying to defeat the enemies and continue on to the next level.
Depth - 8
The game has a lot more features than the first one. For example, the graphics and the way it plays. You are not underground in this game, you are basically on islands that you can tear apart and defeat your enemies. Another thing is that the enemies look different and they look a lot better. Some enemies have the same thing like blowing fire and what not. It is good to have these kinds of features cause without it, this would be very boring.
Difficulty - 6
The game is quite hard to say. I will admit, I have played this many times and I do not think that I have beaten at least 5 levels. I am a newbie at this and I am still trying to get to know the game more often because it is more different. What I do not like is that you can cut parts of the island, but what is so confusing to me about it is where to exactly cut at cause when I try to cut part of the island and I expect the enemies to die, they do not. Instead, the island cuts the part of where I am at. It is so confusing that I would get tired of it and just take a break from it. I know that you can get more score by cutting part of the island and the enemy is on it, but I would mostly just rather blow them up. More fun. :P
Wrap Things Up...
Dig Dug II is very fun. Just talking about it makes me want to play it. I recommend trying this game out if you have not already. I guarantee that you will like it. :)

A very awesome game known as Dig Dug 2 on the NES! Dialgaofpower
Dig dug 2, a game that got very close to 10 out of 10! Story. Aliens attack. Same old, same old. The graphics were pretty good for the time, despite having no black borders around the entities. There's the usual pump enemies full of air before they explode stuff, but there's also a new mechanic; being able to make part of the Island fall into the sea if you managed to get that part of the island to have a border of cracks in it. The more of the island you get to fall off at once, the more points you get at once! This is also effective for killing monsters and also, this can KILL YOU!
The game Is also pretty difficult, and I don't know why. Maybe it's the fact that it's less simple than the first game? The music I also NEVER a bad thing to listen to. Apparently this is a VERY deep game, as even I don't know what the possible limit is! So, The depth gets a 7.
Final VerdictSo, Final verdict, this game gets a solid 9.7 out of 10! But the fun was soon to end as a new threat had arose: Action 52. The Horrendousness! The Stupidity! This game is so bad, that it's actually 52 bad games in one. The next review will be giant. One of the stupid Action 52. This game shall be laid to waste, If you can even call it a game! Here goes. The plunge into darkness.
--Explosive dude out, and into Action 52--

Dig Dug Sequel? Chubby2211
Hello Vizzed.com. My name is Chubby2211 and I am back with another Retro Game Room review. Now last time I wrote a review it was over Super Mario Bros for the NES. So staying on the NES I am going to review a little less known title for the NES. Known as Dig Dug II Trouble in Paradise, this little known sequel deserves to be talked about. So lets get this review underway.
After the success of the original Dig Dug in arcades all over the United States in 1982, this sequel was released to try and keep the fans of the game flocking to the arcades. However this game completely flipped the formula of the original and cranked up the difficulty. This lead to the Arcade version of this title to being redesigned to be easier for gamers which became more common even getting released into the home console market for the NES. So how does this easier version of a arcade hardship hold up to other NES games.
Graphics: The graphics for this game where pretty good for a port of an Arcade game considering the time in the NES's life it was ported. The enemies are beautifully colored and help create a nice gaming feel. The background colors of the island and its background sky also help create this feel by creating the setting of isolated islands filled of amazing creatures. Even the fault lines that are created by your jackhammer look really good for the NES. That is why the graphics of this amazing port a 7 out of 10. However does the sounds the game produces help create the feeling of being on an island?
Sound: The music really don't feel like what you would find exploring an island. Sounds more like music for a happy adventure game. However the monsters that lurk on this island do the exact opposite. They actually make a sound one would expect to hear from enemies of this era which really help bring the game some life. Also the music that you hear each time you are dropped into a stage just constantly repeats for every level. Same length and Same sounds. Depending on how much or how long you play the game this can get very annoying. However all the other noises made from the other areas of the game help save the game from the repeating song. Which is why the sound of this port get a 5 out of 10. But what go do sounds do if the game doesn't keep you engaged.
Addictiveness and Story : This game does get very old very fast. First off the story of this game is very limited. Dragons and red circles with goggles must die. That's it. No extra detail or story plot. This could have been passed if the levels could have been entertaining but instead they windup providing nothing to the game. The levels in this game always start the same. Same number of enemies, same number of holes to create fault lines in, and same number of lines to start with. The only different in levels come from what you do inside of them which is a bit of a plus. But with the same objective for each level just gets boring over time. This is why the addictiveness and story elements of this game get a 3 out of 10. However these aspects of this game can be overlooked if the game provided some depth to its gameplay.
Depth: The game does have some decent elements like the destroying of islands to destroy enemies. This feature is used very well to help create a feeling of strategy to this arcade sequel. However thats the only kind of depth the game gives to the gamer. Like previously stated the games levels are always the same and so are the enemies and sounds. Unlike other games of this era that had market success ( Super Mario Bros) on this console, it didn't try to create a deep experience with aspects like different enemies, different level types, the use of collectibles, or even different ways to defeat a level. If some of these things where added to the game it may have helped the fans of the original game flock to this port. However the fans of the arcade version had no incentive to leave the quarters in their pockets and stay home and play the game in the comfort of their own home. That is why the depth of the game gets a 4 out of 10. Even without a really deep game how hard was it.
Difficulty: Like most arcade games, this port does increase the difficulty as the game progresses. However before this title was ported from the arcades, it was made easier. Many of the early levels where made easier for the gamers first experiencing the game on a home system but it slowly becomes harder and harder. Its actually one of the better things that Bandai, the company that ported it in North America, did with the game. However the game is not very hard for the first five to six levels which kinda hurts the experience of the game. That is why the difficulty gets a 5 out of 10. It is easy in the beginning but hard at the end which is a decent balance.
So there you have it. A sequel that had a harder time succeeding in arcades but is a fun game to play at home. Its repetitive music may be trouble for gamers but the constant difficulty rise and good graphics can keep a gamer entertained for a couple of hours. Compared to other games of the same year Kid Icarus (9.2) and the true Super Mario Bros 2 (9.8) It takes it place as a good game for any NES library. However it wont be a game that stays with you for a lifetime.

Dig dug:The new adventure dennyjr22
Graphics: 6- Dig dug two's graphics are not the best graphics compared to other games. The graphics are not in the worst possible shape, they just don't look all that vibrant and colorful like some other games are.Sound: 7- The sound is somewhat addicting. However, it is not the best music you have ever herd compared to some other games out there(High cheese factor music).Addictiveness: 8- This is a game that people would want to play again.Plus, Dig Dug is a very popular arcade game.Story: 8- There are monsters invading the islands, and you have to kill them.Using your trusty pump, destroy all the pooka's and fygar's in each of the stages to move on to the next stage.Do not get in the way of the fygars. They will try to kill Dig Dug with their deadly flame breath,Even though it only blows horizontally, fygar's flame breath is still very deadly.Pookas do not attack, but instead try to chase Dig Dug.Do not let him catch you, if he does, you will die instantly. That is how deadly pookas are if they touch Dig Dug.Dislodge three parts of the island to make a bonus vegetable appear. Each of them has a unique points value.Thirty Thousand points will earn you an extra life, you start out with two lives.Depth: 7- Dig Dug two has an enormous amount of levels to beat, but not much to offer. The only other thing that you can do in Dig Dug two, is try to get the bonus vegetable appear by Dislodging three parts of the island.Difficulty: 5- Dig Dug two is not one of the hardest games you will ever play, nor will it be the easiest game you will ever play.As move through the stages, things will get harder in difficulty, as you will find most games have that type of scenario.Overall: 7.1- Above all, this is a pretty decent game though.
