Now, I am going to cause a small problem right now... I really have a high disrespect for todays version of Yu-Gi-Oh. Last thing I recall is that now we have monsters that can be pretty much immune to everything unless you play your cards right, back in the day... everyone had a chance to win, the only way you knew you would lose is if you had nothing to defend yourself with. Nowadays, we have so many cards with so many BS effects... that even the older cards are no longer worth having anymore, everyone wants to be with the XYZ and all those other annoying attribute type of cards.No offense to anyone who likes todays modern cards, but seriously... it's become so much of a hassle, that if you don't have the right cards that perfectly go against the other guy... you will lose without even a chance of hope in your game. I... being the person that I am, still have all my ORIGINAL Yu-Gi-Oh cards, back when it was Yugi, Kaiba, Joey, Tristan, and all the others. For todays version of Yu-Gi-Oh, most of the cards aren't even FLESH & BLOOD, but instead some sort of robot you can put together to make a super robot... wow, aren't you guys original or what. (That's called sarcasm...)Anyways, before I continue to insult todays really screwed up version of Yu-Gi-Oh, let me brings us back to an older time... back when the cards really had a heart, and back when the challenges were both fun and well... challenging. Now it's not even fun for many of us, and it's not even challenging... and if it is challenging, then it's probably because we're not people who have an obsession with robots like todays generation.Graphics- 9/10
Now, for being a PS1 game... the graphics on this game (as well as "Duelist of the Roses") are absolutely amazing. They are so well balanced and so uniquely designed, that even when you aren't trying to win, you might spend most of the time admiring the cards or the playing field. Unlike in "Duelist of the Roses", your playing field doesn't get animated or anything... but you can press the SELECT button to see an animation of how your monster attacks. It's really interesting to see how that most of them have basic attacks, but some of them... their attack is so epic, it makes you want to play the guile them while you watch. No seriously, find a monster with a really awesome attack and play the guile theme... doesn't it just go together or what?Sound- 9/10
Mut like the graphics in this game, the sound is also absolutely thrilling to hear. With the various styles of music, ranging from modern types of music... to ancient types of music (such as Egyptian for the past, or techno for the future)... the music choice is definitely interesting and may cause you to want to turn up the volume a little bit more. Then, adding onto that splice of excellence... you have the unique sounds of the attacking effects, the sounds of two cards LITERALLY fusing together (which looks really cool, and which I spent most of the time trying to see what cards fused with what).Addictiveness- 9/10
I'm not going to beat around the bush for this, but for me... this game couldn't be any more addicting if they tried (unless they combined it with "Duelist of the Roses", then it would be perfect in my opinion). With so much you can do in the game, so many different choices of cards (about 1000 cards to choose from... I think), and so many different enemies to come across... you honestly won't know what you're up against until you finally go fast to face. I have even encountered that one bug loving character, and even in the past... he does love bug cards, but he has a tendency to use FIENDS and DARKS.Story- 9/10
To be honest, I don't entirely remember the story... but I do know that you start out as Yugi wearing the Millenium Puzzle, then somehow you get transported back in time as the Pharaoh, and have to fight to reclaim your kingdom. Then after that, I believe you go back to being in the modern time era where you are fighting in Seto Kaiba's Tournament, and it just keeps on jumping you around. Otherwise, since I don't remember the full story, I do know that the story will definitely keep you on your toes and make you more curious about how this all started.Depth- 9/10
As I have said above, there is so much to do in the game... anything from dueling against a computer, to dueling against a friend (yes you can duel against a friend I think, but you have to be honorable and look away from the screen when it is their turn), and you can even do a campaign or free play. You can spend your entire game going through all the cards and reading about them, watching their animations, and more.Difficulty- 9/10
This game is actually a little more difficult than "Duelist of the Roses" (for PS2 I think...), this one is a little more limited and there aren't as many options when it comes to card outcomes, there also isn't that many cards as there is in "Duelist of the Roses", but it does provide a very good challenge even in the beginning and an almost impossible challenge once you get through towards the end. As you progress it will become harder and harder, then after you beat the game (or while you are playing the game), you can also do free play, which the level of difficulty changes with which enemy you choose to free play against. Most of the time, I chose to free play against Kaishin or whatever his name was... simply because this game removed the whole "sacrifice" and "tribute summon" ideas. You can summon anything at any level that you want, just as long as you have that card... the only cards that cannot be normal summed are fusion and ritual monsters... everything else can be summoned with ease, no matter what level it is. When playing against the hardest enemy on there (for the Egyptian times), he will generally summon monsters with at least 2500 ATK and 2000 DEF.It's a game worth trying and I recommend you play it some day, then after you play it... attempt to play "Duelist of the Roses", you will see the major differences between the two.

I first played this game when I was 12 or 13, or when I was a preteen. I was obsessed with the cards. I had most of the game boy color and advance games, plus I  have Duelist of the Roses for play station 2. Even with the new games that are now out, nothing tops this game in my opinion.  Overall this game has all the qualities that I find addicting. The graphics are very good, with the exception of the animation battle. The soundtrack has to be probably my favorite soundtrack in any video game I've played: all the songs are catchy and sound incredible, especially free duel and the preliminary duels. The story is pretty good too, but the game play is fun. Fusing cards is fun even though I feel the cards you can make are pretty limited, at least in the beginning. Even though I've been stuck during the city duels, I will persist in this game. If you're a yu-gi-oh fan, this game won't disappoint.

About 12 years ago, my dad took me to a gift shop near our place and I saw this game lying on the shelf among small random pieces of junk and I knew that I wanted it. I was a huge Yugioh fan back then so I asked my dad to get it, though of course since it was in a gift shop, it was expensive, about 30 dollars to be exact, and my dad said no. U kept pestering him about it for the next couple of days until he gave me the money and I went and bought the game. I could tell when he got home from work that night that he was annoyed and that he didn't actually think that I would go and get the game, but I did. However, even if I could, I would never turn back time and return it. I was a kid back then, just about 7 years old and all I knew was that I wanted to play that game. Right now, many years later, I am glad that I bought that game and wish that I still had the exactsame copy because it was something that was very special to me, something that I was alwayson and cherished. There were even times when my dad would watch or play and after a while, I began to wonder if he changed his ideas of the game. Over the years, I would play the game over and over, I would almost never stop playing it. It was a very long game that was split into 3 long sections. A duel is quite long, so completing theentire game could have taken more than 50 hours to accomplish, maybe a month or two, but that didn't stop me from right away starting a new game and doing everything over again and again. This game was very special to me, its easily one of my 3 most favorite games of all time,and probably one of my 5 most important possessions of my pre-teen life. GRAPHICS 7/10 As for the graphics of this game, there isn't really much to work with. Sure, there are a few spots where there are some special effects of some sort, but aside from that, there are virtually no graphics. Of course, that's not a bad thing considering the game is a dozen years old and it's based off a card game which literally requires zero effects at all. The graphics of the cards look cool, but of course, those are simply just pictures of things that really exist and when you are talking to somebody, all you see is a picture of the person who you are talking to and a basic background. The game does not require graphics and has no need for them, though I can't give it a good grade if it has no graphics, even if they are not needed. For graphics, I am going to give the game a 7 out of 10. SOUND 10/10 When it comes to sound, this game has some pretty good music. I don't care mush for the individual sounds as much as the amazing music that plays while you battle. Some of the songs are very energetic and work well with the pace of a standard duel. There's this one song that I used to love from the game. When I tried to look it up, I couldn’t get an exact title aside for Free Duel Music. When I was young, I would love when this song played during a duel, when each duel started I would hope that this song would play. When you're 8 years old and you hear the same song over and over a thousand times, it's going to get stuck in your head for decades. There is another great energetic song simply titled Seto Kaiba and one called Priest Seto. I love these songs because they set up a great feel for the drama within the story of the game and these songs are even great to listen to when not playing the game. In my opinion, this has to be one of the best single game soundtracks of all PS1 games and I feel inclined to give it a perfect score. STORY 10/10 Even though the games just about dueling, there's a ton of story to get through. As I mentioned earlier, the game is split into 3 different parts. The first part takes place thousands of years ago in Ancient Eygpyt and has a great storyline as you duel with your starter deck. The second stage takes place in the present during the dueling tournament and the third section takes place again in the past. Most of the story takes place in the duels, but there is a ton of drama in the "In Between Game" I don't really know how to better explain this, but I love a game that has a storyline that runs alongside what you do in the game. It's really just a card game, but winning and losing has such a great affect on what really happens, not fighting or killing like most games with such a story have. Aside from the actual game, there's a really interesting and dramatic story that deserves aother perfect score. ADDICTIVNESS 10/10 Who doesn't love playing such an awesome card game? This isn't like a game where everything takes place on the screen, this game comes 100 percent from an actual card game that was very popular for a long time. The card game was very fun and the game was meant to be just as fun, if not even more fun. One game is never going to be like the last one, one day you might have a perfect hand from the very start and win easily, while another day you might have a difficult time trying to survive. No matter how many super strong cards you have in your deck, there will always be an obstacle and that's what makes the game so much fun. The same outcome is never going to take place multiple times, something unexpected is almost always going to happen and that's why this game is so addicitng and deserves yet another perfect score. DEPTH 10/10 When it comes to depth, there is no shortage in this game. Sure, there are only a handful of people that you can duel, but the possibilities are endless. There are more than 500 cards for you to choose from, many different decks for you to go through and many outcomes. Not to mention that each real life card has a number on the bottom that unlocks that card for purchase in the game. Because of this, the video game is now integrated with the card game and adds even more depth. There is so much to do in this game and because of this, the depth gets yet another perfect score. DIFFICULTY 3 This game is very easy, it's just a card game and nothing more. All you have to do is study the cards and learn how powerful each one is and what each card does. That's all you have to do to succeed in this game. If you have a few bad games and keep losing, all you have to do is keep trying until you get good hands and then by doing this, you will get even better cards to work with. This is the kind of game where most difficulties stem from bad luck, not skill or challenge level. The game is mostly very easy and I am going to give the difficulty level a 3. OVERALL 9.5 This was one of my favorite games and if you have played It before, you should at least have a small understanding as to why I feel this way towards the game. This game was a lot of fun and I would believe that this could be one of the best games in the series. If you are a fan of Yu-gi-oh but have not played this specific game, I suggest that you try it out to see what it's like because maybe one day you will see it the way I do. Ok so I am going to make this review completely honest as to how I feel about this game not just as the game itself but also in relation to other titles that are YuGiOh. In terms of the overall game play, I.E. the duels themselves, while it is not actually the same form as a real YuGiOh duel, it is still a very exciting feature. Bearing in mind the age of this particular game based on the fact that it is one of the very first YuGiOh games the graphics are fairly decent, obviously not as compared to games today. The musical sound track to this game is simply wonderful and I don't feel as though another YuGiOh game has been able to match it with the exception of maybe The Duelist Of The Roses which also has an exquisite soundtrack. This game is by far one of the most addicting games I have ever played and though I have played a number of YuGiOh and other such games throughout my life I have to say that I find myself going back to this game far more than any other game I have ever played, Even when you beat it there is still incentive to keep playing and try to get better cards, something I believe to be lacking in the newer YuGiOh games. Now lets talk about the story for a moment. The story in YuGiOh: Forbidden Memories is positively captivating, from the beginning of the first true story point to very end of the game it throws twists and turns as to what may happen. The only real problem is that there are certain story parts that are easy to miss because you have to do certain things at certain times in order to catch them. The game is not as long as it could be in my opinion, I really feel like they could have added more to it in terms of base opponents for you to face throughout the story, however it does make up for this issue in that in order to actually move through the later parts of the game you will need to go back to people you have already defeated and beat them a few more times in order to get better cards or you will likely not progress to the end of the game. Now this particular feature could easily be viewed as a down side, however when you consider the length of the base game it really should be looked at as more of an upside. The difficulty in this game ranges from way too easy to near impossible as you make your way deeper into the game. In the beginning every opponent is very simple, but if you don't actively work to strengthen your deck you will quickly get left behind in the games pace for difficulty. By the end of the game you need to have a superb deck and a lot of luck just to actually beat the last boss which is a completely different kind of a pain in the butt. All in all I would say this is one of the best YuGiOh games I have ever played and has given me hours upon hours of enjoyment,

The Classic Card Game Shoved into a Disc   Joe Ma-Ma
I don't really like the amine of this game, but I did like the card game. This is the perfect option if you're like me and you like the card game.  The story is pretty simple, save the world by playing a card game. The graphics aren't really that impressive, but I don't care about the graphics unless it hurts your eyes or make you go blind. The game is long and you can duel who you beaten before again and this adds more to the game.When you do duel them again you get more points and a extra card they give you so it's a win-win. I can't play this game anymore sadly because my PlayStation 2 is broken and won't play the game, I would play the game if my PlayStation 2 wasn't broken. The sounds of the game are good too, it surely doesn't make you want to gnaw your ears off. One thing I liked about is that you can transfer the cards you have in real life into the game if you have enough points to spend, this helped me with tons of hard bosses. I also liked if you have two memory cards you can challenge your friends into a duel. The thing that confused me though is what you combine or not, if you can't combine some of the cards and you try too, you lose both of the cards. That really does get on my nerves, especially when I accidentally try to combine them. The game is hard too, if you don't have good cards you're going to have a tough time beating the bosses.  There's this level that has a choice of some bosses that are really hard at one point of the game, not saying when because I don't want to have spoilers on here and make people angry. The card I think is cheap in this game is the black hole, I can't tell how many times I was toast because someone uses a black hole on my only hope. Overall this game is great, good music, decent graphics, sample story and not filled with scenes you can't skip, The game offers tons of replay value, you can challenge your friends as long as he/she has another memory card, the game is hard in a fair way (besides the black hole card). I recommend it to anyone who likes the Yu-Gi-Oh amine or the card game. If you have at home and didn't touch it, dust it off and start playing it now. If you hate this game and don't agree with and want my arms ripped off than that's your opinion and you need to get on with your life, and I'm not trying to offend you either. If you traded it with someone than trade for it back and play it. I'm not saying you have to do this just recommending that you do that because this game is that good of a game.

Yu-Gi-Oh Forbidden Memories   RetroidGameoid
The very first TCG game I played, Yu-Gi-Oh Forbidden Memories holds a special place in my heart. With a very nice soundtrack, a cast of original characters, and an obnoxiously easy way to play the game, this has always been one of my favorites. Although not designed for people who actually know how to play Yu-Gi-Oh, it still holds a memento of satisfaction.In the start of the game, you play as the spirit that lives within the Millennium Puzzle, however, you don't start out in the puzzle. As you progress into the game, you uncover some of the past when Yu-Gi-Oh first began, starting in the times of ancient Egypt. From here, you move into the "future", during the time of Yugi, Joey, and the rest of the original Yu-Gi-Oh characters. While in this world, you go through a premonition/flashback kind of phase.Well, anyways, overall, this is a very amusing game, but it lacks a certain sense of flare for those whom don't enjoy the old school PS1.
