Street Fighter Alpha: Warriors' Dreams (Euro 950727) Review by: SuperCrash64 - 9.7/10

The original start to a fix up in sf2
Time to do another game review here we have street fighter alpha, not 2, not 3, but The very first game, This game is one of the best street fighter games to date, It has a very nice style and Feels really nice, How does the game turn out in general? Let's find out.

Game history, background, plot & storyline etc: Starting Out as a classic fighting game, and since other fighting games were not doing very well at the time, or having trouble, The Original Street fighter 2, Helped revised and fix up fighting games, Cap com Saw the success of their wonderful fighter doing so well in the arcades, They stepped it up from time to time, With various small upgrades, But each of them helped improved their classic 2d wonder, into more fast speed, more ways to pull off combos, and even various special powerful attacks, Cap com and some fans Must have saw the plot, and wondered about some parts, because Cap com had included some gaps in some street fighter 2 endings, that had characters not seen or have appeared in any street fighter game, So thus the Street fighter alpha series, was born to clean up some of the gaps and plots from various endings, and in general to make a bit of cross overs with other characters, Like guy from final fight. The Story lines are all pretty cool, Each Character has a path and a rival that they must fight and conquer, the rival of this game is generally known as the last battle and boss of the game, If I could tell more about the story, I would, but unfortunately reviewing rules come first, so I cannot reveal the various path and rival Story lines, but for the least I can do is give it a rating, storyline rating eight out of ten.

Graphics: When you see Street fighter games, and even including the not so well rated first game, You see A nice clean style, with a various cartoonist feel to the graphics. Street fighter alpha Intends To have a similar look, but Yet the Sprites Look much more neater smoothed out and less pixelated, The graphics style of the street fighter alpha, To me have a similar feel to the later on released "Super street fighter 2 turbo hd remix" In some aspects and looks. The Main characters of this game Look very neatly aged and well respected upon the looks and aspects, of their style, Ryu and Ken for example Have a lot of Neat cartoonist, well smooth and clean style, This feel of the graphics just look breath taking, Mainly How much of the improvements and looks that the characters have, Nuff said for the sprite section of the game. (Ken Stage: I Really like how much characters are in the background, As if they are having a nice party while enjoying a good street fight battle, That stage alone looks pretty nice, The color is very vibrant and background characters kind of have a detail as if they are some kind of dj playing the themes, or just dancing alone)

(Ryu Stage: Pretty much How I can describe this part of the stage, It looks like a mini market, with a lot of shops, and You fighting on the bare streets, and kind of like in real life they have signs and symbols, with each market having a name, and I even recall that stage having a stop light or stop sign somewhere in it, some of the background characters in that stage, looks like a lady who had dropped her things, during walking out of a store somewhere in the stage, and she's doing a animation to pick them up, the background character does look a bit pixelated and somewhat blurry, but that character and background is still noticeable and pretty good compared to normal 2d standards, this just goes to show how well Cap com does their designs and other stuff etc)

(Rose Stage: Now this kind of looks like a junkyard or some kind of place where a gangster would fight you at, It basically looks like a backstage area, the walls have a nice good color on them, that blinds in with the stage pretty well, again some stuff are pretty darn pixelated, Now in the background characters: There are 2 cats chasing one another over and over again, one of them is black and white, They constantly chasing one another is pretty nice and cute to look at, XD. As for the main background it looks pretty good and fits rose very well)

(Charlie Stage: the dead brother of guile poor dude :'(, Anyways Here we go. Charlie stage Looks like another one of those stages, were it's basically kind of like a backyard brawl, Reasons because of the looks and feel of the stage, the green pattern on the flooring and the in general the towns and area's definitely just defines this place, to look like a backyard brawl stage, background characters: there are a lot of people in the background, cheering you or the winner of the fight on, there is even pimps or other characters that throw Money at you once you win,(now if you picked it up that'd be awesome and funny to see, XD) the animation of the characters in the background look freighting with so many things to see, As if the crowd are filled up with anticipation to see whom is the victor of this match. Nuff said for Charlie's stage)

(Sagat Stage: Now one thing That is a great resemblance to make this game have a lot of classic feel in comparison to the original street fighter 2, if you've seen sagat's stage, You'll be sure to have recognize the details within that area, Now the stage is changed somewhat from it's original counterparts, Like the background color Is changed to a dark night sky, instead of sky daylight color, like the original sf2 had it, The stage has still some original counterparts, and the background is loaded with classical detail, the background not only features The temple or statue lady that the original sf2 had, but if you look real closely, you can spot Ryu's old sf2 stage, It doesn't look that bad, And it's not all that hard to spot)

(Chun Li Stage: This is basically a simple looking stage, to Me this stage kind of looks like one of those stages, were you are in middle of a road, or something, The stage doesn't have nothing real special about it, in other words.. Yea it kind of looks pretty plan and simple.)

(Sodom stage: Something I've noticed in this game and the others, Is in the original and alpha 2 Sodom stage is a parking lot or either a stage with a basic desert or somewhere it has some kind of Vehicle or big truck, other besides that the stage looks pretty nice, Just the way I'd kind of expect it to be, I do however like the color of the vehicle and in general the stage just really happens to look fairly epic, because it matches the background nice as usual and it fits Sodom and his character look and feel, this stage is fine nonetheless.)

(Now for the rest of the characters, I'm not gonna say much about their stages, because most of the other character stages"Aka" the new characters Have some stages, that are just Palette swaps used in the background color, nothing else changed besides that.) Overall graphics rating ten out of ten

Sound: The sound Is really great and crystal clear, You have a lot of classic Sounds Like"hadoken" and the other weird and natural sounds, Like chun Li doing her voice when kicking with her legs, and in general pretty classic stuff. Now each of the characters Have a lot of new voice overs, and that is not surprising considering Cap com managed to pull that off in some newer & older street fighter games, Now as for the soundtrack, It sounds... Amazing!, It's a classical remix of the soundtrack or some theme's that The Original Sf2 used, even though Cap com has done stuff like this many times before, Some songs really have much more of a greater bass and guitar sound, Just listen to sagat's stage, You'll hear and nice and new arranged theme, It sounds so wonderful, and neatly composed. There are even remixed theme's from other games, "Aka" final fight, The metro city Slums theme, Which is now guy's theme, Got a really freaking sweet remix, It has more of a sf2 feel to theme, then it's original dark sounding bass and evil destruction theme, It just sounds more hop and just more kick butt. Sound rating overall I have to give a ten out of ten.

Addictiveness: Well known for having so many Combo's That fit along with special power up attacks, And knocking out and owning enemies, along with so many neat and creative Story lines, How can Street fighter alpha"Aka" the very first game not be addicting, I find the game mainly addicting because the game play is so neat fun and fresh, and that's because of the new combo system, It works so freaking fast and smooth. Addictiveness rating eight out of ten.

Depth: This game, Like a lot of other fighting games, intends on being one of those games, that is a very short game, This game's depth in general just offers arcade/story mode, And there are only about 7 or 8 fights to deal with if I can recall correctly, Anyways, The game can be beaten pretty quickly, if you use a simple character, or know a lot of moves, and trust me, Street fighter 2 or the franchise in general has a lot of simple characters, so this can be beaten probably within a short time period., depth rating six out of ten,

Difficulty: Like a lot of Other fighting games, This one has no expectation, because it has, that style of letting you win for a short period and tries to punish you later on, I'd naturally come across getting beaten once, twice, or without a single loss at some points in this game, So This game has a fairly nice and well balanced difficulty setting, Difficulty rating five out of ten

overall In total to all of this, This is one heck of a kick butt fighter!. Overall 9.8 rating.

I hope you enjoyed this review, And please I'd like some feedback, as I am looking to still find ways to improve my reviews.
