Spyro Reignited Trilogy Review by: RavusRat - 9/10

Muffin Reviews Spyro Reignited Trilogy
Hello and welcome to my Review of Spyro Reignited Trilogy. I hope you enjoy it. (Insert this is review number blah blah blah here)

Spyro reignited trilogy is a remaster of the original Trilogy of games on the PlayStation 1. It is a faithful remake, by that I mean they haven't changed the way the game plays or level layouts. They have just bought the game into this generation of console.

Spyro is a purple young dragon that finds himself in 3 different adventures in this trilogy, whether it's freeing the elder dragons from crystal from Gnasty Gnorc, Saving Avalar from Ripto's clutches, or stopping a maniacal Sorceress who wants to kill all dragons and extend her rule indefinitely. He'll be collecting gems, keys, eggs and orbs on his adventures.. So get ready for a flaming time.

Graphics
The graphics for the games have been greatly improved, which honestly is to be expected from 20 years of advancement in gaming. The games haven't lost anything from transition to ps1 to ps4. The increased detail of the worlds makes them feel more magical than ever before. Whilst remaining loyal to the design of the originals.

Sound
The sound design for the game is great. They even made a new soundtrack for the games, but for those who want a nostalgia trip the original soundtracks for the ps1 games are available to use in game as well. To answer the question which one is better? I have no idea honestly, One doesn't stand above the other.. To me honestly they're both great to listen to casually.

Addictiveness
This game can be rather addictive if your a completionist. However if you played the original 3 games to completion it won't take you that long to complete all 3 games. It took me 4 days of casual game play to fully complete all 3 games. Now I assume that most players won't beat them that fast. The point is that once I beat all 3 games fully I haven't played the game again.  So essentially what I'm trying to say here is that if you are new to the games it might take you a while to actually beat all the games fully. And if your an experienced player it wont take long at all, especially considering the control hasn't changed much if at all.

Story
The stories in the games are alright, They're by no mean masterpieces but they fair well for your average 3D platformer collect-a-thon honestly. In all 3 of his adventures you will be trying to stop the reign of 3 "not very nice creatures" , I will basically recap the games stories in a few sentences

Spyro 1.
Dragons do tv interview, are mean to Gnasty Gnorc, he gets revenge by turning the dragons into crystal, Spyro is too smol. Spyro frees the dragons... and the dragons decide to not learn anything from this experience morally.
Spyro 2.
Spyro tries to go on holiday.. Gets warped to a different world thanks to nutty professor. Is tasked with getting rid of annoying Horned Lizard thing names Ripto, Need to gather orbs to get home, Every single character in the game then proceeds to basically be as unhelpful as possible making spyro do mundane things for orbs instead of just giving them him.. Except for Elara the fawn. Who points you in the general direction of mundane things to do.
Spyro 3
Sneaky Rabbit and friends steal dragon eggs, through the power of digging holes.. Only spyro and hunter are smol enough to fit down holes. Spyro then pays the bail of a kangaroo, yeti, penguin and monkey. Whilst a fat bear enjoys making a short lived fortune. You find out that sorceress stole eggs to make sure magic doesn't go away, but was the one who banished dragons in the first place... She slowly turns more evil whilst Rabbit decides "oh shes evil" and helps you instead.. Hunter decides to be as unhelpful as last time. But gets the girl...  Meanwhile Spyro gets a new bear rug and his gems back.

Depth
There is and isn't a lot of depth to the game. Which I understand is a stupid statement but hear me out okay? There are various challenges on the way to getting the current games needed collectible. Spyro 1 is pretty basic and doesn't offer much except for insane supercharge jumps and flight levels. Spyro 2 and 3 have lots of little challenges that go from skateboarding to boxing to ice hockey.. To slowly going insane as no creature on either of these worlds can actually go the logical route from one place to another, as they blame you for the 14th time because they ran into a indestructible rock golems club. However once you beat all the different challenges there is no real reason to play the games again.. Well not for a while at least. So the game has depth. But not replayability.

Difficulty.
I encountered precisely one issue of difficulty when it came to completing all three of these games and ironically it was only difficult because I played the originals. The bosses in spyro 2 are slightly different to how they behave in the original which means if you use the same tactic as the old game on the boss fight... well you're gonna have a bad time. Because the boss (I believe it was gulp specifically) actually went from a fight of charging around the outside of the arena.. To wait for it... actually having to dodge his attacks..  There are also a few supercharge jumps that might irritate a few new players in the first game as well but honestly they're not that difficult at all. The games are very easy essentially.

Final Thoughts
I would actually recommend this game/games. You basically get three collect-a-thons for the price of one. I feel you will like it if you didn't grow up with spyro or if you did grow up with spyro. With both parties just enjoying the design and simplicity of the games. Honestly for me when it comes to the original 3 spyro games there's not a lot to hate about them. And now that they have been remastered.. Well I see no reason to not suggest them to old and new audiences.
Also this may be off topic and silly but I actually rather like the ps4 themes that came with the game... sssh...
