BEST GAME EVER   [Operator] Saint
This was the first Megaman "Battle Network" game I ever played, and after playing this edition, I blatantly refused to even bother trying any other versions made previously or after this version, such as Battle networks 1,2, 4, 5 , 6 etc. Actually, I did eventually take a chance on a couple of other versions and just could not force myself through even the first chapters of them. Maybe it would be different if I had played another version first and fell in love with that version first instead of the 3rd version, but part of me feels like this is quite likely not true and that I would have eventually come across the third version anyways and still loved it more than the others regardless. My favorite things about this game are absolutely the customization features and style changes that allow such a wide variety of custom navi's to experiment with using different styles, different enhancement programs for different stats and aspects in the navi customizer, a wide variety of different chips and program advances, and just the general game play mechanics overall.
I have spent so much time dedicated to very in-depth and detailed research of creating the absolute BEST combinations of chips into my folder for specific purposes, my favorite combinations and program advances, my favorite custom style and elemental influence, specific navi customizer programs, the whole nine yards. I generally prefer the Wood-Shield style because of it's generic ability to recover health on grass panels, along with the "Reflect" ability unlocked when the style is maxed out at level 4, which is a nice alternative replacement to using the AntiDmg chips in the folder, although they are also still quite useful when combined with AntiNavi and Muramasa to create the BodyGrd Program Advance, which is one of my all-time favorites among a few others such as the MstrStyl, 500Barr, ElemSwrd, and LifeSwrd P.A.'s.

The storyline is immersive and exciting, dramatic at times although entertaining nonetheless, and, YES, VERY ADDICTIVE. This is the kind of game that has a way of instilling a great amount of nostalgia into it's players and will have them favoriting this game and very possibly coming back to it over and over throughout the years, sharing it with friends and loved ones, passing it on to younger generations, and absolutely supporting and appreciating the full entirety of it's greatness.
I definitely enjoy the reality of the fact that the antagonists of the story go through so many ups and downs but are always dedicated to resolving any issue, never backing down or running away or hiding from it, and always there for one another no matter what. The game definitely generates many amazing positive character traits for the younger generations to learn from, and gives and all-around good feel to it's players and fan-base. It offers so much to do so that there is always some sense of a challenge, a new goal to achieve, a "Next Level" to ascend to, accomplishments to rise up and claim, such an expansive world to explore, so much character interaction with other people throughout the game, and always something new to learn or discover around every corner.
This is the kind of game that grows on you and creates or manifests a true sense of heroism in the actual heart of the player, making them feel like they truly are the actual hero and operator behind it all, even though the game depicts that you are only controlling LAN, the real hero who controls Megaman as HIS Navi. With this said, Yes I would LOVE to see a remake of this exact same game that actually cuts out the middle-man so to speak, making the PLAYER the actual operator of Megaman, or maybe even the possibility of being able to create and design their own custom navi, it's armor/appearance design, create their own custom Navi Name for them and everything but still somehow manage to follow the same storyline to an extent, so that the player feels even more emerged into the game as if they are actually part of it all.
There is always something going on over briefly spaced out periods of time allowing a nice little break from the action, giving the players an opportunity to explore and train and practice, customize thier navi and their battle folders in new and exciting ways, and take a breather before jumping headfirst into the next important "Mission" of the game's story line, but it keep s a constant and consistent pace that keeps things exciting and builds anticipation and enthusiasm in a way that keeps a new player wondering, "What can possibly happen next?".
I absolutely love the idea of the JOBS BBS where the player can take on their own personal missions to complete for other people, gaining them renown within the in-game community in a way, and earning various rewards for completion of each job. It has a vibe of voluntarily responsibility and self-discipline that manifests these same types of character traits in the player to a certain degree, almost in an attempt to actually influence it's players to learn from this game how to be a "Good person" and that is always absolutely cherished, especially opposed to games that provide such negative influences to it's players and especially in younger generations.
I could think of a small handful of very minor changes or adaptations that could make this game slightly "different", but I couldn't possibly say it would honestly make the game any "better" than it already is, almost like it really couldn't possibly get any "better" than this. Of course, everyone has their own opinions and views and awesome creative ideas for how to do things "different;y", and that is okay, even if everyone does not always agree that one person's ideas could be deemed to be "better" than another person's.
In conclusion I would have to absolutely give this game an overall rating of 9/10 in my own personal opinion, but only because I too have my own ideas for a few minor changes that would possibly make the game a little more immersive and entertaining in various aspects to my own desire or to my own liking, which may not necessarily be the same case for all people who enjoy this game, and I am okay with that because everyone is different. Still, this game will FOREVER be one of my absolute favorites for this system, and will always play a major role in my life as helping to shape and mold the character traits that I am fond of within myself to this day. I greatly appreciate the creation, development, and release of this game.

Great contribution to the MMBN series   supernerd117
Hi supernerd117 here and here's my review of Megaman Battle Network 3: Blue Version.
Like Darkpower, this was my very first Mega Man game.  I picked this game up when it was on sale at Sam's Club.  I have since lost the game, but remember the good times I had playing this game, and have a clearer picture now of how good it really was.  Compared to the two previous games in the series, everything is bigger, better, and more organized.  The map system is clear, and there's a good bit of exploration to be had, but more about that later.
Story:
Dr. Wily intends seeks four Tetracodes to awaken the original embodiment of the internet, Alpha.  Will he succeed?  Or will Lan and Megaman stop him once again?  There's not much more to it than that.
Graphics:
Better than Megaman Battle Network, and little better than Megaman Battle Network 2.  The environments and sprites now have more detail, making this a bit more solid package.  Battle animations are simple, yet fantastic, and will keep you going for an S rank as you battle Navis or viruses.
Gameplay:
The style change system from Megaman Battle Network 2 has been kept and refined.  Now, there are two special battlechips for each elemental style change (fire, water, electric, wood), and several different types for each element (such as Team, which allows extra Navi chips).  This will keep fans of the game trying with different battlechip customizations to see what style they'll get.
The most significant addition is the Navi Customizer, and it's sure a breath of fresh air to the series.  Each bonus you want to give Megaman takes up a certain amount of space in a grid.  Run out of space, and you can't install any more bonuses in Megaman.  You can do this as often as you like, though, trying with different configurations to find the best way to take on a boss or a section of the game.  However, a set of rules must be followed.  Place a certain color next to a block of the same color, or place a block where it shouldn't be, and you will likely end up with a bug.  These bugs can range from nasty (lose HP fast) to excellent (buster charges more quickly).  It's rewarding to try and get a bug, just to see what it does.  Unfortunately, Capcom never fully capitalized on this system.  I would have liked to see more battlechips that work according to the type of bug you have.
Sound:
The best music in the series so far.  It was so good, that I would occasionally put my ear to my GBA SP when the volume was low just to hear the opening tune, or some battle tunes.  It's been a good while since I've played the game, but I can still vividly hear the tunes in my head, an I remember them fondly.
Addictiveness/Depth:
There is so much to do here.  Hundreds of battlechips have been added to the mix, in standard, mega, and giga class.  Battlechips work together in many different ways, and new program advances have been added.  Add the Navi Customizer, plenty of sidequests, and a long aftergame, and you'll find some of the best replay value in a game anywhere.
Difficulty:
This isn't quite as hard as MMBN2 because of the Navi Customizer, in my opinion.  However, the bosses and enemies are so well designed, that the game hasn't been dumbed down, either.
Overall:
Megaman Battle Network 3 is considered by many fans to be the best in the series, and it's not too hard to see why.  This one is definitely worth picking up, but try to find a friend with White Version, as well, so that you can obtain battlechips from both games.

Megaman Battle Network Review 3   Zircron Swift
I love this game. It was the first Megaman game I played. This is were it all started for me. I didn't even know about the NES games back then. It's not exactly a spin-off of the NES games, but more like an alternate version, much like the Megaman X series. It takes the classic side-scrolling shooter action RPG-ish platforming-ish game, and turns it into a full RPG game, but with real-time fighting, not turn-based like Golden Sun. This worked out really well. And in true Megaman fashion, they made several games of it. This is one of my favorite games of all time. Lets have a look.
You play as two different characters in this game, Lan, and Megaman. Megaman is what's called a Navi (not the fairy) that lives in a PET (PErsonal Terminal). A PET is a device that practically everybody has. Think of it as a computer you can take with you, and it has somebody in it to be your companion. You can "jack-in" into pretty much any electronic piece of equipment there is, providing it has a jack-in port. Lan and Megaman live in a place called "ACDC". Yep, just like the band, only that has a lightening strike in the middle. Oh, and there's this evil corporation called the "WWW" which plans to take out the cybernetic world. Why? Must have something to do with everyone is dependent on machines, and taking out the internet would cause chaos. Something along those lines.
And guess who's the head of WWW. That's right, Dr. Wily is behide it all. At least he was, before his very timely death at the end of the second game. Although he was suppose to die at the end of the first game, but apparently Dr. Wily isn't very good at dying. Maybe he's dead for sure (although pretty early in the game you'll see who's behind it). So, the year in 200X (not 20XX, like in the NES games), and everything in connected. But internet viruses and Netcrime have been on the increase. Well, that's how it starts out. Then it cuts to a field-trip to a Virus lab were the students are learning how to bust viruses. Didn't they learn how to do that in the first two games? Well it's good for new players. I can't say much about the story line, but the WWW are collecting something and they're up to no good. You also join this thing called the "N1 Grand Prix", a net battling tournament.
Where do I begin with the game play? Lets start off with Lan, shall we? When your Lan (in the real world), you do most of the RPG stuff. You talk to people for general hints and rumors, trade some chips with people, getting to the right place etc. You can even net battle some of the main characters. Such as Dex and his Gutsman. Yeah, even though he was a foe in the first Megaman game, he's your ally here. In fact, there are robot master cameos in this game (and the other games as well) from the NES games. Such as Flashman and Bubbleman. Yeah, Bubbleman's in it. It's quite funny accurately. This series had different personalities of Dr. Wily than the one of the NES games (which reminds me, if you were wondering, Lans grand-father is the icon of Dr. Light). Here, Dr. Wily is the sort of "all-out, winner takes all" guy, and he's not a wimp like the other Dr. Wily. In the NES, Dr. Wily is a "plotting and scheming, all-talk" kind of guy until he has no line of defense left, and then he begs forgiveness from Megaman. I prefer this "battle network" Dr. Wily. He's what I imagine when I see his castle.
You can also go to Higsby's to buy chips. No, not the chips you put salt on, I'm talking battle chips. These are used in battles. Each chip has a code, labeled A-Z, with a bonus code *. This is a trump. What does that mean? You can only select five chips at a time, but you can only pick chips that are either the same type, or the same code. For example, you can pick a Cannon (A) and a Cannon (B), or you can pick a Cannon (A) or a Anubis (A). Simple and easy to get used to. You can even find things called Program Advances (also known as a P.A.), if you use the right combination of chips. Here's an example. Cannon (A) Cannon (B) Cannon (C). This is the simplest one to work out, but there are more complex ones. Half the fun is working out what chips make P.As, the other half is seeing what happens. There are also different classes of chips. There are "Regular chips" (grey), "Mega Chips" (blue) and "Giga Chips" (pink). Mega chips contain mainly Navi Chips, and Giga Chips are very powerful. So much so, you can only have one in your folder at a time. Oh, a folder is where you keep your chips. You can keep four of the same type of regular chips, one of the same type of Mega chips, as well a five mega chips, and only one type of Giga chip (even though there only exists one copy on one giga chip), as well as only one giga chip.
You start off with simple chips, but you later find better versions of that chip, and better chips all round. My favorite is Anti damage (antidmg, as it's called in the game). This chip is amazing for def. When you get hit after using the chip, you dodge the attack and throw a shrunken at that virus. When you get this chip, don't be afraid to abuse it. Those are chips. Now lets talk about the game play of Megaman. You need to jack-in to play as him. You run around, collecting data, getting into random battles, and solving puzzles. The battles themselves are pretty epic. You stand on a 3x3 grid, facing the virus who is also, on a 3x3 grid. You select your chips (or you can "add" them, which allows you to have a higher selection of chips on the next turn, but you can't use the "added" chips), and you use them to kill the viruses. You can also use your Mega-Buster (not Plasma Cannon). Dealing a small amount of damage. You can charge your buster up, to deal x10 times the damage of your uncharged buster. Good in a pinch.
At a certain point in the game, you'll get a "style" for Megaman. Each style has an element (water, fire, wood and electric). This gives you an edge in battle. There are several styles, the Guts style, Shield style, bug style, the list goes on. You get a style depending on your game play. Weather you use mainly your mega-buster, or use mainly navi chips, you'll get a style to improve those aspects of game play. Some are only for blue and some are only for white. You also get to program Megaman, give him more power for his mega-buster or faster firing speed. There are lots of programs. you can program his unique to you.
The music is pretty good. The music in the real world is very relaxed, unless there is a WWW attack going on, then the music turns urgent. The music during the boss battles are pretty epic. It adds to the battles. The music at the title screen is cool. Just listen to it before you press "Start". It's worth a listen. The graphics are very well done. The art work of all the characters make them what they are. There are also
plenty of side-quests for you to do. The Job List, virus raising, chip trading, these will add to the game and reward to for doing them. Even
after you complete the game, there is lots to do. Chips to collect, more areas to explore, and more bosses to defeat. It truely rewards those
who love to explore the game.
Overall I give this game 9.4/10 This game is the finest in the Battle Network series. The music and graphics work together to add to the game, but the game play really make this game what it is. this game has the difficulty balance just right, but I put it as a 10 because a certain someone upgraded their aura and attacks, making a mean, merciless killing navi. Can you guess who it is? You'll have to find out after you complete the game. The story might be simple and straight forward, but can have a powerful effect on you. I love the ending, and will often beat the last boss just to see it. Still gets me a little choked. It's amust play for RPG Megaman loving fans.
Darkpower508 Jack-out.

Megaman Battle Network Blue Version   mysticmann
Review - MegaMan Battle Network  Blue Version
And one more game of the Battle Network series this time has two versions and some interesting changes.
The story
Lan and MegaMan defeated the WWW and netmafia Gospel but their lives did not change much until they were invited to a NetBattle tournament, called N1 Grand Prix and sponsored by network television.
While participating in the pre-you eliminate the WWW comes back to active attacking strategic points of the city. At first, Lan and Mega are involved unwittingly but after a first meeting they make it possible to prevent the progress of the organization, but they have absolutely no idea of the general plan.
Along with the tournament and the WWW, several things are always happening and there is a greater focus on Lan's friends, with greater emphasis on Dex and more about Chaud. There is a greater use of some characters who have not had as important appearances in the second as the higsby and Ms. Mari and were put to good use. Other known faces make a short participation in the tournament.
There are new characters and some are very important to the story. One of them came directly from classic games from Nintendo 8-Bit and as he had a strong role in the game where he appeared in this is also vital in history. Another character that appeals to the emotional side of the player, and is more effective if the person knows or end the first game.
A pleasant surprise was the development of Lan. It is visible and the maturity he shows many facets throughout history. Of course, remains the same Lan ever, but this time it shows a complexity slightly higher than before.
And the spoilers?
At this point you have played the first may be critical. What happens in the last part against Wily is mentioned all the time from the middle of the game and is of great importance. It is easy to get information on the internet and it does not have the anime, but it is much more interesting to play.
The second game is less mentioned, the only important part summed up in one scene and a final stretch. Could have used a little more promise that Lan did, but perhaps because of the circumstances they failed to or decided to leave for another occasion.
There are several good dramatic moments, but few are based on earlier. One of the most dramatic is undoubtedly a direct continuation of the first, gives notice that gave some explanations to Lan out of games and serves as a mini-recap.
The game
Changes in the second game continue. There is still a memory limitation for the chips, just that they were divided into normal chips, Mega and Giga chips chips. Mega are rare and Navi and there is a limitation on how many can be used. Ditto to Giga, who are much more rare and achieved under certain conditions.
The styles remain and are 4 elements plus a special and they have different properties that change depending on the way the player fights. For example, if the Mega focus on the use of chips in general it will have Custom style where you can choose from more chips per turn, if the defense there is the shield style in which you start with a barrier at the beginning of the shift and the buster can function as a shield. And of course the style elements also alter the interaction with the field, as the fire does not take damage from lava and water do not slip on the ice. There are countless combinations but can only keep one stroke at a time and is offered the chance to change only after a certain number of battles.
Mega one of the improvements is the customizer where it carries extra programs in memory with different functions ranging from extra HP, not be affected by panels or avoid random battles against weak enemies to name a few. There are also programs required to advance in the story to be equipped. The programs have a block form and have to be housed in the limited space and obey certain rules or there may be bugs with various effects during battle.
After a moment Lan can acquire tools to hack the system to have no problem with these bugs or compress the size of the blocks and have even more programs. It may sound complicated, but it's much simpler than it seems.
The navigation through the virtual world is much easier. Now to go between the areas there is a virtual meter, shortcuts to some places and to get Squares in the way is marked with a different color, it is a little more difficult to get lost. There are exceptions such as Undernet and systems the base of the WWW, but does some logic. This time the chapter roam throughout the network was not as annoying, but the enemies were more difficult. The part of the tournament is also like a mini boss-rush during normal game and was properly seated.
The specific networks remain interesting, with some puzzle or logic puzzles that ask even if you think a little and a little exploration coupled with good memory.
Graphs
Capcom always caprichou in graphics. This time the seats are more urban and a little less varied but considering the story is not a negative point. There are several small details, interests and references everywhere. The networks still has more varied and some animations and further setting elements. There are more and more chips enemies, as expected. Long re-use, but it is not surprising (it's Capcom).
This time they decided to change the menus of MegaMan and even took the time to change the Pet icon, but nothing yet to correct MegaMan's eye color that were to be green and not blue like the images in-game.
There are two places that draw attention: one is the Hades Island, part of the tournament. The characterization of both the real world and the virtual can spend a feeling of tension and mystery, and the music even more help.
Another place is the basis of WWW. Those who know a little of the classic series will love to see how adapted the strength of Wily for this release.
Sound
One thing that has always been legal in MMBN series is that in addition to great music also know how to make good use of silence to create tension, which is very efficient. But the music of "hurry up" is extremely annoying. Moreover, the same sounds of the above are used here.
Two versions?
Following the fashion there are two versions to this game: Blue and White. Only a few decorative differences as posters on the wall and level things. There are only a few Giga single chips, but are not required to complete the game.
The only thing that changes is that in an advanced point in the game are different bosses: the Blue version has BowlMan.EXE and White has MistMan.EXE but none is relevant to the story.
Conclusion
MegaMan Battle Network 3 is a very enjoyable game. There are no dull moments, many things to explore and find besides a great story. The dialogues were well-written and they paid a lot of attention both in tying the story properly, to clarify some points and connecting the previous games while expanding or improving without using retcons. The characters are more "alive" and there is a very strong load this game, the end is eye-catching.
The system is great and there is much to discover with a customization part that actually adapts to the player and there is a greater balance it difficult to appeal. The post-game extras are nothing new, but this time were better utilized. It is a highly recommended game.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
