Walt Disney's Jungle Book Rhythm n' Groove Review by: Itachi_4_ever - 9.5/10

Jungle Book Rhythm n' Groove
Overall 9.5/10

If you like Disney and rhythm games, this is the game for you! Although only two-three songs in the game are the same as in the movie, the other songs are really fun as well, and you can get addicted to them fairly quickly. The main mode is Story mode, and you can choose to play alone or in team. The single mode of this game is excellent if you've got some time to kill and don't know what else to do. It takes a bit longer than half an hour to go through it. It's not too hard, but not to easy either. It all depends on the difficulty level you choose. If you're older than 12, I suggest you start with Normal and just skip easy, because it will be far too easy for anyone who has reasonable reflexes.

Graphics 7/10

Honestly, if you're the kind of person that plays games for the graphics, this game isn't for you. You definitely don't play this game for the graphics you're presented with. Although the cut scenes that are shown are a different story. But during the games, the graphics are sadly not so good. Personally it doesn't bother me, because I like the gameplay and songs a lot, but in comparison to a lot of other ps1 games, it's definitely not on par. The cut scenes however are very nice to watch and the game art (loading screens etc) are of that same quality. Which is why I've decided to score this a 7.

Sound 10/10

For me the sound deserves full marks without a doubt. The songs are fun and groovy (like the title of the game implies), there's quite a bit of variety to them too and the lyrics are easy to learn. I know all the songs by heart and actually sing along most of the time (except when the difficulty is on Crazy!) The songs are one of the main reasons why I absolutely wanted to own this game again. You'd think that unknown songs would put you down. And I remember that when I was 11 and I first played this game, I was disappointed that it didn't have all the same songs as in the movie, but that disappointment quickly faded away when I continued playing. Another nice bonus for me was that the lyrics of the songs were in the manual! I have the computer version of the game as well (far too easy, it even gives you the rhythm you need to follow) and it doesn't have the lyrics of the songs. (There's not even a physical manual, only a digital) So I absolutely had to own a physical copy of the ps1 again - which arrived today yay!

Addictiveness 10/10

What can I say? It was my favorite ps1 game growing up, and it says a lot that I still love playing it so much now. Contrary to what some people think, it's not a childish game... Okay, it's Disney, but I dare you to play it in expert or crazy mode without falling at least once! Seriously, it's fun, amusing and a great way to relax. Even if I failed as a kid, the game never stressed me out. It always relaxed me and gave me a great time. It still does now.

Story 8/10

Storywise, it's like you'd expect; it's the same as in the movie. It starts with Mowgli having to go with Bagheera to move to a human village, because Shere Khan is returning and looking for him. You see Shere Khan appear a few times during the cut scenes. The one with King Louis and the one with Kaa. King Louis and Shere Khan are actually seen as two bosses in the game. Of course you need to win the dances with the other characters too, but you need a special way to win with those two. If you don't manage to make them fall three times before the song is over, you lose. Whereas in the other songs, you just need to make sure that you don't fall three times.

Depth 8/10

I usually only play Story mode as a single player, but there's quite a few other things you can do with the game if you've got someone else to play with you. In VS mode, you have power up confrontation and dance marathon. And a few extras like Lou Bega's challenge and his video, and the Dance stage where you can observe the character dancing their song.

Difficulty 5/10

I've chosen 5 for this because it's not too easy but it's not too hard either. There are difficulty levels that are suited for children (easy and normal) and hard, expert and crazy for those who want more challenge ; ) And crazy is really crazy. I love it!

A tip: if you're looking to aim at a perfect score with Baloo, then don't make the commands to do his challenge, because that challenge is impossible, you get an avalanche of arrows that's bound to make you either fall or be near to falling.

If it's really that good, people will find it.

It's a bit sad that this game only has 6 plays. It's a lot of fun if you give it a try. Even my brothers, who were all about shooters and fighting games, liked it. I'll make it my mission to get more users playing this game :D
