I've been spinning discs as more of a recreational thing for about 5 years, but I've been taking it a little more seriously as of late. I manually beatmatch CD and vinyl. I'm using a pair of Technics SL-1210 MK2 turntables and Numark NDX 400 CD players. Those go into a DJ-Tech DIF-1S mixer. I'm getting pretty good at building sets and getting the phrasing right while mixing. I mainly play a variety of 90s and 00s house, techno, and eurodance, along with some other stuff.

Where I live, public transportation is pretty much just the bus line, which can be extremely time-consuming. I used to ride my bike a lot, but have had a few unpleasant accidents. It also got stolen outside my workplace despite being assured that'd be fine on the rack and locking it up really good.

I recently got my driver's license and am doing really well at manning a car. Sometimes, I'd rather just walk if the destination isn't too far.

There are some posts that are real bad that I want to keep dead.

One thing that I'm willing to share would be my bio in 2011. Pretty much being a tween is the cringiest thing that one can do.

From my collection, I have this one-off, lathe-cut record that has a recording of someone playing a theater organ. Before tape recorders were very ubiquitous, you could buy devices that cut grooves onto a lacquer-coated disc (which is actually aluminum). This is one of those discs and is likely the only existing recording of the music it contains.

As for the sound of the organ...the keyboard work is somewhat sloppy but the organ is really gritty and foreboding. I think it's weird enough.

The three holes are to secure the record to the recorder's platter.

I work at a thrift store, so I constantly check the media section for good CDs and sometimes records. I've amassed hundreds of discs this way; lots of electronic, soundtrack, and occasional video game-related stuff, for the most part. As for new music, I either buy physical copies at a local record store or online for more specialty items. Digital-only music is mainly sourced from Bandcamp since a lot of it is name your price and in FLAC. I'm big into Vaporwave, so I buy cassettes on there, as well. For really specific releases, I buy from the Discogs marketplace.

I'm pretty big on my physical media. For albums by my favorite artists, I generally invest in a vinyl LP if it's available or get a CD if I'm more on the fence. I occasionally torrent high-bitrate or lossless files for previewing or if I can't find the songs anywhere else. If I like what I hear, I'll support the artist and pay for a legit copy.

I'm a pretty big fan of hip-hop from all over the spectrum, old-school, golden-age, new-school, abstract, etc.

Usually the stuff that turns me off are bad/generic/over-produced/soulless beats and excessive dirty rap lyrics. I can tolerate a pretty large amount of explicit content, but when it gets to the point where a song goes out of its way to be uncreatively offensive and make me feel gross, I'm not interested.

Here's my top three:

1. a-Ha - Take on Me

2. Chairlift - Evident Utensil

3. The Prodigy - Charly

I roughly rated these in terms of originality and visual aesthetic.

It peeves me to no end when people claim that all music made after a certain era is trash. That's being lazy and ignorant. Once you dig below the surface of top-40 hits and mainstream radio, I think music has thrived thanks to new improvements of technology, particularly that of computers entering the studio and the internet. Talented artists that would normally go unnoticed by an A&R guy 20 years ago can self-publish or join independent labels to find success. Finding quality music has never been easier. The proliferation and advancements of affordable technology and equipment further push innovation and creativity. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of music from the 80s and 90s, but its music isn't superior to that of what's being made now; just different. So no, I don't think that modern music is "bad" when you actually look for it instead of being fed whatever mainstream media has to offer.

I've probably sunk over 1000 hours into Minecraft over the last 5 or so years. I also have 160:36 spent in Pokémon Gold, ~40 hours in Pokémon Yellow when I borrowed it from my friend, and I think about 130 in Terraria. Since getting my 3DS, Activity Log says I've spent 37 hours in Animal Crossing NL and 20 in Pokémon Sun.

There are probably more games that I've spent a lot of time with over the years (Star Wars BFII comes to mind).

I'm 18 and still dealing with my learner's permit. I was going to take my test at the beginning of next month, but I'm probably going to push it into January. I haven't had enough interstate driving and parallel parking experience.

But I'll for sure get it at the age of 18.

I live in a major metropolitan area, so the light pollution is pretty high. On clear nights, I can only see about 10 or so stars. However, I like to catch a good glimpse of the night sky when I'm out in more rural areas. When there's nothing drowning out the sky, it can be quite galactic.

I recently saw Warcraft at a local value cinema. It had decent CGI and special effects. Even for someone who never really got into the games, I thought it was quite good for a video game-based movie. It wasn't a great movie, but it wasn't terrible.

I was going to see it, but my friend gave me a riveting summary:

If you saw the trailer, you saw the whole movie.

Not sure how true that stands, but I doubt it'll win any Oscars.

There was a time when computers would have to cost thousands to match console games. Especially around the early-90s, the right PC could blow a console out of the water, but with a significant cost. During the turn of the millennium, components shot up in performance and down in price. This was when the PC could outperform a console for around the same cost. Today, you can actually build a computer that matches one of the flagship consoles for cheaper. Wanna spend $150 to play Minecraft and older games? You can do that. Wanna freak out and spend $1500 to play Crysis 3 on max settings with 4K surround at 144fps? You can do that as well! A PC can be customized in almost every aspect to accommodate price, aesthetics, performance, and even power consumption. It's only slightly more difficult to put a PC together than it would be to plug a console into your TV, but the satisfaction derived from the effort is totally worth it. The sheer amount of quality games is astounding. A PC can do everything a console can and then some.

I fully believe it's acceptable to kill for self defense or during times of war, which I guess is the same thing. However, if I was in a situation that would require such actions, there'd probably be some amount of psychological trauma from other aspects.
