I just realized you can preview layouts with the "Preview Post" function, but I think it looks different compared to the real forum posts. This might be my last post in this thread for today... Not sure if the image is properly placed on the bottom right of this post, but guess I'll find out in a few seconds lol

I guess this isn't really Contribution Points-related, so I'm not sure if this fits, but I found out that I've been promoted to Trusted User! I'd like to thank anyone and everyone who've given me trust point ratings over the years ![]() ![]() |

Um ok, I have no idea if my layout is working or not, but let's make a post here and see what happens. It's a simple idea: just a single picture on the right side of every post. It looks messed up on my profile page though.

Speaking of the RGR plugin, I tried playing a SNES game with the RGR plugin for the first time in a while. I had made the switch to Windows 7 to 10, but that's the only thing different in my PC setup. I tried ZSNES and Mednafen with the RGR plugin, but all I get now is a black screen with the game's audio playing. Not sure what's wrong, but I have no idea how to fix it. Since the plugin is getting discontinued soon, I'm not sure if there is a fix, but I'll try to figure out a solution.
Seems like HTML5 RetroArch is beginning to work well, but I get framerates in the 50s for SNES games, resulting in choppy playback. Also, as mentioned in this thread, there are issues with N64, MAME, and I'm guessing other consoles for now. I'd also be curious to know if screenshots and high scores will work with HTML5 RetroArch, since those features were integrated into the RGR plugin. There is the newly-added feature to upload screenshots to RGR games in a method similar to VGR games, but I couldn't get that to work. Maybe I just need to tinker with more things. The screenshots that I added for the VGR game Downwell have reappeared. I believe the title screen picture is older than November 2019, so that one's been there since screenshots came back. It's good to see that the site is coming back together!

I'm in the US. My school has closed on-campus classes, so we're going to have our classes be online-only for the foreseeable future. I think me and my family will be ok, but it's worrying how there seems to be no real idea when the illness will end. I've read from the news that the US has not been able to test many citizens, so we do not know the full extent of virus cases here.

R is for Rush 2: Extreme Racing USA, a Nintendo 64 game released in 1998.

Oh yeah, I remember seeing this a little while back. It's really awesome to see that there are people out there willing to put in the effort to preserve these browser games! It looks like they preserve Shockwave games too. I'll have to figure out how to get in touch with them, because I have a few Japanese Shockwave games that I'd like to see preserved. |

I mostly just stick with dark themes on programs, Firefox included. Sometimes, I think it might be a better idea to just go with a light theme, if only because a few programs that I use will flash their really bright theme at me and clash horribly. Ow! |

I wasn't sure if this should be in the video games or music forum sections, but I'd like to ask if there are any pieces of music in little-known video games that deserve more attention. I've just been clicking through video game music soundtracks on the internet for the past week, and here are a few I'd like to share.
Waterworld (SNES) - Diving A fantastic ambient track, with a percussion track coming in early on to spice things up. My descr Xeno Crisis (GEN) - Area 1 Amazingly high quality rock chiptune music for a homebrew Sega Genesis game. It really puts you in the mood for blasting aliens. I'd recommend listening to the rest of this game's music too. Rikki & Vikki (7800) - Metal Cavern This is from another homebrew game, this time for the Atari 7800. The game comes with an extra chip on its cartridge to produce much better-sounding music than the 7800's simpler TIA chip audio. Tobu Tobu Girl Deluxe (GBC) - Electromagnetic Waves (Dream Level) Fun hyperactive Gameboy chiptune filled with arpeggios galore. It's like a little party going on inside your Gameboy! This is another homebrew game. I'm sensing a pattern... The Smurfs' Nightmare (GBC) - The Mysterious Planet Hey, another Gameboy chiptune with arpeggios! I don't really know what to say, but I think this captures the feeling of a mysterious, otherworldy planet quite well. F-Zero GX (GC) - Black Shadow's Theme This is probably the least obscure game on this list, but it rarely got a chance to play in F-Zero GX. I believe this is considered dark gabber/rave/dark hardcore music? I'd love to find more stuff that sounds like this. Poison Needle (PC-98) - PN_10 Would you call this a sort of downtempo house music? I don't know, but whatever you call it, it's great! Time Trax (GEN) - Title Screen Tim Follin is probably one of the more well-known-little-known video game composers, if that makes sense. One of my favorite soundtracks of his is in a game that didn't even get released! This one will send you flying through space while listening. I probably should have thought of a better theme to tie these tracks together than just "little-known games", but oh well lol. Anyone else have great pieces of music that ended up in games that aren't well-known? I earned 27.2 CP by doing nearly nothing yesterday. That's my brag lol.
If I were more like LuckyCharms, I'd be better at multitasking college work and Vizzed more, but alas. The CP earnings were mostly because some users rated some my old screenshots, videos, and new posts on the forum. Thanks to the people who rated my content on Vizzed! I feel like ROM Hacks have a reputation for being harder, less polished, and more frustrating than your typical professional video game. I can't say that isn't an entirely unearned stereotype—they're usually made as a hobby in someone's spare time, so the extra polish of a real video game is usually missing.
Generally, I've only looked deeper into Super Mario World hacks, and out of all the ones I've played, I personally think the SMW hack JUMP½ has been my favorite hack so far. ![]() ![]() ![]() Link to JUMP½ patch It's not exactly an easy game, but it's far from ultra hard difficulty. The overall amount of creativity, polish, and crazy cool set pieces make it a wonderful experience. You can even unlock a shop that lets you buy a few items that make the experience a bit easier, such as an item that enhances your fireball attack, or an item that can revive Mario once per-life if he dies. It's not easy to sell it blindly like this, but I think if you're a somewhat skilled SMW player, you'll have a good time with it. It's been a while since I've played it and 100%ed the whole thing, but I have fond memories of it. Ah, it was only last year lol Any other ROM hacks out there that are worth checking out? I know that Sonic the Hedgehog has an impressive hacking scene, so maybe I'll look there next. I don't eat a lot of fast food anymore, but yeah, Popeyes Chicken Sandwich is pretty good. It's addictive, like fast food usually is lol. I wish I knew how to make fried chicken with Popeyes-like skin. The imitation recipes I've seen online just don't capture that crunchy skin. Wendy's has a "two spicy chicken sandwiches for 5 dollars" deal, which is cheaper than getting two Popeyes sandwiches, which would be 8 dollars. Wendy's isn't too bad, but still not as good as Popeyes to me. I guess if you want to save a few bucks...! |

In my view, it may unfortunately be more socially acceptable (for men) to be angry than to cry. It might be seen as "tough" to lose emotional control, curse, and yell at someone. Oh, he just gets intense. But shedding a tear is socially embarrassing and unacceptable, unless you're at a funeral or something. I can imagine women may face some stigma for crying as well, because it might feel like falling victim to a "stereotypical emotional woman" kind of thing. I don't believe anyone should be shamed or thrown into a stereotype bucket for that kind of stuff. I am not sure if this is entirely true for every culture and country, but that's how I see it living in the US, which sucks.
Also to LuckyCharms: I know how it feels to lose a pet. Isn't it something how these little animals can enter your heart? It never feels like they're around long enough. Most animals don't have a long life span... It's tough. but if anything, I am glad that we can give these animals a good life, keep them fed, warm and happy whenever we can. On a similar note, it's also pretty hard to find people in life where you can be truly open and honest about your feelings. Telling people about your hopes, dreams, goals, fears for the future? Scary. I can't say I am a very open person myself, but hey, we're all a work in progress. Just some thoughts while studying and checking on Vizzed.
