Old School, to me, is NES. Not even Super Nintendo is old school enough.

I have so many NES games I played as a kid. I remember most of them well and I loved all of them. Guerilla War, with two people, may be my favorite old school game. Two people together is hilarious and you can even steal lives from your partner when you go and die. The graphics are cartoonish enough to make it goofy and the pace of the game is feverish. There's no down time. It's simply blowing up everyone and everything around you for 45 minutes and then you beat the game since you get unlimited continues. You need the unlimited continues because there are times when the entire screen is literally filled with enemies and their firepower.

My favorite old school game would have to be Super Mario World. I used to love to play that game when I was a kid. My second would be Super Mario Bros. 3, but Super Mario World would have to win out.

Old school... if you go for NES games, I would have to say that I enjoy Super Mario Bros 3 or Donkey Kong, possibly others, but those are the ones that pop into mind.

Huh...everyone here seems to consider old school to be much more strict than I do. I consider PSX and N64 old school, and I'd even say PS2 to an extent.

My favorite old school game is Toejam & Earl, for sure. So many great memories, and just a really solid and really fun game. Now my favorite old school game series is Harvest Moon -- specifically the games made prior to the GameCube and PS2 titles.

Galaga. The actual arcade cabinet, not Namco Museum or an NES port. You could ask me a thousand time over and I would always answer with Galaga. So simple, yet infinitely entertaining. One of these days, I WILL own a Galaga machine. Even if I have to restore it myself.

Not exactly a videogame, but I also really love pinball machines. Pinball is one of the greatest thing ever invented.

I guess it depends on which generation you mean.

If we're going with 8-bit, then I would have to say Duck Hunt. I never get tired of blasting those ducks out of the sky, ensuring that pain in the ass of a dog doesn't snicker at me lol.

For 16-bit, it would be the Zelda series. I absolutely love the retro ( and modern ) Zelda titles.

For PSX / N64, it would easily be the Final Fantasy franchise. 7, 8, and 9 were all amazing games that I still own to this day. It's been so long, it's actually about time I play through them again ^^

Well, if by old school you mean around about the time I first started gaming, it would be Gen 1 Pokémon or Crash/Spyro. But if you mean earlier, then possibly Super Mario World.

My favorite would be Guardians Crusade. Came out in 1999 for the PS One and it's also my most favorite game of all time. Loved it so much.

If we're talking old school old school, the original Mega Man hexology (I love big words). I got into them when I was 10 and I quickly came to love the awesome music, unique graphics, and the bosses.

However the retro game that's left the biggest impact on me has been Quake III. I got it from my dad at the ripe age of 4 and I've played it countless times since. I have every cut-scene, bot, and level memorized.

Chrono Trigger on the SNES.  Easily the best rpg I ever played.  Although I really like Final Fantasy 6, there is a certain charm to Chrono Trigger that makes me keep coming back to it all the time.

Thankfully, my favorite old school video game is different from my favorite video game in general, although the majority of them I play are classics.

By far my favorite old school video game is Pac-Man. My dad taught me how to play it when I was 7 years old. I loved it so much that from that day on for 10 years, I've played it. Up until I became obsessed with Mario games a couple years ago, I played Pac-Man games all day every day Now I play it once in a while but when I do play it, it's still addicting. I could write a super long, boring post if I listed all the Pac-Man games I've played on what emulators and consoles.
