Are you shy? Or used to be shy and you somehow overcame it? How? Or were you never shy before? Or sometimes shy?

I know I can search the internet about overcoming shyness but I honestly feel like I'm not getting very definite answers (maybe because everyone is different?). So it would be cool to hear about this from the vizzed community as well.

So for me... Yep. One problem I have been trying to deal with so far in my life is indeed overcoming shyness. I am very shy most of the time (even on vizzed).

To be honest, I'm a very somewhat crazy person (NOT in a bad way most of the time ) and my curiosity knows no bounds... But my shyness often hides away or holds back my craziness/curiousness.

Although it seems like I'm not shy at all (or only a tiny bit shy) around people I know well enough for a while (Family & closer friends). Though it's really only a few people that I'm not shy around (Similar thing on vizzed as well with users that I have known since I was a newbie/new trusted member, which means some users I have known for 3+ years).

I guess a weird thing is that occasionally I'm somehow not shy at all, even around people that I don't know too well, but that doesn't happen very often (kinda rare). But I'm not shy almost every time I tutor any students (which is one of my part time jobs), which is also weird (but really nice, I guess it's just from experience of tutoring for a while. Maybe being a tutor gives me some self-confidence).

So how about you guys?

Yes.....still am. I mean I'm not as shy as I used to be in the past because I've pretty much gotten comfortable on the site. But still keep some parts of that within me. It can be a talk about certain subjects. That's why....I don't have much self confidence even if I tried.

I'm not as shy as I used to be, that's for sure. I find myself talking to people more and more as time goes on, which is really good because it shows that I'm slowly getting used to coming out of my comfort zone. I think a big reason for that is because Vizzed is helping me, haha.

I've been, am, and will always be shy (I've already accepted my fate )

I'm always shy the first time I meet someone, though that can go away if we become friends and/or we introduce our common friend alcohol. I feel like I'm overcoming it naturally, because I'm growing a bud of self-confidence due to winning the battle against my disease, but I'm not sure if I'll manage to totally overcome it one day.

My shyness also holds back my craziness (with friends) and my curiousness (all other environments I can find myself in). Sometimes it's good because some ideas didn't need to go through, but sometimes it's not. I've learnt to deal with it, and since I'm fully aware of the kind of guy I am and I want to be, I don't regret it, I don't want to create any false expectations of myself.

Y-yes...

I am a pretty shy person at first. But once I feel close to people, I cannot shut up! Or at least I get over the shyness. Vizzed has helped me overcome a huge portion of my shyness.

Is it just me or are there more shy people than i thought there were?

To be honest, i actually am shy when i'm new at some places. But once i get comfortable somewhere... Eh...

O__O Surprised by some of these answers. Lol

Yeah I'm pretty shy myself. I can handle talking to almost anyone one on one, or over the internet or through text messaging, but in person I can't handle talking if there's more than one person around, whether I know the people or not.

And I never get 100% comfortable with talking around multiple people. I mean I do get more comfortable eventually, but never completely so.

I used to be more shy in the past, but I've started getting less and less shy over the years. I always was worried what people might think or say, but once you stop worrying about that less you'll notice talking to people gets easier. Sure, not everybody may like you (there's one guy at my school who dislikes me a bit and half of the time I say something he'll react with a sour face or a sarcastic answer) but most people will. I do not always easily start conversations with people, but there have been a few times I started them with total strangers and had fun talking with them. Still, among my friends I am one of the more shy people, but thanks to them I've also become less shy actually.

I would say it completely depends on the situation. I used to be an all around shy person no matter where it was be it online or offline, even around friends. Nowadays I've come out of my shell a little bit. I'm not shy around friends and am generally not shy online in public settings like chatrooms/mmos (at least not on vizzed which is really the main place I go to that actually involves talking to people). Anyone who talks to me somewhat regularly can probably confirm that I can be pretty talkative lol. Though I can still have a hard time fully trusting people. I'm not shy around classmates either. Basically I'm not shy assuming it's around people I already know or in a familar environment. I've also overcome some of my fear of public speaking over time, thanks to repeatedly having held presentations in school, to the point where I at least don't dread them anymore.

I'm still very shy around strangers in real life, even when voice chatting with people online which causes me to often just end up being quiet even when I have things to say and people just sort of forget I'm there or probably think I'm weird for using the ingame text commands lol. Though I don't stutter or anything of the sort. I tend to become more talkative if I get to know the person better though. Because of that I usually end up playing solo in most console multiplayer games. I've always been pretty bad at making new friends, especially because I'm bad at initiating conversations, most of them were the result of someone else making an effort to get to know me, or through text chatting which removes a lot of the awkwardness for me and usually means I at least know of a common interest we share beforehand. I want to become more social, or at least get rid of some of the social anxiety I still do, in fact I've considered to start streaming games to hopefully help me overcome my shyness when talking, but I've started to think that to some extent it's also just part of who I am, being a pretty big introvert and someone who enjoys spending time alone regularly. I would expect it's a similar situation for most people here since that tends to be the trend for people who spend a lot of time online.

A user of this : h...hi... D-do you have a minute to talk about your lord and savior Jontron? It's fine you don't...

MarioLucarioFan64 : I expected literally everyone except myself to say "Yes" to some degree.

I'm not shy.

I never was. I'm baffled by it and I don't understand why you wouldn't want to talk over to someone who looked interesting and ask them how their day was. I remember getting butterflies and being nervous talking to girls I didn't know or trying to meet new people but I never remember thinking I was shy.

I like people. I like to listen to how they say things, what words and phrases they use, and how they conceptualize life. It makes for interesting conversations when I say, "Oh, I met this one guy and he thinks the world is really a fleeting day dream of a giant super beetle in an alternate dimension and we're about to wink out of existence as soon as that beetle wakes up and has a late lunch."

That really happened. I had that conversation with a guy. And it was perhaps one of the greatest moments of my life.

So, no, I'm not shy. I get in front of people, I relate humorous stories, I listen, I laugh, I smile, I make eye contact, I engage. I can make friends with a wall. I'm approachable and confident and comfortable.

I'm certain I'm one of maybe two or three total in the community at Vizzed.

good lord, everyone but ghostbear is shy ;;

tbh, I'm not exactly shy, I just prefer not to socialize with people I'm not familiar with, at least in person. Everyone called it shyness, but I never felt it was that. I mean, if I wanted to talk, I would say something silly, but I never felt like it. Online, though, I'm definitely not afraid to speak my mind. I'll say anything as long as I don't intentionally hurt people.

It's possible that I was shy when I was a child, but I don't feel I'm shy now. I may be mistaken for shy. It's just I don't want to force myself to socialize if I'm with people I'm not familiar with, and I don't care to make new friends either unless they interest me or talk to me continuously.

Yeah, I'm really shy. Unless I know someone really well, I have trouble socializing and talking to people. I actually spend most of my time in college in my bedroom rather than in my living room because even though all of my housemates are really cool guys, I get nervous trying to talk to them. For me it's just easier to avoid the situation entirely. I've gotten a lot better over the years, but it's still something I need to work on.

I used to be very shy, but now I'm confident enough to go up on a stage and perform video game metal arrangements for crowds, so I definitely think it's turned around. Hell, I went to MagFest in National Harbor, Maryland a few weeks ago and got to meet quite a few people I met over the internet, and I definitely wouldn't have been able to do so if I kept being my old shy self that I was like when I was younger.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
