Barathemos : Who are you my mom <.< >.>

I usually stay up later during the weekends but I only really change my routine around during school breaks assuming I don't have anything else going on. I've always been more of a night person, more so since becoming active on vizzed where most of the users are American and thus most active during the night for me. I live alone with my mom' and she's fine with me staying up late but doesn't like me pulling all nighters. She has said as long as I do well in school and jobs/other stuff I have going on she won't complain. Besides, she often works at nighttime or is out herself so even if she wanted to she couldn't do much to stop it.

Well I hope you don't mind me bumping this, and I hope you are still taking questions. The thread is still open and still stickied so I assume it's still ok to post in(?)

If you had to move to another country, which country would you most want to move to?

tgags123 : Don't worry about it. This thread was originally in a rented forum which dropped off in activity. I figured now that I'm a global, it might as well be moved but I didn't think it was worth making an announcement about. In other words, if anything I'm attempting to reinvigorate some activity in this thread.

To answer your question, I'm not sure I have a straight answer. The first country that would come to mind is Japan since I have a love for the country's culture and history, in terms of the entertainment industry, food and the traditions among other things. I'm also trying to become proficient in the language and I think moving there would definitely help with that. However I don't know how much I would enjoy living there permanently as my first hand experience with the country is only limited to a few short trips. I might end up getting too homesick.

For a safer answer I'd consider Canada given that I know English so I feel like there would be less of a barier. It's a different enough country to where it would be interesting to live there but it still shares a lot of similarities with the Scandinavian countries to where I hopefully wouldn't feel too out of place.

Furret : Boy, that's a difficult question. I think it was a combination of my circumstances growing up along with the school I was in. It was at the start of high school that my interest for the social sciences really developed. I had been heavily bullied during middle school which ended with me eventually switching schools. Because of what had happened during that time I lacked self confidence which in combination with being shorter than most kids and having a somewhat girl-ish appearance made me an easy target to pick on.

To get away I often escaped into the internet and I became curious about why I was bullied, as in what exactly it was that motivated people to do that kind of thing. I eventually started to watch various vocal social commentators. That gave me some confidence to stand up for my beliefs and it resulted in making a promise to myself to not let people step on me anymore. I think that probably lead me to overcompensate a little bit. I wanted to stand out and go against the grain and I also had a teacher who seemed to think I had a knack for the social sciences and motivated me to get better. All of this combined lead to me wanting to expand my knowledge of politics, a subject most people around me made no attempt to understand or even purposely avoided.

Over the years I would describe myself as having become more laid back. I still like discussing social and political problems but I don't feel the need to assert myself in the same manner that I used to. I no longer strive to become a politician, but I still have that love for learning and the social sciences in general. I find that they help me make sense of the world and why people act the way they do which gives me a sense of satisfaction and purpose.

Interesting.

If you had to choose 3 people (can't be anyone you know personally) to live with you on an abandoned island, who would they be?

tgags123 : No legs would be the obvious pick for me. It would suck being stuck in a weelchair for the rest of my life but at least I could do play games/read books and do a bunch of other basic tasks that require hands.

thing1 : The standout achievement would be winning the overall competition. I used to be pretty proud of my standing in the green jersey hall of fame as well. The only regret I had was never getting 4 jerseys in a day, I got incredibly close but just barely lost out on red despite getting way more CP than I ever had in a day, since Ferdinand decided to shut me out from getting it. That's an achievement I knew I'd never go for again.

To be honest most of my memories from the TdV and the time that followed I view as a reminder of who I used to be. Being the only European to win the competition at the time, it required an even greater time investment than it would for most other winners since I had to change my entire daily routine to make sure I retained the jerseys. I basically lived on the site at the time. Nowadays it all feels pretty far back as I was at an entirely different stage in life.

Furret : I assume this includes people I've talked to online as well, so that more or less leaves me with celebrities. I'd probably go with Bear Grylls for survival and health reasons. He would be able to come up with a good strategy for surviving and he could help me use the spare time I now have to stay in good shape. Secondly I'd go with Jennifer Lawrence simply for her acting skills, and absolutely no other reason whatsoever. Thirdly I'd go with Donald Trump whom through his statements would serve to keep the rest of us firmly allied against him thus preseving unity within the group.

As you can see this is a very well thought out list of people

tgags123 : The answer to that would be no and no. I'm not really a spiritual person and used to be outspokenly against most major religions when I was younger. My attitude on that has changed over the years, as in starting to believe that religion can often be a source of good and adopting a more live and let live attitude in other cases. However I still hold mostly the same conceptions around the world and its creation. That includes not believing in the existence of miracles.

That is unless I just got out of watching a Disney movie

For question number two, I definitely prefer English over Swedish music generally. Pretty much all major current artists I listen to are based in English speaking countries. Really I've always had a hard time enjoying Swedish songs, with a few notable exceptions. I think part of that is simply due to there being a greater variety of English songs because of the larger audience.

tgags123 : I could go on about this for a long time but to put it simply, yes. I don't believe in there being a second place of existence after death. When people die I think that is it, their consciousness ceases to exist. I think Mark Twain put it best as to why this is not something that needs to be feared in and of itself:

"Annihilation has no terrors for me, because I have already tried it before I was born—a hundred million years—and I have suffered more in an hour, in this life, than I remember to have suffered in the whole hundred million years put together."

Of course given this, it may still seem like a depressing thought to many as it would imply we are insignificant in the grand scheme of things and thus that there is little meaning to life. I find that the concept of meaning is highly subjective. I personally view it as all the more reason to make use of the time that we have in this world. To see and experience many different things in my lifetime. To stop focusing on the distant future so much and enjoy the present.

One of the things I find meaning in is the pursuit of knowledge, that there is a sort of beauty in understanding what governs the world and exploring the many mysteries that have yet to be solved. We are discovering new things each day and making things previously thought impossible, possible. For example, through researching AI it is possible that we might one day be able to create sentient machines which could change our entire concept of life and in a sense allow us to achieve immortality. Through this kind of lense, allowing for the possibility of there being no greater purpose to life makes our existence a lot more open ended and in a way exciting.

pennylessz : The forum manager is basically an aide to the acting mod manager. I would say the most interesting thing about it is getting to discuss ideas relating the forums/mods before they're put into action and having a more driving role on that front in comparison to the other globals. However with the low activity levels there's really not all that much work to do right now.

Do you still check in every now and then? I genuinely don't know. I remember you being incredibly active.

plasticinsanity : A negative one, the view of the EU is more positive than negative here as far as I know and seeing brexit drag on for so long doesn't really help the perception of it. Of course there's a big divide here too so some might see it in a positive light.

LuckyCharms : That's a difficult one, not sure if I have a single favorite game that trumphs all. I guess in terms of playtime and memories, it would be Pokemon HG/SS or the original Pokemon Crystal, so many nostalgic memories playing that game on a gameboy pocket and later on emulators. It was the first video game that I really became obsessed with. Despite not having played it in years I'm pretty sure I could still go through it knowing most of it inside out. There's a lot of other games I could put there as well but I haven't been playing that much outside of a few online games the past year or so, it would be more so based on the past.

Lexatom : Well, I've been gone from the site for about 2 months, before that I really only logged in every once in a while to check notifications. So I guess in that sense the answer is that I've become quite inactive, but I doubt I'll ever disappear completely. This site has still been a huge part of me for several years, one that I would difficult to drop completely.

Then what would you say would be your least favourite game of all time, if any and why so?
