I wanna talk about school presentations. Do you love them or hate them? Are you good at them or can you barely stand in front of people?

I am yes to all of those questions.

I just did a presentation for my sports class yesterday and while up until I was ready to go, I was prepared, everything messed up at the last minute but I think I still did well. I used to be terrified about speaking in front of others until about a year ago but now I'm pretty good at it.

What about you?

Back when I was in school I actually enjoyed doing presentations. There were some boring ones, but there were most I enjoyed because of what the lesson was for them. I made my presentations the best it can be which was why I worked hard on it. And most of the teachers liked my hard work, and ideas I came up for them as well.

Eniitan : lol presentations over here are only fun if you are watching someone else do them, not if you have to do one.

zanderlex : I know that's what most people say. I guess because my mindset was different to other peoples back then I enjoyed doing a lot of practical things when we were told to do them.

I have terrible stage fright but somehow I've survived to this day without thoroughly embarrassing myself. Once in high school I did throw all my notes on the floor and told the teacher in front of everyone that I'd rather die than do this presentation, which was a bit dramatic I admit... And once back in high school I almost started crying because I failed the introduction to my presentation twice... But nothing too serious, haha.

I still have two more presentations ahead of me in university which I'm terrified of already. One is related to how my thesis is going and the last one is me representing my finished thesis. The last one is going to include questions from the audience so wish me luck that I won't pass out in front of everyone.

I ended up missing class today and while I already went in the last class, a good hunk of my presentation grade is about asking questions to other people that present so I'll probably be bumped down a few points even if I did well on mine.

I love presentations. Before, I use to go to great lengths to not present, my science teacher Mr. Dube (pronounced Dubee) knew this and always called me up to present, I would just hide under a table and force him to pick someone to present for me then, go over to his grading book and make sure he gave me a 100  I was a very sassy 8th grader.

Once I got to college, I had Public Speaking so, I had to put together about 6-8 detailed presentations on all kinds of topics and speaking methods so I got very comfortable and really enjoyed it. I got over my accent which before it bothered me since it singled me out but, in college there's far more diversity so I learned to embrace it. I did very good at capturing attention and speaking clearly. I still get very nervous but, it turns into a positive for me.

I hate school presentations with a passion, just because I don't like going up in front of people and speaking out most of the time. I have gotten better with over time, but I still hate it and it's the only kind of project I prefer working with partners in.

Personally, I dislike presentations unless the audience is actually awake. If the audience is awake, then we have a chance to talk and interact, which makes presentations much more fun. If they're already asleep, however, it takes way more effort to wake them up and sometimes that becomes kind of discouraging. I used to hate presentations because I never thought anyone was actually paying attention or listening, or even learning anything from them for that matter.

However, I now think that sometimes, it’s more just the group of people you're with rather than the presentation itself. You could be making a great presentation and be doing well but the audience just isn't interested in the topic, so then they’d all appear to be bored or asleep.

As for whether or not I used to be terrified about speaking in front of others, there was a time when I would dread presentations but after going through a certain training program, I’ve learned to relax before presentations and then to just do whatever it is that I rehearsed days ago. Yes, the keywords are “rehearsed” and “days in advance.” Certainly, one could try to wing a presentation, but often, the audience can tell whether or not you’ve prepared at all for your presentation, and unless you’ve been making stellar presentations for years (like several decades and you can make presentations in your sleep), it's generally advised that everyone prepares for their speeches in advance. Also, a seasoned speaker once told me that the shorter the presentation, the more time would be required for the preparations because the audience must absorb the main ideas within that limited amount of time, which means we would essentially have to condense all of the ideas as succinctly as possible in order to deliver them with the utmost eloquence. This is why some people would spend weeks on only five minutes while they would only spend about an hour to prepare for a presentation that lasts approximately 2 to 4 hours.

As for me... Right now, I'm at the stage where I'm working on being able to make presentations in my sleep, so I guess I'm fairly okay at making presentations. =P

I personally do not like presentations,I am not a people person. Although many in my Medical Billing class would disagree, because I would give my report in front of the class, even though I only do it so everyone does not have to turn around to do see. I can do it,if I must, but I hate doing it.

I haven't done a school presentation in over fifteen years but that doesn't mean I can't answer the question.

I love presenting. I love being in front of a group of people and talking about something that I'm passionate about and something I know about. I get to talk to groups of people who are generally interested in what I have to say and I know how to tell a story. I have no problem with building tension, talking, not talking, and I like the thrill of being up in front of a group of people. I present to 80-odd new employees on Monday and it is a normal day of work for me.

As long as I'm prepared and I understand what I'm talking about, I'm happy to do demonstrate, present, and get up there in front of others. I love it. it's fun. It's a rush that isn't like much else out there.

I recently did a 20-minute presentation for my 1st period class analyzing 2 of Steven Spielberg's movies. It was the first time I actually enjoyed giving a presentation instead of watching one.

Overall, I don't like giving presentations, but I am good at them. No matter what, I'll develop a burst of anxiety when I'm about to present which makes it much more difficult to speak fluently. However, with this past one I simply made myself do it sooner which helped significantly! Despite its long length, it was fun because I put in more effort to make it fun. I cracked some jokes, I talked to the computer telling it not to screw it up, and my teacher seemed to thoroughly enjoy it.

How good I am at presentations, and how much I like them, depends on what I'm presenting. If it's a boring presentation of a historical event, I dread it but if it's a presentation about something I enjoy learning about (like movie effects), I'll be nervous but glad for the opportunity.

I used to be one of those people who was incredibly shy when presenting, no matter how much I practiced I would always get nervous and often end up having my mind blank on me because of it to where it was just impossible for me to remember anything. Over time however, after doing it continiously and pushing myself I've gotten better at it. In large part brought on by the fact that I'm studying the social sciences (where presentations are often used as part of your grading) I'm still slightly nervous before and during a presentation but I think some degree of nervousness is a good thing since it keeps you on your toes.

I can talk infront a crowd of people without too much trouble as long as I've rehersed it. I might forget to bring something up from time to time but it's usually more due to not having practiced enough. I actually enjoy it depending on the topic since it gives me a chance to display my knowledge on something and perhaps even teach people about something new or offer a different perspective on a popular subject. All of that is of course assuming people actually have some degree of vested interest in what I'm talking about.
