This enemy from Mega Man X appears pretty often. It appears in half of the 8 maverick stages (Storm Eagle, Flame Mammoth, Boomer Kuwanger, and Sting Chameleon's Stage), and the first two Sigma Stages. In the remake, this enemy only appears in Sigma Stage 1 if you’re X, and Sigma Stage 3 if you’re Vile.

This enemy has a shield, which protects it from any attack, and it has a mace and it throws you at X when you’re close to it. The mace hurts you, but the chain doesn’t, which is good since the mace also blocks your attack(s). The only way to hurt this enemy is when the shield is down, which is when it throws the mace. You could also try to catch the enemy’s toe, if you’re at a lower altitude than it.

Extra Tidbit- This enemy is similar to the Sniper Joe from the Classic series, and it was originally supposed to jump around like the Sniper Joe. That move is in the programming somewhere, but is never executed.

List of appearances
Mega Man X (SNES)
Mega Man Maverick Hunter X (PSP)

Yes these guys can be a pain cause they are often put in spots were you have to climb and they are happy to send you falling back down. I personally have found that the Tornado weapon from Storm Eagle takes them out quickly as it parts of the tornado can penetrate their shields. A fully charged Buster shot (upgraded ) version takes them out but you have to wait till they lower their shield.

tornadocam : I also found that the charged upgraded version of the X-buster (actually debated about putting that in the bio ^^') worked really well for them when you're at a lower altitude than them (being on a ladder is the best though). And I seem to remember that because the fully charged shot is basically just several shots going up and down in a wave pattern that it could get the enemy from under, even if the shield was up, if your buster shot is near it's toe. Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly but ^^'.

I hate the placement of them in Flame Mammoth, however. If my recollection is correct, then they're placed near the area with the red evil liquid dropping from the pipes and the Rolling Gabyoall, which makes it harder to dodge their attack without getting hit vv. (btw I want to thank you for reading & replying to some of the bios I've written, it does mean a lot since I usually feel like no one looks at these vv)
