This has happened to me plenty of times especially while I play games in the Legend of Zelda series. I will consume so much time into the game and up until the point when I'm about to finish the game is when it usually occurs. This is one of the most frustrating things that happens when you play video games on a console which is why I prefer emulators. Additionally what is even more frustrating is when the game save corrupts your entire Gamecube memory card making it not usable. This made me start buying backup memory cards so I can backup my saved data in video games.

I've had it happen to me before. I went back to a much older game, but my save file had mysteriously vanished. It's annoying. Then, there's the accidental erasures, which hurt even more. I tried handing my copy of Breath of Fire 2 over to a friend of mine, and the save file was gone when I finally got it back. That just frustrated me so much that I completely stopped playing the game, especially since I didn't like it in the first place.
