So, I've been trying to think of ways to get the site to be more active and I've come up with a small idea of what might help.

Any day that the site has more than 300 posts per day I will give away 5,000 Viz to someone who posted more than 5 times that day. This means that you could be eligible to win 5,000 Viz simply by posting 5 times.

Local moderators and up would not be eligible because I expect them to be posting regularly and they all probably have more Viz than they know what to do with. This also increases your chances of getting the Viz because you don't have to deal with fighting with the staff for it.

So, all you need to do to possibly win is to post at least 5 times a day. If the site gets 300 posts in that day then you are eligible to win 5,000 Viz for that day. If it doesn't get to 300 posts for the day then that 5,000 Viz is lost and you can try again the next day.

This is a really good idea. I think that this could definitely get more people to make posts daily, especially newer users who don't have much Viz to begin with. I hope this will get the community to become more active on the boards.

gamerforlifeforever2 : that's my hope. I know the staff doens't need the Viz but other people could earn Viz quickly this way and possibly get the RGR item they were hoping for a lot more quickly. And I've got 4 million Viz that I have basically no use for and could be given out to encourage more activity.

geeogree : This could entice some people more new to the boards looking for ways to earn Viz (for the PlayStation item and such) to try and post. It would still be a nice extra incentive/bonus for those trusted and above who are a bit more experienced. So overall I think this is a cool idea.

This is a great idea. When I was new to the site, and especially the boards, I was frantically searching for ways to earn lots of Viz. I would volunteer myself if I had the quantity, but maybe you could find a second staff member who would partner with you and also do the same thing (but with a different user per day of course). Or maybe have it set up where one wins 5k, one wins 3k, and one wins 1k, or something similar. The better the odds of winning, the more people may be willing to participate.

Mynamescox44 : it's hard to have a 1st, 2nd, 3rd sort of prize like that when winning doesn't rely on who posts the most but rather on simply completing the required 5 posts per day to be eligible. I don't see a good way to decide who gets the higher payout. Picking someone first doesn't make them more worthy of a higher Viz payout. Maybe in a different instance the payout could done in the way you are suggesting.

I think this is a great idea, but I also feel that the only people who are going to see this are those who are actively looking through this forum or only find out about this by winning the Viz. It could work if the word gets spread out a bit more, maybe by at the end of a day summoning everybody who made 5 posts to tell them that they are eligible and then pick a winner, or at least something else to get people to know about this.

I'm also hoping that once this starts happening that the word spreads around the site among people who are winners or know winners.

zanderlex : I like your idea of summoning all the potential winners to the thread as a way to spread the word. Especially because many likely wouldn't know they could have won at all until I did that.

geeogree : Maybe in the morning you can summon all of the users who were eligible for the previous days prize and then pick a winner at night, that way not only would users find out about it, but each time a new user finds out about it, they will have that entire day to help boost the post count. Not to mention once you are ready to pick a winner you would have the list ready.

because all of you posted 5 or more times and the site had 300+ posts today you are all eligible to win 5,000 Viz. The draw will happen sometime during April 14th. I need to find some sort of random number generator or something in order to do this fairly. Once I've found something and have picked a winner then I'll summon that person here and send them their winnings.

If you want another chance at 5,000 Viz just post 5+ times and hope the site breaks 300 for that day.

Really? Again? : it is going to be a random draw. I'll probably use a random number generator and assign everyone on the list a number between 1 and 10 (depending on how many people there are) and then whatever number I get is the person who wins. I'll probably keep track of recent winners to 1 person doesn't keep winning in a row.
