Do you like reading comics? I for one am not really a fan of comics because I don't like how expensive they are versus how short they actually are so I'm really picky when it comes to getting comics.

I know a lot of effort goes into them and they look amazing but I'm not going to spend that much for something that comes out so frequently unless it's something that interests me.

Two comics that I really like are Runaways and Invader Zim. I only read the first edition of Runaways a long time ago but I loves it to pieces and Invader Zim is something I will always love so back when issue 3 came out in October, I bought all of them.

What are your thoughts? What are some comics that you really like reading?

My father has a HUGE collection of (French) comics like Astérix, Mafalda, Yoko Tsuno... I have read and re-read them and still enjoy them to this day. And whenever I go back to his house I make sure I am up-to-date with the newest comics from his collection.

On a more personal side I used to enjoy Garfield a lot. I bought a lot of the black-and-white comic strips and still enjoy doing it. I know find them even funnier since I have a cat now. I should also get back to Dilbert. Now that I have grown up and mature (and lived in an office environment) I understand the jokes better; I also like its political message.

janus : Ooh, now that you mentioned foreign comics, it made me think a lot of the Tintin ones. I likes those a bit around the time that the movie came out, both of which where hilarious.

I love comics but I can't really recall many that I have read since I am limited to how many I can read due to how expensive they are so I'm kind of on the same boat with you there.

Bintsy : Yeah, if they were less expensive, I probably would have a large collection by now, I only buy comics from the 48 cents stock at midtown comics and even then, not a lot of them interest me all that much. Right now I have maybe two dozen comics, but all of them except foe the three invader zim issues, I got for free at Comic con.

I just got about 4 comics for 2 dollars a couple of weeks ago. I will have to let you know the names of them when I can ask mom where her and my sister put them lol. They cleaned up our room so all my items are in different places.

Bintsy : Ooh where did you get them from? If I can find another place that sells comics for really cheap, I'm definitely going to get some, even if I have no idea what they are about. Comics that are 50 cents to a dollar is not something that I can argue, I feel that's a good price.

zanderlex : I was actually never a fan of Tintin. The content is a little more serious and mature than most of his other comics. Plus the dialogues were very long and the album, 64 pages long with a continuous story. The movies were easier to follow, though, even though we couldn't hear Snow's thoughts.

I've always been a fan of Marvel Comics and love the X-Men and have collected them for years. I have a few other companies I collect from like Dark Horse, IDW, Wildstorm and Aspen, but Marvel is the bulk of what I read. 

I stopped collecting a few years ago because all of my favourite artists weren't working on anything for Marvel. If a book I'm reading has bad art, I have a hard time getting into the story no matter how good it is. Plus I had close to 900, but I started collecting again this past year.

They are expensive now, around $6 each, but there are quite a few comic cons a year around here and there are some good deals to be found.
