A few days ago, I read in the news that Russian president Vladimir Putin has endorsed Donald Trump's presidential campaign, having many words of praise for him. For me, this raises a very large red flag. I could be the victim of years of propaganda against Putin, but I have always heard that he is a very harsh and somewhat tyrannical leader, and he's not someone I would really want to find qualities he likes in a presidential candidate, but that's just me. So, I would like to know if anyone else is concerned about this, and why they are or aren't.

As someone not living in the US. All the less reason to vote for him I'd say but really I could care less. I find Donald Trump to be the worst possible presidential candidate out of all the major candidates for what I thought were obvious reasons, and I'm not exactly a fan of Putin either considering the tyranny he subjects his own people to and the propaganda he spreads about himself (suuuuuure you saved journalists from a leopard attack, seems perfectly legit to me). 

Why he's doing this is anybody's guess. Maybe for it possibly benefiting him in some way and helping him get things his way since they seem have similar opinions on some things and considering how much he dislikes Obama, he would probably want anything but to see another democrat president.

I think Putin only endorses Trump because he wants trade with the US. Russia is nowhere the powerhouse it once was and I think Putin would just be using Trump to benefit himself. Putin likes to act like Trump,act tough,get away with crap and have people love him for it.

This is not good... Trump will be a tyrant if he is elected, but to have the support of Putin?

This in my opinion seems like it will be a disaster if Trump is elected.

Trump can't keep a cool head. He's just a loud mouth. Trump's only good quality is that he doesn't play the political bulls***. This is why Putin likes him. Putin HATES the political bulls***.

I would elect Putin for president if he weren't a moral monster.

Recently, Trump has lashed out against Putin saying that all he does is kill journalists that doesn't agree on what he's doing.

Well, I first was hoping that Trump wins the whole election, but with his recent actions, I have second thoughts now, glad I don't vote.

Oldschool777 : I think Putin wants to open up more trade between the Unites States and Russia and bury the hatchet between the two countries who absolutely hated each other for a little more than a half a century. To this day, Americans still don't trust Russians and vice versa. How this is going to play out, I don't know.

Well,if Putin were gone,it might work. I think secretly or not so secretly he wants a return to Communism. Putin is not willing to negotiate or meet anyone halfway. It will take many years,perhaps a century or two for Americans and Russians to trust each other. Which is sad,since they both fought on the same side in WW2.

True. Stalin was a lunatic and paranoid. Trump and Putin are so similar it is scary. They are both loud,opinionated,think they are right at all times and does whatever they want despite protests.

Putin is a fascist, not a communist. He doesn't care about "to each according to his needs, from each according to his abilities". Putin is much more concerned with Autarky, nationalism, mixed economic policies, military might, etc. And notably, these are also positions of Trump. This is another reason they get along. Neither are fascist by name, but in fact both are.

Wouldn't Trump be more of an elitist? Trump really only cares for himself and his wealthy friends. Voting for Trump is like gummy candy,sure they taste good but have no substance or value.

Elitism isn't isolated to one form of government or another. Trump is a fascist, and he's largely ignorant to American political procedure.

It really is kinda annoying, but not surprising since Putin is ultra conservative. Honestly, Russia isn't that relevant anymore. At least not nearly as much as they would lead you to believe.

Isn't Russia steamrolling isis and other terrorist groups? I'd say maybe he supports Trump because he'd make the military actually go out there and do things other than "accidentally" bombing hospitals and not finding terrorists?

Putin is no saint. He's a liar and, well, kind of pathetic in the propaganda he manufactures about himself. But I don't see them as a threat any more. The entire state of Russia is run down, out of money, and just barely getting by. I highly doubt this is some ploy to back-stab America. I think it's one man with a big ego saluting another man with an equally as big ego.

I'm glad I can't vote sometimes. The candidates can be described as "Hilary Clinton" and "At least I'm not Hilary Clinton". The reason Trump has such a strong backing is that he doesn't beat around the bush, doesn't cater to politically correct crybabies, and is no-nonsense in his dealings. Yes he's loud, speaks every thought he has, and doesn't exactly have the experience you'd expect a presidential candidate to have. But...We don't win no matter who wins to be honest. I think I wouldn't vote this time around if I could. There's nobody I feel like I could fully support this time around.

They are both insanely rich fearmongering bigots who like to tell poor people what to do and people will listen! I am sure America will become like Russia instead of the other way around. Harasoo!

I honestly could not care less. WHOEVER wins the election this year (notwithstading the impossible case it would be a Libertarian) the imperialistic foreign policy of the U.S. will remain untouched - yes that includes Rand Paul who is more of a conservative.


Besides, did anyone intelligent doubted the... extreme vision that Donald Trump has of the world? What looks alike goes together as we say in French. He might as well have endorsed Hillary Clinton since she is at least as hawkish
