HS or PS? This poll is for if you would rather go to Public Schooled or be Home schooled, not which one you did. (I won't be voting in this post, by the way)

I have always went to public (and still am) and so far it has turned out great. I would have done poorly if I was home schooled as I didn't talk much when I was younger and public education certainly helped me with that.

Interesting posts from what I'm seeing. I'm from the UK, I have learned from a public school. It wasn't that bad compared to other people's experience. Though majorly my problem was the teaxhers, either the teachers that are kind and can teach but everyone talks over him/her or the teacher that can't teach and even gives you work that isn't even part of my GCSE unit, come on!

Also I wasn't very happy about the rule is that you can't get a near bold haircut, I got a bold haircut...By accident, this is a story for another day and I was forced in some kind of major detention room where mostly the people that have been in fights recently go. And I was unfortunately there for 2 weeks.

I guess my school experience has been better than others and I think I got a decent education out of it, my English is probably still shoddy.

All written down in my phone...Still practicing.

I went to public school my whole life, and i'm taking night classes now which are in a public setting.

To be fair, I kinda wish I could just do my nightclasses home-schooled. I've had to relearn everything through youtube anyways so besides getting the assignments, going to class almost feels like a waste. Other than seeing people which I guess is good.

Homeschooled, because I've never been to a public or traditional school before.

In my entire life, up to now, I've been homeschooled. So, I'm not sure what public school is like-- in ways of experience and teaching styles. I've heard that the homework load is more manageable and easier, but that's only going by what people said when they switched. I plan on going to a traditional community college, so hopefully I'll be prepared then.

I think public school is important so that you learn how to shut up and deal with something. Throughout public school you're bound to run into some problems, and you should learn when to do something about them and when you should just take it in the gut.

Throughout the years I've went to public school I made lots of great friends which is a valuable asset to have in modern times and when I seem to struggle at a particular subject they're always there to help me too bad that relying on other people too much can be rather unhealthy. Private school is expensive all that money should be going to college instead of highschools and homeschoolers are loners. Public school is a necessity and although not the best learning experience it is the most efficient.

I've attended public schools since I was in Kindergarten, and to be honest it's ok at best by now. Due to me becoming so used to it that it's more of a chore to do than anything. Due to this, I come home feeling exhausted mentally trying to get straight A's which will be worth it in the end at least.

I have been in public schools since Kindergarten or even before that, I think. The experience is amazing. Usually, there is an amazing diversity at a public school. You see people of all races and religions at a public school. Would this be the same at all public schools? Maybe not, but from what I've seen, this is the case in most public schools.

I went to Public School. I wasn't a fan though, simply for the fact everything is standardized now (maybe it's always been that way, I don't know). Through most of my school days, I just slept through most of the classes, and would still set the curve on all the tests. It wasn't exactly 'stimulating' for me, so I was just bored the whole time. At least I made a lot of friends and met a lot of girls

I too,was public schooled and I am sure I am damaged from the experience. I am just glad Common Core did not exit when I went to school. I would be dumber than I already am.

Each system has its pros and cons.

Public: The education is standardized and your education is recognized at legitimate. If anything it shows that you must show up on time and do your work, just like a job. But the quality is suspect and the schools are not safe in a lot of places.

Private: Your education is better and you have a routine. But there is more pressure to get the grades since someone is paying for it. And private schools have a habit of messing up kids.

Home School: I disagree with it completely. Your education has to be approved by the state and you might as well go to public school. Home Schooling is a joke and it makes kids very awkward.

I was home schooled. When I went to school, I could not work at my own pace and other children often bully me. My teacher didn't care too much and I was started to get into fights. My mom eventually took me out.

I went to Public school until the second half of tenth grads, then I had to go to online school because I had bad grades at the public school.
Personally I was more content with the online school, I also got more done, I mean they weren't the best at things like, caring if you turned in your assignments, but still it was definetely easier to focus.

I have always been attending a public school. I'm grateful for it because most of my friends I met while they were in class with me Also, I feel like I'm learning a lot from it which is pretty crucial. I wouldn't ever think about homeschooling or a private school unless I have a serious bullying situation that the school can't do enough about. Being bullied makes it difficult to do well in class and focus on what the teacher is saying.

I go to public school. But I was home schooled sort of until I went to Pre-K. I didn't go to day cares or other type of school. Just 1 year of Pre-K at a regular school then regular K and up.

I do public. I'd hate it anywhere else, really. I need the social interaction and I feel like a private school wouldn't be enough.

The only thing is that the Miami-Dade education system sucks really badly, but I mean my grades are really good so whatever.

I did homeschooling. Theoretically.

What I actually did was called Cyberschooling. Where there is a school site and you are given homework one there and you can go to live classes, teachers are there to teach you that weeks lessons. From experience, I normally got a homework/lesson/quiz a day and each week would have its own thing it would revolve around. Like Poetry or Micro organisims. I also stayed home, so thats why I consider it Homeschooling.

School was okay. It wasnt great, it wasnt that... bad...

I ended up going to a total of 4 different schools since 4th grade and I just graduated this year, I ended up graduateing early.

My only main issue is I developed Social Anxiety from all of this. Sure, there was a fix for that. They put what they called "Centers" all over the state, but I live in the middle of nowhere making it take atleast an hour to get to one. And the closest one barely had anyone at it.

Back in the day, I would have voted for Public Schools, but now I'm not so sure with what I've seen and heard about the way the schools are run nowadays. All I know is that I can still tell who was homeschooled and who was not, and who likely went to a private school as opposed to a public school. (Yes, I do confirm my guesses with the students.) This goes for university-level students as well. In my opinion, each system has its advantages and disadvantages, and rather than just bashing one system and calling it a failure, people could try to take their own or their child's learning styles into consideration when they are trying to decide on the most appropriate or suitable options. If you want to strengthen your social skills, you'll likely need to attend a public school or private school to understand how diverse people really are, as well as how open or narrow-minded some of them can be. Learning how to deal with mob mentality is not something that is usually taught at home, and terrible as it may sound, many of those experiences will make you stronger or tougher in one way or another... or more fearful and distrustful of others, depending on which crowd you end up joining. (For instance, the people that can manage to either find or create a good group will generally be more successful in excelling academically.)

Public Schools-Are approved and certified institutions, but are largely a freaking joke. And trust me,some of the damage in HS never fades completely.

Private Schools-Are approved and certified as well, but tend to be run better, but kind of leave the kids unable to deal with various peoples and backgrounds, they also cost an arm and a leg.

Home Schools-Are supposedly approved, but I do not think that will look good on a job application or resume. Not to mention a lot of home schooled kids turn out to be maladjusted.
