mastergame : I guess you're right about them trying to hard to like a game, as they played through multiple Sonic games because of the popularity the videos gained. I remember them trash talking Sonic Adventure a lot, until the audience got frustrated, which led them to cut down the trash talk. They openly discussed this in the videos, so they newer acted in secret.

I don't know where you are from, so it could be different in different cultures. But when I talk with close friends, there's often a kind of jokingly rudeness.
A stupid example (not a real example!):
Me: *Does something stupid*
Friend: "you're stupid"
Me: "your face is stupid"

It's not really meant to be hurtful, but kind of an effect of knowing each other good enough to understand if they're serious or not.
(I don't know much about sociology, so I'm not sure if the explanation is 100% correct.)

I don't think don't think their behavior is fake at least. You learn a lot about them if you watch most of their videos, and Arin is a big fan of this kind of humor, and like other works using the same humor. He often mentions Rick and Morty (which is a comedy series on adult swim with pretty rude and explicit humor) and has recently been hanging out a bit with the creator of the show, since Arin voiced a character in the latest Rick and Morty episode. If you don't enjoy "Rick and Morty" or "South Park", I can fully understand why you don't like this channel.

But if we're talking about rudeness against the viewers, or other people, I guess there is things they've said that could be found hurtful. But from what I've experienced, they always excuse themselves if they find something they said rude. (Even if it's about a famous person)

There's one thing they did though, which I found really irresponsible, which was when they used a walkthrough while playing Sonic Adventure. They got mad because it didn't help them, as it didn't give detailed answers what to do, and they joked about the audience sending the writer hate. They didn't think it would matter or reach him, as the walkthrough was maybe 10 years old or something (I don't remember, but it was really old), but the writer ended up receiving a bunch of hate anyway.
They ended up removing that video and re-uploaded a censored version, but it was still pretty dumb. Arin should know how the internet works by now, as he has a very long history with it.

About the commercial. Yes, it was pretty horrible. But honestly, if you watch their commercial for their own t-shirts, you'll find out all their commercials are awkward and terrible. There's even blooper reels, proving that they're actually really bad at acting. I actually think it were the clients who made a bad decision when choosing Game Grumps to do the commercial.

I see why you don't like them now, though. Thanks for taking the time to give me a detailed explanation! ^^

I feel that some of these comments are a little unfair here, especially when it comes to the topic of being "sellouts" just because they do commercials, or do things for paid promotion. Look, a lot of these YouTubers started from doing this as a hobby, and then turned into doing it for a living. You are expecting them to do things that are paid to do, but the good quality YouTubers will not forget of their fans and who they are trying to appeal to. You've got to understand that they are people as well, and they want to only do videos and not trying to do videos while having 2 other jobs to support them. Making videos also take a lot of time and planning. This might be different with video game videos since it's easy to pump them out in large volumes episodically, but there needs to be planning and appeal to their fans in order for it to happen. You can say a youtube channel is bad because of their bad content, their moving away from the content that they are used to doing, or because of their bad method of making videos, but to say a YouTube channel is bad because they do commercials or do things that companies pay them to do is just unfair.

(P.S.: Whoever said Did you Know Gaming and Game Theory are owned by the same person needs to do a little bit of fact checking, because that is not true.)

Oh boy I can list so many channels on here... But I'll stick to the ones that bug me the most. I will say though that I must be in the minority when saying that I really like gamegrumps, they're my favorite let's players (and one of the very few let's play channels I watch overall as I'm not a big fan of let's play videos in general anymore) and I disagree with calling them or many other channels sellouts. Seems like doing anything commercial nowadays will get a channel labeled as sellouts which in my opinion is kind of stupid seems like a lot of people don't know what a sellout is. Furthermore it's not like they're charging you to watch their videos.

But moving on

Watchmojo

It's a channel that makes top 10 videos which is unoriginal enough on its own but couple that with doing sickening things like top 10 people who died doing *insert activity here* and just clearly running out of ideas. What's even worse is they don't even research the things they do make top 10s on (I know because I used to be a dolt who watched them) I mean mistakes do happen but putting digimon scenes in a Pokemon top 10, reeeeeeeeeeeeallly? Their videos are nothing but clickbait. I could really stick all the other top10 channels in here as well but Watchmojo is by far the worst offender.

Wasabiproductions

Out of all the channels the one I find to be the worst. Is supposedly a "comedy" channel consisting of a duo who makes challenge videos (ugh) and comedy videos but there's literally nothing funny about they just speak using a loud voice, using goofy sound effects, fart sounds and jokes that aren't even jokes, like seriously not even bad jokes. Their audience judging from the comment section of their videos (they have several million subscribers by the way) doesn't even seem old enough to have youtube accounts.

Raywilliamjohnson

Last time I checked consists entirely of the show "equals three" which really juxg is a guy leeching of the success of various viral videos with commentary that isn't funny, and lots of overused jokes or just plain bad stereotypical ones. Doesn't have the popularity it used to but is still fairly popular so included it because of that.

That's all for now might add more if I can muster the motivation to do so...

I dare ANY one of you to call David a sellout for doing ads then, like the Game Grumps and many more of these Youtubers people are pretty much flaming? I fully understand if they are not good. However, if one or another group uses a method to make a little cash, I see no harm no foul. It promotes more than one good thing then! Also, most of the time Grumps just promote things they support, or things they are affiliated with I thought, like the fact that Dan is in the group he advertises. That and if you use a certain code for a site you actually get a free month, and there's nothing wrong with that. Clearly I see not a sellout, but an opportunist! An opportunist that can become us and them! So I won't say a negative thing about the professional Tubers, I don't like the one's who are NOT good at it, and have like 20 views playing megaman in mom's house thinking that they'll be the next Pewdiepie without doing the ads. TYVM!

its really a sellout when they sponsor something which is is not connected to the channel. an example would be a trading card game, you will find it unnecessary when the person sponsor something like racing game for the xbox or psp for 1 or 2 minutes. what does a racing game have to do anything with trading card, most people who are trading card gamers dont even care about racing cars game, its too rushy and not really fit for them.

another example is a toy sponsorship in the middle of a life video, it wont appear welcoming because it interrupts the life video and toys are not really fit for teenagers (ever). there is no way a teenanger would go out there, buy the toy (unless its a collectors item), and play them has it was meant to be. thats not very teenage style and also most of them cant drive to the store just yet.

last example is something that really did happen, the person was talking and then stops in the middle of the video to give out his sponsorship video. it was about beer, now understand that this channel is aim at teens or young adults (15-25). they got so much hate for it, many of them are under the age to even drink in their state law, long story short video got taken down but return after his account was almost remove. he cant remove the video, his contract with the beer company makes sure of that.

the definition of sellout stands true:

ˈselˌout
noun
plural noun: sellouts

1. the selling of an entire stock of something, especially tickets for an entertainment or sports event.

2. a sale of a business or company.

since an ad is considered a sale (company buying a youtube time on a video) and since youtubers who go into monetized channel is consider a individual business because they are making money than a free channel.

My list is:

Pewdiepie
Tobuscus
New GamerGrumps (because let's be for real: ever since jon left, arin has been a huge a$$hole AND neither are as funny as when Jon was there)
Arin's Girlfriend's channel (I don't remember the name, but I tried watching her play Monster Hunter 4 and I couldn't get 2 minutes in without quitting)
Obviously Smosh and anything by them.

And that's pretty much my list. I'm probably forgetting a few.

Any channel that relies on being ear-shatteringly loud and obnoxious to get a laugh from their audience. There's a few prominent ones in this thread, namely PewDiePie and Game Grumps. I know they have a lot of fans for a reason, but I just can't get into watching a video when I have to keep on messing with the volume because it's so loud that it disturbs people around me, and it's especially bad when I have to turn the volume back up to be able to properly hear anything else in the video.

If you want a more specific example, here's one:

DSPGaming:
If I tried to compile a list of every single thing wrong with him, it'd take up several paragraphs. Let's just say that he's annoying, unfunny, lazy, and unprofessional. I don't understand how he has a sizable and loyal fanbase.

I started hating TheMysteriousMrEnter awhile ago. For those aren't in the know, he does reviews of cartoons in probably the worst possible manner, constantly acting like they need to fit a single mold and not do anything bad to the main characters because that's bad story telling, I guess. He also tends to get very, uh, "passionate" about a lot of things that don't really matter and flips out over it.

He's also dedicated one or two videos who how someguy was dumb for not liking the third season of My Little Pony for not being funny enough, and according to a Encyclopedia Dramatica article I read awhile back, he's done pretty much the same to other people who disagreed with him.

On another note, I didn't really seen a rise in quality on his channel, his mic was still sucky and his editing has actually gotten WORSE! I remember in one video where he repeated the same scene in his review over and over, ironically talking about how lazy the show was.

But what REALLY made me stopped giving a crap about his videos is when he dedicated a good chunk of a video talking about how he hates talking to his fans, and that his fans requesting shows to review makes him hate his work or something like that.

Oh, and one time he kept talking how much he hated Spongebob writers while also totally giving away their contact information, leading to a massive flood of flame and spam towards then. Classy!

Most of the popular accounts. I notice they start out well, they're good and all, and then once they either switch to being a YT Partner and monetise, they:

Unsubscribe from nearly all users
Remove playlists with videos not by them

Their fanbases are idiotic also, it really shows most of them are 5-year-old kids who make stupid vlogs and can't criticise or favour a game properly, bash anyone else without the opinion or other such idiocy.

A specific worst is Stampy though, I don't mind any of his earlier videos, but when he started being an idiot that's when his channel went completely downhill.

(I'm also surprised no one has said my account, there's some weird trash on there in particular)
Most of the popular accounts. I notice they start out well, they're good and all, and then once they either switch to being a YT Partner and monetise, they:

Unsubscribe from nearly all users
Remove playlists with videos not by them
Remove all their likes

Luigi442wii : i knew a youtuber named Woodysgamertag who was a huge cod commentator back in the day, i remember he did crazy stuff like charge his fans $200 or $400 to be on his friends list on xbox but they werent guaranteed to stay on the friends list. All these popular youtubers have something scummy behind all of em

TristanTehGamer1 :

I actually used to watch Woody, the unexceptional gamer! I had no idea he did that -if I did I honestly would have stopped watching him. I stopped watching ReviewTechUSA specifically because he ripped off a smaller YouTuber out of 200$ and the reasoning was "because life isn't fair and he should learn that."

I never went on to be a keyboard warrior, I just unsubbed and got my fill somewhere else. I do not at all blame YouTubers for wanting to make some extra money, but when they do it in a manner that is just unethical (charging 200 bucks to be on a friends list for example), I don't want to support them.

Anyways, I wouldn't say that Markiplier is a bad channel, but more that I find his content boring. He tries too hard to be like Pewds.

I will say that I think Ali-A and TmArtn are strictly money hungry and don't care about the quality of their content. It's a shame, there are smaller youtubers out there putting in 110% effort for the same content that will never be recognized because people like tmartn and Ali-A just kind of ride the lazy train to success.

Also, I used to love drift0r, but he is becoming money hungry too. His in-depth series is full of errors, and you can easily get all the info from Reddit that he talks about - except you get it from Reddit literally the day after the game comes out. So he just kind of acts like he "tests" these weapons, when in reality all he does is read off of a chart and stretch it for 4 minutes per video. He is even doing "God Weapons" and "Supply drop openings" now, and is the reason I ultimately recently unsubbed from him. He is becoming just another lazy train YouTuber.

I know Pewdiepie gets a TON of hate from basically everyone, but at least he releases constant original content - and you can tell he puts a ton of effort into every video. Whether you like or dislike his content or not, he is definitely putting in the work and that is more than I can say about a lot of bigger Youtubers.

Skilledtree : Woody was a channel i liked back in cods prime, hell that podcast hes in wasnt bad either at the time. ReviewTech is such a money hungry dude as well, he always has a crap load of sponsors and one of his recent ones was a scam site selling $100 PDF files about internet safety. Markiplier is one of those guys who appeals to children but tries to hard to be someone who hes not. It seems all the cod youtubers like Ali-A, Tmartn, Driftor are all money hungry, it is hard to find a cod youtuber who isnt money hungry but i think ali-a and tmartn get paid by activision to promote cod. Lol i saw a old wingsofredemption vid calling out tmartn for having little to no playtime in cod even though tmartn treats cod like its the only game he plays.

TristanTehGamer1 : Yeah, there's been a lot of controversy going on about him. And it doesn't help that he just keeps on dragging out the drama as long as he possibly can while trying to use it to gain sympathy.

Honestly, there's some others that I forgot to post in my first post. Because of that, I'm gonna make another post to list them here.

Zoopsoul: He's a very small YouTuber who closed his channel years ago, but he still deserves to be on this list. Basically, his "talkthroughs" were just him playing different games terribly while commentating over them in his annoying, whiny, nasally voice. It didn't help that he was overly loud and loved making vulgar sex and toilet jokes at every possible opportunity. Somehow, despite all this and the fact that he recorded all his videos by plopping a digital camera in front of his TV, he managed to get thousands of people watching him. Don't ask me how.

xFREEDO: Another COD commentator. What sets this guy apart is his utterly obnoxious attitude towards people that he disagrees with. The best example of this is his Adblock video, where not only does he throw tons of personal insults at people who disagree with him in the video, but then he does it in the comments towards negative commenters. Now, he's transitioned mostly towards making vlogs about politics, but they seem to be pretty much the same thing, just without the COD footage.

ReviewTechUSA: Honestly, although some of his videos aren't completely terrible, he seems to care more about money than he does about his friends and fanbase. As mentioned in the thread before, he stole $200 from a smaller YouTuber and then tried to pin the blame on his victim for trusting him, and then there's also all the sponsorships and clickbait. If you want a YouTube whore, this is it. Also, he doesn't actually review tech.

Thunderbirds101TV: Now, this one's not a YouTube whore, and isn't a terrible person. The only reason I would put him here is because of the videos he produces...and boy, do they warrant a spot here. His main series is "Microsoft Sam Reads Funny Windows Errors," and it's exactly what it sounds like.

Now, that wouldn't be terrible in and of itself, but he has literally nothing original up his sleeve when it comes to the writing! He uses all of his main jokes in the first few episodes, and then every episode after that has literally the exact same jokes, sometimes almost word-for-word. And he has 17 seasons of this! Also, he managed to start a trend of people making their own "Errors" videos, and as far as I can tell, they're not an improvement.

Now, this might seem like a weird list, but it's just a few YouTube channels that I feel aren't very good. I know there's going to be some people who disagree with me, but that's okay.

NovemberJoy : i listen to Freedo's podcast called Triggered  and god hes an ass and he contributes nothing to the show even the others on the podcast in older episodes joke about him basically being there only for the fact that he created the LagCompPodcast.
I actually watch Thunder's channel when im very bored but each episode seems the same and holy hell its crazy that he has 17 seasons but let be honest the seasons are very short. It baffles me that ReviewTech has a channel he just comes off as an a-hole in his videos and a very poor businessman.

Tobuscus. He's like that stereotypical 12-year-old gamer that has this annoying af voice and likes to pretend he's funny by yelling out stupid things and only plays XBOX games and Minecraft and Happy Wheels. Except he's 30.
