Overall=8
This is a fun game and designed as a bit of a quarter eater. It is in the style of progress with defending yourself in all and any direction. You are Robocop,tasked with riding Old Detroit of crime by OCP. You will punch,shoot and at times destroy drums,wooden boxes (which can contain a power up),and traps while shooting a seemingly endless amount of thugs from simple punks that punch you (?) to bosses that are usually an ED-209 that is beefed up. Other times you will be given a bonus stage,where you must shoot stationary and moving targets.
Graphics=8
The sprites are large and detailed and give you a fair advancement of the movie. The boss ED-209 is huge and is done well,even if it just moves back and forth. You can see your objectives and it is a clean look.
Sound=8
The soundtrack is done well and I believe sampled from the film,the effects are good,especially Robo's Auto-9 sound. You will also love the digitized voice of Robo at the end of a stage.
Addictiveness=7
There is not a lot of variety in the missions,just blow away the bad guys,and proceed. But it is done well and is on par with other games of the era. But a lot of us,myself included,loved Robocop,and dropped in many quarters to proceed.
Story=7
The game is fairly accurate to the movie,stopping street crime,infiltrating a hideout,saving the president of OCP. Add the iconic music and you want to kick some criminal behind as Robocop.
Depth=5
No real depth,but then again,neither did most games of the era. Just walk to the right and take out scum,occasionally taking stairs and elevators to proceed and the occasional hostage to be rescued.
Difficulty=8
This game starts relatively easy at first,you punch criminals once and they die,then you shoot all over the place to reach the bad guys. Then they introduce more enemies and more robust enemies that take a ton of shots to destroy. Your punch is strong,but you are limited to right in front of you. If you liked Robocop,you will enjoy helping him make Old Detroit a safer place.
