Overall=8

This game is a fun and good god it can be unforgiving. You start off in a subway station surrounded by several white shirt wearing goons,2 Hawaiian shirt guys,and a biker look-a-like for a boss. The controls are decent and are a mix of Double Dragon 1 and 2. You punch forward and kick backwards. It is an interesting control setup,so you have to remember to orient yourself before you strike. I do believe it was ported to several consoles at the time.

Graphics=8

Considering the game was released in 1986,the graphics are great. The sprites are a good size and show good detail in how they move. The game tries to make it seem gritty with the trash cans and graffiti when you start the game. It succeeds on this count.

Sound=7

The music is decent and the sound effects are fun,especially when you knock one of them out. I loved the actual speech when the boss beats the snot out of you. "Get lost,punk!" I could see someone remixing the soundtrack for nerdcore.

Addictiveness=7

This game is fun and the enemies will take quite a few hits before they are knocked down and out. The bosses are a challenge and the gang likes to surround you or double team you,like in a real fight. One loves to hold you while his buddy decks you.

Story=5

It is your usual story,you are walking to the right and beating up thugs. Nothing new but this was the 80's,we had sequels and a me too mentality. If it ain't broke,don't fix it,right?

Depth=5

The fighting is decent,although I wish they had a more of a Double Dragon size move set,like headbutts,elbow strikes,and such.

Difficultly=10

The game is borderline sadistic with the difficulty,the gangs love to surround you,or double team you and the bosses can take down your health quickly and you cannot continue. But most of us will just lick our wounds,pop in another credit and say, "Let me at them." If you have the spirit,this game is a good choice.

Pretty good reivew. I played this on the NES. Does this version feature the maze at the last stage? That thing was sadistic.

I did play the NES version,it is fairly lackluster in comparison. I do not know about the last stage,the arcade version kept kicking the ever living snot out of me.

Nice work again. Simple, neatly written, and straight to the point. I also enjoy that it feels like you're reminiscing about games you remember from back then rather than just sounding purely technical and boring.

Keep on working on your style, man. I look forward to seeing some 500+ word count reviews so I can feature them.

Thank you again,Eirinn. I do remember those days fondly as a young boy,popping in quarters and getting lost in a digital fantasy. All I needed then was plenty of quarters,a big fountain drink,and some time and fighting spirit.

I will work up to the elusive 500 word review so everyone may read and judge my thoughts on a game.

I try to write them with ease of reading and short enough so a person may skim them and review it,whether it be good or bad.

I do remember playing this in the arcade. Was a fun game, although I have much more experience with the NES version.

Great job on the review! Simple, entertaining and informative. I look forward to reading more from you in the future.

Thank you for the review Jordanv78. I never tried either version when they were first available. It is fun in a frustrating way.
