When you see students that are new to your school, are you excited about it?

For me, it depends on how well-behaved the new students are. Sometimes I meet students that are new to the school, and they behave horribly so I'm not too happy about seeing them XD

However, when the new students are well-behaved, I'm excited to see them especially if I'm sitting near them. I'm able to be a good role model for them and maybe even get to talk to them and help them out. Helping people is one thing I'm dying to do during the school year and I don't get to do it very often.

Quite a few first years when they come to my school think they own the school. Try to act cool and big which I think is very funny to see. The older you get the less relevant the lower years are. When i was in 2nd year I found the new first years very annoying (doesn't help that they are the worst year of the entire school even though they are supposed to be role models) but now when I look at the younger years I don't pay much attention to them honestly. Though that will change as we now have vertical classes which we go to for 15 minutes every day just before break time so that the seniors can talk to the 1st years so I will be seeing them more than I would normally. I think on the first day they will be very nervous as I was a little bit intimidated when I was in first year. Sorry for the long reply. I wasn't expecting to type this much.

DylanMcKaig : I don't mind long replies at all. I often make long replies to threads and I don't mind reading other people's long replies. Sometimes my replies go over 200 words XD

Anyways, I've noticed the same happening with my school, last year I was one of the first-year kids and most of my peers were acting like they owned the school or made the rules. I remember from one of your past posts that you aren't in the same country as me, so it's not just that way in your country, it's that way in mine too

I was pretty nervous for my first year as well but I still had a great time and this year should be even better.

Yeah I think most schools have kids that act that way. Again it is quite amusing to see but they can be quite annoying as well.

DylanMcKaig: I think you're right about that XD It's especially amusing when the kids are caught but they make up stupid and crazy lies that the teachers know aren't true.

It's also amusing to see when the students act like they are in charge of each other! Bossing the other students is the teacher's job, so when the kids try to do it it's hilarious!

It would have to depend on their personalities. I wouldn't like mean or boastful new students.

I am always excited to see the new students! I love to introduce them to the school, the students, and everything else! I don't know why, but it's just something in me.

I don't get excited when I see old students.

i hate new students. They always look nice at first but turn out to take over the class and be it's boss and be the biggest most feared bully around.
sigh ... i hate school(although i'm smart)

maguc : Me neither. Most of them are students I was hoping to not have to deal with much anymore.

haitamchouiekh : I've noticed that's what usually happens. Some of them are probably new students because they were too much trouble in their previous school.

I'm not particularly delighted to meet new students, however, I have no reason to like or dislike them upon their first day entering. One trend I typically tend to notice is that within a few days to a week, the once "nice looking" new student starts to hang out with the wrong crowd and they eventually become just as, if not, more so obnoxious than the rest of the student body. It has happened countless times, so fast in fact, it's almost unsettling. It was a different experience for me when a new student was introduced during my elementary school years, and even early in middle school. I suppose the reason for this is because, students haven't yet established "social groups" or cliques at this point. It's different now because by middle school and high school years, new students have choices as to which common archetype they would like to become.

Strangely enough, I have a somewhat instinctive feeling as to which new students will turn out to hang out with the wrong people, and which ones I can consider friend material. One of my closest friends was a new student back in middle school, so I guess you can never really know how they'll turn out unless you observe and interact with them.

Razor-987 : I usually have a feeling about which new students will turn out good or bad as well. Most of those new students I guessed would be rebellious, and they were.

There's only a couple new students I've met that turned out to be good students. They're both shy and one of them has been my friend for a while now. She was always hanging out with the right people from what I've seen. However, the other one sometimes hangs out with the wrong people. Maybe I'll find out this school year if she's still a good student.

It's always exciting for me whenever I get to meet new students. It's surprisingly rare they ever come around, particularly since my neighbourhood is a beacon for immigrants, but in a way that adds to the experience of meeting them.

For example, in Grade 8 I met a new guy from NYC. He was a pretty cool guy and we were fast friends. We even went to the same high school later, so that's great.

Well I haven't been in school for as long as some of you have been alive, but I did always like seeing new students, was always someone interesting to talk to....a possible new friend. Bonus if the new student was a pretty girl ;-)

Jordanv78 : I agree with that! I met a new student this year and since he was new and didn't have a lot of friends we had a lot of interesting things to say to each other. Now we're friends

I met 2 new pretty girl students in 8th grade and now they're both friends of mine, it's exciting and it sure feels like a bonus XD

I haven't seen much of it myself, but apparently some of my friends have witnessed some freshmen trying to act all big and tough to juniors or seniors, which I think would be kind of funny to see, mostly because of the fact that most freshmen are about half the size of upperclassmen, at least at my school.

I'm not in school anymore so I can't say though when I was still in school I liked to see new students. Always someone new to talk too. If I could mention I like to meet new co-workers at my job but the only time I don't like it is when I find out they are really lazy and don't want to do their job..

Nope x3 last year tho i was the new student and people gave me weird looks and some started a rumor of me being a satanist over my metallica shirt xP
