The thread title and description says it all. This is my attempt at making a large thread with many replies. But... it probably won't work. Well, anyway, I'll start.

I've only beat the original The Legend of Zelda on NES, though I did beat The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past with glitches. So what am I leading to? The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is really, really overrated.

I think my opinion might be unpopular enough to qualify--keep in mind, it is only an opinion.  I don't like Final Fantasy. Or for that matter, almost any RPG. It's strange and somewhat disappointing for me in all honesty. I always loved Dungeons and Dragons and other dice-based RPGs that I grew up playing. So, for example when the first Dragon Warrior came out I was excited. But for one thing, life is too short for grinding. I can handle it for a little bit, but not the exact same thing over and over. I can do Dynasty Warriors for example, but you're actually running around and fighting. Not just taking turns attacking or whatever. The other thing is, for that type of game, I prefer it to be more open-ended as far as controlling the outcome. I don't want to play as a character in a story. I want to make my own character and story. So when I see a question like 'what is the saddest death in a video game?' I have to say...me?

All the retro Sonic games are really boring and plain. OH WOW YOU RUN AND GET RINGS GOTTA GO FAST!! At least Mario had good level design.

All the other Sonic games suck too except for the Sonic Adventure series. Those were great.

The fact that most of what Nintendo brings out is either a gimmick sub-par or the same platformer with one new power up and a different aesthetic. 

I'd say that's a pretty unpopular gaming opinion as most of the people here seem to hail Nintendo as some sort of god... 

I mean people complain about the yearly sports games.. But Nintendo do the same thing with Mario.. They literally slap him on anything to try and make it sell these days.

Petraplexity : Wow I thought I was the only one who had that opinion and was vocal about it, I really do find OoT overrated, hence why I made a review saying how overrated it is lol.

I mean the game isn't outright bad, but it certainly in no way deserves to be called the best game of all time or even be considered for it in my own humble opinion

Actually I find Zelda games in general overrated, not saying they're bad but they're like the most praised franchise out there, and barely anyone criticises the games, and call every installment new and innovative though it really is the same thing over and over for the most part.

I also just really cannot get into MOBA games at all. I've played League of Legends and it was fun... For a little while then it's mostly just repetive, I suppose I could kind of see why some people may like it but it isn't really my kind of thing.

I have an unpopular gaming opinion that Digimon is a huge knock-off of Pokemon.

Zlinqx, I don't know if you watch Game Grumps, but Egoraptor has the same opinion. That's the only other person I know who talked about that opinion on the Internet.

Ferdinand, I mostly agree with your opinion. The only RPG I like is Pokemon.

Final Fantasy VIII was the best one of the series until Final Fantasy X.

Despite, yes, a confusing and generally uninteresting plot, it had the best soundtrack ever, very addicting sidequests and astounding cinematics (I am still in awe before the intro CGI). Characters actually had human forms (rather than being "pixelated Lego Blocks") and their movements were fairly realistic.

My unpopular gaming opinion is that the Donkey Kong Country series is overrated and has too many games. I don't hate the series, but I feel like the SNES games in particular aren't as fantastic as many say. I liked the games, but I don't think they're as good as most people say they are. Same goes for the newer ones, though I did really enjoy Tropical Freeze.

Final Fantasy 7 is way over rated not only does the game have horrible translation (not the games fault I know but still) it also has a confusing story that takes 5 million games to make it make sense, I also think for the time it came out the graphics don't look as good as they could compare it to games like Parasite Eve which is a PS 1 square soft game which is also a rpg which also looks a crap ton better. And (I personally think) the magic system kind of sucks its kind of like FF6 but FF6 did it 10 times better, kind of spoilers (not really) I don't really know why everyone was so attached to Arith its not like she really did anything (herself, you know without the help of you know who) in the story that I really remember, it also might just be me but the part of the game where you and Arith have fun in the golden saucer at night was a stupid excuse to try to get me to care about her. So ya that's my quick opinion on Final Fantasy 7

I just can't get into games like DOTA 2, or Clash of the Clans. I just got....so bored. And it's boring to watch too. Also there is literally nothing on the Xbox that I want to play. Absolutely none of the games look interesting to me at all.

Petraplexity : Didn't see this until now since you didn't summon me but yeah, I watched that episode of sequelitis, It was pretty funny and I completely agreed with most of the points he brought up, I'm a fairly big fan of both Egoraptor and the Gamegrumps in general.

I love the GTA franchise and all of its games, but I never enjoyed playing GTA IV. The story never worked for me and it felt to bland going around Liberty City. The dlc was amazing and was better than the original story line.

ThanatosUnraveld : I completely agree about the graphics, and I want to add about the music too. It was such a setback from even Final Fantasy IV, which had some realistic-sounding tracks. But I disagree for the story. Sure, it takes a long time before we actually know Cloud's real story, but it psychological undertones were done quite well.

gamerforlifeforever2 : agreed. I remember an old gaming magazine saying it was the best game of all time, saying that all other games will be dull and uninteresting. While it was graphically impressive, it was just another platform game.

janus : Ya I agree that the mind screwing was done really good but the one of my biggest gripes of the story is that they that And personally I think Final Fantasy 6 has on of the best soundtrack but I have yet to play FF4 so it might change once I play it, you never know!

Superman games are just horrible.

I think that Shadow the Hedgehog was one of the best 3D instalments in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. The missions were fun, and the gameplay much better than Sonic Adventure 2's walker levels and even treasure hunting in my opinion. Shadow had speed in every level, the mission objectives were a good mix up that you could choose optionally if you wanted too.

The story wasn't near as jumbled as people said it was. True, it was trying to be more open ended than it should be, but it isn't that hard to find reasons for it's current state, and even the Shadow android ordeal. It made sense in context with Sonic Heroes and evaluation of what may have happened in between the games. (President's picture?)

I find Mario Galaxy really lacking in the powerups area and it took a long time for me to accept what the game was- ten times linear than Super Mario 64.

I wish Zelda Games included army battles and made you fight dragons in Hyrule field.

I consider Wind Waker a great betrayal to the series, the legacy MM and OOT started and step away from progress. TP is good, but I feel like it needed more on the sidequest department. I also find Zelda games really easy and lacking on the combat level. The AI is far to easy to exploit, or maybe I just played the N64 games too much. I think the sheild is way to powerful in sword combat. There needs to be a move that enemies can perform to grab through it.

Sonic Heroes graphic Style should have become the standard for Sonic Games graphically, and more games should have took place in that world.

Sonic 06 had great potential, and Mephiles was a good character. All the story needs to do is remove time travel, and possibly Elise. Just don't make her kiss Sonic, okay?

The G.U.N. Commander needs to return.

I hate LTTP because it is a better game than Ocarina of Time. But OOT is a cut down version of a much bigger concept. The same might be said about TP, though at a much lessar scale.

Star Fox should be one of Nintendo's main focus. It has so many opportunities that it's other series do not have. Elements in story, character, science, drama. They could do so much with it, yet they do so little. It's disappointing little. Hoping Star Fox Zero will be good.

Also, villains, and other heroes should be playable in Zelda. We need a real Zelda war game other than Hyrule Warriors where enemies don't just stand there and you have P vs P.

Hoo boy, I could list so many...

First off: (opinion) Minecraft is dreadfully boring. I just don't get it. : You mine...and...craft. Maybe it's beyond me in it's simplicity?

I don't like Final Fantasy, or most turn based RPGs. They're slow, almost always unbalanced, rarely use logic (how does this ring make me faster?), the grinding system is death by boredom for me, and at the pinnacle of boring RPGs sits Pokémon as king because it's the same old grind constantly for the purpose of getting a badge so I can grind more for another badge.

Finally, GTA is a disgusting IP.



Unpopular enough? xD I mean no offense to fans, I just figured this thread was asking for a gloves-off approach to game opinions so I gave mine. By all means, feel free to talk about how dumb and boring Harvest Moon is. lol Everyone has an unpopular opinion...I hope.

My two picks would be all Zelda games excluding the original and Twilight Princess, and the Final Fantasy series.

For Zelda, the games I didn't exclude feel too.....plain and uneventful for me to really acknowledge. At least the first game had a charming simplicity to it and Twilight Princess injected loads of original ideas.

For Final Fantasy I don't know, I really just don't have a lot of interest for RPG's in general. Even with original mechanics and features between games they all feel the same at the core.

I think that Super Mario 64, while historically relevant, should no longer be considered a great platformer. It has aged very poorly.

Ferdinand : I can definitely understand that. When compared to tabletop RPGs, video game RPGS are just sub-par because you're not really roleplaying. In a tabletop you have a million different ways to approach a problem, but in video games you only have 1, combat, often turn-based and unimaginative.


janus : I also think that FF8 is a solid Final Fantasy game. I think it might be better than any other 3d Final Fantasy game. Despite being the most popular, I'd say that FF7 is probably the weakest 3d Final Fantasy game.
