09 - Sunburn Islands - Completed (Aug 8th - 11th)
10 - Spellbound Caves - Completed in a week (July 2nd - 8th).
11 - Lethamyr - completed June 15th
12 - Inferno Mines - Started Aug 15th - Day 7 - Finished moving a bunch of stuff (but not all of it) from intersection 2 base to the victory monument. It was simply taking way too long even using the ender chest and carrying a load of stuff myself. It was almost like 2 trips in 1. Still, I left stuff behind that was useless to me.

After that I went back to intersection 3 to take on Dumb Blast Zisteau Cavern. I knew the reference even before it got explained because I've watched Zisteau's super hostile playlists so I know all about that one. I of course did not do so well in this area. I died 3 times trying to take the center building in the room. 3 Zistykin spanwers did not do me any favors. However I managed to do it and am now at 14 deaths. I decided to clear out this room right away because of all the stuff that was in it. I grabbed an extra enchanting table and anvils and all the iron and what not. After finishing up with that (3 or 4 trips worth of stuff) I noticed that there was TNT inside the building. I decided it would be fun to set it off. What I didn't really think about was the tiny catwalk I had to run along to get away. Well, I attached a picture of the aftermath and the fact that I survived is amazing. You can see for yourself.

After this I went and grabbed the Death Sentence bow from the legit piggy temple (I jumped on to the roof). Then I went over to the glass domes (which were half blown up) and figured out where the wool was and dug down to it. Once I had the wool I was out of that area as fast as possible.

I hauled the wool back to the ender chest and intersection three and then went on to take on Salire Castle. This area was super easy. No spawners that I remember and mostly just jumping stuff. The Fleecy Mob boss at the top wasn't too tough either with a regen potion on me. I killed a couple and got the chest piece and the wool and then went back to the victory monument with both wools. I believe I'm done with wools in the regular areas now. I haven't even started trying to do the bonus achievements. I might save those for after I have all the wool and blocks or I might skip it. I haven't decided yet.

I did put together a solid iron armor set now that I've got the inferno mines portion of the map beaten. It's a bunch of unbreaking, protection pieces and feather falling on the boots. Nothing amazing but it should help me be more tanky in the later areas.

11 - Lethamyr - completed June 15th
12 - Inferno Mines - Started Aug 15th - Day 8 - Headed out into the Outer Inferno to get myself all set up. Headed out on the rail line but got stopped by all the cows. Killed most of them (I now have like 3 stacks of steak). I lit up the area on the way to the castle a little bit and killed a handful of monsters here and there. Not really a big deal so far.

I got to the castle and lit up the outside entrance area and took out the 2 fun boxes that were at each entrance. Headed inside and fought things and lit rooms up. Ended up getting knocked down a level in the course of my wanderings and noticed the fleecy box. I tried to fight my way into the room only to realize that it had at least 4 fun boxes and Zisteau spawners and I got knocked right back out of the room. I ran away and hid while I healed up (yay for armor). I made my way back into the same area but this time I came in from above. There were 2 more fun boxes on top of the room with like 4 fun boxes. I couldn't believe it. I bridged from one fun box to the 2nd in the top room and took them out. After taking out the 2nd fun box I realized that I was right on top of the fleecy box. I dug through the bottom of the fun box right into the fleecy box and grabbed the blue wool.

I couldn't believe how simple it was. I ran the wool back to the ender chest at the starting area and decided to head back and see what gear I could find (I found stacked water bottles and wanted more). I went up one of the towers I could find and collected mostly water bottles and enchanting bottles. I got to the top of that tower pretty quickly and realized there was an even bigger tower nearby. I decided (even though I could see spawners) to ender pearl over there. I managed to land and get inside the tower safely enough but I realized my mistake. Zisteau spawner below me and blaze spanwer above me. I collected what I could get quickly (2 diamond blocks being the main thing) and dumped it all in the ender chest that was up there. I then proceeded to try and clear the area out. Well, turns out Zisteaus can hit you REALLY far off of a tower and when you try and ender pearl away but you throw up instead of down you hit the ground before you teleport. So, I lost all of my iron gear that I had put together along with my sword, pick, battlesign etc. However, I had the area beat and I had 4 stacks of 60+ water bottles and more enchanting bottles and the wool so I was happy. And diamond blocks!

So, I started back at my base, put the wool on the monument and started building new gear. I put together level 30 enchants on the diamond gear and complemented it with unbreaking when needed. I also got a sharpness 5 diamond sword and efficiency 5 diamond pick. Along with the Death Sentence bow (which I added infinity to for 36 freakin levels) I was pretty geared up. I also made single stack fire resistance and regen potions to carry with me. I went back to the Outer Inferno and headed along the rail line again. I ran for a LONG time (several steaks worth of running) and got all the way to the next sign off shelter. I thankfully had been shifting all the way up the cavern so I didn't fall through the trap that was set up at the end of the rail line. I was paranoid about falling after almost getting shot off half way up that I wasn't messing around and was super paranoid. I'm greatful because I would have lost all the gear without even really using it.

Headed to the Vexian Gallery after that and found the brown wool. It was pretty easy and I only almost got covered by lava 2 or 3 times from creeper explosions. I put that in a nearby ender chest and decided to find another area to explore. I found the Zistonian Battlecry area and decided to go check that out. I'm not sure about anyone else but I found this area WAY too easy. I popped a fire resistance potion and along with the speed buff I got at the start I flew through the area. I cleared all the spawners except the last bunch which had too many for me to take out easily. I ender pearled over that one. I then ran into the shelter, grabbed the red wool and ran for my life. With fire resistance I took almost no damange (my armor helped a lot ) and I ender pearled a couple times to put distance between me and the mobs. And I was out with the red wool after that. Pretty straightforward honestly.

So, I just need to find the green wool area and then I can take on the Eternal Battle (which I found the teleporter for but didn't dare go near yet). I've made REALLY good progress in the last couple days because I've stopped lighting up the world and just went for the things I wanted to get to and then left.

11 - Lethamyr - completed June 15th
12 - Inferno Mines - Started Aug 15th - Day 9 - I found the entrance to the Blackened Archive and started making my way through that area. I brought the flamebringer level 2 with me and decided to start burning the place down. Every book I got near I lit on fire. Not sure if this helped for sure but it seemed to. I went from the bottom to the top in about 10 minutes and I used the same strategy in the library at the top (along with fire resistance and regen potions). Made the fire zombie guys basically harmless and everything else was simple. Once I got to the fleecy boss I just hit one into the wall until I could keep it in 1 spot and pound on it. I had at least 2 shooting me in the back while I did this but Notch apple makes you invulnerable

Put the green wool in the ender chest and then it was time to prepare for the final battle. I had stacks of 50+ of regen, strength, healing 2, and fire resistance. I also had 2 stacks of iron and pumpkins for iron golems. I had tons of torch supplies and all my best armor/sword/bow etc with me. The only reason I had any idea of what to expect is that I've seen Zisteau play the same area before so I knew what it would look like. However, seeing doesn't prepare you for the chaos that you deal with. I probably fought in there for an hour total. Took me 30-45 minutes (can't really remember how long) to get the wool. I did it cheaty style and hit the feets. I couldn't make enough headway any other way. Just too many mobs. I probably used 2 notch apples in the process of trying to clear things out and even with that there were just too many guys hitting me to be effective.

Once I had the wool it was a confusing run around the area tyring to find the portal place. Here again I knew what to expect but that didn't make hitting the portal with an ender pearl any easier. Still, I managed to get up there and went through the portal back into the Vexian Gallery. I hit myself with a fire resist potion once I found a wall to splash it against and then climbed out of the lava and went down the ladder towards the Zistonian Battle cry place so that IF I died from the poison/wither effect my stuff would survive. Thankfully I didn't have to worry about that (1 more notch apple ).

I also got the wool on the monument. Getting back is quite fast with all the teleporters. I ended with 15 deaths (death counter shows it) but I can't remember the 15th death. I think it was from Ember Castle but I don't see a total in that post.... either way I managed only 1 death in the last major area (last 5 wools). I'm pretty happy with that. I had great gear the whole time and a lot of potions and what not though and that helps.

I had so much time this weekend to play because my wife has been out of town or I wouldn't have come close to finishing this map so quickly. This map probably took twice as many hours as most of the others ones took. I'm going to need a break again from playing because these maps are becoming more and more epic.

I've got 1 left to do though! I'm pretty excited to be done. I've been doing these maps for the last 4 months and it will be amazing to finally finish Waking Up. I've heard that one is one of the hardest of them all. I should be on my game though after all the other maps I've done now.

So, I finally got around to starting this map and so far so good. I got through the first starting area just fine and collected all the various chests that were around. I got the are lit up and everything. I also met the exploding trees (they didn't get me) and got to the white wool and intersection 1. However, while I was looking at the white wool and fighting a skeleton when a creeper snuck up behind me and blew me up. Death #1 to not paying attention to the area behind myself.

After I got my stuff back (and thankfully I got it all) I got the white wool, lit up the 6 creeper spawners and got to the first intersection. I started building a mini-base there and brought all my stuff from spawn to that first intersection base.

Honestly, so far so good. I've heard that Waking Up is the hardest map of all and I believe it. Probably going to start working on the map again tonight.

Started intersection 1 today. I spent a bit of time farming trees so that I would have a good supply of wood for tools and possibly coal if I need it. Then I started to head into Grove of SSSShrooms. I think it is pretty obvious what I had to expect going into this area. However, what I did not expect was the creepers dropping from the ceiling.

I spent nearly an hour on this game last night and all I managed to do was clear from the entrance of the area to the main room (I think). I also dug up a bunch of coal from the area while I was there. Once I got to the door to the main area I figured I would leave it alone because of how long I had spent just to get there and I didn't want to push my luck. I managed to not die at all getting to this point and I needed a mental break.

Continued on the Grove of SSSShrooms (I'm going to call it the Grove from now on) and I made really good progress. After dealing with the 2 creeper spawners right at the entrance I managed to make my way through the entire Grove and dropped a bunch of torches down to light the place up. After that I was out of food so I ran back to my base to get more food and armor. Next time back in the grove was much easier. Picked up a bunch of mushrooms and also found the next chapter (there are chapters as well as wool to find) and I found the orange wool. I took all that stuff out of the area and managed to only die once.

Now on to Boomer Castle - this area was much more challenging than the Grove was. Spent a while fighting my way just to the door of the castle and I was greeted with even more creepers. I also found an area below one of the bridges with blazes and found another chapter (I have the first 4 now).

Next I went into the castle to fight through wave after wave of creepers. I lost my knockback item in a death fighting my way across the bridge to the castle (that was death 3) so I have to fight creepers more directly.

I managed to make really good progress once inside until I got to a huge open room with lava on the sides and at the bottom. I was making good progress getting the early part of the bridge lit up when I got hit by an arrow and knocked into the lava (death 4). That's where I've stopped.

So, I took a much needed break (dying in lava makes me want a break) and came back with a new strategy. I've been collecting a ton of stone bricks (boomer castle was full of them) so I decided to make a totally safe walkway across the bridge so that stray arrows couldn't knock me into the lava and ghasts couldn't blast me from any direction. This was tedious (took me over an hour to build my way across a 100 block room) but it was effective. It allowed me to get all the way across without another death. That led me to a small bedrock corridor with a surprise charged creeper spawner in it which nearly killed me. I was already paranoid enough because of the blazes outside that I was on high alert when the creeper showed up. Took care of it and also got a Magenta wool.

I also managed to get the chapter which was below the bridge although I took a fire resistance potion to get that one. No way I was going towards that lava without some real protection. Once I got those I cleaned out all the remaining gear that I had found in the castle and took it all back to my mini-base.

After this I went into We All Float. This area was much easier than the previous ones. After fighting may way to the water entrance it was a simple matter of walking along the bottom of the water and killing creeper spawners along the way. I know there is a wool and a chapter in this area but I found neither. I ended up at the Victory Monument instead which was a bit of a surprise. I wasn't expecting it this early. Hopefully there are rail lines or something. Also, there was a room full of zombies and doors beneath the victory monument. This meant endless door banging sounds. I decided to go down there and deal with it. What I forgot is that zombies can hit through doors. So, I ended up getting myself trapped and killed down there. Really annoying.

Still, brought a bunch of stuff with me when I went back through We All Float and that's what I'll likely end up doing on Day 3 as well before I go back into We All Float to find the wool and chapter.

So, with the discovery of the Victory Monument I felt the need to transfer everything over to the new base. While doing this I managed to find both the Light Blue wool and the 6th chapter of the story. The really, REALLY frustrating thing though was that once I had my new base all set up and everything transferred over (which took 1-2 hours) I found the rail line I was hoping would exist that took my right back to 10 blocks outside my base. So, instead of hauling everything through the water I could have ridden the rail line back. I'm pretty annoyed at myself for that one .

However, things started to go better after this - I found intersection 2 (it was basically a room away from the victory monument) and started trying to decide which path to take next when I noticed that the intersection had a really high and low section in the middle that were dark and unexplored. I went up first and found nothing but when I dug down I eventually found a gravel spot with 6 loot chests in it. They were random loot chests so I didn't get anything amazing except for a diamond helmet. There was a bunch of other random stuff that was useful but nothing mind blowing. Still, I spent another 20 minutes carting all of that stuff back to the base.

In the middle of all of this I had enchanted some gear. I just used the level 30 enchant any time I got it (this is old enchanting where you use the total number of levels with each enchant) but I managed to get a Power 4, Punch 2, Infinity bow and a couple other iron items enchanted but the enchants weren't great (fire protection ).

Once I had finally done all of that stuff I was able to get going. I decided to find out which way was the next in order (yellow wool) which was in Legion Halls. Let me be clear I was NOT prepared for this area. I was not expecting silver fish spawners along with Zombies under pillars. I nearly died my first time in because I got swarmed and was having trouble getting back to the entrance. I got hit by a creeper in the process and nearly died. I went back in understand what to expect and made pretty good progress. The area feels like a maze though. Each room is the same and the spawners are close enough together that breaking one activates 2 in the next room and so on. Makes it really hard to clear a room without getting attacked by other monsters.

Still, I'm seeing a fair bit of loot from chests and the area seems quite large so now that I know how to attack it it is just a matter of being smart of taking each spawner out the same way to slowly get through. I likely won't have time to work on it again tonight which sucks. I hate starting an area and not finishing it the same day. I forget things that way.

Spent about an hour or so working my way deeper into Legion Halls. I experienced a lot of the same style of spawners until the columns changed from Lapis to Obsidian. Obsidian columns had poison spiders, blazes and endermen. These were actually easier to take on because hitting one didn't make others emerge from blocks in the floor or wall. I got to the yellow wool pretty quickly once I realized where it was and got the hallway to it all cleared up. There were also loot chests at the wool room that I need to cart back to my base but I didn't have time. All I did was take the wool and run back.

Still have the chapter to find in this area and make sure I didn't miss any other loot. Still, I'm glad I haven't died in this area. I'm actually a bit shocked by that.

Went back into Legion Halls again with fresh gear and what not and began my search for the chapter and any extra loot that might be lying around. I made one fatal mistake (note, FATAL mistake). The chestplate I put on had thorns on it. I'm fighting my way through mostly zombie and SILVERFISH spawners and every block in the wall is silverfish. In my haste to get things going I decided to run through and light things up so that when I went through a second time it would go faster. Well, I lit up 3 or 4 rooms before the first silverfish hit me which resulted in several more silverfish popping out of the wall. I wasn't worried yet because I didn't understand what was going on. I kept lighting up rooms occasionally getting hit by these guys. Eventually I hit a dead end and realized when I turned around that I was being chased by 30-40 silverfish. I didn't really have any options at this point so I tried to fight my way out but failed wonderfully and died. I was pretty annoyed by this death.

I regrouped and re-equipped new stuff to go in and get my stuff back and finish the area off which I managed to do. I get my gear and ran for it as fast as I could. Thankfully I stole some slowness splash potions from the potion dispensers that were in the area so the silverfish were too slow to catch me. I finished cleaning the area up and killing all the spawners when I found the chapter in the dead end. After that I was so tired of this area that I left.

Dropped off all the worthwhile gear I found in Legion Halls and started Blast Arrow Castle. This area was much easier that Legion Halls and progress went much faster. There were quite a few skeleton spawners but I made pretty quick work of the main area. The roof was another matter. With multiple levels and blaze spawners added in as a bonus the roof was much more difficult. Still, I made my way to the edge of the castle and then climbed to the top level and worked my way down from the top which made it WAY easier. I also found chapter 9 up there and a bunch more loot. I made my way back to base (I had to rebuild the bridge I entered on because it blew up after I crossed it) and then dropped off all my extra gear and the chapter.

Now I'm heading back in to find the wool and finish this area off for good.

Went back into Blast Arrow Castle and went down instead of up this time. Easy time fighting my way down and got to the pink wool no problem. Continued on through the cavern and it led back to a huge TNT bomb that blasted right back to the entrance.

Hauled the wool and any gear I found back to the victory monument.

Got all geared up again and went into Helix Caverns. This area was quite easy. Found the lime wool and the 11th chapter without much trouble. Got those back onto the victory monument safely.

After that I set off to find the next intersection. I found my way there without dying again but now I'm at intersection 3 and I'm a bit low on gear. Not sure how to get back without running the whole way and I'm not really wanting to do that. Might not have a choice though.

Next area I took on was The Nest. As you can imagine it is spiders. Lots of spiders. And the poison kind. The first area wasn't too bad. Went around the left and right and took out spawners and generally cleaned the area up. Found Chapter 13 on the right side. Then I had to go down the middle and find my way to the wool area. Once I found it I knew I had only one way to get down there and survive. I used a lava bucket and a fire resistance potion along with a regen potion and dropped down into it. I managed to get down into the wool area and grab the wool before the chest got blown up. I hid where the extra loot chests were down there until I could clear out the extra creepers that had dropped down into the fleecy box. Once those were cleared out I ender pearled several times in order to get out and away from all the spawners. I managed to do this without a death at the fleecy box. I did die earlier trying to clear the area of spawners and what not. Too many cave spiders and not enough regen to combat them. I brought a dozen golden apples after that so I didn't have to worry so much. I've only got about 40 but I figure I might as well start using them.

I'm missing some chapters of the book and I'll probably look at going back and figuring out where they are. Might have to check a guide to see what areas the chapters are in so I can narrow down the search. Still, this map is MUCH more difficult and treacherous than any other before it. Most fleecy boxes were pretty straightforward to attack but the ones now are quite often more difficult and time consuming to attack. I'm loving it

Okay, this map is no longer fun for me. Well, let me rephrase that.... the area I just took on (Frozen Venom) kicked the crap out of me. I died 4 times (I'm pretty sure) because after finding the chapter I couldn't find the fleecy box. I spent at least an hour searching for it (which is when I died a bunch) because I couldn't find it anywhere. I finally fell down a hole (yes FELL) and realized that all the random freaking explosions that had been going on was actually leading me to where the fleecy box was hiding. So, if I hadn't set them all off in my exploring I wouldn't have been able to find it. I was really annoyed by this. The area itself wasn't all that difficult but the TNT and gravel falling lag was what killed me a lot of the time. Kind of hard to fight anything when they stop moving and then do 10x speed attacking and what not. Creepers that were 30 blocks away were suddenly right next to me blowing up.

Still, I did get through the area. I lost nearly all my original gear that I used going in (managed to salvage my pickaxe and my golden apples. Everything was destroyed/lost. Pretty frustrating day honestly. I think I was getting lucky with the earlier areas or something because this map hadn't seemed THAT difficult yet. I mean, the difficulty is definitely higher than many of the previous maps at this point in the map but it's still not rage quit worthy yet.

So much to update. Started on We All Burn and holy crap did this area take a long time. I fought my way all the way to where the fleecy box was sitting and ran into an insane number of zombie spawners. I ended up dying here and losing the 13th chapter that I was carrying (I'm still not sure why). I guess I wasn't expecting this area to be as hard as it ended up being.

I took some time to build up some really nice gear and go to the fleecy box (the book was gone but not all my stuff was) and got the purple wool. I took it to safety back at the victory monument and decided to try and get the rest of the way through We All Burn. Needless to say this took a long time. I stuck to one side because it was so tedious in getting through that I got tired of trying to clear the whole area. I could SEE the exit to the next area/intersection when I got swarmed again and ended up in the lava. This time I had no victory monument items but I lost my full enchanted iron armor (all level 30 enchanted). I was pretty annoyed by this. I wasn't going to bother spending that much time building up my armor again so I just took what I had to see if anything was left and it was all gone.

I got through to intersection 4 and didn't know which way to go. I didn't really want to run all the way back again since I had already run through 2 huge areas to get to where I was so I looked online to figure out if there were any rail lines back and Deathshallow Ruins. I wandered around this area until I found the way back (I skipped over picking anything up so that in case I died I didn't lose anything else) and headed back to the cavern of peace/victory monument.

I'm honestly really annoyed at myself right now. Why I would take a chapter into an area with lava was so stupid! I know better than that. And my death counter is up really high I'm just now getting to the REALLY hard wools and I have more deaths than I did in Inferno Mines. Still, I knew this one was hard and should have seen it coming.

Oh, I almost forgot.... I found the chapter 7 book while heading back and forth at the victory monument so I've got all the way up to 9. Still need to find 10 and 12 in order to be up to where I should be.

So another update. I've been trying to find the Helix Depths and I can't find it. I checked intersection 3 to make sure I hadn't misread any of the titles and I hadn't. While I was there I noticed a lit up section way up in the intersection and when I went to investigate I found a set of chainmail armor, along with a rose and up at the lit up area I found chapter 12.

Also, I thought I was missing Light Grey wool but I've done that area (the Nest). I checked the extra 2 wool pieces I had brought back and I had 2 more light grey wool pieces. I had put light grey into the grey spot so I got all confused. Grey wool is in the same area as chapter 10 which I'm also missing. I'm going to start searching the Helix Caverns in search of this area. Not sure where in the cavern it will be but this area is pretty safe now so I'm not worried.

That took less time than I thought. I spent a while walking around the bottom of the map trying to find a tunnel or something and I found Helix Depths at the bottom of basically the first ledge that drops off to the lava. This led down to an area that was basically just above the void. However, there was a layer of lava between the void and the block I was standing on. This wasn't much of a problem except for one instance where I used an ender pearl instead of a torch and ended up in the lava. Thankfully I had more ender pearls so I got out and used a regen potion to survive.

The area itself was quite challenging but not insanely so. Just needed to push into an area and drop torches or kill spawners and then run back and kill from a distance so the creepers didn't blow up. I used 3 knockback swords in the area that I found until they ran out.

Still, it didn't take me too long before I found Chapter 10 and the Grey wool. Now I'm more or less back on track. I also found Chapter 18 (in Upper Deathshallow ruins I think) which is in the chest along with all but chapter 13 that I have listed . I also have the brown wool which I found in the Upper Deathshallow Ruins but didn't list yet. I did all that stuff after finding the way back to the Victory Monument. It was by far one of the easiest areas (brown wool after all) so I wasn't challenged basically at all in the area.

Beat Deathshallow Ruins lower - the chapter and the blue wool were really well hidden. Took a long time of wandering around to find both. The are wasn't overly tough though. Lots of guys but as long as I stayed out of the water it wasn't bad. Cleared most of the spawners and it was safe as houses.

Hissing Sands was quite challenging. Lots of creepers, lots of falling sand and broken glass and lava. Managed to get in and out without dying and got both the chapter and the green wool. Not overly impressed by the area. More annoying than difficult when a creeper blew up.

Inventory Wipe Horror Festival - this area scared me at first. I looked at it and didn't know where to start. Tons of blazes and the walls were COVERED with ghast spawners. I decided to build a tunnel to get through. Turns out blaze fire has knockback when it does damage. Death 1. Also lost all of the good stuff I had on me at the time. Wasn't making that mistake again.

Attempt 2 went MUCH better. Fire resistance postions and blocks. Built a path all the way underneath the the fleecy box. Built a tower up to it and got the red wool with almost no challenge at all. Almost got shot off by the random dozen ghast fireballs that would shoot out every once in a while as I built the tower but not too bad.

Death 2 happened on the way to the portal. Got underneath it and was about to start building up when skeletons spawned and I got knocked off. Fire resistance doesn't protect you from that Still, I'm just underneath the portal to go into the Nether to get the black wool, diamond block and redstone ore. Need to go prepared for this one but I'm excited. I'll probably be terrified and angry when I actually have to do it but for now it's gonna be fun. I'm happy I've done so well considering the areas I've beaten.

Honestly, the balance in this map is all off. Areas that I found super hard came earlier than areas that I found really easy. Maybe it's my play style that helps but the blue, brown and green wools all were pretty easy to get. This area is proving to be tough though. Can't take any stupid risks or it's instant death into the void.

Wool - White, Orange, Magenta, Light Blue, Yellow, Lime, Pink, Light Grey, Grey, Cyan, Purple, Blue, Brown, Green, Red, Iron Block, Gold Block

I obsessed about this map a little too much this last week. However, with my kids back in school and job prospects still really slow right now I figured it was the best time to take it on.

So, I went through the portal and got a view of what I had waiting for me. At first it looked extremely intimidating. Then I realized that I just needed to be methodical and smart with every move I made and if something wasn't going my way to just run away and not make anything of it.

So, I built safety rails all the way to the main platform and killed all the spawners on it. I left the ghast ones that were out of reach alone because they weren't spawning if I was down low and I didn't want to get shot off. I headed into the tower that lead up to the 3 areas I needed to go take on and started heading up. About halfway up I realized there were creepers spawning and dropping on my head. I started to fight them off and kill spawners when I got blown off the step I was on down the middle of the tower. The fall itself didn't kill me though. Another creeper dropped down in front of me and in my haste to kill it I also hit a pigman. Well, considering there were about 20 other pigmen in the area it didn't take long for them to destroy me. Death 3 for Inventory Wipe Horror Festival.

I wasn't too upset about this one though. None of my gear was gone since the creeper didn't blow up and the pigmen were friendly when I returned. I gathered up my gear and conquered the rest of the tower. Then I built bridges to each of the three areas so that I could travel to any of them safely. I realized one of them only had iron blocks (which I already had on the monument) but the next one up had the redstone ore. To my surprise there was a redstone ore just sitting at the entrance so I grabbed my silk touch pick (which I've had since almost the beginning of the map because I enchanted one and just left it in a chest). However, when I dug up the ore it shot into the room rather than toward me. The room itself was full of creepers and blazes and wither skeletons. I noticed there was more ore on the roof though so instead I went up that way. I popped I fire resist potion and built my way up to the top and dug through to where the ore was. I grabbed the ore and was out of there.

Now on to the top layer. This was surprisingly easy. I still had fire resistance so the blazes didn't bug me at all. I ran through the area once with torches to slow spawning and then on my 2nd run through I destroyed about half the spawners. Backed off a bit and shot guys through my tunnel and then destroyed the rest on my 3rd time through. Mined up so diamonds until I had 9 and made the diamond block. I put that safely with the redstone ore at the bottom of the tower and went back up.

The next section was also pretty easy. I just had to do more bridging across to get to where the black wool is. I popped a 2nd fire resistance potion (and a third by the time I was done building) to get there. Again, made the blazes meaningless. There were skeleton spawners but in 1.4.7 they spawn wither skeletons almost every time instead of regular skeletons so nothing could hit me where I was. I got all the way to the obsidian base that the black wool was on and so I went back to make a diamond pickaxe with some of the extra diamonds that I had so I could dig up through the obsidian. I got through the bottom of the fleecy box and had the black wool.

Now, the final chapter I couldn't find on my own. I checked a wiki and found out it was at the bottom of the first main platform. I dug down to it and got it no problem. I wasn't protected just really well hidden.

I know I died another time but now I can't remember how. I also found TONS of loot including a full set of enchanted diamond armor but never needed it.

I then took all those things back to the victory monument and put them on and now I'm DONE! I have completed all of Vech's Super Hostile maps!

Also putting up a picture of the chapters in the chest along with the other 2 pieces of wool in the monument chest. That's right, I took all 3 pieces every time I took the wool . It was very foolish of me.

Also, the rose is in the 13th spot for the one chapter that I had but lost in the lava stupidly .

Snowdeath : summons again cause you haven't said anything!

Jeez, this all sounds really hard, for real.

Congratulations on finishing the entire series! I don't think I'll ever be able to do that.

I wish there were a way to have a super hostile level in a server like Vizzed.

Snowdeath : well, Vechs is going to be making a map once 1.9 is finalized which means that we could set it up as another map location on the server and it would use all the 1.9 content so no major changes would be needed. I'd love that personally. These old maps are fun and all but it takes the first few wool to remember all the differences in gameplay and what not.
