I'm in French class. Me and my friend Ryan are working on our dialogue. Our desks are together. There is a textbook where the two desks meet, and my phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 4) is on top of that. Ryan begins to move the desk for whatever reason. My phone falls hard screen-down on the tile floor and the textbook lands on top of it. It worked fine at first but after a few minutes the screen flashed green. It went back to normal but a minute later it turned green again (not completely green, like someone put a green filter on it) and would blink and stuff. The phone was still fully functional and the glass was not cracked at all. It was nearly impossible to use the phone though, because if you went into certain apps the green would change to black and you couldn't see anything.

Around 20 minutes later I dropped my phone again. Now the screen is just black. I know it is still working, the LED indicator at the top still lights up depending on what kind of notifications I have, it still vibrates when I get texts and stuff, and the two buttons at the bottom still light up. It's just the screen that's the problem.

Anyone know how to fix this? I might be able to do it myself but I would need a step-by-step walkthrough on how to do it.

Also, do you think this will be covered by the warranty? I did not buy the extended warranty that covers everything, but all Samsung phones come with a limited 1 year warranty and my phone is only 2 months old. They won't fix external damage and stuff like that, but since this damage is internal do you think they will fix it? I don't plan on telling them that it was caused by a drop. Do you think they will be able to tell?

I've had the screen go black on my phone before but it still worked (just like yours, it worked but you couldn't see a thing). My dad took it to the T-Mobile store and they couldn't fix it, but they said that I can get a new phone for free because it wasn't a year old yet.

Even though it isn't from the same company as mine, you should be able to get a replacement phone for free since it also has a 1 year warranty. My dad did that for mine and we were able to transfer almost all of my data. (Probably because the screen miraculously started working again, but that wasn't going to last long).

I'd say there are 2 likely possibilities here.

A) a FLAT cable became loose when it first fell, then proceeded to get completely unplugged with the second fall. If that's the case then the solution is simple. Opening the phone and looking for the cable that comes out from the display, finding it's end (likely with a plug), then seeking the slot it goes on the phone board. It should be kinda easy to spot. Still while the concept is easy, this is something you should do at your own risk and depending on the model of your phone, it could be a tiresome task due to the amount of screws and such.

B) Display burnt. I'd say it's unlikely, but If that's the case you'll have to get a new Display for your phone.

It's also possible that phone board or the flat cable got damaged somehow, but I wouldn't bet on that, it's not that common.

mvhupsel : Thank you! I'll dissect my phone when I get a chance and try to see if anything is loose.
