Have you ever heard a video game song that made you feel overcome with an emotion? What is it and how did it make you feel?

I keep listening to Cosmic Cove Galaxy from Super Mario Galaxy 2. Ever since the first time I heard the song by itself, it's made me feel like crying. It makes me smile too. It's so beautiful...

Few games are naturally emotional. Many games have great gameplay, then tack on a plot that feels weird considering the context of the gameplay. Many RPGs do this, for example, albeit perhaps fewer today than yesteryear. And sadly, often the only option is to fight or run in many of these battles. Few RPGs have attempted dynamic systems that give the player more life-like scenarios.

For the people that want a game that feels like a good story, there's this game, "To the Moon", and its in-between sequel, "A Bird Story". Both have great music, and both have wonderful stories. I have truly wept over the few hours I've spent with these games more than I have for the hundreds of other games I've played throughout my life. More than that, they make you a participant in the stories. You literally bring the story to life.

The "animated storybooks" of yesteryear attempted something like this, but not on this level. The power of the stories rely on their simplicity, along with fantastic music. The music does more than sell the stories, it invigorates them.

It seems I have gone off track a bit. But I love the games so much, I had to share.

Midna's Lament from Twilight Princess. A perfect soundtrack to one of the most intense moments of the game. I won't elaborate for sake of spoilers. but give it a listen, it's a beautiful song.

Oh gosh where do I begin to describe it? The song that has ever made me feel emotional is Never Forget... Otherwise known as I Don't Want To Say Goodbye from Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky. That song was so well composed and was put at the perfect moment and It made me actually cry I won't tell you how because that would be spoilers so play the game for yourself to see what I mean.

Writing from my school IPad so I cannot link you to YouTube because it is blocked just search up "I Don't Want To Say Goodbye" and it should pull it up sorry :3

After a while of browsing through the database of all of the games I have played, followed by which ones had some of the most emotion affecting sounds and lyrics to them, here is a small list of songs that I consider to either make someone cry or someone amped up:

1) "1000 Words": This song first appeared in Final Fantasy X-2 during a concert in which Yuna sang it to a crowd of various people. However, the song wasn't the only reason why the song itself was so emotional, more or less, the speech given before singing the song greatly adds to the emotional build of it all. To summarize the speech, she basically says: "If we do not work together and let our emotions and desires get the best of us, then all of us will suffer a terrible fate". Basically, like with our real life, this songs tells us to stop fighting all the time, as it will only make things worse.

2) "Dart's Theme": In the game Legend Of Dragoon, Dart (the main protagonist) has a very uplifting, yet also heart touching theme. This theme only plays before something serious is about to take place, after something bad has happened or before the team moves on into a difficult situation. The first appearance of this theme is after Lavitz (the 2nd male protagonist) dies when trying to attack Lloyd (the 2nd main antagonist). Afterwards, the team meets back up in Seles and discusses that they cannot end their journey here, they need to finish it and avenge Lavitz.

3) Next up is a very tragic song, "Aerith's Theme" from Final Fantasy VII. This song has actually caused me to cry hearing it, mostly due to the first few times playing the game, I couldn't stop myself from crying when Sephiroth stabbed her (which then if you apply logic to it, Cloud may have actually killed her, but whatever). This song has a deep somber feeling to it, giving you a sense that all hope is lost, but at the same time, it slightly lifts up and greatly increases in volume to tell you not to quit. One of the most heartbreaking songs to this day, I still tear up a bit the moment I hear it.

And now, here are some honorable mentions, since I'm getting a bit lazy and don't feel like typing anymore:

"Simple And Clean" (Kingdom Hearts)
"Sanctuary" (Kingdom Hearts)
"Blow Me Away" (Halo 2?)
"Guile Theme" (Street Fighter) [This song can make anyone feel amped up]

Well, that's my selection of songs, not sure what else to add, but yeah.

I just finished playing Rayman Origins and just had to post this amazing song, "The Lums' Dream". It's one of the underwater level songs, and unlike most of the music in the game, which is joyously eccentric, The Lums' Dream is completely atmospheric and emotional. You can't even understand what the words are because the lums speak in gibberish, but it's amazing how despite this the song remains so powerful.

A videogame song that sounds dramatic is the Wingzone theme from Sonic 2. I like the song. It feels like I rule a country!

The opening song from Metal gear solid, Snake eater was hypnotic. If you havent heard this song or played the game you need to do that right now. The songs kind of an ode to james bond films. Its hard to desribe how it makes me feel, i guess it makes me sad,but in a good way.
Simple and clean is a good song from Kingdom hearts (also a must play).
the music from tenchu games, the first two.
,and finally in Beyond good and evil, during one of the races theres like a weird rock/pop/beebob/rap/skat hybrid that im guessing was made for the game, i like it cause it sounds funny, and kind of reminds of how silly music is sometimes.

One song that makes me feel excitement and gives me goose bumps is Ballad of a Goddess from The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony Orchestra. I actually own the CD that came with the limited edition Skyward Sword for the Wii, I love every song on this CD.

I don't really know any emotional video game songs besides one.

It's called " Dear My Friend " and it plays during the end credits of Sonic Unleashed.

Once you see what happened at the end of the game, you may see why this song is emotional.  I won't spoil anything, no worries. It's a good song but I try not to listen to it cause it will remind me of the ending, I don't want to end up tearing again. Haha

Strictly speaking about songs, Suteki Da Ne is very beautiful and emotional, especially in concert. Rikki just has such a beautiful voice, even though I do not understand what she says.

If we can expand this to music, Princess Ellis is probably the top one for me. I hope I can find someone to play the flute part at my/my husband's funerals. The Dear Friends versions of Music Box and Lenna's Themes are also very beautiful

Actually yes, there's one song that kind of makes be a bit sad when you kind of think of where it's coming from and that's I'll face Myself from the Persona 4 games. It also happens to be one of my favorite video game songs of all time.

The only song I have ever heard in a video game that can make me tear up is the instrumental during the scene in Gears of War 3 when Dom sacrifices himself. I really took that hard, especially after he found his wife, Maria, the way she was in Gears of War 2.

Kuti_Kat : I were also going to mention the UNDERTALE soundtrack. I don't think I've ever been that emotional when playing a game before xD

Have to mention the soundtrack that plays during
Spoiler:
the fight with Asriel
, though.
