I've expanded the Vizzed Virtual Bible by adding Bible Trivia:
https://www.vizzed.com/bible/trivia.php

This allows any logged in user to create and answer questions based on the Bible. The feature is about 80% complete and I've already got 25 hours into it. I may eventually re-use some of the code for other features on the site such as allowing users to create their own trivia topics.

The questions that get submitted and approved will be available to vizzed users to answer and they'll also be used for an app that my co-owner of MyBibleGames.com and myself will be working on. The app is going to be a port of My Bible Millionaire (which will be most likely renamed to 'American Bible Millionaire' or just 'Bible Millionaire') and will be available on iOS devices and Android devices. There most likely will be a free version of the app which will have ads and a pay version which would be add free. Anyways, more about the Vizzed Bible Trivia.

Creating Questions
There are 2 ways you can go about this. You can either look up a specific verse and create the question from the verse page (as seen here) or you can click the 'Add Question' link which can be found in the sub menu of the Bible Trivia pages. When you create a question, you simply fill in all of the fields and you also must specify where in the Bible the answer can be found. If the answer to your question cannot be found in the Bible then it will not be accepted. Your questions don't become available right away, a Bible Staff member has to approve the questions before they become available to everyone.

I spent a lot of time adding features which will help make sure that users don't add questions that other users have already added. When you start typing in your question, that drop down list shows questions that are similar to the question you're typing. When you click 'Review Question', it'll search for all possible similar questions based on the question itself and based on the source verse you used.

Answering Questions
All you have to do is click the 'Answer Questions' link in the sub menu of the Bible Trivia pages and it'll randomly grab a question that you haven't answered yet. If you've already answered every question once, then it'll continue grabbing random questions that you've answered the least amount.

Answering questions whether you know them or not helps us determine the difficulty of the questions so please don't look up the answers before you answer them. Eventually the questions will be grouped together based on how many users got them correct.

Coming Soon
-More statistics for the sub menu area
-CP and Viz for submitting and answering questions (more on that below)
-When answering questions, ability to choose random Easy, Normal or Hard questions
-Questions will get attached to verses, chapters and books of the Virtual Bible so that you can test yourself to see how much you learned or remembered after reading various parts of the Bible
-Letting you know how many questions added since your last visit to the Bible Trivia page

CP and Viz for Asking and Answering
This is something I need feedback on since I haven't implemented it yet. I want to pay out Viz and CP for helping Add Questions and helping Answer Questions. Here's what I had in mind:
-Adding a Question: 1 CP / 100 Viz
-Answering a Question: 0.2 CP / 20 Viz
-Approving or Declining a Question: 0.5 CP / 50 Viz (Bible Staff only)

I figured these would all be sub actions to a 'Bible' CP action since I didn't want to add at on of actions based on the Bible and I'm not so sure other users of the site would like that so much either, especially with the TdV comes around so grouping all Bible related actions to a single action seems like a good decision.

I decided that Answering a Question awards the same amount of Viz and CP no matter if you got it correct or wrong; this helps reduce the possibility of someone looking up the answers. I also decided that if you've already answered a question, you don't get Viz or CP for answering it more than once.

I actually kinda discovered this a few days ago, but I wasn't sure as to how functional it was, so I didn't submit any questions. xD

I love this idea. It's a great way to get engaged with quick and easy questions, and a simple way to learn neat facts. Great idea, I'm really stoked to see what kinds of questions are implemented. xD

EideticMemory : and I were chatting briefly about this earlier, and he had a great idea. What about per-chapter questions? That would definitely induce some more detailed study, and would be a neat way to start discussions about some really good chapters (romans, anyone?)

I'll definitely go ahead and apply to be a Bible Staff member. Would you like me to apply via PM, or here in the thread? I'll do whichever you prefer, but I don't want to necessarily post here if it'd be better to do it via PM or some similar method.

Also, are your answers for your question about who King David's father was for the right question? It appears to be years, not names (unless I'm just derping really hard).

mrfe : It probably wasn't read at the time you saw it.

Could you give me an example of a question where the answer couldn't be found in a single verse but instead would need an entire chapter? There are a few reasons why I'd like to limit it so that the answer can be found in a single verse (or maybe even among a few verses):

1. For when the Bible Staff members are verifying that the correct answer was chosen. It's easier for them to verify it by looking at the source if the source is only 1 verse (or maybe just a few verses).

2. If the user gets it wrong, it's easier to give me them something short to read so that they can see where the answer can be found for themselves. It's especially important that this is short for the app.

3. One of the "lifelines" in the game is titled "Read Bible". When a user chooses this lifeline, it shows the user where in the Bible the answer can be found so that they can read it for themselves. An example of this can be found here: http://www.mybiblegames.com/screenshots/MyBibleMillionaire-Screen3.jpg

There actually does seem to be a little error still with editing answers to questions. I'll get that fixed soon.

Davideo7 : As with mrfe, I would also like to apply for a position. Are you looking for people who are currently in a Staff position, or does this just apply to those who are in a Trusted or above position? Also, mrfe asked if it would be better to do that via PM, or here, and I would like to know that as well. I didn't find that very clear in the reply you had...

Short version: I would like to apply, but I'm unsure of the way I would be doing that.

Cool! This should really be a great way to learn about the bible! I've already learned some stuff from your 4 questions you've already added!

I'll add some questions when I get around to it, I have a lot that id like to add.

And with bible staff, like Mrfe said, do we apply via PM or post it just here in the thread?

This whole new trivia thing is a much easier way to learn about the bible thank you David ^-^

darthyoda : They can be almost any rank on the site but the higher their rank the better their chances. If doesn't matter whether you do it here or in PM but I'd probably get to it quicker if it's here.

Barathemos : Yeah it'll be a great learning experience as well as a fun way to see how much you know.

Refer to what I said to darthyoda.

Bible staff application:

What would make me a good choice to be added as a bible staff member?

1. Of course, I am a firm Christian believer. I follow the words of God and Jesus Christ as closely as I can. I have read many of the bible, allowing me to know great facts about the bible, so I'd be able to add a ton of questions with their verses and also know when a question is wrong or offensive (aka hate comments) and I'd be able to take them off quickly.

2. My experiences with the church community and my connection of God have matured me. You probably know me as that kid you don't like much, but over the past few months as I have gotten closer with God and with the church community, I have been able to mature and have the ability to do the correct things.

3. I'm active. Not just on vizzed, but on the vizzed bible. I look at the bible a few times everyday and read different parts of it. As it is hard for me to read the bible normally, I spend a ton of time using the Vizzed bible. I would be able to get to those things needed of a bible staff quickly and efficiently.

4. I know the bible. I have been connected with the bible a ton as I have been taking a bible class before church every Sunday for an hour for the last few years. I have become a firm believer of the bible and follow it's words.

5. When it comes to religious things, that's one thing you can definantly trust me on. There are not many things that I hate more then when people say bad/wrong things about the bible or the Christian faith. I am a strong believer in my faith and feel that it's disrespectful of people to say mean/disrespectful things. If anyone tries to add any of these kinds of questions being rude towards the christan faith, I would let someone know so that it can be delbt with accordingly.

Just some insight of me as a Christian:

1. I am a Presbyterian, and have always been a Presbyterian. I have learned about the other branches and accept that we have different views.

2. I go to church once a week, every week. I go to church every week for just about every week for 2-3 hours. I also sometimes attended other activities such as the Presbyterian meeting that was held last week to decide the future of my church community.

3. I've been going to church since I was born. I was babtised at what I think was either age 2 or 3, and have gone to classes in the church ever since I was able to understand any of what was going on.

4. My religious journey has changed me. As I said below, my religious journey over the past few months has really changed who I am.

I hope you take my application into effect and I hope that this bible trivia becomes a great success!

Here is my application for Bible Staff:

1. I am a Christian, I believe that what the Bible says is the best there is. I believe that God Preserved every word, from beginning to end.

2. I love the Bible, and especially random facts especially when they pertain to Science. I read the Bible often, and I have tried to use the Vizzed Bible more, as I usually log in during the morning hours. I have tried to get others to use it more by making a thread about Daily Thoughts, but that one got corrupted by Trolling...

3. I'm active on Vizzed, and in my Church. I have done the Church presentations for the past 3 years in my Church. On Vizzed I have been an occasional Christian Conservatives Poster.

4. I grew up in a Christian home, my Dad is a Missionary. I grew up with the Bible, and I have never stopped learning new things! During school, I love the Bible class! It's always been one of my favorites, and often, the Absolute favorite class.

Some words on what I believe:

I believe that God inspired the Word of God, each man wrote as he was inspired, using his own experience and vocabulary. God Created the world in 7, 24 hour days. (If you count the one day of rest as part of Creating...) Everything that God says will happen is either fulfilled, or will be fulfilled. God is Almighty, Merciful, and Just! You can only be saved from your life of sin by acknowledging Jesus as your
personal Savior.

If you want me to answer some questions or you think that I'm missing something, just say so, and I will answer the questions to the best of my ability.

More help might be needed, so I'd like to offer to help out.

I love trivia, and I feel like I'm going to be spending a lot of time in there. I'd rather that time also help out Vizzed in some way.

As someone who was raised Christian, I also have great respect the Bible, and I'd love to reference-check questions and get more familiar with the literature.

Since most of the questions are going to be fact-based instead of interpretation I should be able to stand my ground in a some areas and be able to handle the learning curve in others. As a quick learner, I feel like I could get really good at this given the chance.

I also spend a lot of time on the site, so I should be able to handle the necessary time contribution you would like for it. I'm excited for the opportunity to help out with this. Even if I don't get to help out, I'm excited to use the feature. Either way, lemme know!
More help might be needed, so I'd like to offer to help out.

Davideo7 : I have a question about the verses in he questions.

How do we add multiple verse questions? Some of the questions I've tried to put have 2-3 verse answers, but I can't figure out hoe to include them all in there.

David, while you are at hiring staff for trivia, do you think it would be a good idea to also hire some of is to go through the bible and add the study guides to the sides of the chapters and books?

And I really like the new feature where I can add more than one verse, so now I can add a lot more questions.

*edit* also I think you should allow users to change their question before it has been approved. I just added one, but had a mistake on it,so I had to resubmit the question instead of just being able to edit the mistake out.

I have a question: When you submit Bible Trivia questions, do you earn Viz and CP only if you're a Bible Staff? (If there is a better place for asking this question, please tell me so)
