Hello everyone, Tyranit here for my review of
NES Remix Pack for the Wii U. I love retro games, which is why I am on Vizzed so much, but I love hacks to put a spin on an old favorite, and NES Remix Pack does both by giving you specific challenges in time limits in a lot of classic games such as Mario Bros, Wrecking Crew, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr, Super Mario Bros, The Legend of Zelda, Punch-Out, Clu Clu Land, Kirby's Adventure, and much more. It is challenging enough to keep me thinking, but I usually pay it whenever I want to wind down and relax. Anyway, onto the review.

Graphics: 6

I give NES Remix Pack a 6 in graphics because they are 8-Bit graphics, which are not that pleasing to the eyes anymore, but the nostalgia factor gives it a boost. The remix levels do add a few new colors, but nothing special. I love the simplicity that we had back in the 80's, where kids did not say games were good because of their graphics, but because of the quality of the game. The menu does look pleasing though, so it adds to the score.

Sound: 7

I give NES Remix Pack a 7 in sound because the 8-Bit songs are great. We might have the capability now to have awesome orchestral music or over-the-top rock music, but when you go back to an 8-bit game, you cannot help but just hum to things like the World 1-1 theme of Super Mario Bros, or the fighting theme of Punch-Out. We did not need the instrumental music because the 8-bit music was catchy enough to want to listen to.

Addictiveness: 10

I give addictiveness a perfect 10 for NES Remix Pack because you get a sense of achievement whenever you clear a stage and you get that 3-star rating, and you just want more and more, to the fact that you will keep replaying the same stage for an hour trying to 3-star it. I also think that the Super Luigi Bros mode also adds to it because you have to play the game in reverse, making long time players have to actually think whenever they play it. You also want to clear all of the stages because there are bragging rights associated with it, making is just as addictive as going for achievements on an Xbox.

Story: -
I don’t have a rating here on story because this is a compilation of 2 NES Remix titles, and NES games never really had stories in the game, but they were explained in the manual, which most gamers don’t have.

Depth: 8
I give the depth of NES Remix Pack an 8 because there are 2 whole games on this disk, each taking about 4 hours to complete if you are trying to go for a 3-star 100 percent run. There also are the Super Luigi Bros I mentioned earlier, and a Championship Mode that emulates a copy of Nintendo World Championships 1990, one of the most expensive games for the Nintendo Entertainment System because the grey had about 100 carts, and there were only 30 gold carts, and if you have both, you have about $60,000 on your hands!

Difficulty: 8
I give NES Remix Pack an 8 on difficulty because if you are trying to 100 percent this game, there are quite a few challenges that you will bust your thumbs trying to beat, such as the final challenge on the Bonus column of NES Remix 1, which requires you to pick up 43 different power-ups in Super Mario Bros. with 6 lives. That may sound easy, but when you cannot scroll the screen, have an accumulating time limit, and they are in hard to reach locations, you will spend about 2 hours trying to beat this challenge alone. The rest of these won’t take that long, but some can be tricky if you don’t know exactly a plan of action on the challenge.

Overall: 8.5
Overall, I give NES Remix Pack an 8.5 out of 10 because this game is a very solid title for the Wii U, has some great retro NES game challenges that everyone can enjoy, no matter who it is, even if they have even multiple years of experience playing these retro games. This also proves that a game does not need a good story to be fun, but it is a good backbone. Anyway, this has been Tyranit with another game review, and thank you for reading.
