SoL@R :

I guess I just want to UNDERSTAND more of what the bible means, and what to do from thereon out. Take a bit of my knowledge and understanding of things, and see what others can teach me in general. Whether that be psalms or straight stories from the book itself, I want to figure out how to, not sure how to say this, but figure some things out and maybe find a bit of me in the process.

manicman66 :  Although this post is directed at you, it is actually applicable to all who really want to understand the Bible.  I am not posting this with a "I know it all, so please listen to me" attitude.  No.  Not for a single second, because I do really not know anything.  I can only testify of my own life and experiences.  So here goes.  A little bit of a foreword.   I don't know you or where you stand with God, but know this.  If you have been "reborn" in Jesus Christ, that is, if you have repented of your sins and placed your faith, trust and life into His hand, your identity is in Christ.  "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." (2 Corinthians 5:17)  You will know exactly who you are and where you're going.  Who you are is not defined by yourself, your friends or the world around you.  It is defined by Christ who paid the price for your sins on the cross and rose on the third day from death.

I'm not trying to be funny or weird or trying to insinuate anything about your life in this next comment, but there are so many people out there who are calling themselves "Christians", but the truth is they are so far removed from God there is no relationship with Him whatsoever.
"Therefore the Lord said:  “Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths And honor Me with their lips, But have removed their hearts far from Me, And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men..." (Isaiah 29:13)
We have to make 100% sure where we stand with God.  We have to always examine ourselves and see if our motives in everything are pure.  I would like you to check this out to see where you truly stand with God.  Even if you are a true Christian and you have an awesome relationship with the living God, check it out anyways:  http://www.needgod.com/

Why am I posting this link?  Well, if you are not sure if you are truly a Christian, if you haven't repented of sin in your life and given your life to Christ, this sin will stand between you and God.  You can read the Bible multiple times and it will still mean nothing to you.  It will be like any other book.  You see, the moment you truly give your life to Jesus, He will fill you with His Spirit.  You will become a "new creation".  The Bible, God's Word, will come "alive" to you.  "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12)  By His Spirit working through you, you will start reading the Bible with understanding.  God truly speaks through His Word to us.  I can testify of that.  He guides and directs us through His Word and He can show you the specific purpose He has for you in this life.
So, if you are serious about learning God's Word (again, not that I know much), I will be more than willing to help wherever I can.  I would suggest starting to actually read your Bible.  Maybe start with the Book of Matthew and take 1 chapter a day.  Read it without fail.  Even if you don't feel like reading it, read it!  If you have questions you are more than welcome to PM me or create a thread with general Bible questions, unless something like that already exist?? Anyone??  You can of course also ask play4fun or Singelli .  Yeah! I've put you guys on the spot now! ;p  but I think you already know that.  They are really knowledgeable even if they say they aren't  I hope you find what you're looking for.

McDavideo7s : What I mean by that is that when it comes to studying the Bible or do Biblical Interpretation, KJV would not be the best choice to use. The reason for that is that KJV's language and the meaning of that language is out of date. If someone where to get the meaning of scripture, it is taking an extra step in your studying/interpreting process by understanding the old sayings/meanings of King James English. That's why the NKJV exists, for the English is more understandable and have less of a need to research on old KJ English meanings.

Also, keep in mind that the KJV was translated and formed in 1611. Since then, more discoveries, more manuscripts found, and more scholarly work and research in Biblical translation have been made to improve our understanding and reveal more about the word usage of the Bible. KJV was not translated with the manuscripts of all parts of the Bible and relied on the Latin translation in order to fill in the text that they were missing. It was good for what they have, but it definitely provides more accuracy in the text and meaning if it was fully translated from the original language. So I would say I don't use KJV as my primary Bible for study or Exegesis with the same reason that I don't use Bibles prior to the KJV (like Tyndale, D-R Version, or the Geneva Bible)

noahs_brother : What are you talking about? He had 14 likes, not dislikes.

noahs_brother : that actually just happens when you hit your limit for the day with liking. Then it shows all posts having the same number of likes and dislikes on it.
