What do you think is the greatest song in a Sony Playstation game? Find that game, find the music within that game and record it! This is a way to celebrate the Sony Playstation turning 20 years old next month on December 3rd. I'll be putting together a compilation video with all of the top submissions and upload it to YouTube on that date.

MEGA Competition:
This is going to be classified as a Mega competition because not only do 5 people get prizes but there's also cash prizes.

RULES and INFO:
-You can submit up to 7 submissions
-Do not use Freemake to compress the video, it distorts the video
-Each submission needs to be 1 video
-You can only do 1 song per a game
-You can not use the Playstation's "music player"
-Videos must be shorter than 3 minutes 30 seconds and longer than 30 seconds
-Your video cannot contain more than 1 song
-You can not edit your video in any way, it needs to be raw footage
-Be sure to let me know in this thread which videos you've uploaded
-Be sure to specify which game each submission is for
-Your videos must be uploaded to the Vizzed YouTube account
-You may use cheats to get to the song you're looking for
-You may do the same game as someone else but not the same song for the same game
-You may use your submissions from previous music competitions
-You cannot do the same song as someone else, even if the same song belongs to a different game (unless the song sounds significantly different)
-You must add your video to the game's page (which should happen automatically when you upload your video to the Vizzed YouTube account)
-Once the competition is over, this will go into voting and we will figure out who the winner is by tallying up the votes of all of their submissions.
-Your submission should have as few sound effects as possible (so try not to move or fight enemies and use the sound test whenever possible)
-If 2 users submit the same song to this competition, whichever user uploaded their video to the Vizzed YouTube account first gets credit
-You should record your videos with the RGR Plugin, if you use an external program, than you must take a screenshot while you're recording the gameplay as proof that you recorded the video

FAQ:
Q: Can I use music from a hacked game?
A: Music from hacked and homebrew games do not count. A translation hack does count.

Q: Do ported games count?
A: Yes they do.

Q: How do I upload videos?
A: Scroll about half way down the page where you see the video area and then click the 'Click to Upload your Video to Vizzed YouTube'. Here's a screenshot of it:

Tip: If the game lets you listen to each song from the game on the options screen (sometimes referred to as the sound test page), you may do your recording from that. You may also mute all sounds (some games support this in the options) for when you're playing on the level that has the music you want to capture.

Tip 2: It is suggested that you try not to make too many noises in the game when you're attempting to record the music, other noises would be a distraction and will lower the chances of your song from being voted for. If possible, try to stand still on a level.

Tip 3: Before adding a song, check the game's page in the Retro Game Room to see if someone has already submitted that song for that game.

Prizes:
1st = US $100 or 150,000 Viz
2nd = US $50 or 75,000 Viz
3rd = US $25 or 37,500 Viz
4th = 20,000 Viz
5th = 10,500 Viz

Ends:
December 3rd

Cash Prizes:
The cash Prizes can be paid out in a few ways. I can purchase a membership on a website for you somewhere, I can order something for you off of amazon, I can send you the money via Paypal, I can buy you Microsoft Points, Nintendo Points or Playstation Points and send you the code, I can buy you an Amazon gift card and send you the code, etc.

Oooo... $100 top prize is very tempting, but I have no idea if I'll be able to compete. My internet has been really slow lately, so it'll take me forever to just download the games... Then, of course, there's the issue of my computer not being able to handle recording a PSX game...

If I can't enter this one, I'll keep the screenshot competition in mind. If I do enter, I'll just edit my entries into this post.

How do we upload to the Vizzed YouTube account exactly? I'm still a bit confused about that.

I'll add more to this post later, but I'll get this started. The video is oddly squished, but I guess it doesn't matter since it's just there for the music anyway. Hopefully that doesn't happen with every game though. If I do a Crash Bandicoot speedrun, I'll probably record the video using an external program instead just to be safe.

1. Tales of Eternia - Japanese Opening (Flying by Garnet Crow) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HySwF1Vra0 (Fixed)

2. Final Fantasy IX - Vamo'alla Flamenco http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMQKzLVcJBA

3. Intelligent Qube - Stage 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIePIl6tySI

Juliaisme123 : Scroll about half way down the page where you see the video area and then click the 'Click to Upload your Video to Vizzed YouTube'. Here's a screenshot of it:

Linkums : That submission wont count so you'll have to redo it. Re-read my first post, compressing with Freemake does that to Playstation games.

So that one can apply to the contest?
"Lost painting" from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

I don't mind if I have to remake it, I just want to make sure it's ok ^^

I'm going to change some tunes from my past submissions. Same games eventually but different tunes.

Davideo7 : I didn't use Freemake, but I did use AnyVideoConverter to trim off some of the beginning, so that probably did it. I'll redo it later, along with some other music. (Unless Freemake is the default video capture thing on RGR)

Edit: Looks like AnyVideoConverter is what did it in. I rerecorded and tried uploading to my own youtube account first without needing to trim it and it didn't get squished this time. Still, the file size gets huge fast. It's not a problem for this, but it could be for longer videos.

Also, somewhat unrelated, I once recorded a video from RGR and when I try to delete it and empty my recycle bin, it never deletes. Also, I can't restore it. I don't know if this is a common issue or just a fluke on my end. It could've been cause by me stopping the recording and starting it over multiple times with the same file name maybe?

Wait, is Freemake the default video recorder for the PSX? The "Press F8 to record" thing you see when you're playing? If it is, then I'm definitely out...

jokool : No. Freemake is a converter you can optionally use after recording an RGR game. It is a completely different software.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
