Everyone knows how annoying recurring bosses are in video game franchises, but what about those bosses? What about the bosses that makes you happy to beat the heck out of them again? What is one of your favorite recurring bosses in video games? One of my favorites is Great Thing from the Darius series. I don't know why but every time I fight him as a final boss, it's so pulse pounding fun. And always a challenge and I'm usually happy seeing him again in the next game. But when he's not a final boss (i.e. Darius Twin, Supernova/Darius Force) I get a little disappointed.

I like seeing Cirno end up as a boss (Or midboss) in Touhou games. Although shes only been the stage 2 boss of Touhou 6 and the stage 1 midboss of Touhou 7 and 14, I still enjoy seeing her appearance. Its rare for characters to reappear in Touhou games (Except for main characters) and I think Cirno is one of the most famous Touhou characters (I mean, shes even my current profile picture). I dunno, I guess Cirno is just fun to play against (And shes also pretty cute).

The sweet sense of victory after defeating a enemy that has been harassing you since the beginning of the game . In what what would that not be satisfying? You are finally rid of the onslaught of seemingly random attacks from ever angle and at every turn . The are someone you have bee dealing with for your entire career throughout whichever game you are playing . Dr. Robotnik would probably be my favorite out of them all if not only just for the sentimental-ness of destroying at every given chance. Of course I have many other ones that I have enjoyed defeating however he is the most memorable for myself.

Huh. Well let me think.

Probably my favorite was beating the demon ninja repeatedly in PS1's Tenchu.

I also enjoyed beating up Ultros, the otcoboss in FF6

I hate recurring bosses with a passion.  The main ones that I hate are ones in action games that you either can't kill or are just almost in possible to kill.  The main one that I can think of is the boss known as Laura from The Evil Within.  She is weak to fire.  The first time you see her is in chapter 4 where you just run.  The second time is in chapter 5 when you actually kill her just by setting her on fire a few times, which is really easy to do.  You just lure her into a certain area and then flip a switch while she is there and you have to do this 3 times.  The 3rd and final time you see her is in chapter 10.  You have to run and do flame based puzzles while she comes at you.  Keep in mind that if she catches you, she will kill you in one hit.  She can teleport closer to you, and even to dodge bullets that you fire at her.  You can kill her, I did it, but only in NG+.  She also takes a ridiculous amount of damage before dying.  You earn a trophy/achievement when you beat her.  It isn't worth it, because like right after you beat her, you have to fight another boss that can be insanely hard if you don't come prepared.  I didn't my first time through and died to it like 5 times.  So just run away and try and wound her to slow her down.

spenser1151 : This topic is about recurring bosses that you happen to LIKE fighting again. Though that boss sounds awful to fight.

My favorite would be Dr.Wily from the Mega Man series. Dr. Wily tries something new every time in the Mega Man Franchise. Some of his plans include revenge, framing over characters, creating viruses, discovering power sources, breaking out of jail, and summoning an alien star force. Every game is different which makes him enjoyable to tackle and beat again and again

I also have to get a shout out to Sigma from the Mega Man X Series. Like Dr. Wily Sigma keeps coming back with different themes. Some of his schemes include, revolting, setting up an X hunter organization, infecting over reploids, turning organizations against each other, and other stuff. He is also fun to beat again and again

blahblahblah213 :

If I remember Gate when he tampers with repolids that have the Simga Virus he resurrects Sigma. However at the end of the game when the player fights Sigma he reveals he did not really die.

endings : I came here to talk about Ultros.  He was a lot of fun because he was simple, than reappeared, then got fairly challenging.  He kept coming around and being a real boss.  The Kafka thing was okay but you never really faced him in boss battles over and over again.  Ultros, though, he was a blast.

Going to go with Vile from the Mega Man X games. He's really the only recurring boss I've ever encountered (  don't play RPG's, really), and he's quite a thrill. He always has interesting attacks and it's always satisfying to fight him.

I hate barthandelus from final fantasy 13. It made my blood boil when I had to fight him the second time. And when I found out you have to fight him a third time. I went crazy. But in the end. I enjoyed the cut seen when he finally dies. So I guess it wasn't all to bad.

The favorite reaccuring boss I like is Xehanort from the series of Kingdom Hearts, he never gets old, he is like Voldermort on roids, and he just plain awesome. The many iterations of him are awesome to Xemnas is just wicked, I love his macabre philosophy, and his calm behavior, but underneath that calm is insane rage getting ready to release.
