So just like it says on the tin. Gosh, I used to love forums back in the day. Of course, this was when I had no day job, and just spent all my time on the computer, back in the golden age of the web forum. I loved every minute of it. Honestly, I thought all the forums were dead until I found Vizzed, and for a while, everything was just like it was back in the day, if not better.

But anymore... Well. It's like an alcoholic. I got involved with one forum, and that lead to other forums, and I went on a raging bender that destroyed my life (Just kidding about this last part). But then I hit rock bottom, and now I just don't even know what to post about.

What do you say on forums? I've forgotten. I don't know how to make threads anymore. Or to be friendly. Or interesting. Or anything.

I will admit that some of these threads can be either random, useless, or boring. I don't post as much as I used to when I first joined Vizzed.

My advice to you is to try to make threads that are still not active or have been closed and can be a topic that everyone can talk about. It can be something very general whether it would be based on common interests or explaining a point of view on a certain topic. If it's a topic that you can connect and relate to, that could be possible to write about it. Don't be afraid to speak about what is in your mind. It can either give another perspective onto another person or the next person talking to you may agree on your point of view in some sense. This is just an idea but everyone posts someway or another.

Conversations will start one way or another at some point of time. Don't rush through your thinking when it comes to threads or talking to someone.

Lazlo Falconi : Don't worry a lot of people make boring threads, are not very friendly, are dull and just a pain to be around.. there is plenty in every forum.

Honestly all i do is post in threads that i actually care about, I may not make that many posts but the posts that i do make actually mean something. Just have a laugh with some of the older members that you used to joke around with, Slowly build up that confidence and then just start letting your ego take over.

I mean you could always take the easy way out and just agree with everyone's opinion and make your post literally just another number on your post count.. But dude your an adult and adults have opinions so just voice them, If people do not agree with them... Just ignore them, Remember forums are for fun and for just socialising, making new friends and maybe posting every now and then...

Or just become a fighting mongoose. there is always that option

"He's the poster Vizzed  deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. An ex global, Lazlo Falconi"

I have the same thing too, A few months ago, i was posting like crazy. But Because I have got stuff to do I don't post as much anymore. But it's also because, Like you said, What is there to post anymore.

But I am getting back in to regular posting. And I'm trying to keep my stories going.

Hey lazlo! Long time no see! As muff said. Just take the time to build up your posting that you once had as a poster. So don't rush it anytime soon ok? Threads are not so good as it was back then. Muff is right most are boring. I do try to find ones that still interest me. But, that can be hard at times. Let the thinking come to you again, on once what you loved to post about as well. ^-^

Depends on what your niche is.

I have trouble posting in the majority of threads these days. In part because they all bleed together and look the same, and in part because I've generally already answered that thread.

For me, I honestly just stick to Innocent Town now, and nothing else.

I don't see the point in getting out of that comfort zone, because no one is making me feel like t would be particularly worth the interaction.

Don't force anything. If it feels like it's interesting, then it is.

If it doesn't feel interesting, then it isn't.

No point trying to talk about things you don't find interesting, you know?

I'd have to agree with leggy, here.  There are a lot of shallow threads, but the thread types tend to change with the population... and right now, our population seems to enjoy more shallow threads. Why not stick with the technology and debate threads, like you used to do?  I'm sure there's something there worth talking about. And if not... the best way to find post-worthy topics is just to create them!  Good luck, and nice to see you back.

I also have a bit of a hard time posting. I love reading through threads, and seeing other people's opinions, but when it comes to posting my own, I often to feel like it, and I'm not sure why. It's like I want to have something worthwhile to say... but why? This is just a forum, not a political platform.

I think it's kinda of a mindset we need to get out of.

I don't know what I say.

It's easy to post.

One word solution.

"Spam"

Lol

Have fun

You just have to do it.
Sit down and just post. Look at the forums that interest you, and then find the threads that interest you. It's pretty simple if you set your mind to it.

Now I feel obligated to come back. That's unfortunate.

P.S. You can be more interesting to strangers by not being such a huge chump!

Well, like the others stated, look what your interests are. I for example, like to talk about people and what's going on in their life, or just simple things, so many of my posts can be found in the General Chat or The topic is you! forums.
But if you like to discuss about various topics, or have a lot of knowledge about games, you might want to look for other stuff.
If you just don't know what to post about and don't want to make long posts, look in the Crazy House, or read a game review and give your opinion about it.
And you can always welcome new members to the board or help them with problems.

When I am looking for things to post, I check first if my friends have posted new stuff. That's where the majority of my posts are posted nowadays. If I'm done there or there isn't anything interesting, I look in the threads where I usually post. But sometimes, I get the feeling I shouldn't do that and I do the complete opposite: Looking at forums where I rarely look. The outcome is often satisfying, as I find things that I normally wouldn't mind but now interest me.

ghostfishy : Indeed, when people started to talk with me because they found my posts interesting I talked more with them, made new friends and got more involved with the topic.

sonicmcmuffin : I agree, look what you think is interesting and voice your own opinion. Better make 5 great posts than 50 shallow posts.

legacyme3 : Maybe some threads are shallow, but on the other side a lot of topics have already been used, so sometimes people just repeat or change what they read. Even I did that sometimes to be honest.

Barathemos : But not everybody wants to spam like you do sometimes

KG : Ouch!

Just find something that interests you and type about it. Eventually, other people will speak to you about it, you can have a discussion, and then you can make friends! If you need to take a break, then go ahead. You'll get that feeling back. Trust me
I have the tendency to type a LOT, and I can type really fast and get a lot of thoughts down like this. That's why I use Forums. You just need to rediscover what makes Forums so fun to YOU and then carry on from there!

I see a lot of posts that hint on what I want to say, but they just don't say it the way I want it said.

I think what you're asking has more to do with being part of the community.

That's truly what sparks the posting. It's the people we're posting with.

At least that's my take on it.

So I'd suggest:
- Posting threads (this was a start) and replying to responses.
- Post in threads where we can learn a little bit about you. You're an older member and an elite. Some might be daunted by you.

So even if it's a stupid thread like:
"What's the last TV show you watched?"
"What's the last song you listened to?"
"What's your favorite (insert noun here)?"

You'll find people with similar and different interests. Easy way to start a few conversations.

- Go out of your way to start conversations
For instance, you see a thread on Dubstep. Having no prior knowledge to genre, you check it out and post what you thought of it. People find that interesting. You've gone out of your way, and now you know more about a topic Vizzed-users like.

I'm a particularly picky poster, but I trudged through it with this in mind.

Hope what I posted helps in some form or fashion. I'm not sure if you can teach an old elite new tricks. =P

This is something I have struggled with my entire time here on vizzed.  I have come to the conclusion that whether I post or not depends on me.  If I am not in a good mood nothing seems interesting so I don't post anything.  When I start to lighten up posting just comes more naturally as I feel more social and willing to share my thoughts.  I've gone months just lurking and gaming w/o making a single posts.  Then sometimes I get to posting multiples per day for days at a time.  Just give it time and things will heat back up for you.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
