Just make sure that there's at least a one block jump between that second part and the floating platforms. That way the floating structure isn't directly connected to the ground. That's what you may have meant, but I'm just restating this to clarify.

If you wanted to have all the parts directly joined together, you could leave that one block gap for the remainder of the competition and connect it back afterwards. That would also work.
