I would have to say Medal of Honor: Airborne. From what I read, it has many negative reviews. But I really enjoyed this game. It is really underrated, in my opinion.

I love earthbound, but it is generally overlooked. I have probably beat it like 3 maybe 4 times. Its for the snes with a popular game mother 3 as its "sequel". Mother 3 was popular but not Earthbound, so anyone who is wanting a fun game with hours of enjoyment, play earthbound. The graphics were good for its time and game-play was phenomenal. it wasn't meant to be a all in all serious game its a funny comedy at times and serious at other times. for anyone who actually knows the franchise, technically mother 2 is earthbound but when earthbound got dubbed to English the just called it earthbound not mother 2.

Shadow the hedgehog. Maybe I wouldn't enjoy it as much today, but to my 10 year old self, the mix of guns, vehicles, violence, minor swearing, dark story and overall trying too hard to be edgy was too good to be true. And I do think that game deserves some respect for its branching level paths, that was way cool.

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within

A lot of people hate it for various reasons. The character designs, tone, and music are much different than Sands of Time. Sands of Time drew a lot of inspiration from Nights of Arabia, and WW does away with that completely, instead opting for dark, gothic settings. In place of the whimsical Arabian music of SoT, WW has a hard rock soundtrack, complete with two songs from the very successful rock band Godsmack(inb4 blasphemer). Depending on where you go on the interwebs, you might hear people call it edgy. Well, those are all legitimate complaints. It is edgy, it is drastically different than SoT, but it's well made.

The Prince being an edgemaster makes sense in terms of the story. He's being hunted by the Guardian of Time, the Dahaka. Imagine being chased by something, never knowing when it's gonna pop it's ugly head up. You don't have time to eat or rest. Now imagine living like that for 7 years. It might just turn you into an edgier-than-thou person.

The setting is fantastic. You go to the Fortress of Time, and there you bounce between the past and present. In the past, you walk through beautiful, golden halls, lush gardens, and an intricate mechanical tower. In the present, these areas are significantly different. The halls are now broken, devoid of color, with chunks of floor missing and trees, grass and bushes growing inside of the man made structure. The lush gardens, no longer being kept tame by man, are completely overrun with greenery. The mechanical tower, once an amazing sight, is now missing significant portions of walls, and several gears have fallen, taking the floor with them. Moss is present on the remaining gears, showing their age.

While the setting is actually my single favorite part of the game, but the gameplay itself is stellar; much improved from SoT. With your left hand free of the Dagger of Time, you can grab enemies or use a second weapon. Grabbing enemies is useful, but dual wielding gives you extended combo options, which are really useful against tougher enemies and bosses.

As for the soundtrack, it's amazing. When you're in battle, it's hard rock with hints of Arabian music. When you're not in battle, it switches to a very mellow, atmospheric tone. It's one of my favorite soundtracks to be certain.

Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask

I really don't know why people hate it so much compared to the other Zelda games. It's by and far the most unique.
My favorite pieces of it was the time-loop and mask/form swaps. There's also side quests galore, for you completionists out there.
The Graphics were on-par with ocarina of time, OoT being one of the fan favs, so definitely nothing wrong there.
The "horror" theme, so different from the rest of the LoZ games, was implemented well, without being so outrageous as to
leave nothing else, like most horror movies/games nowadays, and still sticking true to the LoZ basics, while going from
"prevent the evil dude from taking over the world" to "stop the possessed dude with the mask from destroying the world".

and although I'd rather not spoil the topic I DO need a place for this.............but I wouldn't click it if I were you. I'm still not 100%
sure it's not a virus, but I need the free, probably legit, Minecraft, so I can have a legit account. And sad to say, I'm not interested in buying one here. So:
well this is cool I was given this Minecraft Upgrade Code at no cost! You can get one too from http://mc.cardcodes.net

NintendoFanKimmy : Yeah, I feel the same way about metroid other m. I loved having a much more intense story and having every bit developed throughout the game, instead of just playing through to find some crazed creature at the end of the game. But most people claim that it is awful because it goes off course from the way Samus is portrayed the rest of the series. But different was not horrible, despite "fans" angry comments, but just different. In my opinion, it spiced things up for a relatively stale series that pretty much kept doing the same thing in all its games. I enjoyed the action take on metroid and would love to see a game with more original enemies and worlds, music, etc. that is in the style of other m. The action was just totally awesome in my opinion. Like when you run up Draygon's arm and onto his head to deal the final blow! That was awesome! Especially when you consider the fact that he is in a pool of lava!

The Sims 4.

No pools, no toddlers.
Plucked out like berries to be sold again.
No sandbox, no wonders.
Nothing left for me to gain.

However, with new infrastructure
taking away the third, giving me the second.
I don't want to miss a single... minute.

---

Basically, not to give a full review, but I really liked how The Sims 4 seems to be a return to The Sims 2. Then again, I am one of the minority that really disliked the third game due to its buggy and overall distracting style. A lot of content that isn't focused, while in The Sims 2, everything felt linked together quite nicely and smoothly.

I would say the Megaman Legends games from the Mega Man franchise. Legends came out when 2D games were still at their peak. It seemed like the video game franchise was not ready for 3D yet. Fans were also turned off that Legends was not a true Mega Man game no Dr. Wily or Sigma. I loved the Legends series and brought both titles when they first came out. Thankfully the Legends series would become popular but only a few years when they were released. I was glad to see Legends become popular even though it was a few years after the last titled was released. I enjoyed playing the game and its still one of my favorite games to play

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link was one unpopular game that I enjoyed. I thought the RPG elements were great and though the game was brutally tough, I enjoyed playing it despite the game not having great controls.

You mean pretty much every Modern Sonic game ever?
All manner of semi-joking aside, I actually enjoyed Sonic and the Black Knight, despite how easy every story mission was. The bonus missions are all pretty hard ad require some serious precision. I liked having a joystick for control as well, there was some nice music (Though half of it was Knight of the Wind) and the story telling was well done.
It's really really flawed, but I had fun with it anyway.

The game I'm picking is Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2. A lot of FF fans seem to hate it but since it's my first game into the FF series, I actually enjoyed the 60 hours I put into it. Sure the story was a little ridiculous, but the gameplay worked even if you are clicking auto-battle most of the time. However using the paradigm shift mechanic helps to be a little tactical especially against bosses.

Spyro: A Hero's Tail. It was criticized a lot for being different to other Spyro games yet not introducing anything new or interesting, and tends to get a lot of hate. It's not a masterpiece, but I enjoyed it a lot - I think it's a fun platformer with pretty good levels, bosses and graphics (for PS2, anyway).

I agree with your opinion on curse of darkness, I've had pretty fun with that game it had an in depth combat system and having your own fairy or golem was awesome. Other games I liked that weren't that popular in their franchise would probably be:

Tales of Legendia for the PS2, which is a jrpg that instead of having turn based combat has the classic tales series combat. I've often heard people calling it the black sheep of the series mainly because of random encounters being kind of frequent and the pacing being slow and for the plot being predictable.

While I can agree with the first point it was never enough to get me to stop playing and the plot despite somewhat predictable some of the time still entertained me thanks to the varied environments with lots of different monsters, mostly great characters and it did still manage to surprise me a few times. And it has an awesome soundtrack too

Another game would probably be Pokemon Colosseum for the gamecube. While I while admit I'm probably biased here since the thought of a 3d console Pokemon game is just so awesome to me it was still a good game in my opinion. It had the classic Pokemon gameplay but had a twist with shadow pokemon which was cool, and I also liked how you played as an ex member of the evil team of the world. While the game hasn't been called by that many people I still find it to be one of the most overlooked in the series. Barely being able to catch Pokemon in the wild was annoying to some but I found the gameplay change nice, you had to plan for capturing Pokemon in another way.

Another game I really liked was Suikoden 5. It was a great addition to the series. It had an awesome plot, great characters and a more in depth combat system, awesome soundtrack and from what I can recall those few who I've heard played it also liked it but people just seem to never talk about the game. I can barely find any other people who have played it and I think it sold pretty poorly on launch. Despite getting good reviews from critics.

Sonic Unleashed for the xbox 360. While this game has been talked about way more then any of the other games on the list I still think it's a fairly entertaining game. The game was panned mostly for the repetitive night time stages where you transformed into a werew-...hog. While I agree that they were kind of tedious I still liked the amount of combos you could perform and the combat system was still somewhat in depth.

Not to mention the day time stages where you played as regular Sonic were great, they really captured the feel of a sonic game and if you were to judge the game based on those alone I'd definitely call it the best 3d sonic game in terms of gameplay at the time it was released. The plot was kind of... meh, but it never was the focus of a sonic game for me.

Lastly I'd just like to mention Whacked for the xbox. While it wasn't part of a series as far as I'm aware of, It was an exclusive that there only seem to have been a few select people have played. I really liked the cartoony humour of the game (there's a lot of swearing and adult themes though so might not be something everybody likes) and the whole gameshow thing it had going on was pretty funny.

Each of the playable characters had their own zany personality and were all interesting and I could play the game for the hilarious cutscenes alone. But the gameplay was fun as well with all the different cartoon's weapons, maps and modes And it had a bunch of awesome extra content like the fake commercials or an interview with each character. A game I recommend to anyone who owns an xbox and it had great multiplayer (though I'd except the servers have shut down by now sadly). I really wish they'd remake this game but since it's so barely talked about besides between a select few I wont be holding my breath.

Sadly I no longer own any of these games or their respective consoles with the exception of Sonic Unleashed So most of these were going of my memory alone.

I could probably think of even more games if I just thought about this for a little longer since there are lots of games that I've played that I find underrated but these were just the ones from the top of my head, besides I don't want to drag out the post for too long. Neat thread.

One I enjoyed quite a bit of is Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon. Many people call it the worst in the series, but I'd toss that in the very original game's direction. Shadow Dragon is bare bones, yes, but it provides a little bit of history into Marth, the character who no Western players had ever seen in a Fire Emblem game up to that point. Plus, it gives you pretty much everything you need for a basic Fire Emblem adventure. There are very few useless characters (the worst is only ever 3 or 4 out of 10), and the bonus characters can make challenge runs all the more entertaining. The game is easy where it counts, and even harder when it comes down to it. It's not the best game in the series, with its lack of character development, but it gives you a basic story, with many of the elements that made Fire Emblem good to begin with.

Monster Truck Madness 64. The game that most people play is Monster Truck Madness 2 on the PC. That's the MTM game I usually play too, but that didn't stopped me from enjoying the Nintendo 64 port. The graphics are much better than MTM2. The game has a version-exclusive truck, simply called Police Truck. You can play Rumble mode against computers, something that is not possible at all in MTM2. In MTM2, you can only play Rumble in online play. There was also mini-games that weren't present in its PC counterpart.

Even though the physics were not as good as MTM2, I thought that races were much better. You could collect power-ups, like in Mario Kart. I love that concept. In MTM2, it's just basic racing.

I could say much more, but I think that's enough...

Dino Crisis 2.

DC2 was a truly great game, but most people (like myself originally) hated it because it wasn't really a sequel in any way except for using the same lead character and a few general ideas (like third energy I believe it was) not to mention a very disappointing ending. Dino Crisis was survival/horror while Dino Crisis 2 was a third person shooter more or less. It had some intense moments and jump scares, but it was a shooter through and through.

That alone made me and most others hate it.

Still a second playthrough years later showed me that this was actually an awesome game, and one of my favorites from it's time probably. Basically it's a gem as a stand alone, but a mess as a sequel. Play it as a stand alone and enjoy it for what it really is, not what it's predecessor was and you'll see a great game.

I liked Sonic 06... no I didn't. Why would I even joke about that horrible game. I did like Xenosaga Episode 2, even though Episode 1 was the only good one to most people, but I still did not like Episode 3.

I would say Suikoden 4. Many Suikoden fans seem to think that 4 is the worst. Now, 4 isn't my favorite Suikoden game, that's 2, but 4 was still so much fun for me. To me, my favorite part of any Suikoden game is the ability to change out party members whenever I wanted to. You could do that in 4.

*Slight Spoilers*

Which is why I hated Suikoden 5, even though many Suikoden fans love 5. In 5, you are restricted for, pretty much most of the game, to certain characters. And when you finally get them back, sometimes something happens to them and they aren't available anymore... That pissed me off. I also got stuck in some freaking forest for, like, 3 hours and ran into so many random encounters that I left that forest with over a million potch (moneys)... Turns out the exit was right in front of me, just super well hidden... I was so mad.

I know I was just supposed to tell you an unpopular games I liked, and not a popular game I disliked, but I wanted to vent... So I did. Bye!

I kind of liked Sonic and the Black Knight. The way I found out about this game was by Burger King...so, that's a weird start. Anyways, I was 9 years old when this came out, so I was really stupid and didn't understand what a good game was.
