I didn't believe it at first, since the first news I saw of it was a repost of a Variety article... then I verified it with some other news outlets and I was just in shock. I mean, I knew he had issues with depression (you can't be that manic all the time, the lows have to come eventually)... but... just... wow. The police report says he hung himself with his own belt and he died from asphyxiation... that has got to be a horrible way to go.

I shared this on my facebook page, but this Cracked article actually gives a lot of incite into comedians and depression that is uncharacteristically serious for that site (warning, language). I recommend it highly to anyone that doesn't understand how such a funny, wacky person could commit suicide, or to those people who have that friend who is always the funny guy.

Overall, I have to say that even though I haven't really been a fan in awhile, Robin Williams was a part of my childhood and early adulthood and his passing saddens me deeply. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

Man was a legend. It's so weird to think he's gone, he was such a comedy staple. Genie, Mr.s Doubtfire, Patch Adams. You'll be missed, Robin.

Wow I actually forgot that he was in Jamunji also. That was another movie that I actually watched a lot and I really liked. Even though it came out before I was born, my family had a VHS tape of it and I had a VHS player built into my TV so I watched a lot of VHS's. good memories :')

He always seemed like such a happy dude in all his movies i would have never guessed in real life he was depressed. Its interesting though some therapists only will take rich clients because money is such an issue for everyone and they hear the same thing all the time where as with rich people money wont come up in sessions is just about real stuff! Now that we know how anyone know why lol?

This being a gaming site, I think it is only fitting to post this video as a reminder (or for those who were never aware of the fact) that his daughter is named after the Nintendo character, Zelda.

Even though I knew about this after a few minutes since it was originally posted on the web, I've been avoiding posting here. Mostly because I don't have anything constructive to add accept that he was one of the few actors and/or comedians I care to remember. But I found these tributes to him today that I thought were nice. An art tribute, a WoW tribute

Rest in peace, Robin Williams.

Robin Williams wasn't just depressed; he had bipolar disorder. For those with the disorder, the highest of heights will always be followed by desperate lows. Doctors have not figured out any way to cure it. Only treat. I also have this disorder, so in a way, people like me take it as a personal blow. And in more ways than one. Like basically everyone here has said, his body of work means a lot to me. Dead Poets Society is a special movie to me, but I will mostly miss just his attitude toward life in general. The respect he had for a gorilla versed in sign language, to how happy he worked to make people, even when he was only doing it to benefit one.

Robin Williams was haunted by a great sadness, yes. But he fought it all the way.

So much love for this man.

It's hard to believe that a great actor like Robin Williams could be depressed. I remember the day when he died, during my vacations. There was Hook on TV and I was like "Dad, mom, there's "Hook" on TV. Let's watch it". And we watched the movie. The first time I watched "Hook", one of my favorite movies, I was a kid and I enjoyed it. Several years later, I'm 25 and I still enjoy this movie. It was like I was back to my childhood without leaping through time. I guess we can be grateful to Robin Williams for all these good times. Thank you, Robin Williams, and rest in peace.
