This thread is dedicated to providing all of the information and resources for the people who plan to help out with the Exteriors and Interiors of the Pokemon Kanto Region map on the Vizzed Minecraft Server.

Our goal is to accurately replicate the Kanto Region of Pokemon, inside and out. The map layouts and graphics are based on Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green for the Game Boy Advance. Those 2 versions are pretty similar to Pokemon Blue and Red except with better map layouts and of course better graphics.

Not every item and graphic from Pokemon will be used since there are more items and objects in Pokemon than what Minecraft has so we'll have to get creative. Also, since my texture pack isn't finished yet, you'll come across objects that I haven't recreated in Minecraft so for the time being, just use whatever matches it best and let me know which objects I need to add into Minecraft from Pokemon.

You’ll only be able to do the towns and routes which I’ve finished the landscaping of but if you catch up to me, you can go ahead and work on the interiors of buildings of towns and routes I haven’t done finished yet.



Graphics and Objects
The roofs are all Wood Planks. The reason for this is because the Wood Plank textures are used for slabs and stairs and those work great for the roofs.

The exterior walls are of most common building materials such as stone, bricks, etc.

The interior floors are mostly Stained Wool.

The interior walls are mostly Stained Clay.

The interior and exterior windows are Stained Glass.

You can of course use other objects for the walls, floors and roofs if you find something else that better matches what you're working on. For example, if you find none of the Wool matches the flooring that you're working on but one of the Clay objects do, feel free to use it.

Most of the items will be similar to their minecraft item in some way but it won’t always be the case. Whenever possible, I'll also try to match things based on color. Feel free to make any requests for things you think should be changed or added.



Exterior
I'll be in charge of landscaping, all you really have to focus on is putting together the routes and the towns. Make sure everything is in the exact spot that it’s in according to the game, everything needs to be to scale (or as close to it as possible).



Interior
As you already know, when entering a building in the “Pokemon Kanto Region” world, you get teleported to the inside of the building in the “Pokemon Kanto Region – Indoor” world. Try to keep the layout of the interior similar to the locations of the exterior. So for example, professor oak’s house is close by to Red’s house (main character) so the interiors should be close by too.

You can use the current interiors as a reference to see how you should construct all other interiors.

Paintings are used for flat wall objects such as TVs, signs, posters, etc.

Torches are invisible but should surround a room at the top of the back of the black walls so that the rooms light up.



Markers
This is a Dynmap feature that you can read about here:

Any time you make a room on the “Pokemon Kanto Region – Indoor” map or a building on the “Pokemon Kanto Region” map, you should add a marker so that users who are viewing things from the Interactive Map know what is what and it’ll make it easier for us developers of this world to know what is what as well. You should be able to find the instructions on how to make the markers in the above URL.

Here’s how the naming of the Markers will work:
You should first specify the name of the town the building or interior is in followed by the building name. For interior, you’ll want to add a dash and then specify that it’s the ‘Inside’. For sure I'll be doing the landscaping but I might also construct the routes and towns, we'll see. If I do choose to do that though, then maybe you could also make the signs and place their original text on them (except information signs).

Im just tired and been very distracted lately, so it will be harder for me to focus on just the map without my mind wondering off to another project.

Davideo7 : Alright, I can do that. Ive been working all day and have a big headache right now and have to do even more tomorrow. I will try to get pallet done within today/tomorrow time period since I feel like I need to get something done.

Throughout the day ive been thinking about possible things I might need or questions, and I could only think of one thing. I know you want it to be a 1:1 scale to Pokémon R/B but with the colors of FR/LG. I was comparing the insides yesterday to FR save file you gave me, and I think I will also need a R/B save file or graphics from the inside to scale it properly, but will remember to refer to the FR save file for colors. If you get anything of what I'm saying (Half of the time I don't even understand what I saying) can you give me an answer on what to do. If not I can try and figure out another way of saying it.

Davideo7 : I had a thought the other day about how a few things would work. Im assuming i will be doing caves and such since that is considered a "Inside" of the game... But what about Virdidan Forest? Would that be made on the over-world or the Inside? I would think over-world but the question is if there is enough space, so would that fall under my job?

Since the inside is far bigger compared to how the outside is represented for Viridian Forst, the details of it will have to be build on the 'Vizzed Pokemon Kanto Region - Inside' map. That would be your job. Since the trees in Viridian Forest are different than the trees on the over world map, I'll have to work on creating the trees for it so you'll have to wait until I do that.

All of the caves would be on the 'Vizzed Pokemon Kanto Region - Inside' map as well.

Davideo7 : Its fine, i got the Rival's house done and planning on the next town between tomorrow and the next day since ive partly got the Pokemon Center done. My only problem i have had so far is how im going to do Prof. Oak's because i cannot find the texture for the flooring and i didnt know what you wanted me to do for the table and possibly the bookshelves since they are white instead of green. Thats really only been a big issue with me. But thank you for letting me know about Viridian forest, ill make sure to be planning on doing that.

Something that I didn't even think of was that the entrances should all face the same direction, that way when you look at it from the Interactive Dynmap you can see everything from a similar perspective as the game.

If you want me to rotate what you've done so far, I can do it or if you want to do it yourself, that's fine too. EideticMemory will have to reposition the warps.
