But my personally opinion of what dubstep is is raw musical sounds that are electronica and have a "bass drop". I guess the best way to put it would be is just listen to a few deadmau5 or some Skrillex. That's a pretty good explanation in my opinion.

I like a few dubstep compositions, but most of my favorites are remixes. Quality remixes take just the emotional parts of songs and use them to make you feel a certain emotion. It might be sadness, or even fear, but the emotion is there.

You'll notice that the vocal itself is an instrument and that bass drops are plentiful.

Sadly.....dubstep is not my kind of music. I tried to listening to it, and it was weird and strange to me in a way. I read the link of where it was made. Funny enough it was made where I live. People have their own music that they like to listen too, and I'm not really a fan of this one...

So it's completely understandable that dubstep is not your cup of tea.

Personally I love dubstep. Its one of my favorite genres of music.

The buildup and the drop always feel amazing when you have a good pair of earphones in.

It does take some getting used to, but when you get into it, you really do get into it.

Deadmau5 is house, not dubstep I say this so often. He doesn't have a bass drop nor many of those wubs.

Dubstep artists I recommend are Xilent (Boss Wave) Tristan (Follow Me, Chairs), Pendulum and Zed's Dead.

Skrillex isn't that great often times, but his earlier stuff like "****ing Die" or "Weekends" are some of my favorites of his.

EideticMemory : Not bad. That link in your first post is actually pretty good. I think I like the Skrillex version just a little better. But the person that made that one has some serious skills to use the voice like that.

Eniitan : A lot of people do not like it. It is one of those those "I hate this garbage" or "Like, Oh my gawd!!! Best thing evah!" kind of deal. Just try listening to a few different people. Most people can find 1 or 2 songs that they like. Dubstep is kinda broad when it comes to what it can sound like.

As for Deadmau5, I don't really listen to them... I mostly listen to Skrillex. I usually pull Skirllex up on YouTube, and just YouTube roll with it.

Would Eisenfunk's "Pong" be considered Dubstep, or would that be more techno?

dubstep is like the trash metal of techno to me. I don't understand most of it but I like the occasional song that I hear

But no. Most people have the same stance that you do. Could you perhaps link me to 3 dubstep songs that you do like? Most people who feel the same way you do about it generally have the same taste, so I just want to see if it is true in your case or not.

I agree with geeo, to me it is just noise in a lot of cases, but occasionally there are a few, very rare instances that I actually like a dubstep remix....To be completely honest, I haven't listened to a whole lot of dubstep, but I feel like I have listened to enough of it to the point that I can say that it isn't my favorite genre of music, but it is tolerable and I guess I can see why so many people like it, I just don't think it is for me however. 

yup. I dislike a really low quality genre of music and it is "hateraide".

Eniitan : That's actually a good one. Most dubstep fans like that one. Another one people usually like is Scorpion's Theme. Look that one up.

thing1 : Not big on dubstep. However, I'm starting to like drum n' bass. Thing is, I haven't been listening long enough to tell whether or not a song has different forms mixed in with each other (i.e Trance mixed with house, etc.)

The only exception for a dubstep track that sounds pretty nice is the remix of  "Cinema". But that's it for me.

I'm never a big fan of the Dubstep genre in general. Drum and bass with a few wubs in the middle doesn't tickle my fancy for music in my opinions. The definition makes me even less of a fan. Thanks wikipedia.

Just to clarify one thing: deadmau5 isn't considered dubstep at all. A lot of deadmau5's work is considered progressive house or experimental electronic. He has maybe 2 tracks that could be labeled as actual dubstep. Those tracks being "Raise Your Weapon," and "One Trick Pony."



Skrillex on the other hand is dubstep, or what I've heard him be called is "brostep," really. That is the very stereotypical sound you would expect to hear when listening to dubsep; very loud and complex sounds with bass drops. It's actually a type of post-dubstep that is very influenced by the original dubstep movement.



Dubstep itself is a bass driven style of electronic music, usually around 130-140 bpm. It has a wide range of variation inside the genre, because it is very popular and a lot of people like to bring different things to this table. A really good example of dubstep in my opinion would be: "Basshead" by Bassnectar, link below. It has roots in a hip hop style, but is a pretty good dubstep track with a lot of bass.

pi0x : Basshead is a good one. I like turning the Base up in my car a little for that, but not too much. That one is more bass-y. I think I prefer Skrillex's style, the First of the Equinox.

When I first gave dubstep a try I didn't expect there to be a lot of " wubs " in it. I had earphones on and I left the volume at max. I'm pretty sure you can guess what happened. After listening to a couple of them I can say that I'm not a big fan of dubstep. However, there are some that I listen to and enjoy.
