Welcome to my review of Snow Brothers! I was in the mood to do a review for an arcade game this time around, so here it is: Snow Brothers. Where do I begin? Well I actually discovered this game in March. I went to my local video game store, and found an NES cartridge in the glass case they put their most valuable games in. It was called "Snow Brothers," and they were selling it for $155. That's an awful lot for an NES game, especially for just the cartridge. I looked it up, and found out Snow Brothers is a rare and very obscure NES gem. I played it on Vizzed, and I was actually impressed. Before I could buy it, somebody already snagged it at the store . So I decided to review Snow Brothers for the NES. Let's dig in.

Graphics: 8/10

This game has very good graphics. This NES game was released in 1992, and that was when NES game started getting graphics as high quality as a Super Nintendo game. I honestly think the graphics in this game are very good. I like how they stand out, and everything is distinguishable. The graphics just show this charm that's really hard to explain. The graphics are rather colorful. It's like a Kirby game, to be honest. There's not really much to say about the graphics in this game, so let's move on...

Sound: 7/10

This game doesn't have much of a soundtrack, really, but the few songs in this game, I did enjoy. I thought they were really catchy. But what I liked most in the sound department are the sound effects. They remind me of your average 80's arcade game, and give you that sense of nostalgia. The sound effects are probably the best I've heard in any arcade game from this time. I wouldn't say they go above and beyond expectations though, and this game was released in 1992, but they're good none of the less.

Addictiveness: 8/10

Like a lot of arcade games, this game in particular is very addicting. It's an awful lot like Mario, really. It's basically like a spin-off of Mario Bros, the only plumbing related Mario game. What makes this game addicting is being able to score many power-ups and killing enemies just seems to be a big thing adding up to the addictiveness factor. Scoring points just makes you wanna keep playing and playing and playing, and the biggest reason of why I like this game is how addicting it is.

Story: 5/10

This story isn't original, really. We've seen it in the Spongebob Squarepants movie. The story is about a villain known as King Scorch, who freezes Prince Nick and Tom. Nick and Tom become terrestrial figures made of snow, however Scorch has kidnapped the Ice Princess. This story offers next to nothing, but it's not like it matters because this is a really short arcade game, so you won't exactly find a Stephen King story in this game. It's okay, I guess, but when you think about it, it's nothing.

Depth: 5/10

This game offers a decent amount, I have to say, but there's not very many levels in this game. You play as Nick, but you can also play a multiplayer mode of which Player 2 is Tom, and both players play simultaneously. Nick and Tom throw snowballs. To kill an enemy, you throw snowballs at it. It temporarily gets trapped in a snowball, which is when you must push the snowball to make it roll around the stage. If the snowball runs into any other enemies, you will get bonus points and it'll make the process of killing all the enemies faster. To complete a level, you must kill all the enemies. Some enemies require a strategy in order to kill. There's some bonus stages thrown in so you can get extra points, plus the bonus stages are really fun, but really challenging. In the game, you'll fight through several boss fights. Killing all of them just consists of either pushing snowballs at them or throwing snowballs at them. It's funny how snowballs can be such a powerful weapon, but it's video game logic, and nobody can really judge it. There's only 50 levels in this game and they all fly by really quickly, but they're decently fun. This game offers a lot of powerups. Larger ammo, agility, and invincibility. They can be quite tricky to obtain however.

Difficulty: 3/10

To be honest, this is probably the easiest game I have ever played. This game really offers no great challenge. Enemies are easy to dodge, the level design is cheap, killing enemies is a breeze, and the enemies are just flat-out idiots. They pretty much NEVER attack you, which is a big flaw in this game. If Capcom (And yes, Capcom made this game) wanted this game to be challenging, well, I'm not seeing it.

Overall: 7/10

This game can be really fun if you're bored and in the mood for an arcade game, and this game does have some good elements. I can't really say a lot about this game because it's such a simple and incredibly short game, but this game is still a gem that's worth trying if you're a big fan of arcade games.
